Spanking a Child and Child Abuse
Spanking a child is not against the law in most places. However, parents who use it in their homes
are being accused of child abuse. The Chicago Tribune published an article that urged readers to
report child abuse when they become aware of it. In the article Child abuse in plain View the
author describes spankingas a type of abuse that happens behind closed doors ( Child abuse in
plain View ). Like most critics of corporal punishment, the author is trying to link spanking to
abuse. The author`s concern about abuse is a valid one. Abuse should be reported immediately.
However, any attempt to define spanking as abuse is wrong. Spanking a child is not abuse. It is an
effective way of discipline that helps guide the child into becoming a... Show more content on

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that parents do not spank their
children at all. They think that time out and removal of privileges is better than corporal
punishment ( Child Abuse in Plain View ). The AAP should know that balance is the key when
it comes to discipline. Incorrectly using any form of discipline can have negative effects.
Placing a child in time out too much may cause the child to become withdrawn. Constantly
yelling at a child could cause a child to feel angry or depressed. Spanking a child for every
mishap could cause a child to be fearful of making a mistake. The bottom line is that every child is
different. What works for one child may not work for the other. Some children respond well to time
out. For some, a spanking may the best way to correct unwanted behavior. Parents should decide
what is best for the child, at that moment.
Parents should also decide whether the child s behavior is a direct challenge of authority, when
deciding which discipline method to use (Dobson 29). A child who decides to be an artist for
the day and draws on the wall is not being defiant. On the other hand, a child who continues to
draw on the wall after being warned not to, several times is being defiant. A child who does not
clean up his room should not be disciplined the same as a child who curses his parents. Corporal
punishment may be the best solution for deliberate disrespect. It will immediately cause a child to

The Masters Behind Teatro Olimpico Two men are responsible for the beautiful architecture that is
the Teatro Olimpico but neither of them worked on it at the same time. Both Andrea Palladio and
his successor Vincenzo Scamozzi contributed their own ideas to the theatre. It is fact that Palladio
had his hand in most of the design but it can be argued that the Teatro Olimpico would not be as it
is today without Scamozzi. Looking at the history before the Teatro Olimpico was built, it starts
with a group that was founded by Palladio himself, the Accademia Olimpica. The group was
founded in 1555 and focused on bringing classical theatre into the Renaissance. Palladio s

He was a lover of the Roman architecture and classical theatre. Palladio had illustrated Daniele
Barbaro s Italian translation of Vitruvius De architectura, which was a detailed work that explained
what theatre was like in the Roman Empire. It includes floorplans for Roman theatres and an
elevation for the scaenae frons of Vicenza s ruined Roman theatre, the Teatro Berga. The scaenae
frons is the elaborately decorated permanent architectural background of a Roman theatre stage.
Normally there are three entrances to the stage (Palmyra has five) including a grand central
entrance, known as the porta regia or royal door . The form may have been intended to resemble
the facades of imperial palaces.[1] The scaenae frons is often two and sometimes three stories in
height and was central to the theatre s visual impact for this was what was seen by a Roman
audience at all times. Tiers or balconies were supported by an exuberant display of columns,
normally in the Corinthian order, often originally including many statues in niches.[2] In smaller
theatres it could support a permanent roof, enclosing the whole theatre, and in larger ones awnings
over the whole or parts of the theatre, perhaps secured to masts rising above it, for which there is
some evidence.[3]As well, Palladio s papers include plans for the imagined reconstruction of the

The Red Badge Of Courage
The Red Badge of Courage is a war novel written to exemplify the experiences and emotions of a
young soldier in the American Civil War. The novel details the qualities of maturity and manhood in
a gripping tale of Private Henry Fleming of the Union Army. The author, Stephen Crane wishes to
relate the American public to the emotional and psychological challenges endured by countless men
in the Civil War. Born in 1871, Stephen Cranewas raised in a Methodist family. While training to
become a professional baseball player, he eventually chose to write as his career. Throughout most
of his life, Stephen stuck to his commitment that all his work should be backed by personal
experience on the subject matter. However, his most famous work, The Red Badge of Couragewas
completely based on his remarkable imagination. He had no war experience; however, his vivid
descriptions and details of war surprised critics with their incredible accuracy. Stephen s
approach at writing the novel was to emphasize the passion, confusion, and growth of the
soldiers, as most of the war tales at the time were merely factual. The Red Badge of Courage
presents war in a new light, one of emotional struggles and mental milestones. In the tense times
of today, it is easy to forget the maturity and courage of our nation s heroes. Many writers and
politicians portray war as a battle between good and evil, or as a fight for superiority. While this
may be true, it is necessary to remember the

