The author's music video uses flashbacks in color and black and white scenes, has a protagonist dancing and stretching alone, and shows her walking towards the camera singing. By using a mixture of conventions and new ideas, the author aims to make their music video feel unique while still like a conventional music video
Bhangra Music Videos Influencing our project AlishaDuggal
The document discusses various shots and techniques used in Bhangra music videos that influenced the project. Some of these influences include the use of colorful costumes, mid shots of singers interacting with the audience, titles appearing with the music, shots of friends dancing together, and different backgrounds around singers. Traditional Bhangra dancing emphasizes facial expressions of happiness and smiles. Some videos also incorporate love stories or arguments between couples. The introduction of characters usually involves mid shots and close ups that build anticipation for the music.
The document discusses the filmmaker's use of mise en scene in three key scenes of their film. In scene one, set in the past, close-ups of happy photos show Rachel's past happiness with friends to contrast with her present sadness. Costumes, music, and slow acting convey depression. Scene two uses wide shots and sunny lighting to depict Rachel's joyful memories in the park. Exaggerated acting conveys euphoria. The final scene uses dark lighting, dramatic acting, and an empty pill packet to build mystery and tension, culminating in a close-up of Rachel's dead body.
The document discusses the use of new technologies in the construction, research, planning, and evaluation stages of a music video project. Vegas Movie Studio was used to edit the video, adding effects, color balancing, and compositing a green screen. Adobe InDesign allowed creation of a digipak and poster by placing images on templates. Adobe Photoshop was used to edit images by cropping, transforming backgrounds, and adjusting color balance and exposure. Blogger presented the planning, research, designs, and evaluation by creating pages and choosing a background theme. Additional programs like Prezi, Slideshare, and Photobucket were used to add interest and share content online.
The document provides an analysis of various album covers including Taylor Swift's "Speak Now", Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto", Rihanna's "Loud", and Bruno Mars' "Doo-Wops & Hooligans". Key aspects analyzed include color schemes, graphics, images, fonts, and themes. The document concludes by stating that inspiration will be taken from the successful features of these covers to design a cover for a fictional artist Holly's first album release.
This document discusses codes and conventions in music videos. It explains that music videos use techniques like camera angles, movements, editing, sound, and mise-en-scene to portray genres and appeal to audiences. Two contrasting genres highlighted are heavy metal/rock videos, which use dark lighting and costumes to portray emotion, and R&B/pop videos, which feature wealthly settings and stylish costumes to showcase artists' performances and good lives. The document examines how different elements come together in music videos to represent genres recognizably.
Music videos have three main purposes: to market and advertise new songs and artists, allow audiences to recognize and remember songs, and portray an artist's vision for a song. Major record labels help promote and distribute music videos through various methods like advertising, celebrity endorsements, and incorporating songs into films. Famous music video directors like Jake Nava and Anthony Mandler work with top artists to craft memorable videos through techniques like close-ups, strong visuals matching lyrics, and narrative elements. Researching directors provides inspiration and knowledge of the music video industry.
The document summarizes what the author learned from their preliminary magazine cover and contents page task and how they applied those lessons to improve their main magazine task. Some key things the author learned were to use strong color schemes, eye-catching designs, quality images, and layers. They improved layout and spacing and made sure all areas had importance. For their main task, the author applied these lessons by creating a strong theme, separating information with headings, and using banners and boxes consistently. Overall, the author felt their understanding and techniques for creating an interesting magazine improved greatly through this project.
The document discusses the technologies and programs used to create a magazine project. It describes using Adobe Photoshop to edit images, including adjusting brightness, lighting, and cropping. Adobe InDesign was used to layout the magazine pages. Through this process, the author learned new skills with these programs and how to successfully use various tools. They have gained more knowledge and confidence in using technology after overcoming initial uncertainties in bringing their design ideas to life through digital means.
The document describes the process of designing a magazine cover called "SoundWave". It discusses choosing the title and slogan, experimenting with different logo designs using waves, and refining the layout over multiple drafts. The final design features the magazine's title in a bold font, banners highlighting the logo and slogan, and layered elements like a customized barcode. The designer is pleased with the overall professional and appealing result.
Q's magazine uses visual techniques like large bold fonts, varied font sizes, and prominent images to appeal to mature music fans. The layout organizes content into columns while keeping images prominent. Themes of music and branding are conveyed through the color scheme and trademark visual style.
The magazine uses various techniques to appeal to its target audience of 16-25 year olds. These include using eye-catching images of celebrities like Lilly Allen on the cover and inside pages. The layout allows the images to dominate the pages and draw readers in. Bold text is used for headlines and section names to guide readers through the content. The magazine also uses the language and style of interviews to appeal to fans of artists like Lilly Allen.
The document analyzes the front cover of a school magazine. It notes that smiling people are only shown in a few places, which may not entice readers. The title is underlined to emphasize that it is the school magazine. Images are laid out across the top in a banner to group the photos. The front cover design is the same throughout the magazine without variation to add interest.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
