A Separate Peace Movie Vs Book
There are so many changes between the book and the movie. The book was a lot better than the movie
I think. When a producer makes a movie out of a book, they take the most interesting things from the
book and just erase the rest of it. Us book lovers absolutely hate when they go to watch a movie based
off a book they love and they leave out the most important details. The book first opens up with Frank
Bryce s history, about how he was accused of murdering the Riddle family he worked for, many years
ago. This is omitted from the movie. Bertha Jorkins, the Ministry employee that Wormtail and
Voldemort capture and question, and who gives Voldemort the information about the Triwizard
Tournament being placed at Hogwarts is also not in the movie. ... Show more content on

Weasley gives Ron his dress robes before the start of school, but as Mrs. Weasley is omitted from this
movie, Ron gets his dress robes by post and Errol delivers them to him while in the Great Hall. Colin
and Dennis Creevey are omitted from the movie. In the book, when they first arrive at school Peeves
is throwing water balloons at the students as they are gathered in the hall, and they see the sorting
ceremony for the new first years, but this is omitted from the movie. In the book, the Sorting Hat sings
a new song about the history of Hogwarts and the Founders which is not shown in the movie. The
arrival of the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons schools occurs on 30th of October and not on the 1st of
September as in the movie. Padma Patil is in Ravenclaw and not in Gryffindor. Malfoy as a ferret
scene is very extended in the movie. In the movie, Moody demonstrates the three Unforgivable Curses
on a single spider, ultimately killing it. In the book, he uses a different spider for each one, and later is
also shown using the Imperius Curse on students in order to teach them how to overcome its effects.
Madame Maxime is said to be the same height as Hagrid, while in the movie she s noticeable taller.
The movie implies that Durmstrang is an all boy school and Beauxbatons all girl, the book however,
portraits both school as mixed gender schools, as a boy is shown in Beauxbatons and a girl is shown in
Durmstrang. Neither school does any presentation when they arrive. Fleur Delacour as a part Veela is
omitted. Probably because the Veela and all the explanations given about them at the World Cup are
also not present. Also, the Beauxbatons pupils are rather unhappy about being at Hogwarts. Fred and
George are not the only students to try to find a way around the age line on the Goblet of Fire. When
Harry s name comes out of the Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore remains very calm, he asks Harry if he did
it, to which Harry replies no . Draco and his fellow Slytherins

Cannabis In Canada
Abstract
Cannabis use, though still somewhat stigmatized in the media, is among one of the fastest growing
trends in Canada among youths and adults alike. The evidence I have gathered through statistical
analysis and secondary research shows that cannabis has become the recreational drug of choice
among Canadians. This is due to a host of factors. One of these factors is a record breaking positive
public perception of cannabis among Canadians. The way the public perceives a drug is very
important, and for something as taboo as cannabis to be accepted by the public and the media takes
time and effort. This struggle to increase the positive perception of cannabis among Canadians has
paid off greatly, displayed in national surveys where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sandberg, S. (2011, August 3) The Department of Sociology and Human Geography in Norway did a
study on the public perception of marijuana among Norwegians who part take. A study done on 100
cannabis users saw that their perception of the drug was either neutral or positive. Unlike tobacco
users or alcoholics, cannabis users don t see much of a problem with using weed (another slang term
for cannabis). They don t seem to understand that smoking this product can have similar effects on
their lungs as cigarettes (though not as destructive). The idea that teens do drugs to rebel against
society is actually un true, the exact opposite is true. When cannabis is talked about so positively in
the media and among politicians, it actually makes teenagers think the drug is safe and subconsciously
encourages them to do it. Alcohol and cigarettes aren t looked at so positively in society, and thus the
use of these drugs among youths is falling dramatically (yes, even alcohol). They see these drugs as
life threatening, manmade chemicals ingested by older folk, while cannabis is seen as this great, all
natural remedy to many ailments in life (depression, anxiety, appetite loss, insomnia, etc). Though
much of marijuana s positive attributes are supported by science, there are some misconceptions that
leave teens with the wrong ideas about cannabis, such as marijuana has no negative mental effects on
the user. This lax approach to the

Similarities Between Easter And Greek Easter
Come every April, I would throw on my clothes and run out to our Dolmades tree to pick leaves to
prepare for our traditional dinner. My grandfather grew up in Sparta Greece. He grew up celebrating a
different occasion that most people do not. Most families across the world, celebrate a tradition known
as Easter. The whole family comes over, turkey and mashed potatoes are spread out all over the table,
and you re waiting for the moment your mom tells you that it s time to eat. However, my family is
different. Instead of celebrating Easter we celebrate Greek Easter. Both are quite similar in ways but
have very different traditional values and most importantly, food.
Initially, my grandfather would celebrate Greek Easter when he was a child and then brought the
tradition to my family. However, the food prepared wasn t easily accessible to him when he was a
child. Growing up in Greece, food and money were scarce. To add, he grew up during World War I,
soldiers would scavenge through his village frequently. Roaming house to house taking any supplies
and food they could get their hands on. With that being said, in order to celebrate Greek Easter, he had
to find leaves, rice, and all the essential needs to prepare the food. Walking through town barefoot, he
would only find limited supplies to make the food. Like Jonathan Safran Foer said in Storytelling In
the forests of Europe, she ate to stay alive until the next opportunity to eat to stay alive again. In

