Eye contact and interaction with audience is a good
thing to include and so, after critiquing Rihanna’s
video for Only Girl (In The World), I found the
technique of the camera moving around the artist

The example above was a re-occurring motif as

this line.
Below is some examples of close up lip-syncing in
real dance music videos - Delilah, Katy B and

While researching existing products I came across one that features a female character in both
beach and forest locations and so this was inspirational to me. As you can see the spinning
around on the beach is a movement similar to mine as well as running through the forest below...

I really loved this image from Birdy’s image as it
really captures the emotions of the song and so I
really wanted to do something similar in order to
convey the character’s more thoughtful side.

her picking the petals is symbolic of her feelings.

images/camera The spinning in the flashback connotes innocence and
young love which I thought was important to feature as it
shows how naive and immature the relationship may have
been which could have been a contributor to why it ended.
This example is from the ‘Video Games’ video which uses lots
of old footage to create a feeling of nostalgia. As she is writing
about a past relationship I think it is interesting to note her
inclusion of similar images such as a young girl spinning
around as it shows that it is a good image to use to get across
                                                      innocence.

Kissing is also featured a lot in love songs and so
in my flashback sequence I’ve featured some
kissing so that it is obvious to the audience that
they were in a loving relationship before they
broke up. The example I’ve used is from dance
music group Nero’s video for ‘Crush On You’.
sound
For the introductory flashback sequence I used an
acoustic version of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep before
fading into the remix. Many artists use an introductory
or concluding monologue or differing piece of music
from the main song as well including these two
examples... We Found Love by Rihanna

Diegetic sound can also be heard during the title sequence The One That Got Away by Katy Perry
and the ending as the sounds of the beach can be heard
including the waves breaking. This technique of hearing
the sounds of the location is often used in real media
products as it helps to establish the feel of the location.