What Does Death Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death
Jesus Ponce De Leon English 090A Mr.Howard October 30, 2015 The Masque Of The Red
Death Edgar Allen Poe s short story The Masque of the Red Death takes place in an unspecified
land at some time in the past when, from their great castles, Lords and Princes held dominion
over the common people. A plague had devastated the world and the only refuge there is, is in a
luxury castle with safety beyond the walls, and welded doors where nothing can come in and
nothing can go out. Prince Prospero is the host of this whole plan. Prince Prospero s plan is to
await the end of this whole plague. The plague is called the Red Death, this plague came with harsh
and gruesome symptoms, whipping almost all population infront of it. The harsh and gruesome
symptoms overcame victims with sharp pains, sudden dizziness, and hematidrosis. Poe uses

We might interpretit as window into Poe s dark and tortured soul as a man with psychological
and addiction issues. Beyond that, the story has a very well explained theme: that no one can
escape death and if you run away, it will come for you sooner or later. The guests thought that,
being in a refuge with nothing coming in or out, they would be safer; however, it turns out that
the Red Death came after them and hunted them down. The clock symbolizes time of their
death, as if the time for their death came closer each time. It seems like the higher social classes
always have a bigger chance of surviving because of the easy access to resources. However, the
higher class always seems to go down faster. The color of rooms also come in play to all this as
every color seems to give a certain mood, and very few dared to enter the seventh dark room as it
may represent death, and they were afraid of

Benefits Of Buying Money On Purchasing Stamps Essay
Everybody at one time or another has received bills in the mail, but writing a check out has
become the way of the past. There is rarely a reason to waste money on purchasing stamps
because it is rare to find the need to send out mail. In fact, members of United States Automobile
Association or USAA would never need to physically walk into a bank again. For members that
qualify, applying for a car, home or personal loanhas never been more easy. Even people that do
not consider themselves tech savvy can figure out how to use and become comfortable with using
USAA because of their userfriendly site. Navigating through the site and completing all banking
needs has changed how members bank. Banking has changed drastically due to computer based
information systems like the United States Automobile Association or USAA that allows their users
to do all their banking needs from the comfort of their own homes.
Characteristics of the Users of the System USAA is a user friendly information system that can
benefit any person that is in the military. Military members need to be able to take care of their
banking needs from anywhere in the world. It is not practical or sufficient for military members
to need to physically walk into a bank when they never know where they are going to be next. Not
just anyone can become a member of USAA, but individuals that are a member of any military
branch and their family members qualify for the services put forth from USAA.

Slave Codes In The Slave
Most slaves could not read or write, and they were not allowed to be taught how to read or write,
therefore they found ways to communicate with each other in different forms that their owners
would not be able to understand. Sometimes codes were created by whites who were helping the
slaves and the slaves who had already escaped. Some examples of communication, also known as
codes, are songs, quilts, dancing, and drums. Songs were used in everyday life by African slaves.
The slaves called these songs negro spirituals. People such as Harriet Tubmanand others used songs
as a means for communication amongst each other in their fight to gain freedom. Many slaves
knew the secret meanings of words from the negro spirituals, so they could be used to signal
many things. For example, Harriet Tubman used the song Wade in the Water to tell slaves who
were trying to escape to get off the trail and go into the water. This made sure that the dogs
slavecatchers couldn t sniff out their trail. Other slaves used songs as signals. For example, the
Virginia slave Nat Turner, who organized a revolt against slave owners, used the song Steal Away
as a signal to call people together to talk about their plans ( Joe Carter and the Legacy of African
American Spirituals. ) The Underground Railroadis a huge example of where slaves used codes to
communicate. They used codes like bundles of woods, drinking gourd, and load of potatoes,

Ebola Impact on Human Health amp; Hygiene Essay
Historically Ebola has had a serious impact on human health and hygiene and still does due to the
fact of no vaccine or treatment being discovered, but thanks to improvements in scientific and
medical knowledge the virus itself is now controllable.
Ebola is the virus Ebolavirus (EBOV), a viral genus, and the disease Ebola hemorrhagic fever
(EHF), a viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF). The virus is named after the Ebola River Valley in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire), which is near the site of the first recognized
outbreak in 1976 at a mission hospital run by Flemish nuns. It has remained largely obscure until
1989 when several widely publicized outbreaks occurred among ... Show more content on

