The proposed concept for the music video is to use long, handheld camera shots to express the emotion in Ed Sheeran's song "Lego House". An invisible camera will follow the actor as he walks alone dealing with inner emotions and depression. There will be elliptical edits between long shots to depict the actor's pain. The narrative will show a man slowly losing hope in love as he cannot be with the woman he cares for. It will be left ambiguous if he chooses to continue living or take his own life at the end. The video will be shot in isolated natural locations using low lighting and a color palette of dark blacks with bursts of white to represent darkness and hope.

2. Concept
The concept/idea for my video is to use long and handheld
shots to help express the emotion in the video. An invisible
camera man will follow my actor as he walks to deal with
the emotions he feels, although the walk seems innocent to
the viewer. There is a deeper and more sinister motive
behind the walk, when the actor is walking outside i will
have a long hand held shot which will cut to different shot to
express the emotion then jump back to the long shot. Using
these elliptical edits with long emotional shots will help the
audience feel and understand the actors pain and the
emotion in the lyrics. As the video moves on further and
further there will be more shots of the actor down and
dealing with the emotions being expressed in the video.
Using this combined with the dark shots will really help
send home the idea of depression and needing the love he
craves. As the video reaches the end the video will go from
a close up to a very long shot of the actor on a high building
or area. The camera will fade to black on the last lyrics of
the music leaving the audience is suspense to see if the
lack of his love drives him to this point or if it drives him to
try again.

3. Narrative and Performance
The narrative will be the main element of this video it will be
present the full video to show the emotion in the story of the
song. The video will be mostly set in current time but there
may be a use of flashback to help express the emotion of
the artist love for this girl in the lyrics. The actor in the
narrative will not notice the camera it will totally be like the
viewer is watching a real man deal with his emotional
problems. The story of my video will be a man slowly losing
the will to move on because he can never seem to love the
woman he cares about, when the video comes to the end i
will leave it on a cliffhanger and let the audience decide if
the mand choose to carry on or leave the world which will
refuse the love he needs so desperately to show/give.
When coming up with this idea i first thought will this be too
depressing for the audience so because of this is i have left
in the idea he may have survived and also used flashes of
white and flash back to help show more lighter emotions
which are also in the lyrics.
Location,costume,props
The location for my video will be set in a high area
away from the city, somewhere in which one would
go to think. I have chosen this to help push the idea

4. that the actor is a real man who has done something a real
person would do to think about emotions and thoughts. He
has went to an area of isolation and quietness to help
himself clear his head. I may also use shots of the beach
and the sea this is also to help express the idea of him
thinking and trying to deal with the emotions. I will also use
a high area for the end of the video to help to help push the
last idea of will he take the last step or will he try again.
When looking at the costume and props for the video i will
not use any costumes for the videos since i am trying to
show the actor as a normal man so using anything other
than normal clothings will not help sell this idea, also it
could pull the audience out of the video. Also for props i will
only be using an alcohol bottle this will help sell the idea
that this man uses substance to deal with the emotions and
love for this woman.
Camera and editing
Most of my shots which are not of the actor lip
syncing will be long handheld shots, i will do this to
help display the emotion and also show the
audience a more realistic view of the actor. Instead
of the audience thinking they are watching a video they will
feel closer to the actor and the music. A running theme with
ED'S videos are narrative based video in which ed is a

5. character or doesn't notice the camera. When doing my
video i will try and lightly use this technique but also use my
own techniques. I will do this to make the video mine
without the audience seeing it and thinking i am copying the
original video. But also the narrative technique will help me
tell the story i want to show. When editing my shots i will
uses filters on my work to make the shot seem a lot or
darker and emotional, this will help express the emotion in
the music and make my video sync better. Also when
editing i may use a multi image shot, this is where i will take
the same shot and stack them on the screen at the same
time this will help express the emotion.
Light and colour
The light in my video will be mostly dark and low
lighting i have chosen this because i wish to show
the darker and more emotional side of the song and
i don't believe that a light and bright video will help
express this idea. When looking at the colour of my video i
have decided to use dark blacks with the sudden and light
use of whites this will be used to show the darkness it the
song and the white will contrast the black and show the
hope i some of the lyrics. The use of both these elements
will help me when doing my video to show the emotion in
the lyrics better ad also show the hope hidden in some of

6. the lyrics i wish to express to the audience. In my opening
and closing scene i will use heavy black this will show that
eve tho there is some hope that the artist will go back to the
loneliness by the end and this will help express the artist's
love for this woman more. By showing that he will go back
to black when she is gone shows the control she has over
his over all emotion and feelings.
