A.Figure 1: Standard curve of the phosphate concentrations and the absorbance values. This
curve shows the amount of light that is absorbed by the reaction of water with 1 mM phosphate
in six different test tubes, containing different volumes of water and phosphate in each tube.
Tube 1 contained 1 mL of water with 0 mL of phosphate, tube 2 had 0.8 mL of water with 0.2 mL
of phosphate, tube 3 consisted of 0.6 mL of water with 0.4 mL of phosphate, tube 4 had 0.4 mL
of water with 0.6 mL of phosphate, tube 5 had 0.2 mL of water with 0.8 mL of phosphate, and
tube 6 had 1 mL of phosphate with no water present. After all of the solutionwas added to the test
tubes, 2.5 mL of stopping reagent was added to each test tube in order to denature the enzyme and
stop the reaction. After 10 minutes, the absorbance was measured at 620 nm; which are the values
used to create this curve based on phosphate concentration.

This plot relates the velocity of the reaction to the temperature of the reaction environment. There
were five different environments in which the reaction was done; 4c, 23c, 40c, 47c, and 78c. Five
different test tubes, containing 0.6 mL of substrate 2 at a pH of 7, 0.2 mL of MgCl2, and 0.2 mL
of the pyrophosphatase enzyme, were placed into each of the different temperatures for 4 minutes.
Once the 4 minutes was over, 2.5 mL of the stopping reagent was added to each of the tubes and
then the absorbance was measured after 10 minutes. The absorbance values were used to calculate
the initial velocity of each reaction. From this figure, the optimum temperature, for the reaction to
proceed most efficiently at the highest velocity, is at

AirAsia: The Sky s the Limit
According to Principles of Marketing, marketing environment consists of microenvironment and
macroenvironment factors (Kotler and Armstrong 90). On one hand, microenvironment states that a
successful marketing requires building relationships with other company departments, suppliers,
marketing intermediaries, competitors, various public, and customers. On the other hand,
macroenvironment states that there are several opportunities and threats that affect one s company.
These factors include demographic, economic, natural, technological, political, and cultural forces.
There are several factors that affected AirAsiain its early success. The first microenvironment ...

Just like Cebu Pacific, I noticed that AirAsia announces delayed or even cancelled flights very
late or sometimes even right before we try to enter the plane itself. This will cause bad
impressions which will reduce the number of its customers. Thus, AirAsia should announce any
possibility of delays or cancellations at least half a day before the expected flight schedule. If these
were impossible to be foreseen, AirAsia should compensate either by refunding, giving freebies or
even entertaining the customers. Next recommendation is better customer service. Most of the
time, they are not willing to assist the customers in a prompt way. Unlike other LCC stewardess,
AirAsia s stewardesses stay in their areas trying not to be disturbed by the customers. I recommend
that they should properly train themselves how to handle

The Dietary Guidelines For Nutrition And Human Needs
According to the History of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans , In 1977 after years of scientific
review and controversy the US Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs, led by
Senator George McGovern, recommended Dietary Goals for the American people (US Senate
Select Committee, 1977). The Goals included complementary nutrient based and food based
recommendations. The first goal aim attention at energy balance and urged that, to prevent
overweight, Americans should endure only as much energy as they are necessary. Overweight
Americans should consume less energy and expend more energy. For the nutrient based Goals, the
Senate Committee recommended Americans, boost their consumption of complex carbohydrates
and naturally occurring sugars; and make less consumption of refined and processed sugars, total
fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium (1).) The beginning of the Dietary Goals encounter
debates and controversy, as industry groups and the scientific community expressed questioning
that the science available at the time supported the specificity of the numbers provided in the
Dietary Goals. To support the credibility of the science used by the Committee, the US Department
of Agriculture and US Department of Health and Human Services (then called the Department of
Health, Education, and Welfare) scientists from the two Departments acquire additional expertise
from the scientific community throughout the country to address the public s need for

The Des Sciences Of Paris
The object being considered here is the AcadГ©mie des Sciences in Paris. This academy owes
its initiation to Colbert s plan, which was designed for the creation of a universal academy. It is
even a part of the family of varied sets of specialists who assembled around a supporter or a
learned individual in the 17th century. Colbert then selected a small segment of learned
individuals who gathered on December 22, 1666 in the King s library. The morning meetings
were then conducted twice a week there. The initial 30 years of the Academy were comparatively
easy going with no laws being stated by them till then. On the 20th of January 1699, this company
was given its primary rules by Louis XIV.
After this, the AcadГ©mie acquired the tag of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In the year 1816, the AcadГ©mie des sciences came to be self sufficient, while making up a
segment of the Institut de France; while the head of State continued to be its endorser. In 1835,
under the inspiration of François Arago, the Comptes rendus of the Académie des sciences was
initiated, which turned into an apparatus of utmost prominence for the dispersal of French and
foreign technical workings. At the commencement of the 20th Century, they experienced a
reduction in doings and inspiration, which had been initiated by demographic reasons. Considering
the rapid expansions in scientific investigation in France, so as to match up to this, the AcadГ©mie
decided to modify its arrangements and its operations. In more recent times, it started on a
comprehensive reorganisation of its decrees, regarding its association and its ventures in the future.
The laws that have been stated at the AcadГ©mie des sciences de l Institut de France congregates
French students and creates links with foreign learned individuals, wherein the previous and the
new are chosen from the list of those who are most worthy. Through their participation, they add to
the undertaking of the operations that the Academy does. The AcadГ©mie des sciences is self

Camp Carp Psychology
The upbeat, innocent jingle of the Wiggle s theme song played in the background as I heaved a
sigh, slumping down onto the ground in exhaustion. Dylan laid on his bunk, completely lost to
the world while immersed in the show. Although it was already our break, my breathing was
still heavy from the events prior. I glanced at over at Kyle, my partnered counselor, who tiredly
rubbed his face from his position on another bed. Dylan had pulled another fit at naptime, and
despite our efforts to convince him to take a rest instead of overexerting himself, he hadn t been in
the most compliant mood. After countless times of being refused a trip to the horseback riding
platform due to the arduousness of the trek in the Central Texas heat and frequent absence of the
horses Dylan had had the last straw with us. His frustration quickly escalated into an all out cabin
shoe fight between the campers, which was exactly what it sounded shoes flung around as deadly
projectiles. By the time the other counselors and I had finally calmed it down, the cabin was in
utter disarray.

Voter Registration Fraud Case Study
If accurate voter rolls aren t incentive, then maybe cost saving is. Since regulations very state to
state, it is hard to assess national cost. Considering money is a motivating factor to change, a case
study for registration cost was done using Oregon as the test subject. Pew considered every level of
registration. Beginning locally, it determined printing and postage, staff salaries, and facilities.
Additionally, the Secretary of State incurs expenses related to maintain the voter rolls, providing
and distributing registration forms, training and assisting agencies involved with voter registration,
and manning the toll free call center for public questions regarding registration. All totaled, Oregon
spent almost nine million dollars registering voters for the 2008 election, that s $4.11 per active
registered voter or $7.67 per registration transaction (Pew). Compare that cost to Canada, who
maintains their voter roll using automatic registration, with just 35 cents per active voter (Pew).
That is a significant cost savings.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arguably, any duplicitous activity surrounding our elections should be investigated and punished
accordingly. Indeed, most allegations of voter fraud turn out to be clerical errors, and individual
voter fraud is rare for two compelling reasons. First, individual fraud begets minimal votes, certainly
not enough to win an election. And second, it comes with a severe penalty (Brennan). Henceforth,
our country needs to find the balance between the possibility of fraudulent elections with the
probability of voter suppression and disenfranchisement. Automatic voter registration not only
mends the system, but also protects it by removing those that would most benefit from voter
registration fraud from the process ie. political parties and partisan third party