The Corleonesi Research Paper
The Corleonesi was a mafia group whose leaders were originated from Corleone, Italy. The main
leader Luciano Leggio. Leggio started out working for Micele Navarra. While under Navarra, Leggio
s murder of Placido Rizzotto, a resistance veteran, is on the most noteworthy murders of a political
figure in the years after the war. This murder shows just the beginning brutality of what was yet to
come of Leggio and the Corleonesi. Leggio hid from authority after the murdering Rizzotto, and due
to his skill at staying away from justice, he was given the nickname Scarlet Pimpernel . Much like the
brutality shown in his murder of Rizzotto, his secretiveness and concealment would also become areas
that the Corleonesi would become known for. Leggio, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Continuing with the theme of violence, the Corleonesi attacked and killed three of Navarra s best
fighters in the middle of Corleone, while also injuring innocent bystanders. His violence and coup
against the established bosses was not something commonly done; furthermore, it displayed that the
power of group lie with its military prowess, rather than their political influence. The Corleonesi
functioned under the plan of using devastating violence to get what they want while suffering short
term political loss. The Corleonesi continued their fight against the Navarra and as they were about to
claim victory against the Navarra, the Ciaculli car bomb went off which led to mass arrests of mafia
members, including Leggio. Leggio s trial is carried out very similar to the ways of other mafia trails,
such as Notarbartolo s murder trial, where evidence is lost, and defendants do not talk, which then
ultimately lead to the mafioso not getting convicted. After not getting convicted, he would continue
his work in the mafia, by becoming one of the leaders of the Commission when it was

Welcome Speech For High School
Hello, and welcome to High School, this is where you send your kids every day for us to watch. We
can assure you that after they walk through the school doors, they will happily be greeted with a heard
of students eager to learn, just a wonderful way to start off the day if you ask me! Not many people
know this, but public schools are really scheduled so that they make sure students are the most run
down and least focused. We find this helps students with fully unlocking their subconscious mind and
learning through it their full potential. It has been shown that students will learn more and retain
information when their brains are not functioning, so we make sure our students are up all hours
finishing homework so that their brains are tired the next day and can easily retain new information.
Then there is our athletics program, not only does it keep your kids in shape , they also learn how
things in life aren t fair as well as many life skills. Running a mile for every letter in a curse word
spoken by the student really builds character. What s more, is when a student is caught smoking he or
she simply sits out allowing them to really learn their lesson. Students have shown to also build speed
and endurance with the threat of being kicked out of the athletic program looming over their heads. In
addition, the lack of sanitation in the weight room allows for students to catch things like Staph so that
their immune system learns how to fight infections just like the students

Analysis of Wedgewood´s The Thirty Years War Essay
Wedgwood, C.V. The Thirty Years War. London: Lowe Brydone Ltd, 1938. Print. It is difficult to
determine when the Thirty Years War really began. Ultimately, a culmination of events led to the
tension between the countries of the Ottoman Empire. Prior to the war s beginning on May 23, 1618,
Europe was in a state of religious, political, and imperial turmoil. The Lutherans, Catholics, and
Calvinists were all competing for religious dominance. Political leaders tried to advocate for their
religions in the elections. There was much controversy regarding the new kings of Bohemia and

Although Wedgwood mentions the incident, she doesn t emphasize it being a huge turning point with
regard to the conflicts in Germany. The extraordinary chance which had saved three lives was a holy
miracle or a comic accident according to the religion of the beholder, but it had no political
significance (Wedgwood p. 79). The Denfenstration of Prague is the initial event that instigated the
tension because it was a rebellion. People became angry and fought for what they thought was right.
Frederick and Ferdinand began to raise their own armies by asking for help from other European
countries. Ferdinand received assistance from Maximilian of Bavaria. In Western Civilizaton, it also
mentions him getting help from Spain. He ensured this help by promising Frederick s lands to them.
Wedgwood explains that this could be considered unconstitutional according to the Peace of
Augsburg. Ferdinand signed this document declaring that German liberties would be observed in
1555. This means that each country can have its own religion if it s Catholic or Lutheran and that they
are the Electors for the empire. If the German princes do not consent to the impeachment of Frederick
as Bohemian king, then giving the land away is stealing. Frederick asked England for support,
especially since he was married to the English King s daughter Elizabeth. Unfortunately, the king had
declined any

Roosevelt s Rule For Unrestrained Reform
With most urban growth in the developing world concentrated in the squatter settlements, it can be
contrasted to the masses of growth received and predicted in developed countries. Numerous factors
draw people towards cities such as; better employment and educational opportunities, hospital and
health care facilities and overall better living standards. With interconnected challenges constantly
arising, many ambitious planning and development schemes are projected to the government. Many
inhabitants lack belief in these authorities; hence Roosevelt devised a rule for unrestrained reform,
which emphasised, that undivided power helps to prevent the forces that benefit from the status quo
from blocking change (Glaeser E., 2011). Although often forceful