Outbreaks of Ebola, with the exception of Reston Ebolavirus, have mainly been restricted to
Africa. * The Zaire virus, formerly named Zaire Ebolavirus, has the highest case fatality rate, up
to 90% in some epidemics, with an average case fatality rate of approximately 83% over 27
years. The first outbreak took place on 26 August 1976 in Yambuku. * The Sudan Ebolavirus
was the second species of Ebola emerging simultaneously with the Zaire virus. It was believed
to have originated amongst cotton factory workers in Nzara, Sudan. The most recent outbreak
occurred in May 2004 in Yambio County, Sudan. The average fatality rates for SEBOV were
54% in 1976, 68% in 1979, and 53% in 2000 and 2001. * The Reston Ebolavirus was discovered
during an outbreak of Simian hemorrhagic fever virus (SHFV) in crab eating macaques from
Hazleton Laboratories (now Covance) in 1989. Since the initial outbreak in Reston, Virginia, it
has emerged in Siena Italy, Texas, and among pigs in the Philippines. Despite its status as a Level

Wealth Gap Between Whites And Minorities Essay
Wealth Gap in America America has a lengthy history on how it became the powerful country it is
today, and although its history can be interrupted in many ways (depending who you ask) one
thing that is for certain is that wealth has yet to be distributed equally amongst minorities.
According to the article Income inequality matter; Extreme gap in wealth makes society unstable.
Philip Meyer claims that the wealth gap between whites and minorities has existed since Ronald
Reagans term of presidency (A9). Although Ronald Reagans term ended many years ago the
mistakes that caused this imbalance of wealth (and its aftermath) while he was in office remains
almost if not exactly the same as when the problem initially began (Meyer A9). The wealth gap
continues to target minorities and is affecting our communities at an alarming rate, however, many
attempts have been made to reduce its existence but the factors of income inequality,
unemployment rates and discrimination before and after our recent 2007 recession prevents our
country from eliminating such a toxic problem. The wealth gap is a problem that which the hard
working people of America know very little about. Using Ignorance towards this problem does not
cease its existence of it but rather contributes to growth because it s not being addressed. It s a
problem that seems to affect mainly the minorities of the U.S. population, such as Blacks and
Hispanics. However, not everyone is in the dark about this lingering ever

Disease Surveillance
Disease surveillance is important because infectious diseases are a threat to all persons, regardless
of gender, age, race, socioeconomic status, lifestyle or geography. Also infectious diseases cause
unnecessary illness, suffering and death, and place a huge burden on society due to costs associated
with direct medical care and lost productivity.
Surveillance is the ongoing systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of data
regarding a health related event for use in public health action to reduce morbidity and mortality and
to improve health.
Public health surveillance activities are authorized by the federal government and carried out by
public health officials at the state or local levels.

A Film Analysis Of The Movie Gothika
After watching Gothika in class, I had mixed emotions on it at first, but later realized that I
enjoyed this film for many reasons. This was the first time I ve watched the film Gothika and I
can say I was very intrigued mainly because of the suspension the film had. I knew this film was
going to be dark in a way from the beginning because of the greyness of the background and the
music it started with. There were some parts of the filmthat had me on the edge of my seat like
when Miranda was being visited by the ghost of Rachel. Scenes like that are the ones I enjoy the
most because I am curious as to what happens next so I think the film did a great job in that
aspect. There were also scenes that did not add up and made me even more confused than I
already was. For example, at the end of the film when Miranda and Chloe were out of the mental
hospital, that did not really make sense to me. Nonetheless, I think Gothikawas a good movie that
had me interested the entire time.
Halle Berry, who played Miranda Grey, did an amazing job throughout the film. In the beginning
of the film when Miranda was asking Chloe questions, you can see that Miranda had no emotion
to the answers Chloe was giving her even though her experience was horrific, but that was how
she was supposed to act. Even though Halle was playing a psychiatrist, she didn t really believe
what Chloe was saying and was just taking notes. Halle played a great psychiatrist in the
beginning of the film and a great patient throughout the film. I like how Halle was acting when
she was possessed because she played the part well and I thought it was quite believable. I also
really enjoyed Penelope Cruz s acting in this film. Penelope played the character of Chloe, a
prisoner, who killed her stepfather because he would rape her. Penelope s acting was so good I
would believe she was a real prisoner and that she was really crazy. In the end of the film, Chloe
was so much better because she wasn t being raped anymore and she was back to normal which I
think made a good ending to her story. I think overall, the characters were played by great actors
who made it a more enjoyable movie for me. Gothika was very grey throughout the film most likely

Organic Flame Retardants
1.2.2.2 Organic flame retardants Organohalogens compounds are one of the major classes of flame
retardants, which means a class of organic compounds. They are the most common method for
using flame retardants in polymer materials. Most of these compounds act on the gas phase. The
halogen flame retardants disrupt the gas phase reactions by reducing the temperature of the fire.
Generally, halogenated compounds are widely used such as in industrial chemicals, as additive with
epoxy resins to obtain flame retardant materials. Halogen based compounds contain bromine and
chlorine, which are the most effective elements in the gas phase. Table 2 shows the most important
brominated and chlorinated flame retardants2.

