- 3. Today You are going to begin writing your theory assignment for multicamera production. You will have the next three weeks to complete this in class. We will quickly recap some of the key points of multi-camera film-making first.
- 4. What two types of programme are filmed using a multicamera setup? Live events Studio programmes
- 5. What different live events might we film? Sports Public events (royal wedding, state funerals, Olympics) Concerts and music festivals Theatre productions Conferences
- 6. Why film live events using mutlicamera? Can be broadcast almost immediately Can cover all of the action from multiple angles Can be edited live using a vision mixer We only have 1 chance to capture action live, there is no way to re-shoot the footage (as it is real life)
- 7. What is a studio programme?
- 8. What different types of studio programmes are there? Game shows Magazine shows Panel shows Talk shows
- 9. Why do producers choose to film studio programmes using a multi- camera setup? Controlled environment: lighting, electric, sound can all be controlled Much of the equipment is on hand to be loaned Can rent the space for a small amount of time, or for longer periods depending on how many days filming you have planned
- 10. What are the advantages of multi- camera over single camera? Quicker to film More cameras can cover more angles at once Can be edited live, saving lots of time in post- production If something needs to be broadcast live multicamera allows us to produce something professional in real- time then beam it live to viewers at home.
- 11. What are the disadvantages? more equipment, more space needed Less creative in terms of shot types and composition More crew needed Much more expensive.
- 12. What constraints might face TV producers in the studio? Some segments won’t be suitable for indoors filming The size of the space might restrict whats possible Sets need to be constructed, this costs money and takes expertise Need artificial lighting Costs a lot of money to rent a studio
