Who are they?
They are located in Norwich. Led by Archant, the fifth largest
newspaper publisher in the UK. Archant are a privately owned media
company that employ 1600 people. It owns papers such as the EDP and
East Anglian Daily Times.
What do they make?
Mustard make local news videos, usually about
Norfolk. They have their own TV channel (Freeview
channel 8) since 2012
They cover local events over East Anglia.
Who do they make it for?
They broadcast through their own TV channel. The
target audience is Norfolk residents, but they also
advertise Norfolk around all of the UK through their
web channel.
What is the Brand?
They try and cover “all kinds of cool, local events that
wouldn’t necessarily get coverage anywhere else”.
One of the original founders of Archant was Jeremiah
Colman who was the founder of Colman’s Mustard. Colman’s is one of the
oldest brands in the UK and is iconic to Norwich.
The team also says “Mustard is a word with different meanings. It is
something spicy, tasty, sharp and with a number of varieties. It’s a condiment,
something to add to make food more interesting. It definitely isn’t bland. It is slang

1922 by John Reith.
They are based in London, with some
23,000 staff.
It is owned by the government and
comprises of TV, Radio, and Web.
In 2012 their revenue was an
estimated £5.1 Billion.
What do they make?
They have several TV channels,
including their main 4, childrens’
channels and news channels. For these
they make a plethora of shows from
Dramas to Documentaries. They also
have several radio channels and
produce products for their online
audiences.
Who do they make it for?
They produce content for their own TV channels aimed at a wide audience. Although they are a
British company and produce media for British audiences, many of their products are broadcast
around the world.
Specific channels have specific audiences, e.g., BBC Radio 4 is aimed at mature listeners, whereas
BBC Radio 1 has a younger target audience.
What is the Brand?
They also fund projects such as films and art, through branches such as the BBC Performing Arts
Fund.
The BBC has a reputation for delivering fair and unbiased news.
