STRIATED MUSCLES
They are also called skeletal muscles,
because they are closely attached to
bones and tendons.
They contain cross striations, hence the
name striated muscles or striped muscle.
Skeletal muscles are voluntary muscle.
NON-STRIATED MUSCLES
These muscles lack dark and light striations.
They look smooth, hence the name smooth
muscles.
They contract automatically and rhythmically, so
they are called involuntary muscles.
They are found in the hollow visceral organs
such as urinary bladder, gastro intestinal tract
etc..
CARDIAC MUSCLES
These muscles are only found in the
heart.
They show both the properties of
striated and non striated muscles as
well as their own unique features.
Cardiac muscles frequently branches to
form junctions with neighboring cells.
Involuntary in nature.