Christina Perri Poetic Techniques
Songs are filled with passion and emotion. Songs may have simple lyrics but there is so much
meaning to those words. The song Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri has lots of spirit and
emotions. This song is about a girl who is regaining her independence and confidence which was
lost because of a heartbreaker and she expresses her story through anger and sadness. In Perri s
song , the first verse and pre chorus show anger, depression, and recovery. In this verse I know I
can t take... Christina s angry when she talks about staying away from her heartbreaker after the
damage he had done to her emotionally. Perri also states a metaphor in stanza one line three which
conveys her recovery and that she will not follow her heartbreaker around anymore,... Show more

In the second stanza lines three and four she uses the style of a metaphor to express that she is
independent. I ve grown too strong, to ever fall back in your arms, this does not mean she
physically grew more muscle, but she grew emotionally. She now knows she is confident, self
reliant and does not need her heartbreaker anymore. The 3rd verse is a flashback where the
lyricist remembers how traumatic it was to recover from the pain. In the lines It took so long to
feel alright, remember how to put back the light in my eyes, Perri uses imagery to say that it
took her a long time to feel happy and stand on her feet all because her ex boyfriend was
emotionally detrimental. She also explains that she regrets all the time she spent with her past
boyfriend because he broke all his promises. The outro of Jar of Hearts (where it repeats who do
you think you are four times) is her in disbelief that her past partner wants to return. Central
tensions are used in this song such as dependence vs independence and anger vs happiness. To sum
up this paragraph, Perri is now independent and represents that as she deeply despises her ex

The Reversal of Traditions in Shrek Essay example
The Reversal of Traditions in Shrek
In traditional fairy tales ogres are man eating beast. The prince usually rescues the princess; they
marry and live happily ever after. How do the makers of shrek use presentational devices to reverse
this tradition to reveal the ogre as good and the prince as evil?
In this essay I am going to analyse the characters of shrek and Lord Farquaad, and write about how
filmmakers use different camera angles, lighting, music and setting to create an unusual fairy tale.
The giant in jack and the beanstalk is what we expect of giants/ogres.

If kids were watching it then they would think the scene in the chamber they might get a bit scared
but then the film eases the tension by adding jazzy music and colours.
They are using different types of traditional fairy tales i.e. Pinocchio when he says, I m not a
puppet I m a real boy . At the start of shrek it starts like a traditional fairy tale until shrek s hand
appears and rips out a page of a book and then rap music starts playing.
In traditional fairy tales princes are meant to be brave, tall, strong and handsome but Lord
Farquaad is small, ugly, scared, and weak, Lord Farquaad is not traditional because he is a nasty
and evil character like when he is torturing the ginger bread man, plus he sends all the fairy tale
creatures to shrek s swamp.
He has an evil side when he sends shrek to rescue the princess from the dragons keep instead of
going himself. When we first meet Lord Farquaad he is in the torture chamber and its very dull
and the guards are dressed in black so it sets a scary and dull scene.
Before Lord Farquaad asked shrek to rescue the princess he asks the best soldiers in the land to
fight each other and the winner gets to kill the dragon but if they fail then the runner up would try,
instead of going to try and rescue herself. This is his frightened and weak side of Lord Farquaad.
In shrek there

Anglo Saxon Warrior Analysis
The Expectations of an Anglo Saxon Warrior
Paul Watson stated, I do what I do because it is the right thing to do. I am a warrior, and it is the
way of the warrior to fight superior odds . In this quote, Paul Watson is describing the duty of a
warrior. People have many assumptions as to what warrior s expectations were back in the Anglo
Saxon Era. Warriors did whatever it took to finish their duty. In the poems, The Seafarer, The
Wanderer, and Beowulf, warriors were big parts of the stories. Learning about what their
expectations included was very helpful in determining the kind of people they were. Warriors in
the Anglo Saxon Era were very loyal and brave to their kings and or higher powers. Warriors were
also known for traveling great distances in certain circumstances. In all three poems, the
expectations for warriors remained the same.
Bravery can be shown throughout all three stories. Bravery can be described as courageous
behavior or character. Epic heros were not the only people known for their bravery. Warriors
showed bravery just as equally. In The Seafarer, it states, But there isn t a man on earth so proud
/ So born with greatness, so bold with his youth/ Grown so brave, or so graced by God ( The
Seafarer 39 41). In The Wanderer, it states, Though woefully toiling on wintry seas/ With churning
oar in the icy wave/ Homeless and helpless he fled from fate ( The Wanderer 3 5). In this quote
from The Wanderer , the man has no motivation but he is brave

King Arthur Gwaine Alternate Ending
Soft voices greeted him as he entered the Hall of Records. Gwaine wasn t sure if he d even been
in this part of the castle before. He found Arthur sitting at a desk next to Geoffrey of Monmouth,
pouring over what appeared to be a genealogical record book of families and crests.
As he glanced over the page they were on, he felt his heart stop. On the top of the parchment was a
white phoenix on a black background. It had been decades since he even thought of that particular
coat of arms.
Arthur didn t bother looking up. Sir Gwaine, I need you to take Sir Percival and a contingent of
knights and ride to Ismere. I received word that Morgana may be in the vicinity. Check it out and

You wanted to speak with me, Sire? Gwaine ducked his head through the wooden door. The room
inside was bathed in warm light by a multitude of candles and a roaring fire in the hearth. A soft
breeze of cool air came from an open window behind the large desk. Tapestries hung from the
walls, and red curtains surrounded the four poster bed in the Royal Chamber.
Come in, Gwaine.
During his years in Camelot, Gwaine had only been in this chamber a handful of times. Typically,
his meetings with the king took place in more formal settings, or on the training field. He couldn t
recall the last time when he had been summoned to speak with Arthur alone. The roguish knight felt
a bit uneasy as he entered. He took a seat across the desk from Arthur and waited, twisting his hands
nervously.
Are you healing well from your capture? Arthur asked, referring to Gwaine s recent enslavement by
Morgana.
Gwaine had led a group of knights toward Ismere to check on reports of Morgana. Word had
come that she was amassing an army of Saxons, as well as conscripting men from nearby villages
as slave labor. After weeks of not hearing from his men, Arthur had set out with a large party to find

How To Pulverize DNA In Criminal Investigation
Introduction
There are many ways to investigate a crime in order to find justice. Main ways embrace the sub
disciplines of forensic anthropology, forensic botany, forensic entomology, forensic odontology and

DNA Relation
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, contains all the hereditary data around a human being. It s the
directions for the body s whole hereditary cosmetics. DNA is one of a kind to every distinct
individual. A man has the same DNA all through his whole body, and it s situated in each cell.
Cells are the fundamental building squares of all people ( Criminal Law Lawyers.com, n.d.) . This
can be used by forensic scientist to essentially then determine if DNA samples such as mouth cells,

also yields a reasonable amount of DNA. This makes it easier to make observations on the DNA
extracted from the kiwi and make judgments on what impacts different chemicals had on it.
The DNA is stored where the nuclei is, therefore the kiwi is placed in a ziplock bag and is
smashed in order to break open these cells and reveal the DNA. The atomic films must be opened

utilized. DNA is insoluble in alcohol, so it precipitates (http://www.actahort.org/books/297

Myths around Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
DUI s have been on the rise in the past few years, therefore there have been many myths on how to
not obtain a DUI or a DWI. New York became the pioneer state in which, they made to first drunk
driving laws in 1910, followed shortly after California then the other forty eight states followed.
These DUI laws stated that a driver could not operate a vehicle while under the influence, although
intoxication was not defined by legislature at this period of time. Then in the 1930 s committees
wanted to make the roads safer. So The American Medical Association started a committee that
studied the most common issues that lead to accidents. Also the National Safety Council created a
study that determined intoxication, they reached a conclusion that a Blood Alcohol Contentabove
0.15 was intoxicated and anything under a person was sober, this became the first legal limit for
BAC in 1938. Although as time progressed the laws became stricter, this was due to various groups
that petitioned against drunk driving. The pressure from these organizations led to changes, such
as raising the legal drinking age to twenty one years of age, which was required for all states, yet
drunk driving laws was not required by all police departments at this time. Then the legal limit
was lowered to 0.10 from 0.15, then once lowered again to our legal limit we have to which is
0.08. The first myth to bust is the various amounts of ways someone can fool a Breathalyzer. The

