Peace Tree Research Paper
Spilling down a slope overlooking Jerusalem, the Peace Forest symbolizes the unity of Jerusalem after
the Six Day War, harmony between Arab and Jewish people and the hope for peace in a land birthed
and raised in turmoil. Here, the city plants a tree for EVERY child born in Jerusalem. According to
Moshe Rivlin, who served as chairman of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) until his death in 2004, In
most countries people are born to forests, and forests are given to them by nature. But here in this
country, if you see a tree, it was planted by somebody.
Every nation grooms its forests, planting replacement trees, keeping forests in place for environmental
and aesthetic reasons, but Israel HAD to plant trees. We know there were trees in Biblical
Israel...When the Queen of Sheba knocked on Solomon s palace door...ostensibly to observe his
wisdom...1st Kings 10:27 notes that silver was as plentiful as ... Show more content on

Thankfully, today, due to a massive reforestation campaign by the JNF, contemporary Israel boasts no
less than 280 forests consisting of 185 million trees. This dedication to reforesting the Holy Land,
even as many predicted failure, has changed the landscape of the country, rolling back the desert in
several areas and significantly affecting the quality of the environment.
The Peace Forest project began at the end of the Six Day War in 1967 and unknown to those who
embarked on the task, a marvelous archaeological discovery waited underneath newly planted trees.
Many archaeological discoveries in Israel come from pure chance, someone starts to build a house,
someone plows a field, somebody decides to remodel or workers begin to widen a road....in a forest!
During a project to widen a road through the Peace Forest, workers stumbled across an unusually large
burial site which yielded a bone box or

Ethnographic Reflection
Raybeck describes several adventures and misadventures involving field research in his account of the
year and a half he spent in Kelantan. He also discusses the understanding, humility and scars that these
experiences may leave behind. Raybeck provides in depth descriptions of Kelantanese society and
culture. He addresses topics such as political structures, the status of women, kinship, linguistics, and
economics. Additionally, he demonstrates for us how challenging yet rewarding anthropological
fieldwork can be, and we see how he builds rapport in a research setting in order to ensure that the
information he acquires is reliable.
Two of the main techniques used by Raybeck were learning the language, and interviewing key
informants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, this extra effort to blend in with and accept the Kelantanese way of life is what perhaps
prevented Raybeck s presence from having an impact on the culture he was studying.
There are many instances throughout the ethnography when the writer appears to be going through
culture shock, and the impact of the culture he is studying on him becomes evident. For instance, thed
Kelantanese disregard and even contempt of the concept of privacy is something that takes him and
his wife some getting used to. Similarly, the ethnographer is confused when their dressing in
traditional garb is interpreted as him and his wife s willingness to convert to Islam. There are other
times through his stay when he is expected to take a stand on political and ethical matters, and he finds
himself struggling to maintain neutrality yet not earn the contempt of the villagers.
Raybeck encountered numerous ethical issues, including but not limited to prostitution, murder, and
smuggling. As before, the writer tried his very best to adopt a neutral stand, and participate only
minimally and if asked to by the parties involved. Raybeck quickly learns that one s actions in such
matters are what are used to gage one s loyalty to a specific group or individual within the community.
Aware of this impact, he tries to stay as

Interracial Marriage
Everybody is human, everybody walks, and everybody talks, so why care what they say. Many choose
to be unique and not care about irrelevant people. Interracial Marriage is one of the less cared about
marriages. Most people do not approve of any type of interracial marriage or mixed race children in a
family of another race. People were not born to hate, they were raised to be that way. Every individual
has a right to be there own person, but don t have enough respect not to show it around people who
may disapprove in it anyway. Not everybody can help who they fall in love with. Whether it is a
younger or older person. A Mexican or an African American. Many laws and preferences have
changed since 1619, which was also the year that the first interracial marriage happened. Some people
who were raised in racism may think different about interracial marriage or as many may say it is a
sin. Nobody goes throughout a whole entire day without committing a sin because nobody is perfect.
Maybe there is a reason a white woman prefers African American males or a Mexican woman prefers
a white male, maybe something happened in their lives with their own race that made them change
their course in thought. Many older people do not approve the interracial marriage or relationship
because they had to live through slavery, wars, and all the trauma of the loss of a loved one due to the
other race. This generation may not understand how they feel because they did not have to go through

White Fang Quotes
In Jack London s novel White Fang there is a concealed message throughout the book that makes this
publication particularly special. The story tells about a young cub growing up to become a very brave
and courageous figure. This cub shows how he can survive through anything or any environment he is
put into. There are three main examples of White Fangs toughness, bravery, and courage in the novel.
He is the only cub in his whole litter of puppies to survive. He gets tossed around and has to learn how
to fight other dogs for his life under the ownership of Beauty Scott. In his final environment, he lives
with a nice and loving owner, Weedon Scott. He becomes a tamed and loving pet in this setting. White

White fang was born in a cave along with other cubs that his mother gave birth to. His mother s name
was Kiche. She was a very brave dog who roamed the cold Alaskan wild with her mate One Eye. The
cubs had to grow up in a famine. Four of the cubs die, but the gray cub survived and waited on One
Eye to bring food. (Overview: White Fang). This one brave cub was White Fang. One day, while
roaming the cave, White Fang s fear of leaving the cave was overcome by curiosity. White Fang saw
the daylight of the cave as some kind of magic wall of light. He stepped up to it and his eyes finally
saw and focused upon the beautiful nature that the world had to offer. He stepped out of the cave and
tumbled down the hill before the entrance (Novels for Students). He went out into the open and
wandered about the forest and rocks of the Alaskan wilderness. While being curious and wandering
about the forest, White Fang came upon some chicks in a nest and ate them. When the mother hen
returned to the nest and fought him back by pecking his nose. His next encounter was a river. He tried

Why Design Can Not Remain Exclusive The Writers
Since the NSFNet was decommissioned in the early 1990 s and restrictions on commercial traffic was
removed, (Costello,2016) we have seen the individual empowered to a point where they can compete
with the tradition, media, retail and content outlets.(Abel, 2011) Right now, with social networks and
other tools on the Internet, all of these 500 million people have a way to say what they re thinking and
have their voice be heard. (Heussner, 2016) With this technological advancement, the individual has
been emancipated from total reliance on the publishers, record labels and retailers. Any individual
with access to the internet, can share their work and has the opportunity to create a stir within an
industry. In Open Design Now: Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book Open Design Now: Why Design Cannot Remain Exclusive, Open design is defined as,
distributed manufacturing processes that emphasise the use related capabilities of openness . (Van
Abel, Evers, and Klaassen, 2014) Through information technology, digital manufacturing uses a
network of collaborative facilities that enable manufacturing to be sourced locally. We no longer have
to be restricted to using a single factory or distributor (Liu, Wang, and Wei, 2009). This method
compared to traditional low cost labour options, is more economically sound. In an Article, The Rise
of Distributed Manufacturing and 7 advantages over Traditional Manufacturing (Robinson,2014),
writer Adam Robinson gives two examples of an imaginary company that goes through the traditional
means of manufacturing and distributed manufacturing. In the traditional example a company must
source cheap labourers for the production of their product. when the product is made they are sent via
shipping containers, emitting fuels and taking additional time from the transportation process. If the
product were to undergo a distributed manufacturing process then the company would locally source
experts, there would be a higher labour cost for the design process but the additional costs would be
proportionate to the time and expense saved in the transport costs involved in the Traditional method.
(Robinson,2014) So what does the open in Open design mean?

