What’s the song about?
I believe the song is a woman who has been hurt/cheated on by her partner. “Heart
getting torn from all your mistakes” suggests that he has hurt her more than once. The
song is the woman getting out all the emotions he has caused her to feel. In the middle
of the song she sings “won’t you stay” this suggests that he has come back but has left
her for someone else. The song represents the heartbreak that she is feeling due to
being hurt. Near the end of the song she sings “And loves floating away” this shows that
she is letting go of her feelings towards him because he’s hurt her so much.
What is your video about? What is the story/message/question you are
trying to convey?
In my video I plan to use performance throughout as I feel that the person I have chosen
to play the singer will be able to portray the emotion that the song is showing. The
performance alone is going to show the passion and hurt the singer is feeling (which is
shown through the lyrics). I am trying to convey how the artist feels and the emotional
rollercoaster that she has been taken on whilst being in this relationship.
Is it going to illustrate, amplify or completely challenge the song’s message?
My video will both illustrate and amplify the songs message as I want the viewers to be
able to experience what the artist is feeling as I feel that the feelings she has portrayed
in the lyrics are very significant and vibrant. I chose not to challenge the songs message
as I feel that it may cause confusion amongst the viewers, causing them to not
understand how the artist is feeling through the visuals.
What is going to make this video iconic, creative and unique?
My video will be unique because it will not have 50% narrative-performance balance, as
it is conventional for music videos from this genre to portray the story of the lyrics
strongly through a narrative. I plan to include subtle hints of a narrative in my video but
I am hoping that the message of the lyrics will be strongly represented through the
heartfelt and emotional performance.