Aging Population Issues Paper
I believe the most pressing issue facing the aging population on a daily basis is financial security
while living on a fixed income. Aging individuals sources of income include Social Security,
employment, private pensions, and assets. The median household income for those 65 and older
in 2007 was only $27, 798 (Hooyman Kiyak, 2011). I chose financial security as the most pressing
issue facing the older population because it influences several other areas. Sources of income for
the agingpopulation are sometimes insufficient to maintain proper housing, may cause health
problems, and restricts access to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The difficulty that the
lack of financial security can pose for an aging individual leads... Show more content on

Agenda Setting In The Movie Rocky IV
Agenda Setting is a theory that has the ability to influence the salience of topics on the public
agenda. It is a very dangerous, but helpful tactic that many mainstream media use in order to
powerfully influence the public. Media has the ability to shape and mold the most important news
of the time, and this is highly evident in the OJ Simpson Case and the famous Movie Rocky IV.
Nicole Brown and OJ Simpson had two children and divorced due to Simpson s multiple

this movie was agenda setting at it s finest. The movie shows an American getting killed by the

Mainstream media sets its agenda once again by focusing the public opinion to be focused on

Section 1: Identification and Evaluation of sources This investigation will explore the question:
To what extent did women working factory jobs change feminine roles in society? The years from
1939 to 1945 will be the focus of this investigation, to allow for an analysis of women s
employment before and during the war.
The first source which will be evaluated in depth is a letter written by Mary Anderson in October
of 1940. The origin if this source is a letter written by the director of the Women s Bureau of the
U.S. department of Labor, to Studebaker the commissioner of education. Its purpose was to
convince John Ward Studebaker that women should be just as educated as men. It states ... Show

Women s employment increased in America from under one percent in 1939 to over Forty six
percent in 1943, and ninety percent of single women between the ages 18 59 were engaged in
some form of factory work over the course of the war (Striking Women). Women were urged to
take masculine positions in the workplace, in order to free up able bodied men for the line of
duty. While women took many jobs over the course of the war the factory jobs were in the most
demand. Factory workers were needed in order to build essential supplies for the war effort, such
as bombs, heavy machinery, and auxiliary. The push for women showed a changing view of how
capable women were sought after by companies. In 1943, more than 310,000 women worked in the
U.S. aircraft industry, making up 65 percent of the industry s total workforce compared to just 1
percent in the pre war years (Striking Women). Women workers were recruited by the munitions
industry, which was shown through the U.S. government s Rosie the Riveter propaganda
campaign. Rosie the Riveter became one of the most successful recruitment tools in American
history (Striking Wome ). Prior to World War II, propaganda targeting women had only been asking
them to buy war bonds, plant victory gardens, and ration foods (Women, Gender, and World War).
Rosie the Riveter was the first time a government had released a propaganda campaign where
women had a job and were independent. This showed a newfound respect for women and their
skills. The changes in societal interpretation of women allowed them to become more than
homemakers, and put more focus on what women could do rather than what they looked like. The
push for women in factories during the years 1939 to 1945 showed that women could be trusted
around dangerous materials, conveyed a sense of

Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising
Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is
shared among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are
these ads truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in
political campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people
together to discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can
encourage people to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is
the best candidatefor President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be
misleading. Many people feel that candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them
look good and promise immediate changes which are either not possible or can take a long time
to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro, who made many different types of images to make
him look more popular (Document A). However, these images also help people decide who would
be betterfor the job based off of looks, beliefs, and other attributes. I would use these to help make
myself stand out from the other candidates by putting in true aspects into my campaign so they
do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps decide what issues the public focuses
on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for President try to get rid of the
issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for them. Bandwagons use
well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for a candidate
because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement, glittering
generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like the
Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which
spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a
candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps
get other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a
candidate who already has a lot of public support. This

Social Equality Essay
Social Equality Synthesis of American History and Today
The development of America as a nation was largely influenced by several key points in its history
that gave rise to a country that is continuously struggling with social equality. First, the
consolidation of the United States Constitution, in 1786, failed to legalize slavery, which
contentiously allowed slavery to continue, dehumanizing blacks to lower positions in America s
social hierarchy. Next, the changing dynamics of social roles redefined the traditional male and
female societal responsibilities and obligations that generated a divide of gender issues. The issue
prompted a surge of feminist activists that sought for gender equality that is still being debated
today. Finally, in a current and contemporary example, President Trump s aggressive stance on
immigration has forced many immigrants to be fearful of their current status in the country. This
issues has been severely centered around race, which has been the core issue and debate with
President Trump, Democrats, and the nation. From the 17th century to the 21st century, the United
States debated and still debates social equality and what it means to be citizen and a member of
society that was reflective through the degradation of slaves and blacks, women rights and their
elevated roles in society, racial injustice of African Americans, and the immigration system of
contemporary America. The founding of America was driven on economic prosperity and

Ceramics of the North and South Coasts Essay
Ceramics of the North and South Coasts Ancient Peruvian Ceramics of the North Coast March
11, 1997 The first pottery pieces found in Peru were made somewhere between 1500 and 1000
b.p. The pieces were found in the central Andean region where a religious cult lived. This cult was
called ChavГn, after the best known ceremonial center, ChavГn de HuГЎntar. The religious center
was the home to massive temples that were highly embellished with low relief sculpturesof gods,
animals, and symbols. The pottery found in the area where vesselsthat were well made and highly

Three other cultures in north coast valleys contributed their pottery style to the over all Cusisnique
style that was evolving into the Mochica style. These people were the Gallinazo, Recuay, and
VicГєs. The Gallinazo constructed double chamber vessels with whistle spouts and a type of
decoration called negative decoration where they painted their simple designs on after the pieces
were fired. The Recuay also had double chamber vessels but these had one functioning spout and
one sculpted, usually an animal or figure. They also used negative decoration but theirs were much
more elaborate designs than the Gallinazo vessels. The VicГєs lived in the highlands on the
Ecuadorian border. They made very sculptural vessels with a stirrup handle and central spout.
Although a hand full of VicГєs artifacts have been found, not much is known about these people,
but one can see a visible connection between all of these different cultures and the Mochica style
that evolved out of them. The Mochica civilization flourished for nearly 1000 years and as time
passed slight changes in the style could be seen and are chronologically separated into Mochica I V.
The first two are formative phases with lots of experimentation. The third concentrated on a
distinctive art style, which continued through the forth and gradually declined in the fifth. They
expressed many aspects of their culture and daily life in their ceramics. Things like

Questions On Non Financial Firms
1. Introduction
The 2007 2008 crisis started off in August 2007 as a subprime mortgage crisis primarily
concentrated in the United States but quickly metamorphosized into a global financial crisis where
financial institutions teeter on the edge of bankruptcy in many countries in addition to the United
States. A global economic crisis ensues in which nonfinancial firms around the world appear to
spiral downward as well. A key potential contributor to the plight of the non financial firms is the
financial crisis itself, in the form of a negative shock to the supply of external finance needed by
non financial firms. However, as the two quotes by some leading policymakers and scholars at the
beginning of the paper indicate, the idea that non financial firms suffer from a strongly negative
supply of finance shock is not universally shared. In addition, if non financial firms do not do well,
there can certainly be other causes, such as a contraction of demand for their products.
This paper has three objectives. First, it aims to develop a simple framework that can capture and
quantify the relative importance of the finance shock to the economic health of non financial firms.
Second, in a cross country context, it aims to investigate whether the responsiveness of the real
economy to a given finance shock varies by country features that the literature suggests that could
matter, such as the type of a financial system, the nature of a monetary and exchange rate regime, or
the extent