Therefore, there is strong pressure from the government and those consider about the environment
to use non halogen flame retardants because of the health and environment concerns6. For example,
many organohalogen compounds, especially flame retardant epoxy resins containing bromine or
chlorine, can produce a super toxic halogenated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans that leads to
damage to human health6,9. In fact, the combustion of halogen compounds produces toxic smoke,
which is potentially harmful to humans and animals. Therefore, most fire deaths and injuries result
from inhaling carbon monoxide. The incorporation of organohalogens makes the yield of toxic
smoke of products increase during combustion10. Therefore, a significant flame retardants should
be invent to make the most an efficient way of obtaining the environmentally friendly flame
retardant system.

Viola in The Twelfth Night
Who is Viola? Who REALLY is Viola? Viola is a very cunning, smart, and interesting character.
This is shown in Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night, this book is about three different lovers. The
Duke loves Olivia, Olivia loves Cesario/Viola, and Cesario/Viola loves the Duke. Viola is trying
to set up a new life after surviving a shipwreck in which her brother died. Viola is a cunning lady
with lots of attitude. Viola influences almost every other character as well. She unintentionally
tricks both the Duke and Olivia, she confuses Antonia, who believes she is Sebastian (her brother),
and she confuses her brother, Sebastian, who believed that she was dead. Viola is someone we can
all learn from.
In Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night, Viola is very much like a spy. She knew secret information of
all three people (the Duke, Olivia, and herself) in the love triangle. I have been lead to this
conclusion because of both her knowledge of secrets, and by how she relayed information to
and from the Duke. Many quotes showed her secret knowledge, for example, in act 2 scene 3 My
master loves her dearly; And I, poor monster, fond as much on him; And she, mistaken, seems to
dote on me. (Lines 15 40) Viola knew of the pickle of love everyone was in before anyone else
figured it out. Also, in act 2 scene 4 (Lines 117 125) Viola said But let concealment, like worm i the
bud, Feed on her damask cheek; In this part of the book, Viola is like a spy because she knows both

Good Versus Evil In Ray Bradbury s Something Wicked This...
Emma Begley Wilson Pre Ap Ela 09 October 2017 Something Wicked This Way Comes Have
you ever had a feeling someone or something is coming well in the novel Something Wicked
This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury this is what happens. In a little town called Green Town,
Illinois two boys get approached by a man holding a stick and the boys get persuaded about this
stick. The man tells them that it keeps lightening away and one boy falls for it while the one
does not. As the story progresses the theme Good versus Evil really becomes apparent to the
reader. This is supported by the title, the time, and the characters. The theme of this text is good
versus evil. This novel has many different components to support the theme. The title of the
novel even supports this theme because it is implying that something evil is coming and the
good in the world is going to be attacked. As the story develops the characters and the setting
helps develop the theme. The Freaks and its carnival really help you get the idea that evil is not
really a feeling or action but more of a figure or form because the carnival is all evil. He wanted
to be near and not near them, he saw them close, he saw them far. Suddenly they were awfully

Well, this is it. Today is the day where I finally try out for my school s soccer team. This morning
i woke up startled by the enormously loud sound of an alarm on my friend s phone. His name
was Bailey Ivester. I ve known him since 6th grade year. Boy is he annoying sometimes. Most of
the time he acts like he is the top dog or the best of the best . He stayed over at my house the day
before, we were both supposed to try out for the soccer team. To be honest. He really wasn t that
good at it. Like i said, he thought he was the best of the best . After we woke up Bailey and i ate