Phillis Wheatley Research Papers
Phillis Wheatley was the the first African American writer to have her books published in the United
States. Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral written by Wheatley was viewed as a model
for the importance of education with religious aspects, as it was often seen throughout her poetry.
Formulated mainly of neoclassical elegiac poetry, Poems on Various Subjects triggered several
discussions concerning the length to which Wheatley can be deemed a minor poet or whether she
wrote to express politics and moral trouble. Born in West Africa, Phillis Wheatley was bought at a
slave auction in 1791 by the wife of a Boston trader. During that time it was routine to rename the
slave to the family s last name which is how Phillis became a Wheatley. She ... Show more content on

England and the new world colonies. A few years later, Wheatley journeyed to England with one of
the Wheatley boys and was viewed as royalty, mostly by the anti slavery groups and other activists.
One anti slavery activist in particular, Selina Hastings, defended the publication in France of her
collections Poems on Various Subjects. King George III was a part of Wheatley s audience but
Wheatley could not attend the meeting because she needed to take care of Mrs. Wheatley who was
deathly ill. After the passing of her owner, Phillis Wheatley became a freed slave. She lost all contact
with friends and family of the Wheatley s after being freed and her attempts at having another book of
poetry published failed. Wheatley married another freed slave soon after her own freedom and went

Human Rights And The United Nations
What are human rights? Some might ask. Human rights is a right that is believed to belong justifiably
to every person. But not everyone has these rights. How would you like to wake up everyday and hear
gunshots and hearing a rocket hitting a buildings and your mom and dad hiding under a table. Then
have strangers coming to your house and taking away your family. That is what the people in Syria
feel like for the past 5 years. Things have gotten worse ever since ISIS came along and took over the
area. This topic has many sides to it from the president to the presidential nominees and the United
Nations. The United Nations has to do more to fix this problem before it gets and worst.

Scourging Of The Four Martyrs Summary
Niccolo di Pietro Gerini s Scourging of the Four Crowned Martyrs (1385 90) depicts a scene in which
four martyrs are pursued by a group of men with some scourging tool (which resembles a modern day
rake). A late Gothic painting in which Gerini depicts a Catholic story of the Four Crowned Martyrs,
the Scourging incorporates much of the static, stiff forms which are characteristic of the period s
prevailing style. In the painting, one can notice clear divisions of space, distinct separations of forms
within that space, and emphases on the men doing the scourging within that space as a function of
where the light is directed in the painting. An analysis of these three key elements of the painting
suggests a cohesive assertion about the way the painting s subjects are depicted within the image.
Initially it seems apparent that the four martyrs are depicted in a negative manner with the scourging
men taking precedence. However, an analysis beyond the obvious elements particularly the figure
suspended in the air and the devilish figures attacking the scourging men suggest that the four martyrs
are actually being depicted in a more positive light. A brief discussion of the subject matter of the
painting serves as an important starting point. The most obvious subjects, as suggested by the title of
the piece, are the four crowned martyrs. Located on the far right side of the painting to the viewer are
the four crowned martyrs being pursued by the men in front of them (to our

Essay On Autistic Spectrum Disorder
Over 200,000 cases of Autism are diagnosed each year, that 1 in 95 children per year on average.
Autism is a developmental disorder that is currently has no cure, but treatment and therapy can help
the individual adapt and interact in today s society. This disease is becoming more prevalent in every
year. Many adults live with this disease, but due to the lack of information and awareness of the
disease in previous years, many are undiagnosed. Autism Spectrum disorder is a disease process that
hinders an individual s ability to interact and communicate. Autistic Spectrum Disorder is both a
genetic and neurological disorder with its cause being of mostly unknown etiology. The severity of the
symptoms vary widely and can include, repetitive behavior, obsessive behavior, difficulty interacting
with others, and difficulty with communication. Clinical diagnosis is required to discover if an
individual has Autism. Some people are more predisposed having Autism, for instance, males have a
moderately higher rate of having Autism than females. Autism usually appears during the first three
years of a persons life. Autism is a chronic disorder that occurs for many years or throughout their
lifetime. Ages affected are equal from ages three to sixty, with a lower number of diagnoses from birth
until two and from ages sixty and up. There are multiple signs of Autistic Spectrum disorder that can
be detected. Such as lack of emotional reaction to stimuli, no happy expressions ... Show more content

Physiological And Pathological Systems Within The...
Redox signalling is an electron transfer process that is crucial in biological systems. Redox signalling
is found in many physiological and pathological systems within the circulatory system. Redox
signalling is usually induced by an overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can alter
the functions of cell processes. Harris,(2012). ROS are radicals that contain one or more unpaired
electrons and can be the oxygen radical superoxide or the non radical hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
ROS can also contribute to vascular modelling by phenotype modification of the smooth muscle cells,
growth and even the death of cells. This shows the need for redox signalling and it has many roles
within the body. Harris. (2012). Redox signalling is important as exposure to oxidative stress can
cause imbalances that can contribute to infections and toxins. Thiol based redox couples can form
independent signals that can regulate any imbalances and are linked to any changes that occur in redox
potentials. Harris. (2012). Cysteine is an amino acid and it can undergo oxidative modifications to
perform different functions. Cysteine can form cross links to stabilise proteins and it functions as a
reversible on/off switch in redox signalling. Paget,(2003). Cysteine is a nucleophile that can react
under different conditions, due to the thiol functional group. Conte,et al. (2000). Thiols contain
sulphur and hydrogen and this gives them a higher acidity than alcohols. . Redox cysteine thiols

The First Encounter
Assignment #2
Are we alone in the universe? Scientists have been trying to answer this question for many years. As
of now there has not been any rock solid evidence to prove that there is life outside this world, but
there is an overwhelming amount of people that believe that there is life. People only believe that
there is life outside earth, they don t know there is. It is hard to know that extra terrestrials exist unless
a person has an encounter with one. A person named Claude Vorilhon (Rael) had an encounter with an
alien and was told that we were all experiments to the aliens. The alien insisted for him to spread the

This third belief is that we are living in the age of apocalypse humanity is now living in a time when it
is scientifically advanced enough to understand its origins . Since the nuclear bomb was dropped on
Hiroshima, Japan in 1945, Rael said it was at point where we entered the age of apocalypse. The
fourth belief is an embassy must be built for the arrival of the Elohim. quot;An unannounced and
undesired landing would have enormous political, economic, and social repercussions with disastrous
consequences worldwide. quot; If this embassy isn t built for their arrival, then the welfare of humans
may be in danger. The Elohim will only come to earth when an embassy is built. The fifth belief is that
there are infinite levels of life. Our earth is a small particle in the universe as we are a small part of our
earth, the living organisms in our bodies are small particles of our body, this cycle continues
indefinitely. Rael s message explains that our Earth is only one atom that forms a miniscule part of a
gigantic being. That gigantic being, in turn, is but one individual who lives on a planet that is only one
atom of an even larger being, and this structure exists indefinitely. The sixth belief is that the Raelians

her young age she is quiet honest and this allows her to paint a great picture to the audience of the
brutal abuse that Eugene bestows upon his family. This is as a result of her sensitive, intelligent and

household. This setting is the only setting in the entire book where domestic violence is present.
Adichie uses a variety of things and rooms within this setting to bring out domestic violence some
examples are the figurines, Eugene and Beatrice s room and the bathroom.
4b) the entire setting of Nigeria brings out the theme of oppression especially political oppression. All
of Nigeria is suffering as a result of the political oppression, including Abba Town, Enugu and Ifeoma

searched by the military for no good reason.

about religion different that she had been taught be her father. It was in Aunty Ifeoma s house that
Kambili understood her grandfather s traditionalist religion and was able to make a link between
Catholicism and Traditionalist.

