G321 Preliminary Task Evaluation
Name: Megan Bird
In a group with: Seyi Odusoga, Josh Parker & Adam Newton
Write about the preliminary task. What were you asked to do? How did you
find each stage of the process?
We were asked to direct, film and edit 5 rushes. (Establishing shot – walking
down the corridor, hand on door close up, walking through the door, sitting
down and shot/reverse shot)
Each stage of the process was straight forward, however the shot/reverse shot
was difficult to position.
Write the 3 techniques/rules you learnt about during the preliminary task:
-Not to break the 180o
line rule as it causes the audience to become confused if
broken in the wrong con text.
- How to set up a camera and tripod and how to use them.
-How to use the editing software.
List three things that went well during the filming/editing process:
-Managed to film and edit efficiently
- Carried out the task set
- Managed to direct and film the correct material
List three things you think could have been improved in these stages:
- Could’ve made the scene more interesting by developing the script and
using more interesting shots and camera angles.
- More concise and technical editing
-
Has the preliminary task given you any ideas for you 2-minute film
opening? If so, what? If not – think, then say 
-Some kind of mystery, use of handheld tracking shot and low key lighting.