Holmes was able to live off campus, but due to school policy, Hunter was not; consequently, the
University placed her in her own private suite in one of the dorms, where she would have as little
contact with white students as possible (91). The night after the pair s first day of classes, students

Explain The Influence Of Homer s Odyssey On Margaret Atwood
Explain the influence of Homer s Odyssey on Margaret Atwood.
Margaret Atwood said that after reading The Odyssey she had two questions; what led to the hanging
of the maids and what was Penelope really up to? . In writing The Penelopiad, she felt she was able to
answer those questions. The Odyssey is from Odysseus point of view, recorded by Homer, but is not
the only version of the story as it was mainly handed down through generations orally, which can lead
to details being changed. She wanted to tell the story from a different angle, Penelope s point of view.
Homer s Odyssey was a significant influence on Atwood. However, she also used other historical
records of the story of Odysseus journey. I have drawn on details other than the ... Show more content

She also wanted to tell the twelve maids story of their lives and the events leading up to their deaths.
The Penelopiad was intended for a modern, young female audience. The Novella was written in recent
times so the thought process around the value of women has change significantly. Women now have a
more equal standing in society than they did when The Odyssey was recorded. This is demonstrated in
the novella by Penelope s intelligence and strong character.
Explain reasons for the different portrayals of Odysseus, of Penelope and of the twelve maidservants.
In The Odyssey, Odysseus is depicted as a strong, brave husband and father. He can sleep with whom
he pleases, he hides some truth from his fellow men. I did not mention the inescapable horror of
Scylla, fearing that in their panic my men might stop rowing and huddle below decks. Odysseus gets
angry when he returns home after twenty years of being away and the Suitors are in his home,
courting his wife. Odysseus is the king of Ithaca, he is the father of Telemachus and husband of
Penelope. Odysseus is described as an excellent warrior and a brave hero. You are hard, man,
Odysseus. Your force is greater, your limbs ever wear out. You must be made all of Iron. He is the
paterfamilias of the household.
In The Penelopiad, Penelope talks about their wedding night where Odysseus says Forget everything

The Battle of Fredricksburg Essay
The Battle of Fredricksburg In the next pages I will explain why Fredericksburg was such a tragedy.
Why it was a big morale booster for the South, but a disappointment for the North? It all started in the
year 1862. General George McCellen currently controls the army of the Potomac. When it was
determined that McCellen was a bad general, in December of 1862 he was replaced with General
Ambrose Burnside. Within a week, Burnside decided on a campaign to the Southern capitol,
Richmond. He told his plans to Lincoln and Lincoln approved, but told Burnside the only way for a
win was to move quickly. Burnside split his group into three grand divisions, each with two corps.

Burnside had Generals Sumner and Hooker as his help. Burnside, Sumner, and Hooker were on one
side of the railroad with 10 regiments and on the other side of the railroad was General Franklin with
eight regiments. Burnside also had one regiment of engineers to build the pontoons to cross the river.
(See Map 1) While Burnside had been waiting for two weeks he saw how the Confederates were
positioned; even though the Confederates had the advantage he still believed he could win. The night
before Burnside was going to start building the pontoons, he sent a message to Lincoln saying, We
hope to succeed. So, on the night of Wednesday, December 10, 1862, the engineers started to build the
pontoons. However, another general from the South, General Will Barkslade, was right above the area
where the engineers were and whenever a soldier went to check on the progress of the pontoons, the
Confederates would shoot at them. Now that everything was off schedule, Burnside knew that the
Confederate general was getting ready to attack. So, Burnside ordered Brigadier General Henry to
take 147 heavy caliber guns and shoot at the Confederates at Stafford Heights. The shooting lasted for
an hour. During that hour, 70 solid shots were fired a minute and that firing destroyed the town of
Fredericksburg instead of the Confederates. General Barksdale was still there to intercept the bridge

Glissade Research Paper
Le Glissade
The Glissade is a part of common Ballet choreography. It is a move that allows dancers to transport
themselves through time and music. This move thrills the body and its instruments are the legs. While
sitting in our seats what we see is grace. Music is playing and people are moving graciously to the
beat. When we first look at it, it seems like this is an easy move because of how effortlessly the
dancers move. However, by carefully watching dancers, we realize that this is a complex move that
requires planning, quick thinking, rhythm and control of the body. On the stage, what unfolds is a
wonderful story full of grace, strength and meaning for life and nature. The glissade is an image of

degree off the floor, the dancer pushes off the supporting foot and extends it to the side. Then both leg

in relation to your capacity to demonstrate leadership. I learnt that not all leaders are born but they are
made. Some persons are born with the traits to be a leader but through experience, they would
blossom into a true leader. This class showed me that I can become a leader and it showed me the
possible traits a good leader should possess such as, being inclusive, honest and respectful. All these