Memoirs Of A Geisha Thesis
Memoirs of a Geisha is based off of a true story of a famous Geisha during WWII. The movie starts
when Sayuri was sold into an okiya and ends in her adulthood. Reflecting on the historical aspects of
the movie, it seems to have done well staying accurate. For example: the importance of okiyas, change
caused by the war, and the architectural styles seen in the movie work well for that time. One thing the
movie accurately describes in relation to AP World History is textiles (trade) specifically with the
material used for making kimono. Many times the importance of kimono is expressed in the movie as
it helps show the worth of geisha and maiko. Making kimono was labor intensive back then and quite

Newsworthiness of Child Abuse Cases
Society is now what Downing, Mohammadi and Mohammadi (1990) would call a media culture , this
is where the perceptions and images of reality are often shaped by the actions and decisions of news
editors and producers (Surrette, 1992). The role of the media according to O Shaughnessy and Stadler
(2008) is to give the public an insight on what is happening in the world and to make sense of that
information to the public. The main focus of this essay will be looking two main concepts which are
newsworthiness and the dark figure of crime, relating 5 news articles that are centred around child
abuse that have featured in the New Zealand Herald and stuff.co.nz.
The media plays an important role in society by creating and shaping society s attitudes about most
current issues including child abuse. In New Zealand, as well as in the international media, the
physical abuse of a child regularly features in the newspapers, magazines, radio and television

knowledge that they gain through reading newspapers or mass media like the television or radio.
Kitzinger (2004) states that our individual view and sense of the world are a social construct and the
media are an important resource to help us construct that world view.
The way that child abuse is reported in the media has become what you would call entertainment
where there seems to be an incline towards dramatising child abuse in a

Hamlet And Family Dysfunctional In William Shakespeare s...
Hamlet..? We all know, and have heard of the great play, and book of the famous tragedy that was
made by Shakespeare. Some debate to see the story as a good piece of art to something that teaches
and also reveals some traits that people have. When we all think of hamlet I believe we think of a
crazy time were a king was killed for a throne, and it just so happens to be the death of a king who had
an insane family, but there is so much more to it then that. Hamlet is a bunch of things when I look at
it. What I see is a time and place were the actions of people were expressed in a way that the world is
not perfect. We see this royal family with deep family disfunction, distrust and mistrust within each
other, and just straight up corruption. People need to understand that this play holds deadly truths and
lies, but also a handful of passion, sadness, and the need of love. But sometimes love can come with
piece. A powerful word to describe the Hamlet family is very dysfunctional. Family dysfunction rules
out there hope of trusting one another and depending on the family to even be a family. In the book
Hamlet as you read through the pages, you will begin to see that. The whole family will rarely sit with
each other and just enjoy the presence of their company without being suspicious of some accusation
that just happens to be brought up, it s as if to call it a big family dysfunction. Having a family is
really big part of growing up and when your father dies, as

How Did Jackie Robinson s Impact On American Sports
Jackie Robinson once said, The way I figured it, I was even with baseball and baseball with me. The

knew at the end, he will accomplish the impossible during the nineteens. Jackie impact on baseball
changed the face of American sports. Without Jackie s courage, American sports will not be the same.
Jackie s contribution to baseball made segregation a history and his number a memory. Jackie
Robinson was an important figure during the nineteens of American History because he fought
segregation against Negro baseball players. Jackie came to life during January of 1919 at Cairo,

Shayla Smith
Summer Swimming Incident
Shayla Smith stayed a few nights of summer vacation with her friend, Tamara, whose Mom and Dad,
Bob and Susan Tuttle, took Shayla and their daughter, Tamara, camping. Shayla s mom was happy for
the break, as Shayla is dyslexic, and that has caused her to have a difficult time at school.
Consequently, she acts out, and is a handful for her single mom!
The campground is small, but has a fun mini golf game, hiking trails, and has a pool, but no diving
board, and no lifeguard; it is a sand bottom pool, fed by an artesian well, so it is clean, but murky.
The owners, Owen and Dolly Jones, who own and operate the campground, don t have any security on

Mary was cooperative during the interview and was very responsive to my questions. However, she

Mary repeatedly asked me how long the case would take and mentioned her large bills from Shayla s

provides no financial support for Shayla s care. Mary does not have any kind of insurance.
I found Mary to be a nice looking woman though a bit frazzled. She was articulate but talked a little

Where is the campground located?
Who was supervising Shayla and Tamara?
What is the layout of the pool? How deep and large is it?
Were there any signs around the pool?
Is there a lifeguard on duty?
Have there been previous incidences at this campground pool?
I am not sure Mary and Shayla have a viable case, as more investigation is needed. Recommend that

Why Is Standardized Testing Outdated
The standardized tests nowadays are outdated. It limits the shape of student learning (Squire). The

education is to assist us to get equipped for the future. Though, all we do is standardized testing,
which is an outdated way to measure someone s intelligence. Why should we still use a standardized

He said this about standardized testing. These tests are too crude to be used and should be abandoned.

Customs And Courtesies Of The Air Force
Customs and courtesies go back all the way to the to the beginning of the Air Force and well beyond.
Customs and courtesies are how people show respect to others as well as objects such as the American
flag. Through out Detachment 630 s cadet wing we show customs and courtesies in many ways. Some
examples of these include: saluting higher ranking cadets and also the cadre members, reporting in
while going to a meeting with cadre members, and calling POC, cadre, and others that work in the
detachment sir or ma am. Although we do preform some customs and courtesies in the wing overall I
believe they still need improvement. There are many things we don t do around the detachment such
as saluting the American flag as we walk by and casing the flags

Cliches Overdone Research Paper
CLICHé
Clichés are sometimes overdone. They are phrases that had an important meaning at one time. They
generally are not effective and should be avoided. Example of clichés would be The grass is always
greener on the other side. (thoughtcatalog.com) This can be a barrier when it underserves the
importance of a message being conveyed.
JARGON
Jargon is generally found in a work atmosphere. It can ruin the message to the receiver, if the receiver
is not familiar with the speaker s work practice. An example of this would be police officers and fire
fighters who use 10 Codes. The ten codes do not match between police and fire. 10 8 means In

Euphemisms are created to avoid sexist and racist language or to soften an expression. When applied
in the form of avoiding sexism and racism, It can still be demeaning and should be avoided. It has no

DOUBLESPEAK
Doublespeak is commonly found in politicians and attorneys. It is an attempt to mislead the receiver

This is generally seen as hiding or misconstruing the facts of what is really happening. An example of
this would be when a politician says that they will not support and new tax increases and then raise

