completing the PG research in Textile Technology , at the Univ. of Leeds [UK ,1979] on a UK /WIRA scholarship.
My key areas of professional and work contributions in the textile and Garment industry have been field based
Studies of major garment producing countries, their Diagnostic cum gap analysis via a vis major challenges ,and
towards improvements in working practices in the Textile and Garment value chain.
Core expertise areas:
In -depth understanding of integration in the Textile and clothing industry Supply Chain, right from Cotton to
yarn spinning to fabric manufacturing to fabric making via weaving and/or Knitting,its dyeing /finishing and
manufacturing of Garments with special interest in the diagnostics and understanding of the Garment making
value chain` .This has included the implementation of a focused and inclusive approach in the sector based on
identification of core Gaps via on floor Mill studies ,the key challenges and potential mitigation via Skill upgradation
`needs`. Other than the private sector, I have advised and served the public sector Textile undertakings like National
Textile Corporation of India,and also UP State Textile Corporation,of the state of UP. Now serving SIIDCUL ,in State
of Uttarakhand,for planning and advisory for the 100 Acre sustainable Textile Park dedicated to small and mid size
Garment making units with focus on training and employment to the local area women.
Also providing monitoring advisory ,with Grant Thornton India, for Apparel manufacturing centres set up in the
North-east states, by the Ministry of Textiles
Contributed to MPDF/IFC on the field assessment of the Garment making in the knitwear sector in Vietnam,and
presently working in overseas locations in textile and garment manufacturing countries of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan,
Nepal and B.Desh.
Recently,a project was also prepared and delivered for setting up a SSDC-Specialised Skill Development Centre-
for garment and Textile industry {workers and supervisors } in the state of Gujarat, in India.

Professional & Mill project services:
For work with the garment and textile units, the focus has been the study and improvement to the operational
practices and imparting good practices to the processes of running textile Units ; and also the planning of new
projects of Greenfield garment and textile units with focus on `value addition` via the vertically integrated
garment units eg Knitting to knit garments.This initiative has helped in cost reduction in the supply chain.
Academic contributions:
In addition to the long work accrued in the textile and Clothing industry and projects;I have regularly
contributed as a Visiting Faculty and domain expert on part time basis for academic delivery at the leading
Apparel and textile institutes in the country and including premier institutions like the National Institute of Fashion
Technology[NIFT at Newdelhi] and the ASFT/Amity University ,near Delhi.
I have also advised and assistedsetting up a new regional Garment & fashion Instt. namely S I F T,in Punjab state.
WTC Textile complex, Baniwalid ,Libya
 Worked as production planning Head for this integrated textile and Clothing complex.set up by UnionMatex
and International Wool Sectt. [IWS] consortium in mid 1980s.
 Contributed to production of Woollen knit garments made on large circular Knitting machines,and employing
women workers from Libya &Turkey.The project also comprised of Wool processing to carpet making plant.
Mekong Project Delta Fund/ IFC, Ho Cho MinhCity,Vietnam
 Implemented a unit wise Study for enhancing the operational efficiency of Knitwear Garment making units in Bao
Loc province,in Vietnam.
The study involved observing and detailing the work load and working conditions of the workers on production
floors.
 Implemented the detailed Feasibility Report for working of 6 such units as a networked cluster for Knit garments.

Chinin Inc, Oakbrook, USA
 Advised on cost effective sourcing and quality improvement of garment sourcing programs of this US based
large importer Co. ,that required production from 20 vendor units in the garment cluster of Tirupur,south India.
 Implemented a method of garment costing based on Cost plus margin systemin total garment supply chain.
 Currently advising Fayettechill clothing Co.in the USA,for their sourcing of ready to use knit fabric for garments.

IWS Study
 Implemented a short field Study for the International Wool Secttt. with Vinatex Vietnam for potential of
exportable garment making ,in Hanoi area,Vietnam.
 Have also worked as Consultant to the ITDG,UK,for their work with rural textile clusters in the state of
Gujarat,using hand made fabrics.
 Worked as lead consultant for the UNDP /Ministry of Textiles Study, of handmade Carpet clusters across
India…implemented over year 2004-2205

 Implemented a detailed field Study over 2014 and 2015 for the International Trade Centre/UNDP for challenges
faced and market competitiveness of Textile spinning,weaving,processing and knitwear making units in Khatlon
& Sogd regions in Tajikistan,like Textile City, Nohid Knitting Co, Rahemov Khujand city and Ortex Khujand city.
OVERSEAS ASSIGNMENTS:

3.  Presently continuing this work for B2B advisory on good operational practices for using denim and yarn dyed
cloth for Garment making in Tajikistan,with applications of Reactive dyes for cotton.
 Also studied the gaps in `skill upgradation`and need for setting up Skill development institute for garment
units.This work has lead to the recent MOU signed by the Tech University of Tajikistan with NITRA ,India,for
setting up a specialised Skill Develop.Centre for training Garment workers.
ILFS/MEA Study ,of Textile and cotton sector units in Kazakhstan,CIS
Implemented a detailed field Study in Sept. 2015 for India s ILFS CLUSTER DEVELOP. to assess the current scenario
and potential of the cotton and Textile sector in the southern Kazak hstan and its SEZ Shymkent. During this
Study,interactions were held with World Bank regional office regarding Uzbekistan cotton realated issues.

manufacturing of 5000 garment per day with inhouse diversification to `open cut` Knit fabric vis a vis waste/cost
reduction for same.
 On site Implementation of `expansion` project for M/s Innovative Textiles ltd ,at Butibori near Nagpur, for
manufacturing of 7000 garment per day with inhouse diversification to `open cut` fabric vis a vis waste/cost

project for UPSIDC, Govt of UP, at Tronica city location, near to Newdelhi.,
TEXTlLE PARKS: Presently advising as independent Textile consultant for planning of `mega Textile Park`with
garment making focus at Sitarganj Ind.Area, in north India for Siidcul corporation of the State of Uttarakhand.
Also advising on setting up a mini Wool and handloom based Common Facility Centre,for Directorate of Industries,in
the state of Uttarakhand.This will help create a cluster for producing designed Wool based Garments by 400-450
women weavers in the adj.villages.