Describe the leadership philosophy you have developed throughout this class. My Leadership
Philosophy is based on the principals that I have learned throughout this leadership and ethics class.
Leadership is about creating an environment that brings out the best in people, accomplishing goals,
and making each individual and the team successful. The following is my leadership philosophy: The
foundation of my leadership philosophy is built on trust, respect and integrity. I plan to earn your trust
and respect by being of good character, working hard, listening attentively, being decisive, honest and
true to my word, and never asking you to do something that I would not do myself. You can earn my
trust and respect by being honest and of good character, making sound and timely decisions and
owning up to your mistakes. Finally, I welcome diverse perspectives, differences of opinion and I do
not necessarily view disagreement as a sign of disloyalty. 4. How has it changed from the beginning of

Similarities Between Freak The Mighty And Freak The Mighty
Freak the Mighty and Killers of the Dream are two very different novels one being fiction and the
latter being nonfiction but they share a common ground by depicting the struggles of certain
marginalized groups. Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick tells the story of Max, a self proclaimed
butthead , and Kevin, a boy with Morquio Syndrome. On the other hand, Killers of the Dream by
Lillian Smith focuses on why and how the white South treated black people during the late 1800s and
early 1900s. While reading these two novels, the reader gets a sense of how these specific
marginalized groups responded to the prejudice that alienates them from society. Both novels show
examples of the disenfranchised creating their own supportive ... Show more content on

One example is the lady insurrectionists of the South, specifically the white women, who spoke out
against sexism and some discrimination of black people. The chapter titled The Women states, They
[the women] said calmly that they were not afraid of being raped... they did not need the chivalry of a
lynching to protect them and did not want it. Not only that, they continued, but they would personally
do everything in their power to keep any Negro [sic] from being lynched... (145). Furthermore, these
lady insurrectionists continued to progress, such as going against southern tradition, creating an
Association of Southern Women for the prevention of Lynching (146), and breaking bread with fellow
men of other color (147). Both the white women and the women of color, despite their major
differences and resentment, decided that in order to move forward in social justice, they would first
have to eat meals together and come together in order to work together. Unfortunately, there are two
sides to every coin. The poor whites of the South may have built a community among themselves, but
unlike the communities built in Freak the Mighty and the lady insurrectionists and black women, they
did not reach out to help other prejudiced groups. The South s poor whites were not as disadvantaged
as the previously mentioned groups, for they were fed their privileges by the rich white Southern man.

Coordination Plan
3. Coordination Plan There is a multitude of reasons for an organization to have a business continuity
plan in place. The incident does not really matter whether it is natural or manmade disaster/incident
but if an incident occurs, it can have a disastrous effect causing the company operation to become
unstable and having the inability to contain or control its impact can halt the business routine (Vacca,
2013).
Also, creating a good working relationship with the law enforcement can assist in aiding an
organization with an incident. Although organizations will sometimes not notify or include LE with

Use of advanced security information and event management solution is in place in order to capture
any anomaly or detect nefarious activities within the network (Abelar, 2014).
Other considerations to take to make sure that network intrusion is detected and/mitigated is by
constantly monitoring the network for any anomalies and having an alert/notification system. Alert
and notification system will allow for the organizations incident response team/plan to be activated

Additionally, organization needs to have in depth defense security architecture to protect their

Abortion, An Issue With Its New Expansion Of Abortion...
Today, abortion has become another political issue, rather than the intimate choice of a woman.
Abortion isn t a new issue because in the case, Roe vs. Wade, the court s decision was the first step,
where women could do as they wish with their body in a safe, legal manner. So why, after forty one
years since this case was passed is abortion an issue again? Abortion is often presented as if it is new
and people have just started doing it years ago, when in reality the practice of abortion has dated back
to ancient times. Abortion is the trending topic once again because The Affordable Care Act , also
known as Obama care , has made abortion an issue with its new expansion of abortion coverage. This
paper will examine all of the harmful ways abortions can harm your body and also how they may
affect you in a positive and in a negative way. Also, it helps you understand why people decide to get
an abortion and the government has made abortion such a popular topic. Even though you may not
agree with the decision of abortion, you have to have an open mind to other people s decisions and
opinions towards them.

Summary Of Amusing Ourselves To Death By Neil Postman
In Amusing Ourselves To Death, Neil Postman explains identifying qualities for those who lived in the
Age of Exposition. (63) He believes that between the eighteenth and the nineteenth century American
s had a Typographic Mind. (44) Qualities such as attention span and listening ability are just a few
examples of the deep understanding they had of the world around them. Neil Postman proves his point
through examples of law, advertising, and religion. The first of four qualities Postman describes is
most easily explained as polysemy. To Neil Postman, the use of literary language in speech correlates
to the general public s understanding of this style of phrasing. He states, ...the use of language as a

Back to Edwards, ...he spent long hours each day in his study... (54) Postman uses this to present that
the devotion to knowledge seemed to be what drove the length of attention up. In regards to
advertising, Neil Postman goes on, ...when the first paid advertisement appeared in an American
newspaper, The Boston News Letter. These were three in number occupying altogether four inches of
single column space. (58) This leads Postman to believe that people of the time had the ability to keep
their attention on long advertisements, most of which not for things of sale. Another example, Paul
Revere placed the following advertisement in the Boston Gazette: ... Revere went on to explain in
another paragraph... (59) Again, this is another lengthy ad providing evidence of longer attention
spans. The fourth and final quality is how well they could understand the issues presented. Neil
Postman states, The Lincoln Douglas audience apparently had a considerable grasp of the issues being
debated, including knowledge of historical events and complex political matters.... All of which would
have been rhetorically pointless unless the audience was familiar... (46) In other words, Postman is
saying people of that time had extensive previous knowledge prior to entering the