The Abolition Of Stigma Of A Young Age
The Abolishment of Stigma Living a life that is filling with criticism and stigmatization from both an
internal and external force is not a life any person should have to life, but it is unquestionably not the
life for a young adolescent. Teenagers living with depression face daily obstacles with social
interactions, and the interactions in their minds. The stigma placed on mental illness has made it
nearly impossible for teens fighting depression to feel comfortable with themselves, and more
importantly that the teenagers belong. When facing depression, a teen will most likely feel alienated
from those around themselves. The struggle of the deep sense of loneliness felt by depressed teens is
unbearable to most, which is why many choose to take their own life. I know these feelings all too
well, because I have been battling depression for three years. I know that true horrors that come with
having depression at a young age, and what it is like living in a world that does not look kindly on

November 20, 2017
It all began in 2013. It was a completely normal day. I woke up and followed my daily routine: brush
my teeth, put on my clothes, and went to school. Little did I know, that would be the day that changed
everything. I found out that my uncle Danny had been diagnosed with lung cancer. The chemo
originally worked and he went into remission. After a few months of remission, the doctors said he
would have a few months to live. After he passed away, I couldn t talk to him. I couldn t see him
anymore. He was just gone. Cancer ended the life of someone very precious to me and his death
sparked the beginning of my desire to battle this disease.
When making a list of what I already knew about oncology, I found that there was very little I knew
about this topic. I knew that there were three main types of oncologists: medical, surgical, and
radiation. Those different types of oncologists treat cancer patients by using chemotherapy, biopsies,
and radiation therapy. In addition to his information, I knew that oncology was among the top ten most

INTUITION
Abstract
Intuition has rarely been given the credit it deserves, even when numerous experiments over the past
decades has shown it to be a complex and detailed subconscious process, rather than the pseudo
science many still believe it to be. Despite the success of intuition as a decision maker, the ideology
that we should trust logic first and hunches second often wins out. While intuition has been known to
lead to mistakes, known as Warren Harding Errors, it s often more reliable than logical, thought out
problem solving. Ignorance as to the true nature of intuition has led to a societal ideology that values
the conscious over the subconscious, and regards intuition as a lesser emotion that isn t to be trusted.
However, there is, in fact, science to support the reliability of intuition. Gut feelings are a result of the
ventromedial prefrontal cortex, located directly behind the nose, which sorts and prioritizes
information, and runs all relevant information through the subconscious, which uses an analyzation of
past events and calculates the best course of action. This process manifests as intuition.

The Importance Of Ideas In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920 s, explores the significance of ideals and
how working to achieve them can structure one s life. The Novel centers around an egocentric, rich
and materialistic group of characters who all share a common value of wealth. However, the character
Jay Gatsby, values love more than he values money. Gatsby believes that being with the women he
loves, Daisy, the wife of the wealthy Tom Buchanan will make him feel as though he has fulfilled his
life. Gatsby s childhood and past have allowed him to realize what he wants most in life, and how he
is willing to go to extreme measures to achieve his goals. He dedicates his life to renewing his love
with Daisy. The immense effort that he puts into achieving his ideal doesn t allow him to see some of
the lousy qualities that daisy possesses. Fitzgerald uses Jay Gatsby to demonstrate how personal
experiences can create an ideal, and how pursuing that ideal can shape one s character and structure an
individual s life.
Gatsby s childhood experiences have taught him how important it is to achieve his goals. His
experiences created a hard working, work ethic and made him realize that he s willing to sacrifice
almost anything when pursuing his ideals. Jimmy Gatz, Jay Gatsby s original name symbolizes his
past. Essentially, Jimmy Gatz is poor, and Jay Gatsby is wealthy. As Nick tells us, He had changed [his

Analysis Of For Whom The Bell Toll By John Donne
The introduction to For Whom The Bell Tolls is a poem by John Donne, of which the last line says
any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to
know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee (Hemingway 3). This line encapsulates the theme of the
novel and defines the novel s meaning. Robert Jordan the main character of the novel arrives in Spain
as a volunteer, ready to fight and give his life for other people s freedom and right to self
determination. One of the reasons why this novel was so enjoyable was its focus on the individual and
intense discussions about life and death and morality of killing for and idea. However, the reader can
not help identifying with Jordan, as he plans his own future despite subconsciously understanding his
fate.
For Whom The Bell Tolls takes place during the Spanish Civil War, during a time period when
political divisions, between the right and Nd left were at all time highs around the world. The novel
discusses an execution of the fascists in one of the main character, Pillar s, town, and she describes
how political beliefs became enough to kill someone for. Don Guillermo was a fascist but otherwise
there was nothing against him... He had a rude way of speaking and he was undoubtedly a fascist and
a member of their club and he sat at noon and at evening in the cane chairs of their club to read El

Relief Of All Of The Special Needs
Need for the Study
If this research is never conducted, ensuring the evacuation of all of the special needs individuals who
need assistance will turn out to be a disaster in itself. If there is not a proper location for these
individuals to go to, this will lead to loss of life or hospitalization for some, and mass chaos for others.
There is a possibility that there are more people with special needs than available space or
transportation. There is also a possibility that even if there is available space or transportation, that
those with medical needs may not be able to be cared for in the facility provided. In order to find out if
this is the case in Santa Rosa County, the Emergency Management Department needs to find out how
many people need assistance.
In order to complete this research, Santa Rosa County Emergency Department needs to provide a way
to communicate with the special needs populace. To start off with, the method chosen will be a
questionnaire. This will consist of face to face interaction with the parents/caretakers of the special
needs individuals that are chosen by a non probability sample. According to van Thiel, a sample is a
selection from the total population of possible units of study (van Thiel, pg. 46). Within the non
probability sample, a purposeful approach will be utilized. Doing so, the people chose will only be
from the special needs populace.

Thiosulphate Of Acetic Acid H2so4 And Standardizing Naoh...
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of acetic acid H2SO4 and standardizing
NaOH using titration technique.
The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was standardized as it is hygroscopic due to a characteristic of sodium
hydroxide that readily absorbing moisture from the air, the NaOH consider a secondary standard
which is a solution whose concentration can only be determined by comparing it to the concentration
of the primary standard. The primary standard mass has to be known for the exact moles that are
needed for reaction with the base.
Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHC8H4O4) is the acid used for this trial to react to the standardized
base NaOH. Also known as potassium acid phthalate, potassium biphthalate, and KHP creates the

solution, with a solution of known concentration (the titrant) and added the solution of unknown
concentration (the analyte) until it react completely. This is the equivalent point which the number of
moles, stoichiometrically based on the molar ratio, of both reagents (titrant and analyte) are the same
and they react leaving no excess reagent. This is considered the theoretical end of the titration, but the

Rejuvenate Your Lawn Research Paper
Rejuvenate Your Lawn
Grass makes up the largest portion of most home landscapes. Keeping a lawn in great condition can be
difficult and most homeowners will find their turfgrass in decline at some point. Inconsistent weather,
improper mowing, poor fertility and simple neglect can all be contributors to a declining lawn.
Regardless of the reason, when weeds encroach, the grass thins or brown patches appear, it is time to
take action and rejuvenate your lawn.
Soil Test
To bring grass back to its former glory, the first step is a soil test. Ensuring the proper pH and fertility
levels for growing grass is perhaps the greatest step toward creating lush, healthy lawn that will
naturally resist insect and disease infestation while out competing weeds. You can either ... Show more

its effectiveness is to apply it dry, then water it in (or let a nice gentle rain water it in). It kills the bugs