We were going against Lexington high school. While we walked onto the field examined the
other team. I had a lot of confidence in myself and tried to hype up my team and gave my team
an inspiring speech when we all came together to form a circle. Next we all walked onto the field
into our positions, i was starting. I was the left forward position. Forwards in soccer are the most
difficult position on the field because that was the position where your suppose to score most of the
points and control the offense. I was always a forward because coach said i had a lot of speed,
agility, and good footwork. At this time the game had started, we had the ball first i passed it to the
other forward on our team. His name was Jimmy, he was the most aggressive forward on our team.
He was a great forward. At this time it was near the end of the game. The score was 3 6 we were
losing terribly. Everybody on our team was tired and bummed out and lost hope. We were all tired
of losing all the time. I saw the emptiness in everyone s eyes. I felt sad as well. While i was running
on the field i heard our goalkeeper named Matias yell out GRAYSON !!. I turned around fast and
forgot everything else. I saw Matias lob the ball down the other side of the field to where i was
running. My eyes were all on that ball, i saw it flying in the air then falling towards me while i
ran as fast as i could to catch up to it. A voice in my head just kept saying, just go for it! . So i
waited at the right moment to where the ball was perfectly positioned to where i was able to
header the ball into the goal. Finally it was that time, i lunged into the air as high as i could, as
soon as i tried to header the ball into the goal in mid air. One of the players on the opponent s

There is no noise level while listening. My interpretation of White Rabbit is that the narrator
discusses how drugs can be used in defiance to escape authority. As mentioned above, White Rabbit
is influenced by Lewis Carroll s Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass.
The first verse argues that the world is in color, but that people in authority sometimes tries to
enforce that the world is either black or white. Since the general public out numbers those in
authority, they can lead a protest that can change the ways of society and the law. When the
protesters gain their victory, they can feel like their ten feet tall.
The second verse then process to discuss that not all protests are successful. In fact, some people
protest even though they may not necessary know the whole story and/or know that the protest will
fail. When questioned on why they are protesting, some may say that a leader had rallied them to a
cause. It is known that not all protests are peaceful, and that protesters may be harmed by anti
protest methods. During that time, they need to remember Alice s courage when she was just

Frederick Douglass Compare And Contrast Essay
The Narrative of Frederick Douglass and the Aquariums of Pyongyang are both very historical
novels. These two novels both include similar meanings and different writing styles. While the
Narrative of Frederick Douglass and the Aquariums of Pyongyang both contain similarities they
also contain vital differences.
Frederick Douglass and Kang Chol Won conflicts were very different. While Frederick Douglass
was born into the situation, Kang was forced into this situation by his grandfather plotting against
the North Korean government. Another major difference is that Frederick Douglass was
discriminated because of his looks and not because of what he had done. During the time of which
Kang was in the labor camp, he did have some hope while Frederick Douglass knew he was never
going to be free unless he escaped. Education was also a major difference in both of these books. In

First of all, the Narrative of Frederick Douglass had lots of Ethos and persuasion in the north
while the south didn t believe there was creditability during the time periods. The Aquariums of
Pyongyang shows lots of pathos and emotion for Kang Chol Won. To elaborate on this, the
Aquariums of Pyongyang s tone was very sorrow and made you feel doleful. Another key
difference is that the Aquariums of Pyongyang was written by a ghost writer but the Narrative of
Frederick Douglass was an autobiography. Frederick Douglass writing style also showed more
loaded language and comparisons, like how he portrays the boats on the Chesapeake Bay to
freedom. The Aquariums of Pyongyang is very fast moving and does not describe one topic for
very long but rather has intriguing context. Despite the fact that these books were written about

Symbolism In Go Tell It On The Mountain
In Go Tell It on the Mountain, James Baldwin works with themes of gender, violence, and
change. He does this through Florence, Gabriel, and the symbol of morning. The author is trying
to say people s decision can be determined by external factors. Florence is treated differently
because she is girl. Education is not offered to her, but to her brother who hates to learn. And he
needed the education that Florence desired far more than he, and that she might have got if he had
not been born. She should take all the responsibilities and do all the works at home as a woman.
And she [mother] wanted Florence, also, to be content helping with the washing, and fixing meals
and keeping Gabriel quiet... Florence was a girl, and all the duties of a woman; and this being
so, her life in the cabin was the best possible preparation for her future life. Her mother has
different attitudes toward her and her brother. Gabriel was the apple of his mother s eye. If he