New Jersey V. Cocuzza Case Study
Before PTSD became an official diagnosis, various other traumatic stress syndromes such as
dissociative flashbacks and survivor guilt were used as criminal defenses for both violent
/nonviolent crimes as well as a basis for successful insanity defenses. Initially PTSD raised
concerns about its potential misuse in criminal courts, however, there were certain incidences
where PTSD was found to be a legitimate phenomenon. Case in point, New Jersey v Cocuzza
(1981). In this case, the defendant was a Vietnam veteran who was found not guilty for reason of
insanitywhen he assaulted a police officer. Mr. Cocuzza s defense was that at the time of the
incident, he believed that he was attacking enemy soldiers. His claims were supported by the
officer when he testified that Mr. Cocuzza was holding a stick as if it were a rifle.... Show more

In certain incidences such as the New Jersey v Cocuzza case, I do not believe the actions
performed were voluntary. However, in other cases, I have mixed emotions such as the case of
Babbit v Calderon. With the information provided, I would agree with the appellate court s
decision and find that Mr. Babbit s actions were indeed voluntary.
My reasons derive from the way the evidence was presented in this case. On a December night,
Babbit broke into Leah Schendel s apartment and brutally beat and sexually assaulted her. Her
cause of death was determined to be heart failure caused by the stress related to the incident. The
following night, Babbit robbed and attempted to rape another woman, Mavis Wilson. In my
opinion, a person who is able to commit such crimes not once but twice on two different occasions,
has the mental capability to understand the potential risks and outcomes of their

Amadeus Movie Essay
The film Amadeus directed by Milos Forman in 1984 was a look in to the interesting and short
life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart was considered a child prodigy and genius by
possessing qualities such as: composing his first concerto at the age 4, first symphony by the age
of seven, his first opera by twelve, being able to just hear a piece of musiconce and being able to
play it back perfectly from memory, playing the piano with a blindfold on, or playing the piano
upside down and backward. The film was narrated by another composer, Antonio Salieri, who was
portrayed has having a love/hate relationship with Mozart.

The first inaccuracy of Salieri s feelings have been deemed as inaccurate. In several of Mozart s
letters, there is evidence that the Italians (supposedly lead by Salieri) in Emperor Joseph s court
did get in the way of several attempts to advance Mozart s career, and some of these are
portrayed in the film. There is, however, no clear proof that Salieri hated Mozart or plotted
against him or planned his death (Fact or Fiction). I found a wide range of views on Mozart s and
Salieri s relationship. Some say they were the best of friends, and some said they never actually
meet in person, but never once did I come upon any information that there was bad blood between
them. The second inaccuracy found was that the film only showed Mozart and Constanze having

Martin Luther King, The Southern Christian Leadership...
Under the leadership of Martin Luther King, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference
(SCLC), bought the Black Civil Rights Movement and his desegregation concepts to Birmingham
in 1963 for several reasons. The most pivotal of these reasons being his African American racial
status and his Christian faith which drove him to fight for the rights his people deserved.
He believed that the most racial injustice lay not only in the Southern states of America but in
Birmingham, Alabama as expressed in his 1963 Letter from a Birmingham Jail, to fellow clergymen
who criticized his methods, King stating, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. In
Birmingham, much like other Southern American States public facilities such as parks, movie
theatres, lunch bars, restaurants, and water fountains were segregated (African Americans had
different, lesser facilities than the Whites) which ultimately led King, SCLC, and ordinary African
American citizens to hold these non violent protests to have the desegregation they had sought after
for many years.
His second reason to bring the Black Civil Rights Movement to Birmingham was due to their
Commissioner of Public Safety, Eugene Bull Connor. Connor was greatly opposed to the idea of
segregation and King knew Connor s reaction to the non violent movement he had proposed would
be one of violence and aggression. The town also had a history of extreme violence, not only
towards African Americans but nigger lovers alike. Examples

Branding And Its Effect On Society
In society today, everything has a name for it. If the product doesn t have a well known name, it

society and it s never going to go away. In this situation, all we can do from here is analyze more

effects on consumerism, which makes us question consumerisms power in society. Has our society

Consumerism and the effects of branding affect people s lives. Branding allows consumers to
easily identify which products are made by which companies. Yet, the brands create more of an
influence on consumer s lifestyles and in the end decide what kind of consumer that person is.
Branding creates a blurred divide in our society. Consumers who are ore likely to purchase the
branded products that are associated with better quality and higher prices are put into their own
category bucket versus the consumers who choose the cheaper priced products that are made
with less quality. When it comes to deciding who you are based off of the products and brands
that you associate yourself with, it creates a capital divide in our society. Consumers than
associate brands with personal feelings based upon whether or not they associate themselves with
those brands. Lives of consumers are heavily influenced. Their lives are worse off when they feel
the need to keep up with brands in order to feel as if they are portraying themselves in the best
light. In a way, this is similar to how all of branding began with livestock. Consumers want to
physically brand themselves with specific brands by wearing logos and identifying with a brand.
They might not be burning the brands directly onto their skin but they are burning the brands onto
their clothes and burning holes in their wallets to keep up with society standards about brands. Not

Treatment Of Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar )
Treatment of Bipolar Disorder Bipolar disorder is a chronic mental illness that requires lifelong
management to be maintained. Another term frequently used for bipolar disorder is manic
depression. This stems from the extreme mood changes of highs and lows that are categorized in
this disorder, as the person is usually depressed but will go through manic episodes. Although this
is a chronic illness a person with BPD will at times seem symptom free. The symptom free person
will still need to continue with their medication regimen and therapy as prescribed to maintain the
disorder and prevent a relapse. Considering the effects of this mental illness the person with BPD
will experience problems with maintaining personal relationships and have occupational
difficulties. Suicide attempts are common for this disorder, and a great number of people with
BPD will attempt suicide, at least, one time during their life. (Halter, 2014). As mentioned earlier
usually the person with BPD will usually present with a depressive mood. They will display
hypersomnia, lack of personal hygiene, changes in appetite, feelings of hopelessness, and an all
around low mood. During a manic episode, the person with BPD will display with extreme
happiness, increased energy, insomnia, an elevated confidence level, movements without purpose,
racing thoughts, decreased appetite, constant talking, excessive focus on tasks, and more. Safety is

economic aspect of it, the paper will examine the opportunities and challenges of the strategic
partnership between the EU and China and it will argue that for China, the EU is the best
economic and strategic partner within the global economic system. EU China economic relations:
a brief overview Europe and China share a long history of bilateral relations and economic
cooperation. Trade and economic exchanges go back as long as 20 centuries ago, when the Roman
empire formed relations with ancient China in order to trade goods through the Asian continent.
The most infamous one is the example of the so called silk roads , paths that enabled cultural
interaction and commodity sharing, such as gold and silk, between European (Greek, Roman,
Byzantine) and Asian (Chinese, Indian, Persian) civilisations and were carried out by missionary
merchants and pilgrim travelers. During the modern history, however, European and China
economic relations have gone through many ups and downs, as the international climate affected
drammatically their perception of each other. The two World Wars damaged heavily the
economies of Europe, while China was still under very low levels of economic development. After
the second World War, the US rose as the global economic power and overshadowed the previous

Research Paper On Charles Manson
A Murderer s Lifestyle The name Charles Manson still brings terror to many people in this day

murders of innocent people in the late 1960 s. The early childhood and persona of Manson led
him to brainwashing a group of people known as the Manson Family , who committed his

him on November 12, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio. At birth he wasn t given an actual name and

Manson, who worked for a dry cleaning business. The child was then named Charles Milles

Superheroes, Despite Their Different Powers, All Possess
Superheroes, despite their different powers, all possess similar characteristics that define them,
such as courage, honesty, selflessness, and the maintenance of strong morals. Similarly, King Lear,
the tragic hero in William Shakespeare s play, King Lear, possesses characteristics that define him
as a tragic hero, as stated by Aristotle in Poetics via A.C. Bradley s The Shakespearean Tragic
Hero. King Learis a character of high social status, and he possesses exceptional qualities that make