You can do a quick experiment to ensure that your soil has sufficiently open structure, or aeration.
Take a six inch screwdriver and push it into the soil in several different locations throughout the lawn.
If you can push it into the soil by hand, all the way to its full depth, the soil aeration is sufficient to
allow root growth and water penetration. If it is difficult or impossible to insert the screwdriver, you
should have your lawn core aerated. Doing it yourself is also an option. Most tool rental companies

The And Progression Of Schizophrenia
Two Hit Model of Schizophrenia, Discussion, Criticism, and Application to The Onset and
Progression of Schizophrenia
LA14495
University of Maryland Baltimore County
December 2016
Abstract
The purpose of this paper will be to discuss the two hit model of schizophrenia, including what it is,
how it may inform treatment and prevention of schizophrenia, how it applies to schizophrenia for the
duration of onset and progression, and how various primary sources support or challenge the model.
We are finding that despite some inconsistencies between numerous findings and the model, the model
serves as a suitable general explanation of schizophrenia onset and progression.
The two hit model of schizophrenia proposes that disturbances to central nervous system
development, leaves a person exposed to the onset of schizophrenia symptoms caused by various gene
environmental interactions. The disturbances to central nervous system development are the first hit in
the two hit model, and the gene environmental interactions that are able to cause the onset of
schizophrenia in conjunction with the disturbances to central nervous system development are the
second hit in the two hit model.
Schizophrenia is usually grouped into three phases, the prodromal, active, and residual phases.
Usually the prodromal phase occurs during the teen years or early twenties, and most of the time it
occurs before the active phase. There is on occasion, mention of a fourth phase called

Change In The Chrysalids
The views of change in Waknuk and Zealand are conflicting. While one embraces change and thinks

Pope John Paul II broke with tradition and a 2000 year old doctrine when he prayed with pagans,
heretics, and other religions around the world. Pope John Paul II inspired a day for spirituality,
specifically the day of prayer the pope convened in 1987 with religious leaders from around the world.
With not only a lecture on the interreligious experience of the Assisi Day of Prayer, the pope stated,
There are undeniably differences [in religions] that reflect the genius and spiritual riches that God has
given to the peoples (John Paul II, The Meaning of the Assisi Day, 562). His statement is
extraordinary in that the pope is not only affirming that other religions have the presence of God, but
also that some religious differences could be due to other religions having spiritual riches given by
God that are unique to them. (Feldmeier, 18) This showed the Catholic church and religious around
the world that church acknowledges other religious, that we all have spirituality in our different

Racial Tension And Civil Unrest
As diverse as the city of Los Angeles is, it has a history of racial tension and civil unrest. From 1910,
the start of the Mexican Revolution and World War I when President Theodore Roosevelt instituted
the brown scare (Coerver, 2001), to 1913, when the California Alien Land Act prohibited Japanese
immigrants and citizens of Japanese descent from owning land in California, to 1934, when 3000
Chinese immigrants were displaced to make way for Union Station, to 1942, when 110,000 Japanese
Americans were forced into internment camps, Los Angeles has historically been the center of racial
controversy and tension ( Year by Year, 1999). In 1943, Los Angeles was also full of young African
Americans and Mexican Americans trying to protest the racism in the American culture by expressing
themselves with their own music, clothing, culture, and style (Cosgrove, 1985). By the time of the
Sleepy Lagoon murder in 1942, the stage had been set for the Zoot Suit Riots that occurred in June
1943. Although the riots only lasted ten days, the ramifications ranged from cultural repression on the
part of many Mexican American families, to political activism on the part of others, and the beginning
of reform within the Los Angeles Police Department.
In 1910, Mexico entered into a revolution; shortly thereafter the United States entered World War I.
About this time President Theodore Roosevelt started talking about a brown scare ; profiling Mexican
Americans as possible trouble makers

Descriptive Essay On Beauty
I had to decorate my head with flowers and was looking exquisite. My father had prohibited me from
using scented perfumes. I also did not have slightest of interest in that. I have been brought up in
nature. Where does beauty live? Is it in jewelry or clothes, in the body, in soul or in the eye of the
beholder? I was wondering.
Four chariots named Rug, Yarju, Sam and Atharva were constructed. The great father Brahma sat on
Rug. Twayi and Anwikshika were sitting in Yarju. Varta and Niti were in Atharva. Yarju was decorated
with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva
was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers.
I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a
garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole
body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance.
No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not
know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity,
but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka.
Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My
playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could
never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After
attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so
much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the
Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be?
After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could
see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me.
I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was
in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I
got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry.
Indradeva was already there. Before he

2. Appalachian Coal Mining believes that it can increase labor productivity and, therefore, net revenue
by reducing air pollution in it mines. It estimates that the marginal cost function for reducing pollution
by installing additional capital equipment is
MC = 40P
Where P represents a reduction of one unit of pollution in the mines. It also feels that for every unit of
pollution reduction the marginal increase in revenue (MR) is
MR = 1,000 10P
How much pollution reduction should Appalachian Coal Mining undertake?
If Appalachian Coal Mining decided to install additional capital equipment, they would decrease the
amount of pollution that their company produces. This installation of additional capital ... Show more

a. If each security guard is paid $200 a week and the cost of a stolen radio is $25, how many security
guards should the firm hire?
In order to determine how many security guards Twentyfirst Century Electronics should hire, one
must find the number of security guards in which the marginal benefit of having the security guards is
greater than the marginal cost of the security guards. According to our text, when a decision maker
faces an unconstrained maximization problem and must choose among discrete levels of an activity,
the activity should be increased if MB MC and decreased if MB b= c= 0 means that the advertising
has a positive effect on their sales. c = 0.284. This is the slope parameter or Vanguard s rivals

Observation Of A Piglet
On September 10th 2017 Mr. Striker placed out 10 dead baby piglets in the body farm at Wabash
Heartland Career Center. The piglets all had different factors and the piglets where all still born.
Before the body farm even started we wrote theories on questions that we were given and what we
would think would happen to each piglet in different factors. We started observing these piglets on
September 11th 2017. We observed these piglets for three weeks until mostly all of the piglets where
decomposed all the way to bones. The piglet that was burned (piglet 2) was the one to decompose the
fastest out of the natural state piglet in the grass (piglet 1) and a buried piglet (piglet 10). My initial
thought was correct that piglet 2 would decompose fastest due to less skin for the bugs to get through
the skin and get inside of the piglet. Piglet 2 decomposed on day 9 it was completely bones with no
skin or flesh left on the bones due to maggots and other insects. Piglet 1 still had maggots on its legs
on day 9 and was decomposed on day 11 with only bones left. The piglet 10 still has not been
completely decomposed on day 15. The speed of decomposition is different when the piglet is naked
on the black top (piglet6) or a clothed piglet on black top (piglet 7). My initial thought was that piglet
6 would decompose faster because there would be one less layer to get through than on piglet 7. I was
correct that the piglet 6 did decompose faster than piglet 7. However the clothes