PlatoпїЅпїЅs Symposium, And Ovid s The Art Of Love
Destiny or Deception
Lao Tzu, one of ancient China s greatest philosophers once said when asked to explain what love
is, [it] is of all passions the strongest, for it attacks simultaneously the head, the heart and the senses.
Since the beginning of time, writers and philosophers have been trying to discover the origins of
this attack, and many attribute different reasons for this immense feeling. In both Plato s
Symposium, and Ovid s The Art of Love, Aristophanes and Ovid attempt to address the genesis of
love by asking: what is the feeling that drives us towards another human: Is it physical attraction?
Sexual desire? Experience in the field of dating? Or is this attack of the senses due to something
beyond our comprehension, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole premise of his book, is to give advice to the man who needs instruction in loving (105).
If love were something destined, the chase would simply be unnecessary, and the advice on how to
love would be useless.
Aristophanes defines love as the pursuit of wholeness, implying that true love eventually leads
you to goodness. He goes on to say that once one finds their other half, they are overwhelmed, to
an amazing extent, with affection, concern, and love. This rather positive view of love is quite
opposite from Ovid s view. Ovid treats love like a realist, recognizing that it can be
heartbreaking, even going on to compare it to war. Ovid also warns his readers about the
dangers of love by saying if you re uncertain at all, never step over the sill (183). In other words,
he is encouraging them to love rationally, because he is aware of the dangers of heartbreak. In fact,
Ovid wrote an entire book about how to deal with heartbreak, titled The Remedies for Love. There
is nothing in Aristophanes speech, or The Symposium itself that mentions how to deal with getting
over someone, further emphasizing the idea that the greeks had a rather idealistic view of the
emotion, not fully recognizing its detrimental effects.
When it comes to approaching love, Ovid recognizes that the right person is not going to come to
you floating down from the heavens (106), and that is why he writes his book in the first place: to
guide others in finding a match of sorts.

Trojan War Essay
In the book The Trojan War, by Bernard Evslin, Ulysses and Agamemnon both contribute to the
Greek s victory. Many considered Ulysses to be the real brains behind the Greek forces. Although
Agamemnon was the leader of the Greeks, many would say he was not a good one. Even though
Agamemnon did some good deeds during the war, many of his actions caused problems, and
Ulysses often had to come to his rescue.
With Ulysses on the Greeks side they had amazing intelligence and bravery. Many great things
happened because of Ulysses leadership. One example is when Ulysses dressed as a peddler, found

His stupidity and arrogance made him unfit for leadership. An example of him being selfish is
when he sacrificed his own daughter, Iphegehia, to the gods so he would have good luck and a
safe journey to and from Troy. When Agamemnon returned home from the war his wife killed
him for sacrificing their lovely daughter. A time showing Agamemnon as ignorant was when he
almost lost all of the troops. He told them it was time to leave the war and head home. He was only
trying to weed out the cowards, but it turned out everyone ran for the ships. Thirdly, he refused to
give back Cressida, his slave girl, when he was supposed to. As a result, Apollo shot arrows of
pestilence at the Greeks. Many Greeks ended up being killed. Lastly, he was selfish and took
Achilles slave girl when his had to be returned. He said, It is my duty to take someone else s slave
to repay me for the loss of the lovely Cressida, for a king deprived is a half a king, and half a king
means defeat in warfare (p 29).
As you can see Ulysses is a brave, smart man who helped lead the Greeks to a tremendous victory.
On the other hand, Agamemnon caused suffering and pain for not only individuals but for all the
men fighting. Some believe that if the Greek troops had not been led by Agamemnon the war
would not have lasted as long. Maybe that statement would be true, maybe not, but we

and a number of people struggle for writing ability.
On the other hand, the other system of communication is non verbal communication. Non verbal
communication is the sending or receiving of wordless messages. Therefore communication other
than oral and written, such as gesture, body language, posture, tone of voice or facial expressions is
called non verbal communication. According to Mehrabian (1972) non verbal communication
describes the process of conveying meaning in the form of non word messages . Non verbal
communication helps the receiver in interpreting the message received. Often, non verbal signals
reflect the situation more accurately than verbal messages. Sometimes non verbal responses
contradict verbal communication and hence affect the effectiveness of message.
More so, non verbal communication has three elements which are; appearance, body language and
sounds. Appearance includes the speaker, clothing, hairstyle, neatness and use of cosmetics, more
so, surrounding and furnishings. Body language includes facial expressions, gestures and postures.
Sounds includes voice tone, volume and speech rate. According to Martes (2011) forms of non