Identity And The Search For The Self Among The Sub...
Chapter One
Theorising Identity and The Search for The Self among the sub continental Diaspora in Britain
Identity has always been a problematic area of interrogation epistemologically, existentially and
politically and it continues to propel our thought. Etymologically, the term is derived from Latin word
Idem meaning same (Oxford Online Dictionary) which means specific quality or condition of being a
specific person or an object . A person s identity is determined in terms of his/her inherited traditions,
particularly the inherited religion of the community in which they happen to be born, the place and

The concept of Identity has been defined and studied in different fields of studies ranging from
Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology and Cultural Studies.
Recent trends in Psychology on Identity Theory: In the recent past identity is seen as a self narrative
which is held as the base for the construct of a person s identity. The behaviour in salience to the
social setting is the base of identity formation. The Identity Theory (Stryker 1968, 1980, 1989; Stryker
and Serpe 1982, Mc Calls and Simmons 1978, R.H. Turner 1978) explains social behaviour in terms
of the reciprocal relationship between the self and the society . The term is used to define the links
between a multifaceted notion of the self and wider social structure. (Burke 1980; Mc Call and
Simmons 1978; R.H. Turner 1978). It is an extension of the symbolic interactionist theory postulated
by Mead (1934) and Blumer (1969) that society influences social behaviour through its affects on the
self (Micheal A Hogg, et al.). However, the Identity theory rejects the symbolic interactionist theory as
relatively undifferentiated, co operative whole (Stryker 1980, 1987; Stryker and Serpe 1982) and
argues that society is complexly differentiated, but nevertheless organized (Stryker and Serpe
1982:206) and thus predicated the idea of the

Rhinovirus Inducing Wheezing And Asthma Exacerbation In Children
A respiratory viral infection plays a major role in important aspects of asthma and its exacerbation;
which is nearly associated for about 80% of overall respiratory condition. Viral pathogen associated
with wheezing includes Human Rhinovirus (HRV), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Parainfluenza,
and coronavirus (Busse Lemanske. 2010).
Rhinovirus is associated with common colds that may cause sore throat, sinus infection, ear infection
and to some degree of bronchiolitis and pneumonia (American Academy of Pediatrics. 2015). This
type of cold can happen at any time of the year but most common during winter or spring. The goal of
managing Rhinovirus is to prevent exacerbation in children, preventing the disease excludes the
ability of the exacerbating asthma for fatal outcome.
The purpose of the paper is to critically assess and manage using recently published guidelines on

Rhinovirus.
Epidemiology, signs and symptoms of rhinovirus, asthma and asthma exacerbation Asthma is the most
common chronic disorders in all age group, there is about 7.1 million of children each year were

Emotional Intelligence and Nursing
Emotional Intelligences and Reflective Practice are Integral Components of Building a Therapeutic

Research Paper: Intel, Monopolies, and Corruption
Throughout the last 50 or so years, tech companies have risen and fall, gaining fame and power, and
marking their names in history book for achieving momentous tasks, often in which can still be seen
today. Intel is not an exception to this trend; in fact, the mega corporation is a prime example of what
American tech giants look like: Intel has their hand in essentially every market dealing with computer
components, from memory and memory controllers, to accelerators, to their main attraction, Central
Processing Units, or CPU s, for Desktops, Laptops, and Servers. Not only does Intel have vast reach in
the computer component market, but they have complete control of not only their production process,
being for the most part self contained. From mining necessary resources, to shipping out their
complete products from factories to their recipients, whether that be a store or an OEM. Intel is truly
one of the most successful, if not the most successful Tech giant involved with Computer hardware.
However, they only got to this place through nefarious actions, such as breaking contracts, playing the
courts to their advantage, throwing their weight around, regardless of the legality of it, to meet their
bottom lines. Considering that Intel is at such a high position, and has pretty much always existed at a
fairly high position in the market, why? This paper will set out to find out the

The Epic Of Gilgamesh Essay
Tonisia Tutt Professor Andre World Literature 1 October 11, 2015 The Epic of Gilgamesh does not
quite have a happy end. Truthfully, Gilgamesh is not successful in his mission. It is shortsighted and
deceived to expect that Gilgamesh, the saint, must be effective in his journey to hold the
characteristics of courage. An unsuccessful journey not harsh any more than a courageous ending is
essentially joyful. For recognitions of this, we need to look no more distant than the plenty of
thoughtful legends of great writing the stories of Homer, Virgil s Aeneid, and even Beowulf of the
Anglo Saxon abstract convention. The Illiad end with the slaughter of Troy and the passing of
Achilles. The Odyssey, in spite of the fact that it sees the saint restored home, in any case includes an
entirely tough cost. The Aeneid, in like manner, shows in disaster. Like Achilles, Odysseus, Aeneas,
and various other exemplary legends, Gilgamesh too shows those qualities vital to an ordinary
scholarly saint, none of which needs to do, truth be told, with the unique idea of pleasure. In spite of
the fact that achievement is quite unimportant to the bravery of a specific journey, maybe the first
indicate considered in Gilgamesh is that the legend might really make progress. His level of progress
depends to a limited extent on what he needs to accomplish and what he accomplish. Given the
included creative component of the epic that they are developments of one or more creators the