However, as the play progresses, his suffering that is caused by the impulsive decision to divide
his kingdom is clearly seen. This suffering is illustrated through the loss of his sanity, ultimately
due to the sudden loss of his power, his deteriorating relationships with his daughters, and the
inability to prevent these negative outcomes. Upon realizing his mistake of solely letting Regan
and Goneril inherit his kingdom, Lear is ashamed that [his daughters have the] power to shake
[his] manhood (I.iv.299 301). His daughters, who are women and are therefore considered to be
less important and powerful in his society, have taken control of Lear s power and life, and it is
embarrassing to him as he is used to receiving constant honour, pride, and glory as the King. This
illustrates the start of him losing his sanity, and soon, Lear is seen pleading to the gods to keep
[him] in temper and to not [let him] be mad, as he is stripped away from all that is his (I.v.43
44). As King Lear pleads for help to maintain his sanity, his sufferings are clearly illustrated as the
change in his character is evident; a change from a virtuous, powerful king, to a mentally
unstable, powerless, and embarrassed beggar like character. This form of suffering is unusual
because a sudden but significant loss of power is rare, especially for someone as powerful and
influential as a King. All the sudden negative

Body Image in the Media Essay
Body image today is so drastically exaggerated in importance that people, often adolescents, go

important issue these days. It makes people want to change everything about themselves, their

adolescents because of all the places they advertise. The adults are also people that I would blame

The internet is also making people believe differently about their bodies. It has things posted all

internet everyday seeing this causes them to believe think differently about their bodies. One
thing that these people who post blogs up don t tell you is that, the adolescents trying to act like
these stars end up getting pregnant or many other things. For instance, teenage girls these days try
to be like other girls on TV and this causes them to be sexually active, and with this occurring

The Fault in Our Tsars
The evolution of Russian absolutism brought a new era of social and cultural expectations that
drastically altered the life and society of Russia until the twentieth century. The impact the evolution
of absolutism had on Russian life cannot be understated nor can it be overlooked. Therefore, it is
important for us to look at three key defining eras during which absolutism was strongest in Russia:
the Mongols, Ivan IV, and Peter the Great. These three rulers helped to shape much of what would
be defined as the Russian absolutism that would shape the future of the Russian Empire.
While it would be easy to begin our exploration of Russian absolutism with the reign of Ivan the
Terrible, the true beginnings of absolutist rule in Russia came with the arrival of the Mongols.
Known to the Russian people as Tatars, the Mongols ruled over Russia with an iron fist and
exposed them to Eastern religion. As a result of this, Russia remained secluded from the advancing
world of the west and it prohibited growth that the rest of Europe was experiencing. The Mongols
were conquerors and destroyed everything that caused them grief or they did not understand. While
the Mongols would allow for much of the cultural distinctions to remain in their conquered
territories they would demand tribute or the population would have to face the consequences. Even
though this is not quite the same concept many absolutist rulers employed for their land the
Mongols, to some extent, were

Human freedom is an extensive topic because it extends throughout many different aspects of life,
such as politics, religion, and education to name a few. Throughout this paper, I intend to address
the aspects of human freedom as seen through the writings of Emile Durkheim, Alexis de
Tocqueville, and Max Weber. Each theorist presents his own ideas on what human freedom really
is and how it can exist, but they also share a few ideas as well. Durkheim is best known for his

itself everywhere and is much easier to come by. Because of this, Tocqueville believes that if
men seek equality and freedom and do not find it, they may seek equality in other things, even
things as preposterous as equality in slavery. Democracy is about freedom and equality alike.
Equality, however, is an insatiable desire of men. For Tocqueville, I think the positive outcomes

Trauma Of Everyday Life
After reading the Trauma of Everyday Life , what I found intriguing was what the Buddha called
Realistic View . According to the realistic View, trauma neither a mistake nor a failure (Epstein,
2003, p. 2). I agree with this because I have lost relatives in my life but I did not consider them to
be mistakes or failure, I accepted that they had to go because it was their time. The only thing I
regretted is that I did not spend as much as I would love.
I was raised a Christian and belong to a Pentecostal church. Since moving to New York I have one
been to church a couple of times but I still consider myself a Christian. I believe spirituality and
religion are important aspects of a person s life. Not including it in therapy is not helping

Sandro Boticelli Essay
Sandro Boticelli Sandro Botticelli, (1445 1510) was a famous Renaissance arit. His real name was
Alessandro di Mariano Filipepi; his nickname came from Botticello ( little barrel ), which was
either the nickname of his older brother or the name of the goldsmith who first taught him.
Botticelli was born in Florence to the tanner Marianno di Vanni and his wife in a small placecalled
Smeralda which is now Borgo Ognissanti No. 28 in Florence. He was one of eight children born
to his parents, Botticelli being the youngest. In 1458 his father rented a small country villa in
Careggi from the powerful Rucellai family, which was a place near Florence where the family
moved into the house called the Via della Vigna Nuova.

Fortitudo (1470) was painting that was painted for a courtroom in Florence. The picture is of a
woman being a judge.
The Ammunciation (1481), Painted for a hospital in Florence for the end of a plague that many
people were stricken with since 1478.
The Rebellion Against the Laws of Moses (1481 82), Jewish Sacrifice and the Temptation of Christ

Primavera (1482), a painting of gods and goddesses and almost 500 different kinds of plants.
Botticelli also painted portraits of people such a lady, Smeralda Brandini(1470 75) and a man,
Giuliano de Medici(1476 78). Later on in his painting career, he showed different art to his other
paintings, showing the poor side of his personality. This can be shown in his painting called
Nativity , as the painting is sharply defined and with cold colours.
Botticelli s style of painting had influenced many people and many artists who then became
famous, also changing the way people look at art. For example, Lippi, Filippino (1457 1504) was an

Narrative Essay For College
Gowing up to spend the past 18 years of my life on the Chicago Westside has been an interesting
journey. I currently live in the Austin community, where there is a population of 98,514 in 2010
and 85.1% is Black, 8.58% is Hispanic, and 4.43% is White. Growing up in an area of complete
violence and poverty felt like a game. Making sure you stay on your side of the block, making
sure you re home before dark, and even making sure you never walk alone. Never. A lot of
people get scared when they hear about a life like this, but it s reality for me, and I honestly feel
pretty comfortable with the people surrounding me. They look like me, talk like me, and even
dress like me. We all watch out for each other. It s a family beyond blood that was built in my
community. I live on a block where it is 95% Black. Besides my family, there is only one other
Hispanic family. I never really left my community or the type of people I surround myself with
either. I honestly didn t feel comfortable leaving and going into a White community. But my
comfort level was really tested when I left for the summer to the... Show more content on

This program takes place over the course of two summers for a whole month. Although this
amazing opportunity was given to me, for free, I was very hesitant to make the commitment. I wasn
t so confident in myself, especially to be surrounded by the biggest white community in Illinois,
DuPage County. I had very little interest in attending Wheaton College for two summers. I knew I
wouldn t feel comfortable in that community. I wouldn t have my mom s delicious home cooked
meals every night, or to see my little brother and watch him play outside. I wouldn t have that
comfortability of being at home. I wouldn t be surrounded by my friends and family who
constantly look out for me. I was going to be in an unknown territory looking after myself. I was

The Impact Of Television On Television
Television has come to define American culture and its youth in very significant ways. What began
as a platform for entertainment has branched out into becoming a remarkable and unexpected way
for younger children to learn. It is important to note what is being broadcasted on television because
of how much influence it has on the youth. It has become the dominant storyteller in homes rather
than parents, the church, or schools (Signorielli, 2001). As technology further advances, children
are generally also becoming more comfortable with televisionand therefore spending more time
watching television. Children should not be receiving most of their learning from television to
begin with, however the learning that they are receiving should at... Show more content on