Essay about Globalization and SC Johnson
Globalization is the shift toward a more integrated and interdependent world economy (Hill, 2005).
Globalization has several different areas including the globalization of markets and of production. The
Globalization of markets is the blending of different markets from different nations into one large
global marketplace. Cross border trading has made it easier to sell internationally. Companies can sell
standardized products efficiently and effectively all over the world thus helping to build a global
marketplace. The globalization of production refers to the sourcing of goods and services from
locations around the globe to take advantage of national differences in the cost and quality of factors
of production (such as labor, energy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many major drivers for globalization. There are two factors that seem to drive the trend
toward greater globalization. The first factor is the decline in international trade barriers that has
occurred since the end of World War II. Once the barriers were removed then international trade had a
chance to grow and change the economy to a more global one. Tariffs were fees charged on top off the
cost of imported goods. The hope was to deter people from choosing the imports, instead choosing the
domestic goods. Once the tariffs were stopped, many more people were able to buy and sell imported
goods.
The second factor is the numerous technological advancements in recent years pertaining to
communication, information processing, and transportation technologies.
The development of the microprocessor was a huge step forward in computing technology. The
microprocessor allowed growth of high powered, low cost computers that could handle much more
information than ever before. This enabled countries to grow their education and manufacturing
capabilities greatly in order to compete in a global market place.
Lastly, containerization has forever changed the transportation business by lowering the costs of
shipping goods over long distances. Before containerization, it cost time, money, and labor when
shipping items over many miles. In the 1970s and 1980s, once containerization took charge, then

How To Write A Clinical Reflection Paper
Last Monday, Feb. 27, I helped Katie Jetter with her medical history, periodontal assessment, and x
rays procedures. From viewing Katie s performance, I could see myself a year ago. I can t believe I
have gone this far in the learning process. Katie resembled me a year back with little knowledge of the
patient s treatment process. I evaluated Katie s medical history procedure and her radiograph
technique. Her weakness was the treatment process and time management. For the treatment process,
she did not know that after going over medical history with her new patient, she also needed to
complete vital sign before signing for check. I showed her where to record patient s vital signs and
helped her to key in the numbers in the Dentrix Note Page. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

All instructors should have the same standard for grading assignments. Especially when there are
many instructors who have different criteria on what they are looking for, it is hard for the students to
follow and do what is called the right things . For example, human need and self assessment are
graded differently among our instructors. To one instructor, the work was perfect. The students receive
a grade of 97%. The students followed the same pattern and rubric. They turned it in to another
instructor, but they only receive 75%, some even did not pass. That is a hug grade gap for the same
work done. This will massively confuse students. They won t be able to learn the right things because
the instructors don t have the same grading consistency. Students were confused when they fixed their
mistakes which thought to be correct. However, it was found to be wrong by another