Scanning Electron Microscopy And Microscopy
1.SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY
Scanning electron microscopy uses a focused beam of electrons to develop an image of the surface.
Signal is generated by the interaction of electrons with the surface, which are then detected and
perceived to obtain image and desired information related to the characteristics and topography.
1.1.WHY SEM USES ELECTRONS?
The resolution power of an eye is about 0.2 mm. However, utilizing a microscope magnify this
resolution power. The modern light microscope has a magnifying power of 1000x. The
wavelength of the light used can alter the resolving power of the microscope. Visible light as
compared to an electronic beam can focus the minute details of the surface. The signals that are
derived from electron ample interaction displays information about the physico chemical structure,
crystalline morphology and orientation of the arrays of molecules that make up the sample. A
dimensional image is generated showing spatial changes in properties (1) .
Areas of around 1 to 5 microns can be imaged by using conventional SEM techniques with a
magnifying range from 20x to 30,000x. SEM precision to view can be analyzed by keeping in view
a fact that it is cable of analyzing a particular sample point. This methodology can be employed for
quantitative determination. SEM is advantageous over traditional microscopic technique. SEM has
more deep investigational details as compared to the conventional characterization techniques. SEM
has much higher resolution

Rhetorical Analysis Of Dr. King s Letter From Birmingham Jail
In Dr. King s, Letter from Birmingham Jail, King specifically writes to the Clergymen of
Birmingham, AL. While taking into consideration those who might hear his acknowledgments of
what s going on, to justify and explain his intentions, while also trying to appeal to these audiences
to make them see the harsh consequences of unfair and biased inequalities that consume the city of
Birmingham Al., during this time. Dr. King specifically writes this letter to the priest who had
insinuated that the situation of racial discrimination was controlled by those of the law and
authority, which they felt was not to involve Dr. King and his followers.
Dr.King uses different examples throughout the text and does an excellent job in making the
argument more approachable. With key points and non violent intentions, which he is trying to get

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Just In Time
Introduction
Today, numerous companies are willing to keep or own their particular inventory in order to
fulfil endless satisfaction of consumers. However, these stocks may be costly in terms of prices
and their performance. For example, these stocks may be stolen, lost, damaged, out dated,
deteriorate and so on. They may also require huge number of capital to keep them in respective
stores. Moreover, it may not be a wise way as changing demand in economy. After all, this action

Disadvantages of JIT Despite of those advantages, everything has its advantages and

Dangers Of Stereotyping
Dangers Of Stereotyping Emergency!!!! Danger is near!! Dangers of stereotyping to be exact.
There are 3 topics for my reasoning as stereotyping is a dangerous social bias. The three topics
that are going to be used are things fall apart, aria memoirs of a bilingual child, and the theme for
English B. These topics will show my argument about stereotyping. The first topic that is going
to be shown is things fall apart. The main idea of this topic is that Okonkwo s village (Umofia)

powerful in war in magic its priels medicine were feared in all the surrounding country. (Pg 11)

Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality
Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few hours of my
day, nor is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since the early days of my youth, I
used to imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss with myself what I have learned, directing
questions and trying to extract answers. Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in
explaining the targeted topics, but also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became
clear to me; I know that I understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become
my way of dealing with any subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a
personal challenge, and do my best to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This has become my
basic contribution in teaching, to dismantle any complex topic to its simplest elements, so that
students do not face any problem in dealing with it; that is in discussing, analysing, and
understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas into simpler equivalents is such an arduous task
that requires time and effort, but I chose this it as my method in teaching, because I believe that it
is the students right to get clear ideas, not a confused set of thoughts. Apart from my personal
inclinations, my teaching experience has provided me with a good opportunity to deal with
students from diverse backgrounds, and to explore different teaching methods with them. As a
lecturer at Cairo University, I have gained

Health Care Issues Of The American Indian Population
Health Care Issues in the American Indian Population Jennifer Lozada St John Fisher My dad
always called me a mut , meaning I had too many ethnic backgrounds to count. He was never sure
what the percentage of each of my ethnicities was. I have multiple, from both my parents sides
from German, Puerto Rican, Pennsylvania Dutch, Dutch, Italian, and lastly that I know of
Cherokee Indian. Always being very interested in my background I choose to understand why
American Indian became and vulnerable population to begin with. Wanted to understand why this
population had so many health care issues. Our nomadic ancestors of our modern Native
Americans as we know today made their way over the land bridge from Asia which is now called
Alaska over more than 12,000 years ago. Dividing these nomadic areas into culture areas, or
groupings of connecting people who shared similar habitats and characteristics into 10 separate
culture areas: the Arctic, the Subarctic, the Northeast, the Southeast, the Plains, the Southwest, the
Great Basin, California, the Northwest Coast and the Plateau. Focusing on the Southeast, I want to
narrow it down to Cherokee Indians because this is my background ethnicity. This being one of
the American Indians that we associate with today in our vulnerable populations and health care
issues. These nomads were known for their farming, growing staple crops to survive. They were
called one of the five civilized tribes . The main issues that

