Concrete is described as the founding partner of modern society. A modern society demands schools, offices, recreational spaces, and transportation, which require large structures that are more feasible to construct using concrete rather than mud. Concrete is the most used construction material but cracks are inevitable; self-healing concrete is introduced as a viable method to autonomously heal cracks. Green concrete incorporates recycled waste materials and has environmental and cost benefits over conventional concrete. Statistics show concrete structures have lower emissions and energy usage than other materials like mud, and provide better seismic performance. Prefabricated concrete allows faster construction at larger scales.