of nature, Harrison Ford. Climate change is a hotly debated topic in our world. There are those who
believe humanity is causing the changes we are currently experiencing. Additionally, there are groups
disputing the claim, citing research that states the climate goes through cyclic periods of warming and
cooling. Several groups have a part in the debate surrounding the causes of climate change, creating
further confusion for the general public. There is evidence supporting each side, though at this time
there is not enough to make a definitive conclusion. The greenhouse effect is the retaining of solar
energy in the atmosphere that heats the planet. This is necessary for life to thrive, though causes issues

the current changes in climate, although there are other natural elements to be considered for effective

The Extent to which You Think the Gothic Novel Represents...
To what extent do you think that the Gothic novel represents recognisably modern anxieties?
Since the 1800 s, vampires have often found their way into literature, legends, and popular culture.
The vampire s first appearance in Gothic fiction came from John Polidori s publication, The Vampyre
in 1819, and from then the fascination of the vampire and gothic literature as a whole grew and can be
viewed as a commentary on the period of time in which it was written. The strong image of the
vampire is a strong metaphor for communicating the zeitgeist of the time. By analysing Bram Stoker
s, Dracula (1897) and Sheridan Le Fanu s, Carmilla (1872), as both novels are very important as they
both helped mainstream vampire literature and created characters that have remained popular for over
a century. An examination into these texts and the significance of the vampire on modern anxieties and
anxieties of the time can be understood. In order to do this an analysis will be placed upon the main
themes within both texts, such as degeneration, patriarchy, gender and class.
The use of vampires within Carmilla and Dracula can be seen as significant in representing
colonialism and the worries of degeneration that were established towards the Fin de siècle of the
nineteenth century. Both texts present the hierarchy of civilisations through binary opposites such as
the West being presented as good and light, and the unknown and mysterious East being described as
negative, mysterious and

