Improvements to Azure VM backups
[General Available]
• Azure Backup now has even greater support and functionality for
Azure VM backups:
• Azure Backup is introducing restoring Unmanaged VMs/Disks as Managed
VMs/Disks to provide the benefit of Managed disks for customers who are
currently backing up their unmanaged disks.
• Azure Backup now supports Replace existing disks as an option for VMs that
have Managed Service Identities (MSI) Both User assigned Identities and
System assigned Identities.
• Azure Backup now supports backup & restore of Virtual Machine Scale Sets in
the orchestration mode prescribed here.

[General Available]
• We are announcing support for the selection of Availability Zones while migrating
servers using the Azure Migrate: Server Migration tool. Azure Availability Zones
are a high availability offering that protects your applications and data from
datacenter failures.
• You can now achieve improved resiliency for critical application workloads that
you are migrating by pinning individual virtual machines to different Availability
Zones in the target Azure region.
• This functionality is currently available via the Azure portal. Use this capability
and get industry-leading 99.99 percent uptime SLA for your migrated workloads
with virtual machines running in two or more Availability Zones in the same
region.

Support to assess physical, AWS, GCP servers
[General Available]
• Support to assess physical servers is now generally available in Azure Migrate.
This feature can also be used to assess virtual machines on Amazon Web Services
(AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or any cloud, on-premise machines of any
virtualization or VMware / Hyper-V machines where there is no access to the
hypervisor. The assessments offer Azure suitability analysis, migration cost
planning and performance-based rightsizing. Support for application dependency
analysis (agent-based) is also available. Upto 1000 servers can be discovered per
appliance, and any number of servers per Azure Migrate project.

Azure Blob versioning
[General Available]
• Azure storage strives to protect your business critial data from any accident or attack. To support
that goal, we are announcing the general availability of Azure Blob versioning. Azure Blob
Versioning automatically maintains previous versions of an object and identifies them with
version IDs. You can list both the current blob and previous versions using version ID timestamps.
You can also access and restore previous versions as the most recent version of your data if it was
erroneously modified or deleted by an application or other users.
• Together with our existing data protection features including data redundancy, soft delete,
container soft delete (preview), account delete locking, and immutable blobs, Azure Blob storage
provides the most complete user configurable settings to protect your business critical data.
• Turning on versioning is free. You will pay for the additional data storage when versions are
created.