These sitcoms included The Office, Episode 3 Health Care , Season 1, Aired April 5, 2008 and
Everybody Hates Chris, Episode 1 Everybody Hates the Guidance Counselor , Season 3, Aired
October 1, 2007. There is also a more significant amount of underrepresentation of women in this
category compared to PBS children s shows and cartoons. Out of four main characters that were
chosen to focus on, only one from each show were women. In contrast, in other shows such as
Teen Titans Go!, Episode 7, Girls Night Out , Season 1, Aired June 18, 2013, Arthur, Episode 10a
Binky s Music Madness , Season 17, Aired May 1, 2014, and Sid: The Science Kid, Episode 1 The
Sticker Chart , Season 1, Aired September 1, 2008 there was a more equal representation of men
and women.
Representation of women in PBS children s shows and cartoons was not only greater in numbers
compared to sitcoms, but there was also more deviance in relation to the fact that many of the
characters did not follow traditional roles of their sex/gender. Characters in Sid: The Science Kid,
men and women, were equally presented as intelligent, constructive, and they offered to help with
information. In Teen Titans Go!, the focal characters were all superheroes and their super powers
were not influenced by their sex/gender. Specifically speaking, women s ability to perform in the
same occupation as men was not a concern. In contrast, The Office and Everybody

Without the northern harrier or animals in its family, what animals would protect the crops that
we grow? We need crops to eat and also trade. Here are ways that the northern harrier helps in the
world beyond just being in the ecosystem. Northern harriers help protect crops by reducing
populations of field mice and other rodents. Unlike some other hawk species, they do not attack
poultry BioKids.edu. We should try and help the northern harrier because they help our crops.
Humans should try to save this animals because they help our crops that we need in the future by
reducing the problem of field mice. We need the crops to survive and eat and also trade, but if the
field mice get to the crops then we won t have anything to eat. The Northern Harrier is a really big
help to our community and future. The recovery of the northern harrier in Connecticut depends on
the conservation and protection of large areas of inland and coastal marshes, wet meadows, upland
heaths, and grasslands through land acquisition or landowner agreements. Supporting measures to
protect and enhance wintering habitats in Central and South America is also important. The nesting
activities of the northern harrier are often difficult to survey and monitor. Therefore, any confirmed
nests should be reported to the Wildlife Division (860 675 8130) to help increase our knowledge of
the activities of these birds in Connecticut.