  • 2. Peace Tree Research Paper Spilling down a slope overlooking Jerusalem, the Peace Forest symbolizes the unity of Jerusalem after the Six Day War, harmony between Arab and Jewish people and the hope for peace in a land birthed and raised in turmoil. Here, the city plants a tree for EVERY child born in Jerusalem. According to Moshe Rivlin, who served as chairman of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) until his death in 2004, In most countries people are born to forests, and forests are given to them by nature. But here in this country, if you see a tree, it was planted by somebody. Every nation grooms its forests, planting replacement trees, keeping forests in place for environmental and aesthetic reasons, but Israel HAD to plant trees. We know there were trees in Biblical Israel...When the Queen of Sheba knocked on Solomon s palace door...ostensibly to observe his wisdom...1st Kings 10:27 notes that silver was as plentiful as ... This dedication to reforesting the Holy Land, even as many predicted failure, has changed the landscape of the country, rolling back the desert in several areas and significantly affecting the quality of the environment. The Peace Forest project began at the end of the Six Day War in 1967 and unknown to those who embarked on the task, a marvelous archaeological discovery waited underneath newly planted trees. Many archaeological discoveries in Israel come from pure chance, someone starts to build a house, someone plows a field, somebody decides to remodel or workers begin to widen a road....in a forest! • 3. Ethnographic Reflection Raybeck describes several adventures and misadventures involving field research in his account of the year and a half he spent in Kelantan. He also discusses the understanding, humility and scars that these experiences may leave behind. Raybeck provides in depth descriptions of Kelantanese society and culture. He addresses topics such as political structures, the status of women, kinship, linguistics, and economics. Additionally, he demonstrates for us how challenging yet rewarding anthropological fieldwork can be, and we see how he builds rapport in a research setting in order to ensure that the information he acquires is reliable. Two of the main techniques used by Raybeck were learning the language, and interviewing key informants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, this extra effort to blend in with and accept the Kelantanese way of life is what perhaps prevented Raybeck s presence from having an impact on the culture he was studying. There are many instances throughout the ethnography when the writer appears to be going through culture shock, and the impact of the culture he is studying on him becomes evident. For instance, thed Kelantanese disregard and even contempt of the concept of privacy is something that takes him and his wife some getting used to. Similarly, the ethnographer is confused when their dressing in traditional garb is interpreted as him and his wife s willingness to convert to Islam. There are other times through his stay when he is expected to take a stand on political and ethical matters, and he finds himself struggling to maintain neutrality yet not earn the contempt of the villagers. Raybeck encountered numerous ethical issues, including but not limited to prostitution, murder, and smuggling. As before, the writer tried his very best to adopt a neutral stand, and participate only minimally and if asked to by the parties involved. Raybeck quickly learns that one s actions in such matters are what are used to gage one s loyalty to a specific group or individual within the community. Aware of this impact, he tries to stay as ... Interracial Marriage is one of the less cared about marriages. Most people do not approve of any type of interracial marriage or mixed race children in a family of another race. People were not born to hate, they were raised to be that way. Every individual has a right to be there own person, but don t have enough respect not to show it around people who may disapprove in it anyway. Not everybody can help who they fall in love with. Whether it is a younger or older person. A Mexican or an African American. Many laws and preferences have changed since 1619, which was also the year that the first interracial marriage happened. Some people who were raised in racism may think different about interracial marriage or as many may say it is a sin. Nobody goes throughout a whole entire day without committing a sin because nobody is perfect. Maybe there is a reason a white woman prefers African American males or a Mexican woman prefers a white male, maybe something happened in their lives with their own race that made them change their course in thought. Many older people do not approve the interracial marriage or relationship because they had to live through slavery, wars, and all the trauma of the loss of a loved one due to the other race. This generation may not understand how they feel because they did not have to go through it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why Design Can Not Remain Exclusive The Writers Since the NSFNet was decommissioned in the early 1990 s and restrictions on commercial traffic was removed, (Costello,2016) we have seen the individual empowered to a point where they can compete with the tradition, media, retail and content outlets.(Abel, 2011) Right now, with social networks and other tools on the Internet, all of these 500 million people have a way to say what they re thinking and have their voice be heard. (Heussner, 2016) With this technological advancement, the individual has been emancipated from total reliance on the publishers, record labels and retailers. In the book Open Design Now: Why Design Cannot Remain Exclusive, Open design is defined as, distributed manufacturing processes that emphasise the use related capabilities of openness . (Van Abel, Evers, and Klaassen, 2014) Through information technology, digital manufacturing uses a network of collaborative facilities that enable manufacturing to be sourced locally. We no longer have to be restricted to using a single factory or distributor (Liu, Wang, and Wei, 2009). This method compared to traditional low cost labour options, is more economically sound. In an Article, The Rise of Distributed Manufacturing and 7 advantages over Traditional Manufacturing (Robinson,2014), writer Adam Robinson gives two examples of an imaginary company that goes through the traditional means of manufacturing and distributed manufacturing. In the traditional example a company must source cheap labourers for the production of their product. when the product is made they are sent via shipping containers, emitting fuels and taking additional time from the transportation process. If the product were to undergo a distributed manufacturing process then the company would locally source experts, there would be a higher labour cost for the design process but the additional costs would be proportionate to the time and expense saved in the transport costs involved in the Traditional method. • 9. Scourging Of The Four Martyrs Summary Niccolo di Pietro Gerini s Scourging of the Four Crowned Martyrs (1385 90) depicts a scene in which four martyrs are pursued by a group of men with some scourging tool (which resembles a modern day rake). A late Gothic painting in which Gerini depicts a Catholic story of the Four Crowned Martyrs, the Scourging incorporates much of the static, stiff forms which are characteristic of the period s prevailing style. In the painting, one can notice clear divisions of space, distinct separations of forms within that space, and emphases on the men doing the scourging within that space as a function of where the light is directed in the painting. An analysis of these three key elements of the painting suggests a cohesive assertion about the way the painting s subjects are depicted within the image. Initially it seems apparent that the four martyrs are depicted in a negative manner with the scourging men taking precedence. However, an analysis beyond the obvious elements particularly the figure suspended in the air and the devilish figures attacking the scourging men suggest that the four martyrs are actually being depicted in a more positive light. A brief discussion of the subject matter of the painting serves as an important starting point. The most obvious subjects, as suggested by the title of the piece, are the four crowned martyrs. Located on the far right side of the painting to the viewer are the four crowned martyrs being pursued by the men in front of them (to our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Physiological And Pathological Systems Within The... Redox signalling is an electron transfer process that is crucial in biological systems. Redox signalling is found in many physiological and pathological systems within the circulatory system. Redox signalling is usually induced by an overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can alter the functions of cell processes. Harris,(2012). ROS are radicals that contain one or more unpaired electrons and can be the oxygen radical superoxide or the non radical hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). ROS can also contribute to vascular modelling by phenotype modification of the smooth muscle cells, growth and even the death of cells. This shows the need for redox signalling and it has many roles within the body. Harris. (2012). Redox signalling is important as exposure to oxidative stress can cause imbalances that can contribute to infections and toxins. Thiol based redox couples can form independent signals that can regulate any imbalances and are linked to any changes that occur in redox potentials. Harris. (2012). Cysteine is an amino acid and it can undergo oxidative modifications to perform different functions. Cysteine can form cross links to stabilise proteins and it functions as a reversible on/off switch in redox signalling. Paget,(2003). Cysteine is a nucleophile that can react under different conditions, due to the thiol functional group. Conte,et al. (2000). The main focus of this essay will be looking two main concepts which are newsworthiness and the dark figure of crime, relating 5 news articles that are centred around child abuse that have featured in the New Zealand Herald and stuff.co.nz. The media plays an important role in society by creating and shaping society s attitudes about most current issues including child abuse. In New Zealand, as well as in the international media, the physical abuse of a child regularly features in the newspapers, magazines, radio and television (Merchant, 2010). When it comes to the public understanding of child abuse, this is influenced by the knowledge that they gain through reading newspapers or mass media like the television or radio. Kitzinger (2004) states that our individual view and sense of the world are a social construct and the media are an important resource to help us construct that world view. The way that child abuse is reported in the media has become what you would call entertainment where there seems to be an incline towards dramatising child abuse in a ... • 21. Hamlet And Family Dysfunctional In William Shakespeare s... Hamlet..? We all know, and have heard of the great play, and book of the famous tragedy that was made by Shakespeare. Some debate to see the story as a good piece of art to something that teaches and also reveals some traits that people have. When we all think of hamlet I believe we think of a crazy time were a king was killed for a throne, and it just so happens to be the death of a king who had an insane family, but there is so much more to it then that. Hamlet is a bunch of things when I look at it. What I see is a time and place were the actions of people were expressed in a way that the world is not perfect. We see this royal family with deep family disfunction, distrust and mistrust within each other, and just straight up corruption. People need to understand that this play holds deadly truths and lies, but also a handful of passion, sadness, and the need of love. But sometimes love can come with piece. A powerful word to describe the Hamlet family is very dysfunctional. Family dysfunction rules out there hope of trusting one another and depending on the family to even be a family. In the book Hamlet as you read through the pages, you will begin to see that. The whole family will rarely sit with each other and just enjoy the presence of their company without being suspicious of some accusation that just happens to be brought up, it s as if to call it a big family dysfunction. The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Running Head: INTUITION Intuition: The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Shannon Moran Bridges High School INTUITION Abstract Intuition has rarely been given the credit it deserves, even when numerous experiments over the past decades has shown it to be a complex and detailed subconscious process, rather than the pseudo science many still believe it to be. Despite the success of intuition as a decision maker, the ideology that we should trust logic first and hunches second often wins out. While intuition has been known to lead to mistakes, known as Warren Harding Errors, it s often more reliable than logical, thought out problem solving. Ignorance as to the true nature of intuition has led to a societal ideology that values the conscious over the subconscious, and regards intuition as a lesser emotion that isn t to be trusted. However, there is, in fact, science to support the reliability of intuition. Gut feelings are a result of the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, located directly behind the nose, which sorts and prioritizes information, and runs all relevant information through the subconscious, which uses an analyzation of past events and calculates the best course of action. • 30. The Importance Of Ideas In The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920 s, explores the significance of ideals and how working to achieve them can structure one s life. The Novel centers around an egocentric, rich and materialistic group of characters who all share a common value of wealth. However, the character Jay Gatsby, values love more than he values money. Gatsby believes that being with the women he loves, Daisy, the wife of the wealthy Tom Buchanan will make him feel as though he has fulfilled his life. Gatsby s childhood and past have allowed him to realize what he wants most in life, and how he is willing to go to extreme measures to achieve his goals. He dedicates his life to renewing his love with Daisy. The immense effort that he puts into achieving his ideal doesn t allow him to see some of the lousy qualities that daisy possesses. Fitzgerald uses Jay Gatsby to demonstrate how personal experiences can create an ideal, and how pursuing that ideal can shape one s character and structure an individual s life. Gatsby s childhood experiences have taught him how important it is to achieve his goals. His experiences created a hard working, work ethic and made him realize that he s willing to sacrifice almost anything when pursuing his ideals. Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of acetic acid H2SO4 and standardizing NaOH using titration technique. The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was standardized as it is hygroscopic due to a characteristic of sodium hydroxide that readily absorbing moisture from the air, the NaOH consider a secondary standard which is a solution whose concentration can only be determined by comparing it to the concentration of the primary standard. The primary standard mass has to be known for the exact moles that are needed for reaction with the base. Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHC8H4O4) is the acid used for this trial to react to the standardized base NaOH. Also known as potassium acid phthalate, potassium biphthalate, and KHP creates the chemical reaction with NaOH 〖KHC_8 H_4 O_4〗_((s))+〖NaOH〗_((aq)) □(→) 〖KNaC_8 H_4 O_4〗_((aq))+〖H_2 O〗 _((l)) The titration was performed by filling the buret which adds a measured volume of a chemical solution, with a solution of known concentration (the titrant) and added the solution of unknown concentration (the analyte) until it react completely. This is the equivalent point which the number of moles, stoichiometrically based on the molar ratio, of both reagents (titrant and analyte) are the same and they react leaving no excess reagent. The And Progression Of Schizophrenia Two Hit Model of Schizophrenia, Discussion, Criticism, and Application to The Onset and Progression of Schizophrenia LA14495 University of Maryland Baltimore County December 2016 Abstract The purpose of this paper will be to discuss the two hit model of schizophrenia, including what it is, how it may inform treatment and prevention of schizophrenia, how it applies to schizophrenia for the duration of onset and progression, and how various primary sources support or challenge the model. We are finding that despite some inconsistencies between numerous findings and the model, the model serves as a suitable general explanation of schizophrenia onset and progression. The two hit model of schizophrenia proposes that disturbances to central nervous system development, leaves a person exposed to the onset of schizophrenia symptoms caused by various gene environmental interactions. The disturbances to central nervous system development are the first hit in the two hit model, and the gene environmental interactions that are able to cause the onset of schizophrenia in conjunction with the disturbances to central nervous system development are the second hit in the two hit model. Schizophrenia is usually grouped into three phases, the prodromal, active, and residual phases. From 1910, the start of the Mexican Revolution and World War I when President Theodore Roosevelt instituted the brown scare (Coerver, 2001), to 1913, when the California Alien Land Act prohibited Japanese immigrants and citizens of Japanese descent from owning land in California, to 1934, when 3000 Chinese immigrants were displaced to make way for Union Station, to 1942, when 110,000 Japanese Americans were forced into internment camps, Los Angeles has historically been the center of racial controversy and tension ( Year by Year, 1999). In 1943, Los Angeles was also full of young African Americans and Mexican Americans trying to protest the racism in the American culture by expressing themselves with their own music, clothing, culture, and style (Cosgrove, 1985). By the time of the Sleepy Lagoon murder in 1942, the stage had been set for the Zoot Suit Riots that occurred in June 1943. Although the riots only lasted ten days, the ramifications ranged from cultural repression on the part of many Mexican American families, to political activism on the part of others, and the beginning of reform within the Los Angeles Police Department. In 1910, Mexico entered into a revolution; shortly thereafter the United States entered World War I. About this time President Theodore Roosevelt started talking about a brown scare ; profiling Mexican Americans as possible trouble makers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Descriptive Essay On Beauty I had to decorate my head with flowers and was looking exquisite. My father had prohibited me from using scented perfumes. I also did not have slightest of interest in that. I have been brought up in nature. Where does beauty live? Is it in jewelry or clothes, in the body, in soul or in the eye of the beholder? I was wondering. Four chariots named Rug, Yarju, Sam and Atharva were constructed. The great father Brahma sat on Rug. Twayi and Anwikshika were sitting in Yarju. Varta and Niti were in Atharva. Yarju was decorated with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers. I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance. No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity, but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka. Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be? After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me. I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry. Indradeva was already there. Before he ... Appalachian Coal Mining believes that it can increase labor productivity and, therefore, net revenue by reducing air pollution in it mines. It estimates that the marginal cost function for reducing pollution by installing additional capital equipment is MC = 40P Where P represents a reduction of one unit of pollution in the mines. It also feels that for every unit of pollution reduction the marginal increase in revenue (MR) is MR = 1,000 10P How much pollution reduction should Appalachian Coal Mining undertake? If Appalachian Coal Mining decided to install additional capital equipment, they would decrease the amount of pollution that their company produces. This installation of additional capital ... The firm wants to hire the optimal number or security guards. The following table shows how the number of security guards affects the number of radios stolen per week. Number of security guards Number of radios stolen per week 0 50 1 30 2 20 3 14 4 8 5 6 a. If each security guard is paid $200 a week and the cost of a stolen radio is $25, how many security guards should the firm hire? In order to determine how many security guards Twentyfirst Century Electronics should hire, one must find the number of security guards in which the marginal benefit of having the security guards is greater than the marginal cost of the security guards. According to our text, when a decision maker faces an unconstrained maximization problem and must choose among discrete levels of an activity, the activity should be increased if MB MC and decreased if MB b= c= 0 means that the advertising has a positive effect on their sales. c = 0.284. • 45. Observation Of A Piglet On September 10th 2017 Mr. Striker placed out 10 dead baby piglets in the body farm at Wabash Heartland Career Center. The piglets all had different factors and the piglets where all still born. Before the body farm even started we wrote theories on questions that we were given and what we would think would happen to each piglet in different factors. We started observing these piglets on September 11th 2017. We observed these piglets for three weeks until mostly all of the piglets where decomposed all the way to bones. The piglet that was burned (piglet 2) was the one to decompose the fastest out of the natural state piglet in the grass (piglet 1) and a buried piglet (piglet 10). My initial thought was correct that piglet 2 would decompose fastest due to less skin for the bugs to get through the skin and get inside of the piglet. Piglet 2 decomposed on day 9 it was completely bones with no skin or flesh left on the bones due to maggots and other insects. Piglet 1 still had maggots on its legs on day 9 and was decomposed on day 11 with only bones left. The piglet 10 still has not been completely decomposed on day 15. The speed of decomposition is different when the piglet is naked on the black top (piglet6) or a clothed piglet on black top (piglet 7). My initial thought was that piglet 6 would decompose faster because there would be one less layer to get through than on piglet 7. I was correct that the piglet 6 did decompose faster than piglet 7. However the clothes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Essay about Globalization and SC Johnson Globalization is the shift toward a more integrated and interdependent world economy (Hill, 2005). Globalization has several different areas including the globalization of markets and of production. The Globalization of markets is the blending of different markets from different nations into one large global marketplace. Cross border trading has made it easier to sell internationally. Companies can sell standardized products efficiently and effectively all over the world thus helping to build a global marketplace. The globalization of production refers to the sourcing of goods and services from locations around the globe to take advantage of national differences in the cost and quality of factors of production (such as labor, energy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many major drivers for globalization. There are two factors that seem to drive the trend toward greater globalization. The first factor is the decline in international trade barriers that has occurred since the end of World War II. Once the barriers were removed then international trade had a chance to grow and change the economy to a more global one. Tariffs were fees charged on top off the cost of imported goods. The hope was to deter people from choosing the imports, instead choosing the domestic goods. Once the tariffs were stopped, many more people were able to buy and sell imported goods. The second factor is the numerous technological advancements in recent years pertaining to communication, information processing, and transportation technologies. The development of the microprocessor was a huge step forward in computing technology. The microprocessor allowed growth of high powered, low cost computers that could handle much more information than ever before. This enabled countries to grow their education and manufacturing capabilities greatly in order to compete in a global market place. Lastly, containerization has forever changed the transportation business by lowering the costs of shipping goods over long distances. Before containerization, it cost time, money, and labor when shipping items over many miles. In the 1970s and 1980s, once containerization took charge, then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From viewing Katie s performance, I could see myself a year ago. I can t believe I have gone this far in the learning process. Katie resembled me a year back with little knowledge of the patient s treatment process. I evaluated Katie s medical history procedure and her radiograph technique. Her weakness was the treatment process and time management. For the treatment process, she did not know that after going over medical history with her new patient, she also needed to complete vital sign before signing for check. I showed her where to record patient s vital signs and helped her to key in the numbers in the Dentrix Note Page. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All instructors should have the same standard for grading assignments. Especially when there are many instructors who have different criteria on what they are looking for, it is hard for the students to follow and do what is called the right things . For example, human need and self assessment are graded differently among our instructors. To one instructor, the work was perfect. The students receive a grade of 97%. The students followed the same pattern and rubric. They turned it in to another instructor, but they only receive 75%, some even did not pass. That is a hug grade gap for the same work done. This will massively confuse students. They won t be able to learn the right things because the instructors don t have the same grading consistency.