  • 2. A Separate Peace Movie Vs Book There are so many changes between the book and the movie. The book was a lot better than the movie I think. When a producer makes a movie out of a book, they take the most interesting things from the book and just erase the rest of it. Us book lovers absolutely hate when they go to watch a movie based off a book they love and they leave out the most important details. The book first opens up with Frank Bryce s history, about how he was accused of murdering the Riddle family he worked for, many years ago. This is omitted from the movie. Bertha Jorkins, the Ministry employee that Wormtail and Voldemort capture and question, and who gives Voldemort the information about the Triwizard Tournament being placed at Hogwarts is also not in the movie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weasley gives Ron his dress robes before the start of school, but as Mrs. Weasley is omitted from this movie, Ron gets his dress robes by post and Errol delivers them to him while in the Great Hall. Colin and Dennis Creevey are omitted from the movie. In the book, when they first arrive at school Peeves is throwing water balloons at the students as they are gathered in the hall, and they see the sorting ceremony for the new first years, but this is omitted from the movie. In the book, the Sorting Hat sings a new song about the history of Hogwarts and the Founders which is not shown in the movie. The arrival of the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons schools occurs on 30th of October and not on the 1st of September as in the movie. Padma Patil is in Ravenclaw and not in Gryffindor. Malfoy as a ferret scene is very extended in the movie. In the movie, Moody demonstrates the three Unforgivable Curses on a single spider, ultimately killing it. In the book, he uses a different spider for each one, and later is also shown using the Imperius Curse on students in order to teach them how to overcome its effects. Madame Maxime is said to be the same height as Hagrid, while in the movie she s noticeable taller. The movie implies that Durmstrang is an all boy school and Beauxbatons all girl, the book however, portraits both school as mixed gender schools, as a boy is shown in Beauxbatons and a girl is shown in Durmstrang. Neither school does any presentation when they arrive. Fleur Delacour as a part Veela is omitted. Probably because the Veela and all the explanations given about them at the World Cup are also not present. Also, the Beauxbatons pupils are rather unhappy about being at Hogwarts. Fred and George are not the only students to try to find a way around the age line on the Goblet of Fire. When Harry s name comes out of the Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore remains very calm, he asks Harry if he did it, to which Harry replies no . Draco and his fellow Slytherins ... • 3. Cannabis In Canada Abstract Cannabis use, though still somewhat stigmatized in the media, is among one of the fastest growing trends in Canada among youths and adults alike. The evidence I have gathered through statistical analysis and secondary research shows that cannabis has become the recreational drug of choice among Canadians. This is due to a host of factors. One of these factors is a record breaking positive public perception of cannabis among Canadians. The way the public perceives a drug is very important, and for something as taboo as cannabis to be accepted by the public and the media takes time and effort. This struggle to increase the positive perception of cannabis among Canadians has paid off greatly, displayed in national surveys where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sandberg, S. (2011, August 3) The Department of Sociology and Human Geography in Norway did a study on the public perception of marijuana among Norwegians who part take. A study done on 100 cannabis users saw that their perception of the drug was either neutral or positive. Unlike tobacco users or alcoholics, cannabis users don t see much of a problem with using weed (another slang term for cannabis). They don t seem to understand that smoking this product can have similar effects on their lungs as cigarettes (though not as destructive). The idea that teens do drugs to rebel against society is actually un true, the exact opposite is true. When cannabis is talked about so positively in the media and among politicians, it actually makes teenagers think the drug is safe and subconsciously encourages them to do it. Alcohol and cigarettes aren t looked at so positively in society, and thus the use of these drugs among youths is falling dramatically (yes, even alcohol). They see these drugs as life threatening, manmade chemicals ingested by older folk, while cannabis is seen as this great, all natural remedy to many ailments in life (depression, anxiety, appetite loss, insomnia, etc). Though much of marijuana s positive attributes are supported by science, there are some misconceptions that leave teens with the wrong ideas about cannabis, such as marijuana has no negative mental effects on the user. • 4. Similarities Between Easter And Greek Easter Come every April, I would throw on my clothes and run out to our Dolmades tree to pick leaves to prepare for our traditional dinner. My grandfather grew up in Sparta Greece. He grew up celebrating a different occasion that most people do not. Most families across the world, celebrate a tradition known as Easter. The whole family comes over, turkey and mashed potatoes are spread out all over the table, and you re waiting for the moment your mom tells you that it s time to eat. However, my family is different. Instead of celebrating Easter we celebrate Greek Easter. Both are quite similar in ways but have very different traditional values and most importantly, food. Initially, my grandfather would celebrate Greek Easter when he was a child and then brought the tradition to my family. However, the food prepared wasn t easily accessible to him when he was a child. Growing up in Greece, food and money were scarce. To add, he grew up during World War I, soldiers would scavenge through his village frequently. Roaming house to house taking any supplies and food they could get their hands on. With that being said, in order to celebrate Greek Easter, he had to find leaves, rice, and all the essential needs to prepare the food. Walking through town barefoot, he would only find limited supplies to make the food. Like Jonathan Safran Foer said in Storytelling In the forests of Europe, she ate to stay alive until the next opportunity to eat to stay alive again. In America, fifty years ... Leggio started out working for Micele Navarra. While under Navarra, Leggio s murder of Placido Rizzotto, a resistance veteran, is on the most noteworthy murders of a political figure in the years after the war. This murder shows just the beginning brutality of what was yet to come of Leggio and the Corleonesi. Leggio hid from authority after the murdering Rizzotto, and due to his skill at staying away from justice, he was given the nickname Scarlet Pimpernel . Much like the brutality shown in his murder of Rizzotto, his secretiveness and concealment would also become areas that the Corleonesi would become known for. Leggio, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Continuing with the theme of violence, the Corleonesi attacked and killed three of Navarra s best fighters in the middle of Corleone, while also injuring innocent bystanders. His violence and coup against the established bosses was not something commonly done; furthermore, it displayed that the power of group lie with its military prowess, rather than their political influence. The Corleonesi functioned under the plan of using devastating violence to get what they want while suffering short term political loss. The Corleonesi continued their fight against the Navarra and as they were about to claim victory against the Navarra, the Ciaculli car bomb went off which led to mass arrests of mafia members, including Leggio. Leggio s trial is carried out very similar to the ways of other mafia trails, such as Notarbartolo s murder trial, where evidence is lost, and defendants do not talk, which then ultimately lead to the mafioso not getting convicted. After not getting convicted, he would continue his work in the