An overview on current Microsoft Technologies around Private - / Hybrid-Clouds and what's coming up with the next version aka Azure Stack from our session at e2evc Berlin.
Microsoft Azure Stack Introduction Overview and tp3 releaseDavid J Rosenthal
Extend Azure on-premises with Azure Stack
Bring the agility and fast-paced innovation of cloud computing to your on-premises environment with Azure Stack. This extension of Azure allows you to modernize your applications across hybrid cloud environments, balancing flexibility and control. Plus, developers can build applications using a consistent set of Azure services and DevOps processes and tools, then collaborate with operations to deploy to the location that best meets your business, technical, and regulatory requirements. Pre-built solutions from the Azure Marketplace, including open source tools and technologies, allow developers to speed up new cloud application development.
Are you looking to build and deploy modern applications that run the same way on the cloud and on-premises environments? Are you delivering the hybrid cloud applications / services your customers are looking for? Azure and Azure Stack can help you achieve this, by enabling you to deliver Azure services on the cloud and on-premises and help simplify hybrid application development.

In this session, we discuss how you can leverage innovative Modular Infrastructure solutions from Dell EMC to transform your environment- gaining greater control and efficiency while accelerating IT services- no matter the size and location of operations.
In the past, many organizations invested heavily in the development and growth of enterprise data warehouses (EDW). Today, the EDW is often at or over capacity. As EDWs hit their limits, many forward-looking organizations are shifting data warehouse processing functions to Hadoop for its scalability and economic benefits.
With a robust EDW offload solution, an organization can accelerate ETL processing, work easily with a wide range of new data sources and formats, and make better use of existing EDW investments.
Thought leaders from Dell EMC, Cloudera and Syncsort discuss how best to begin a big data journey by taking control of all data, controlling costs, and identifying the first use case, so you can move forward with confidence to transform your business.

This presentation from the AWS Lab at Cloud Expo Europe 2014 explores the solutions, support options and software licensing approaches that you can use if you chose to run your enterprise workloads on Amazon Web Services.
With Microsoft applications making up 60% of most enterprises, this session will illustrate mechanisms to migrate to AWS ensuring your migration strategy encompasses a strong, security focused foundation with a focus on removing undifferentiated heavy lifting. Join us on a journey of migrating the Unicornshop.lol core infrastructure to AWS. This includes business productivity systems, Microsoft SQL server, and a number of .NET applications that require seamless migration with minimal downtime. We will walk through the journey of creating our landing zone and fully automated compliance controls before embarking on our migration journey together!
We will guide you through the best practices associated with Microsoft products and services on AWS. You will discover how to address the questions (technical, licensing, pricing) associated with migrating existing platforms (such as Exchange or Sharepoint) and satisfy your core the requirements (AD authentication, monitoring, patching). From hybrid architectures, where the AWS cloud as an extension of your data center, to innovative DevOps centric approaches, we will cover the main use cases seen by our customers.

(CMP404) Cloud Rendering at Walt Disney Animation StudiosAmazon Web Services
"Each year, the technical complexity of making the next great Walt Disney Animation Studios film increases. Animation and Visual FX studios continue to push the bounds of what is possible in computer graphics. This complexity drives rapid technological growth in both computational resources and storage to the point that it exceeds what we can physically provide with our on-premise compute cluster. As a result, we have started to adopt a hybrid approach with the cloud.
This session addresses the hurdles that animation and VFX studios face and focuses on automation of 'disposable' components (specifically infrastructure, licensing, fleet management, data and dependency management in a large-scale batch workload). We apply these general cloud techniques and utilities to an animation/VFX workload and push the limits with a very large scale cloud renderfarm deployment.
The team from Walt Disney Animation Studios walks through how they use cloud technologies to maximize render capacity. Learn how to leverage high-performance storage (like Amazon EFS), Amazon EC2 networking and the latest EC2 Spot features to provide a fully functional renderfarm at production-quality scale."
The Metaverse and AI: how can decision-makers harness the Metaverse for their...Jen Stirrup
The Metaverse is popularized in science fiction, and now it is becoming closer to being a part of our daily lives through the use of social media and shopping companies. How can businesses survive in a world where Artificial Intelligence is becoming the present as well as the future of technology, and how does the Metaverse fit into business strategy when futurist ideas are developing into reality at accelerated rates? How do we do this when our data isn't up to scratch? How can we move towards success with our data so we are set up for the Metaverse when it arrives?
How can you help your company evolve, adapt, and succeed using Artificial Intelligence and the Metaverse to stay ahead of the competition? What are the potential issues, complications, and benefits that these technologies could bring to us and our organizations? In this session, Jen Stirrup will explain how to start thinking about these technologies as an organisation.
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