This curve shows the amount of light that is absorbed by the reaction of water with 1 mM phosphate in six different test tubes, containing different volumes of water and phosphate in each tube. Tube 1 contained 1 mL of water with 0 mL of phosphate, tube 2 had 0.8 mL of water with 0.2 mL of phosphate, tube 3 consisted of 0.6 mL of water with 0.4 mL of phosphate, tube 4 had 0.4 mL of water with 0.6 mL of phosphate, tube 5 had 0.2 mL of water with 0.8 mL of phosphate, and tube 6 had 1 mL of phosphate with no water present. After all of the solutionwas added to the test tubes, 2.5 mL of stopping reagent was added to each test tube in order to denature the enzyme and stop the reaction. After 10 minutes, the absorbance was measured at 620 nm; which are the values used to create this curve based on phosphate concentration. On one hand, microenvironment states that a successful marketing requires building relationships with other company departments, suppliers, marketing intermediaries, competitors, various public, and customers. On the other hand, macroenvironment states that there are several opportunities and threats that affect one s company. This will cause bad impressions which will reduce the number of its customers. Thus, AirAsia should announce any possibility of delays or cancellations at least half a day before the expected flight schedule. If these were impossible to be foreseen, AirAsia should compensate either by refunding, giving freebies or even entertaining the customers. Next recommendation is better customer service. Most of the time, they are not willing to assist the customers in a prompt way. Unlike other LCC stewardess, AirAsia s stewardesses stay in their areas trying not to be disturbed by the customers. • 4. The Dietary Guidelines For Nutrition And Human Needs According to the History of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans , In 1977 after years of scientific review and controversy the US Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs, led by Senator George McGovern, recommended Dietary Goals for the American people (US Senate Select Committee, 1977). The Goals included complementary nutrient based and food based recommendations. The first goal aim attention at energy balance and urged that, to prevent overweight, Americans should endure only as much energy as they are necessary. Overweight Americans should consume less energy and expend more energy. For the nutrient based Goals, the Senate Committee recommended Americans, boost their consumption of complex carbohydrates and naturally occurring sugars; and make less consumption of refined and processed sugars, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium (1).) The beginning of the Dietary Goals encounter debates and controversy, as industry groups and the scientific community expressed questioning that the science available at the time supported the specificity of the numbers provided in the Dietary Goals. To support the credibility of the science used by the Committee, the US Department of Agriculture and US Department of Health and Human Services (then called the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare) scientists from the two Departments acquire additional expertise from the scientific community throughout the country to address the public s need for ... This academy owes its initiation to Colbert s plan, which was designed for the creation of a universal academy. It is even a part of the family of varied sets of specialists who assembled around a supporter or a learned individual in the 17th century. Colbert then selected a small segment of learned individuals who gathered on December 22, 1666 in the King s library. The morning meetings were then conducted twice a week there. The initial 30 years of the Academy were comparatively easy going with no laws being stated by them till then. On the 20th of January 1699, this company was given its primary rules by Louis XIV. • 6. Camp Carp Psychology The upbeat, innocent jingle of the Wiggle s theme song played in the background as I heaved a sigh, slumping down onto the ground in exhaustion. Dylan laid on his bunk, completely lost to the world while immersed in the show. Although it was already our break, my breathing was still heavy from the events prior. I glanced at over at Kyle, my partnered counselor, who tiredly rubbed his face from his position on another bed. Dylan had pulled another fit at naptime, and despite our efforts to convince him to take a rest instead of overexerting himself, he hadn t been in the most compliant mood. After countless times of being refused a trip to the horseback riding platform due to the arduousness of the trek in the Central Texas heat and frequent absence of the horses Dylan had had the last straw with us. His frustration quickly escalated into an all out cabin shoe fight between the campers, which was exactly what it sounded shoes flung around as deadly projectiles. • 7. Voter Registration Fraud Case Study If accurate voter rolls aren t incentive, then maybe cost saving is. Since regulations very state to state, it is hard to assess national cost. Considering money is a motivating factor to change, a case study for registration cost was done using Oregon as the test subject. Pew considered every level of registration. Beginning locally, it determined printing and postage, staff salaries, and facilities. Additionally, the Secretary of State incurs expenses related to maintain the voter rolls, providing and distributing registration forms, training and assisting agencies involved with voter registration, and manning the toll free call center for public questions regarding registration. All totaled, Oregon spent almost nine million dollars registering voters for the 2008 election, that s $4.11 per active registered voter or $7.67 per registration transaction (Pew). Compare that cost to Canada, who maintains their voter roll using automatic registration, with just 35 cents per active voter (Pew). That is a significant cost savings.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arguably, any duplicitous activity surrounding our elections should be investigated and punished accordingly. Indeed, most allegations of voter fraud turn out to be clerical errors, and individual voter fraud is rare for two compelling reasons. First, individual fraud begets minimal votes, certainly not enough to win an election. And second, it comes with a severe penalty (Brennan). Henceforth, our country needs to find the balance between the possibility of fraudulent elections with the probability of voter suppression and disenfranchisement. Automatic voter registration not only mends the system, but also protects it by removing those that would most benefit from voter registration fraud from the process ie. political parties and partisan third party ... The song Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri has lots of spirit and emotions. This song is about a girl who is regaining her independence and confidence which was lost because of a heartbreaker and she expresses her story through anger and sadness. In Perri s song , the first verse and pre chorus show anger, depression, and recovery. In this verse I know I can t take... In the second stanza lines three and four she uses the style of a metaphor to express that she is independent. I ve grown too strong, to ever fall back in your arms, this does not mean she physically grew more muscle, but she grew emotionally. She now knows she is confident, self reliant and does not need her heartbreaker anymore. The 3rd verse is a flashback where the lyricist remembers how traumatic it was to recover from the pain. In the lines It took so long to feel alright, remember how to put back the light in my eyes, Perri uses imagery to say that it took her a long time to feel happy and stand on her feet all because her ex boyfriend was emotionally detrimental. She also explains that she regrets all the time she spent with her past boyfriend because he broke all his promises. The outro of Jar of Hearts (where it repeats who do you think you are four times) is her in disbelief that her past partner wants to return. Central tensions are used in this song such as dependence vs independence and anger vs happiness. To sum up this paragraph, Perri is now independent and represents that as she deeply despises her ex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The prince usually rescues the princess; they marry and live happily ever after. How do the makers of shrek use presentational devices to reverse this tradition to reveal the ogre as good and the prince as evil? In this essay I am going to analyse the characters of shrek and Lord Farquaad, and write about how filmmakers use different camera angles, lighting, music and setting to create an unusual fairy tale. At the start of shrek it starts like a traditional fairy tale until shrek s hand appears and rips out a page of a book and then rap music starts playing. In traditional fairy tales princes are meant to be brave, tall, strong and handsome but Lord Farquaad is small, ugly, scared, and weak, Lord Farquaad is not traditional because he is a nasty and evil character like when he is torturing the ginger bread man, plus he sends all the fairy tale creatures to shrek s swamp. He has an evil side when he sends shrek to rescue the princess from the dragons keep instead of going himself. When we first meet Lord Farquaad he is in the torture chamber and its very dull and the guards are dressed in black so it sets a scary and dull scene. Before Lord Farquaad asked shrek to rescue the princess he asks the best soldiers in the land to fight each other and the winner gets to kill the dragon but if they fail then the runner up would try, instead of going to try and rescue herself. This is his frightened and weak side of Lord Farquaad. In shrek there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Anglo Saxon Warrior Analysis The Expectations of an Anglo Saxon Warrior Paul Watson stated, I do what I do because it is the right thing to do. I am a warrior, and it is the way of the warrior to fight superior odds . In this quote, Paul Watson is describing the duty of a warrior. People have many assumptions as to what warrior s expectations were back in the Anglo Saxon Era. Warriors did whatever it took to finish their duty. In the poems, The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and Beowulf, warriors were big parts of the stories. Learning about what their expectations included was very helpful in determining the kind of people they were. Warriors in the Anglo Saxon Era were very loyal and brave to their kings and or higher powers. Warriors were also known for traveling great distances in certain circumstances. In all three poems, the expectations for warriors remained the same. Bravery can be shown throughout all three stories. Bravery can be described as courageous behavior or character. Epic heros were not the only people known for their bravery. Warriors showed bravery just as equally. In The Seafarer, it states, But there isn t a man on earth so proud / So born with greatness, so bold with his youth/ Grown so brave, or so graced by God ( The Seafarer 39 41). In The Wanderer, it states, Though woefully toiling on wintry seas/ With churning oar in the icy wave/ Homeless and helpless he fled from fate ( The Wanderer 3 5). During his years in Camelot, Gwaine had only been in this chamber a handful of times. Typically, his meetings with the king took place in more formal settings, or on the training field. He couldn t recall the last time when he had been summoned to speak with Arthur alone. The roguish knight felt a bit uneasy as he entered. He took a seat across the desk from Arthur and waited, twisting his hands nervously. Are you healing well from your capture? Arthur asked, referring to Gwaine s recent enslavement by Morgana. • 14. Myths around Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol DUI s have been on the rise in the past few years, therefore there have been many myths on how to not obtain a DUI or a DWI. New York became the pioneer state in which, they made to first drunk driving laws in 1910, followed shortly after California then the other forty eight states followed. These DUI laws stated that a driver could not operate a vehicle while under the influence, although intoxication was not defined by legislature at this period of time. Then in the 1930 s committees wanted to make the roads safer. So The American Medical Association started a committee that studied the most common issues that lead to accidents. Also the National Safety Council created a study that determined intoxication, they reached a conclusion that a Blood Alcohol Contentabove 0.15 was intoxicated and anything under a person was sober, this became the first legal limit for BAC in 1938. Although as time progressed the laws became stricter, this was due to various groups that petitioned against drunk driving. The pressure from these organizations led to changes, such as raising the legal drinking age to twenty one years of age, which was required for all states, yet drunk driving laws was not required by all police departments at this time. Then the legal limit was lowered to 0.10 from 0.15, then once lowered again to our legal limit we have to which is 0.08. I chose financial security as the most pressing issue facing the older population because it influences several other areas. Women s Employment During World War II Kevalee Snyder Ms. Holloway HL History P 2A 18 October 2016 Section 1: Identification and Evaluation of sources This investigation will explore the question: To what extent did women working factory jobs change feminine roles in society? The years from 1939 to 1945 will be the focus of this investigation, to allow for an analysis of women s employment before and during the war. The first source which will be evaluated in depth is a letter written by Mary Anderson in October of 1940. The origin if this source is a letter written by the director of the Women s Bureau of the U.S. department of Labor, to Studebaker the commissioner of education. Women s employment increased in America from under one percent in 1939 to over Forty six percent in 1943, and ninety percent of single women between the ages 18 59 were engaged in some form of factory work over the course of the war (Striking Women). Women were urged to take masculine positions in the workplace, in order to free up able bodied men for the line of duty. While women took many jobs over the course of the war the factory jobs were in the most demand. Factory workers were