Music videos can fall into a category of either performance or narrative which is more of a rarity,
whereas music videos are most commonly a mixture of both. The genre of the song ‘bad
romance’ is considered to be a mixture of dance, pop and electro pop, due to the genre, the
music video could have been based on full performance as this is most stereotypically linked
with dance music.
However the video consisted of an equal amount of performance, including repetitive
chorography in time with the chorus and narrative that including clinical theme. The
performance side of the video ran throughout the whole video linking the different narrative
scenes together, also the repeating of the choreography created more of a strong statement
of power.
Lady gaga in the video does portray a different style of character of a mentally ill patient,
compared to what's usually associated with a mainstream pop artist which is the sex appeal
which targets both males ad female, although the costume choices in the video exhibits sex
appeal as the outfits are tight fitting and frequently resemble lingerie. The different accepts
to the video broadens out the range of audiences, as people that may not consider
themselves to be a fan of mainstream pop will enjoy the strange and rare twist of a pop