mafia, by becoming one of the leaders of the Commission when it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Welcome Speech For High School Hello, and welcome to High School, this is where you send your kids every day for us to watch. We can assure you that after they walk through the school doors, they will happily be greeted with a heard of students eager to learn, just a wonderful way to start off the day if you ask me! Not many people know this, but public schools are really scheduled so that they make sure students are the most run down and least focused. We find this helps students with fully unlocking their subconscious mind and learning through it their full potential. It has been shown that students will learn more and retain information when their brains are not functioning, so we make sure our students are up all hours finishing homework so that their brains are tired the next day and can easily retain new information. Then there is our athletics program, not only does it keep your kids in shape , they also learn how things in life aren t fair as well as many life skills. Running a mile for every letter in a curse word spoken by the student really builds character. What s more, is when a student is caught smoking he or she simply sits out allowing them to really learn their lesson. Students have shown to also build speed and endurance with the threat of being kicked out of the athletic program looming over their heads. In addition, the lack of sanitation in the weight room allows for students to catch things like Staph so that their immune system learns how to fight infections just like the students ... It is difficult to determine when the Thirty Years War really began. Ultimately, a culmination of events led to the tension between the countries of the Ottoman Empire. Prior to the war s beginning on May 23, 1618, Europe was in a state of religious, political, and imperial turmoil. The Lutherans, Catholics, and Calvinists were all competing for religious dominance. Political leaders tried to advocate for their religions in the elections. There was much controversy regarding the new kings of Bohemia and political stress between the Bourbons and the Hapsburgs. The extraordinary chance which had saved three lives was a holy miracle or a comic accident according to the religion of the beholder, but it had no political significance (Wedgwood p. 79). The Denfenstration of Prague is the initial event that instigated the tension because it was a rebellion. People became angry and fought for what they thought was right. Frederick and Ferdinand began to raise their own armies by asking for help from other European countries. Ferdinand received assistance from Maximilian of Bavaria. In Western Civilizaton, it also mentions him getting help from Spain. He ensured this help by promising Frederick s lands to them. Now that everything was off schedule, Burnside knew that the Confederate general was getting ready to attack. So, Burnside ordered Brigadier General Henry to take 147 heavy caliber guns and shoot at the Confederates at Stafford Heights. The shooting lasted for an hour. Intel, Monopolies, And Corruption Des Spicer Prof. Cox ENG 1102 9/20/17 Research Paper: Intel, Monopolies, and Corruption Throughout the last 50 or so years, tech companies have risen and fall, gaining fame and power, and marking their names in history book for achieving momentous tasks, often in which can still be seen today. Intel is not an exception to this trend; in fact, the mega corporation is a prime example of what American tech giants look like: Intel has their hand in essentially every market dealing with computer components, from memory and memory controllers, to accelerators, to their main attraction, Central Processing Units, or CPU s, for Desktops, Laptops, and Servers. Not only does Intel have vast reach in the computer component market, but they have complete control of not only their production process, being for the most part self contained. From mining necessary resources, to shipping out their complete products from factories to their recipients, whether that be a store or an OEM. Intel is truly one of the most successful, if not the most successful Tech giant involved with Computer hardware. However, they only got to this place through nefarious actions, such as breaking contracts, playing the courts to their advantage, throwing their weight around, regardless of the legality of it, to meet their bottom lines. Considering that Intel is at such a high position, and has pretty much always existed at a fairly high position in the market, why? This paper will set out to find out the ... • 35. The Epic Of Gilgamesh Essay Tonisia Tutt Professor Andre World Literature 1 October 11, 2015 The Epic of Gilgamesh does not quite have a happy end. Truthfully, Gilgamesh is not successful in his mission. It is shortsighted and deceived to expect that Gilgamesh, the saint, must be effective in his journey to hold the characteristics of courage. An unsuccessful journey not harsh any more than a courageous ending is essentially joyful. For recognitions of this, we need to look no more distant than the plenty of thoughtful legends of great writing the stories of Homer, Virgil s Aeneid, and even Beowulf of the Anglo Saxon abstract convention. The Illiad end with the slaughter of Troy and the passing of Achilles. The Odyssey, in spite of the fact that it sees the saint restored home, in any case includes an entirely tough cost. The Aeneid, in like manner, shows in disaster. Like Achilles, Odysseus, Aeneas, and various other exemplary legends, Gilgamesh too shows those qualities vital to an ordinary scholarly saint, none of which needs to do, truth be told, with the unique idea of pleasure. In spite of the fact that achievement is quite unimportant to the bravery of a specific journey, maybe the first indicate considered in Gilgamesh is that the legend might really make progress. His level of progress depends to a limited extent on what he needs to accomplish and what he accomplish. Given the included creative component of the epic that they are developments of one or more creators the accomplishment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If they knew nature provided clean air, fresh water, pollinators for our crops, new medicines, new food crops, and that we can t afford to produce these things for ourselves... They would understand the full value of nature, Harrison Ford. Climate change is a hotly debated topic in our world. There are those who believe humanity is causing the changes we are currently experiencing. Additionally, there are groups disputing the claim, citing research that states the climate goes through cyclic periods of warming and cooling. Several groups have a part in the debate surrounding the causes of climate change, creating further confusion for the general public. There is evidence supporting each side, though at this time there is not enough to make a definitive conclusion. The greenhouse effect is the retaining of solar energy in the atmosphere that heats the planet. This is necessary for life to thrive, though causes issues when unregulated (Issitt and Flynn). While global climate change is the modification of the planet s temperatures, in recent years the trend has been warming. Humans have been a contributing factor to the current changes in climate, although there are other natural elements to be considered for effective understanding of global warming. • 38. The Extent to which You Think the Gothic Novel Represents... To what extent do you think that the Gothic novel represents recognisably modern anxieties? Since the 1800 s, vampires have often found their way into literature, legends, and popular culture. The vampire s first appearance in Gothic fiction came from John Polidori s publication, The Vampyre in 1819, and from then the fascination of the vampire and gothic literature as a whole grew and can be viewed as a commentary on the period of time in which it was written. The strong image of the vampire is a strong metaphor for communicating the zeitgeist of the time. By analysing Bram Stoker s, Dracula (1897) and Sheridan Le Fanu s, Carmilla (1872), as both novels are very important as they both helped mainstream vampire literature and created characters that have remained popular for over a century.