needed in order to build essential supplies for the war effort, such as bombs, heavy machinery, and auxiliary. The push for women showed a changing view of how capable women were sought after by companies. In 1943, more than 310,000 women worked in the U.S. aircraft industry, making up 65 percent of the industry s total workforce compared to just 1 percent in the pre war years (Striking Women). Women workers were recruited by the munitions industry, which was shown through the U.S. government s Rosie the Riveter propaganda campaign. Rosie the Riveter became one of the most successful recruitment tools in American history (Striking Wome ). Prior to World War II, propaganda targeting women had only been asking them to buy war bonds, plant victory gardens, and ration foods (Women, Gender, and World War). Rosie the Riveter was the first time a government had released a propaganda campaign where women had a job and were independent. This showed a newfound respect for women and their skills. The changes in societal interpretation of women allowed them to become more than homemakers, and put more focus on what women could do rather than what they looked like. The push for women in factories during the years 1939 to 1945 showed that women could be trusted around dangerous materials, conveyed a sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is shared among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are these ads truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in political campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people together to discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can encourage people to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is the best candidatefor President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be misleading. Many people feel that candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them look good and promise immediate changes which are either not possible or can take a long time to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro, who made many different types of images to make him look more popular (Document A). However, these images also help people decide who would be betterfor the job based off of looks, beliefs, and other attributes. I would use these to help make myself stand out from the other candidates by putting in true aspects into my campaign so they do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps decide what issues the public focuses on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for President try to get rid of the issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for them. Bandwagons use well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for a candidate because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement, glittering generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like the Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps get other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a candidate who already has a lot of public support. This ... • 22. Social Equality Essay Social Equality Synthesis of American History and Today The development of America as a nation was largely influenced by several key points in its history that gave rise to a country that is continuously struggling with social equality. First, the consolidation of the United States Constitution, in 1786, failed to legalize slavery, which contentiously allowed slavery to continue, dehumanizing blacks to lower positions in America s social hierarchy. Next, the changing dynamics of social roles redefined the traditional male and female societal responsibilities and obligations that generated a divide of gender issues. The issue prompted a surge of feminist activists that sought for gender equality that is still being debated today. Finally, in a current and contemporary example, President Trump s aggressive stance on immigration has forced many immigrants to be fearful of their current status in the country. This issues has been severely centered around race, which has been the core issue and debate with President Trump, Democrats, and the nation. From the 17th century to the 21st century, the United States debated and still debates social equality and what it means to be citizen and a member of society that was reflective through the degradation of slaves and blacks, women rights and their elevated roles in society, racial injustice of African Americans, and the immigration system of contemporary America. The Recuay also had double chamber vessels but these had one functioning spout and one sculpted, usually an animal or figure. • 24. Questions On Non Financial Firms 1. Introduction The 2007 2008 crisis started off in August 2007 as a subprime mortgage crisis primarily concentrated in the United States but quickly metamorphosized into a global financial crisis where financial institutions teeter on the edge of bankruptcy in many countries in addition to the United States. A global economic crisis ensues in which nonfinancial firms around the world appear to spiral downward as well. A key potential contributor to the plight of the non financial firms is the financial crisis itself, in the form of a negative shock to the supply of external finance needed by non financial firms. However, as the two quotes by some leading policymakers and scholars at the beginning of the paper indicate, the idea that non financial firms suffer from a strongly negative supply of finance shock is not universally shared. In addition, if non financial firms do not do well, there can certainly be other causes, such as a contraction of demand for their products. This paper has three objectives. First, it aims to develop a simple framework that can capture and quantify the relative importance of the finance shock to the economic health of non financial firms. Second, in a cross country context, it aims to investigate whether the responsiveness of the real economy to a given finance shock varies by country features that the literature suggests that could matter, such as the type of a financial system, the nature of a monetary and exchange rate regime, or the extent ... Initially PTSD raised concerns about its potential misuse in criminal courts, however, there were certain incidences where PTSD was found to be a legitimate phenomenon. Case in point, New Jersey v Cocuzza (1981). In this case, the defendant was a Vietnam veteran who was found not guilty for reason of insanitywhen he assaulted a police officer. My reasons derive from the way the evidence was presented in this case. On a December night, Babbit broke into Leah Schendel s apartment and brutally beat and sexually assaulted her. Her cause of death was determined to be heart failure caused by the stress related to the incident. The following night, Babbit robbed and attempted to rape another woman, Mavis Wilson. • 27. Martin Luther King, The Southern Christian Leadership... Under the leadership of Martin Luther King, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), bought the Black Civil Rights Movement and his desegregation concepts to Birmingham in 1963 for several reasons. The most pivotal of these reasons being his African American racial status and his Christian faith which drove him to fight for the rights his people deserved. He believed that the most racial injustice lay not only in the Southern states of America but in Birmingham, Alabama as expressed in his 1963 Letter from a Birmingham Jail, to fellow clergymen who criticized his methods, King stating, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. In Birmingham, much like other Southern American States public facilities such as parks, movie theatres, lunch bars, restaurants, and water fountains were segregated (African Americans had different, lesser facilities than the Whites) which ultimately led King, SCLC, and ordinary African American citizens to hold these non violent protests to have the desegregation they had sought after for many years. His second reason to bring the Black Civil Rights Movement to Birmingham was due to their Commissioner of Public Safety, Eugene Bull Connor. Connor was greatly opposed to the idea of segregation and King knew Connor s reaction to the non violent movement he had proposed would be one of violence and aggression. The town also had a history of extreme violence, not only towards African Americans but nigger lovers alike. Examples ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon realizing his mistake of solely letting Regan and Goneril inherit his kingdom, Lear is ashamed that [his daughters have the] power to shake [his] manhood (I.iv.299 301). His daughters, who are women and are therefore considered to be less important and powerful in his society, have taken control of Lear s power and life, and it is embarrassing to him as he is used to receiving constant honour, pride, and glory as the King. • 40. The Fault in Our Tsars The evolution of Russian absolutism brought a new era of social and cultural expectations that drastically altered the life and society of Russia until the twentieth century. The impact the evolution of absolutism had on Russian life cannot be understated nor can it be overlooked. Therefore, it is important for us to look at three key defining eras during which absolutism was strongest in Russia: the Mongols, Ivan IV, and Peter the Great. These three rulers helped to shape much of what would be defined as the Russian absolutism that would shape the future of the Russian Empire. While it would be easy to begin our exploration of Russian absolutism with the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the true beginnings of absolutist rule in Russia came with the arrival of the Mongols. Known to the Russian people as Tatars, the Mongols ruled over Russia with an iron fist and exposed them to Eastern religion. As a result of this, Russia remained secluded from the advancing world of the west and it prohibited growth that the rest of Europe was experiencing. The Mongols were conquerors and destroyed everything that caused them grief or they did not understand. While the Mongols would allow for much of the cultural distinctions to remain in their conquered territories they would demand tribute or the population would have to face the consequences. • 41. Alexis De Tocqueville, And Max Weber s Analysis The idea of human freedom is seen in multiple aspects through the eyes of multiple theorists. Human freedom is an extensive topic because it extends throughout many different aspects of life, such as politics, religion, and education to name a few. Throughout this paper, I intend to address the aspects of human freedom as seen through the writings of Emile Durkheim, Alexis de Tocqueville, and Max Weber. Each theorist presents his own ideas on what human freedom really is and how it can exist, but they also share a few ideas as well. Durkheim is best known for his work Suicide in which he discusses the restraints and regulations put on members of society. For Durkheim, this is where human freedom exists; liberty exists in restraint.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men tend to cling to equality more than freedom because the advantages are instantaneously evident, and they think it will last forever. Oppositely, the advantages of freedom are not as quickly evident, and after all, Western society is all about the now and how quick one can see results for their efforts. Political liberty requires great exertion while political equality evidences itself everywhere and is much easier to come by. Because of this, Tocqueville believes that if men seek equality and freedom and do not find it, they may seek equality in other things, even things as preposterous as equality in slavery. Democracy is about freedom and equality alike. Equality, however, is an insatiable desire of men. For Tocqueville, I think the positive outcomes of freedom need to more quickly evident in order for people to crave it as they do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Trauma Of Everyday Life After reading the Trauma of Everyday Life , what I found intriguing was what the Buddha called Realistic View . According to the realistic View, trauma neither a mistake nor a failure (Epstein, 2003, p. 2). I agree with this because I have lost relatives in my life but I did not consider them to be mistakes or failure, I accepted that they had to go because it was their time. The only thing I regretted is that I did not spend as much as I would love. I was raised a Christian and belong to a Pentecostal church. Since moving to New York I have one been to church a couple of times but I still consider myself a Christian. I believe spirituality and religion are important aspects of a person s life. Later on in his painting career, he showed different art to his other paintings, showing the poor side of his personality. This can be shown in his painting called Nativity , as the painting is sharply defined and with cold colours. Botticelli s style of painting had influenced many people and many artists who then became famous, also changing the way people look at art. • 44. Narrative Essay For College Gowing up to spend the past 18 years of my life on the Chicago Westside has been an interesting journey. I currently live in the Austin community, where there is a population of 98,514 in 2010 and 85.1% is Black, 8.58% is Hispanic, and 4.43% is White. Growing up in an area of complete violence and poverty felt like a game. Making sure you stay on your side of the block, making sure you re home before dark, and even making sure you never walk alone. Never. A lot of people get scared when they hear about a life like this, but it s reality for me, and I honestly feel pretty comfortable with the people surrounding me. They look like me, talk like me, and even dress like me. We all watch out for each other. It s a family beyond blood that was built in my community. I live on a block where it is 95% Black. • 45. The Impact Of Television On Television Television has come to define American culture and its youth in very significant ways. What began as a platform for entertainment has branched out into becoming a remarkable and unexpected way for younger children to learn. It is important to note what is being broadcasted on television because of how much influence it has on the youth. It has become the dominant storyteller in homes rather than parents, the church, or schools (Signorielli, 2001). As technology further advances, children are generally also becoming more comfortable with televisionand therefore spending more time watching television.
