1. MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES / ADIMEN ANITZAK The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes eight different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential in children and adults. These intelligences are: Linguistic intelligence (“word smart”) Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”) Spatial intelligence (“picture smart”) Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence (“body smart”) Musical intelligence (“music smart”) Interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”) Intrapersonal intelligence (“self smart”) Naturalist intelligence (“nature smart”) 1.2. Multiple Intelligences Survey Multiple Intelligences is Howard Gardner's psychological theory about people and their different types of intelligences (logical, visual, musical, etc.). This test will help you discover your strongest types of intelligence and how these types helps you to learn.

1. Either read, or listen as your teacher
reads each of the statements on a page.
2. Colour in the faces:
If a statement is like you,
fill the smiling face with green. 
If you can’t decide whether or not
the statement is like you, colour
the middle face yellow.

If a statement is not like you,
colour the frowning face red. 
3. If you aren’t sure what a statement
means, ask your teacher.

1. Turn back and look at the Number

2. Count the number of smiley faces you
coloured on that page.

3. Turn to the back of this booklet and
find the wedge of the pie graph that is
labelled Number Smart (orange).
4. Starting at the centre section of
Number Smart, colour one section for
each of the smiley faces you have
counted. (Use orange for this wedge).
5. Do the same for the other 7 types of
Smart, using the colours shown on the
graph.
