During the construction of a project, the author learned several new technologies including: 1) How to create flickering text effects in After Effects by layering movement over text. 2) Advanced skills in After Effects like video adjustment layers to simulate night footage. 3) Designing graphics and logos in Photoshop using color splitting modifiers. 4) Modifying sound clips to suit timing and create the right effects for viewers.

2. During the construction of the product, I have learnt many new technologies, they are:
 How to flicker text with different phases and colours – In After Effects, I was able to use a text layer, and
manipulate it in a way that made it look like it was flickering, or ‘glitching’ as some people may say. I did this
by applying a layer that had a lot of block movement over the top of the text, and blending it with the text.
This benefitted me and my work, as it allowed me to use the idea of it flickering with the persona of my
antagonist in the story.
 To furthermore use After Effects (a graphical and VFX editing program) – As well as creating the necessary text
and video effects for the story, I was able to improve my skills with the program, as I now understand features
that I had never heard of before. Some of these are a night filter, which consists of many video adjustment
layers (curves, levels, saturation, brightness and contrast) collaborating as one to make the video look like it
was filmed at night.
 To furthermore use Photoshop to create graphics of which were appropriate to the story of my title and
opening sequence – I designed my logo for my production company, and my opening sequence. Both of which
brought me to creating new types of logos and thinking of new ideas. I was able to use an RBG (Red, blue and
green) modifier to allow the colours to split.
How to modify sound clips so that they would fit in with the footage I had, and made sure that they created the
right effect for the viewer – although some of the sound effects that I had were perfect for the moment in the
footage, some needed to be modified so that they suited the story, and the timing on the footage. This will have
helped to make sure that the video is more professional, and realistic.

3. I created my sequence in ‘Adobe After Effects’, which is an editing program that has the ability to do
any effect you can think of. My titles were also created in After Effects, as it has the ability to create
and modify text upon video. Different to my footage and text, I created the logos for my opening
sequence and Production Company in Adobe Photoshop, a graphics design program.
When it came to using the cameras, I learned many new techniques which helped me to film. These
included the use of the cameras manual focus modes, and the angles that I could position the camera
in to take the shot. Without the knowledge of the angles, the opening sequence would constantly be
samey, and would in no way appeal to my target audience.
