Among the multiple definitions of success, success to me is the .docxnettletondevon
Among the multiple definitions of success, success to me is the accomplishment and achievement of my goals. Having a learning disability, I have been faced with various challenges in my educational path right from high school. Despite it all, I have now managed to enroll to a college where I pursue my most enjoyable and favorite course in graphics and web design. Being able to reach this stage is so far a success to me. To add on this, success in college can be realized through the achievement of high grades in all my markets. Once this has been accomplished, higher chances of landing a good job after college are created. Before then, success will be marked when I graduate from college with high marks to land a good job.
Apart from educational achievement, success can be realized through the use of my creativity to come up with original and imaginative designs. In addition to this, success to me is to master the skills and knowledge in web application development and to be conversant with the different technologies used in graphics and web design. In this manner, ability is gained in the creation of graphics and web designs that are attractive and compelling to an audience. With time, I can create my company that offers web design and graphic related services to the market. Even though can be a bit challenging to implement at first, sharpening my web designs can provide me with a large followers. Conversely, success is realized in the discovery of other activities I am passionate about apart from web design.

2. About Me
My name is Erin Williams and I am 17 years old. I am a student at
South Downs College and am in my first year of my BTEC Level 3
Extended Diploma Multi-Media Journalism Course. My ideal job role
is to become a Radio Presenter on a well known radio station. This
job role appeals to me because to become a successful radio
presenter you need to be able to generate ideas, and to communicate
them creatively using only your voice effectively to a large audience.
This skill is something that could be a challenge but is something I
would enjoy to take on as a career.
This is also a job role that requires dedication as it could consist of
long hours, especially early starts of at least 5:00am. Depending on
the airing of a radio presenter’s show. ‘Airtime slots’ are typically
around 3 hours but this can be anywhere on a 24 hour schedule
depending on the popularity, genre of show, and the type of radio
broadcast.
3. SWOT
• Strengths – My strengths for this job role is that I can think creatively and am
able to generate these ideas in a confident manner. I am also able to
communicate with different people and have good social skills when having to
communicate with people for certain tasks. I also feel this job role is required
to work effectively and quickly, and would have to become immune to working
under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. This is something that I would
require as a strength of mine. I also have knowledge when it comes to ICT
Skills, and would be a quick learner in terms of knowing where and when to
apply these skills
• Weaknesses – My weaknesses of mine would be working under pressure
and having a certain time limit to complete a task. This particularly heightens
my stress levels of being under pressure
• Opportunities -
• Threats – The threats of facing this job role is other candidates applying for
this role who are more experienced and better skilled than you. This could be
a major possibility as it is a rather popular and well known job title.
4. My Plan Of Action
During College: My course is the correct course I feel for my future job role as the
skills I would need to know and have experience for is applied within this course. Its
also a course which could offer multiple job roles if you later wanted to take a
different path within the media route.
After college: After college I would like to develop from my skills that I have learnt
from college and extend them further by attending University. By doing this I would
gain more experience and would heighten my possibility's in being successful at
achieving the job role.
Routes to take: With the skills you gain from university and college you could take
the routes of applying for the job role straight away. There are also other routes you
could take such as applying for apprenticeships to gain more experience. Or further
study because it could be essential for your career path or highly desirable for entry
into your chosen career. Alternatively, you may want to gain more skills and improve
your chance of breaking into a career area, such as public relations or multimedia.
Personally, I would like to apply for the job role after university as you can gain more
experience while working, so you can still be learning while being successful in your
job title.
Opportunities: While in the process of learning, oppurtunities such as voluntary
work would develop your skills and could help with deciding if that is the job role for
you before taking it any further
5. Skills: What is looked for in a presenter
Experience is essential when moving up the ladder in radio presenting. Most presenters start by
broadcasting small shows on hospital radios, university radios, community stations or online streaming
devices, which they usually volunteer for.
Youtube has become excellent for practicing presenting and hosting and has become a source for
many talent scouts and employers.
Experience in a studio can often be gained from working alongside sound technicians and crews and
progressing through broadcasting teams.
Large radio stations and mainstream channels will not normally consider a radio presenter with no
previous experience. A wide plethora of previous shows and versatile presenting is preferable.
Aswell as experience, major responsibilities are needed to be taken on board as Radio presenters are
responsible for being the ‘voice’ of a radio station. This gives them the variety of responsibilities
relating to engaging their audience and representing the station in a respectable light. These include:
• Researching features that will come up during the radio show
• Planning the general direction of the show. This may include writing and scripting in preparation.
• Rehearsing
• Meeting guests for the radio programme beforehand and discussing the outline of interviews
• Working with a sound technology team and assisting them in sound check
• Introducing music, guests and other features throughout the show
7. My Target Grades for College
My aim for when I leave college is to achieve triple distinction (DDD) in my
Media Course. This will allow me to attend University and possibly a higher
course the better the grades I achieve.
If I unfortunately do not achieve grades as well as this, I will need to look at
other possible routes such as taking on an apprenticeship so that way I can
gain skills to better my chances of receiving the job role I want
8. Applying for work
Applying for work can be simply done by
applying for job roles like these online.
This is something I would consider while
still attending college because it’s great
experience to include on your CV for
when applying for the job role in the
future. Or, by starting of with voluntary
work, it could lead you straight into an
official full time job.
This is a good example of a possible threat you could face within this job role
as the requirements could be something you are not able to meet.