Broken Age Research Paper
Broken Age is a point and click adventure game. There are two different playable characters one
is named Vella Tartine and the other is Shay Volta that are found in similar worlds and situations
that the player switches back and forth to the other player; otherwise there is little contact
between the two characters. The player can direct their character around the screen looking at
objects and talk to the people to figure out what s in the world. The game was designed by Tim
Schafer and his company Double Fine Productions after a very successful Kickstarter campaign
that earned over $1 million dollars. This is his first game since Grim Fandango to be a point and

themes like loneliness, the definition of growing up, and sacrifice. The writing in the game will

you can hop into the other s and work on theirs. The brilliance lies in the player being able to
decide when to switch to the other character instead of having to be stuck on one puzzle until it s

The First Year Of The Magna
Being the 800th anniversary year of the Magna Carta the debate of whether or not it is time for the
UK to adopt a written constitution has resurfaced, paving way for contrasting arguments relating to
the need for modernisation in the 21st century, against the need to retain tradition. It must be
mentioned that for the purposes of this discussion the term unwritten is in the context that the UK
constitution is not recorded onto a single codified document. While not presented onto a single
document the constitution is written , and as appropriately stated by Lord Scarman today our
constitution is not unwritten but hard and difficult to find . Currently, the UK constitution is
composed of numerous rules and legal principles that have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Former Secretary of State for Justice Jack Straw described the current constitution as [existing]
within the hearts and minds and habits as much as it does in law. 3 Most of the current UK
constitution can be located within a mass of common law and statues which is rather inaccessible
to the average citizen and the rest deriving from tradition and so is considered to be common
knowledge . With a written constitution key constitutional rules can be collected onto a single
document and clarified allowing for better accessibility to the masses. A future written constitution
would need to be inclusive and not one that only parliamentarians and legal experts are able to
decipher, and ultimately could bring the government and the governed closer together4 much like
the effect that the 5th amendment has had on American citizens. On the contrary, the charm and
appeal of the current UK constitution may be lost in removing it s archaic traditions by adopting a
modernised approach. The mantra of if it isn t broken, don t fix it is often the line of reasoning for
many when debating against a written constitution for a traditional and conservative Britain.
Professor Barber contended Britain s constitution has, by and large, been a success as is has
produced stable government and

1984 Dystopian Analysis
Dystopia fictional novels are supposed to be just that, fiction. The author s intent is to send a
message in a fabricated world. However the story 1984 appears to be more real than fantasy in
2018. Global threat North Korea possesses many of the same qualities as the Party does in 1984
and making the dystopian society in the novel seem closer to the real world than we thought.
Through symbols in the novel such as the telescreens and the news, we are able to see exactly
how the Party is able to control the people by completely eliminating any sense of privacy.
Winston is able to give us a first hand perspective of this oppression through an unbiased view.

Telescreens are a computer screen which the Thought Police uses to survey the people as well
as a way for the Party to communicate information. Their placement is all over the entire state of
Oceania leaving no privacy for any of the Oceanian citizens. Winston says, Every sound you
made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized (Orwell 3). This
shows the telescreens allow constant surveillance, and even in the dark, it picks up ever sounds.
Therefore, these devices make it so that the Party knows what you are doing all the time. This
also shows there is no margin for error when it comes to the Party. Any disobedient gesture or act
will be picked up the telescreens. The Thought Police will arrest you if they pick up any sort of
act or thought of action against the Party. Even in the safety of your own home, you are really not
safe at all. However there is one thing the telscreen cannot pick up, He thought of the telescreen
with its never sleeping ear. Winston explains, They could spy upon you night and day, but if you
kept your head you could still outwit them (Orwell 166). This shows that the telescreen is always
watching with its never sleeping ear. However, one thing the telescreens cannot control is the
human mind and knowledge. This where the media and news and the how the Party runs it comes

How Did The Use Of Constantinople Lead To The Decline Of...
In the previous 200 years leading to the demise of Constantinople in 1453, the economy of the
Byzantine Empire had begun to decline and would never recover. Recognizing the situation in
1369, Emperor John V fruitlessly pursued economic aid from other Western civilizations. As the
economic situation of Constantinoplecontinued to decline they became a vassal state (much like a
colony) to the Turks. As a result, they were required to pay taxes and tribute to the Ottoman Empire.
They were also required to provide military support to the Ottoman Empire. After many years of
being a vassal state to the Ottoman Empire Murad II, the empire s new leader, decided in 1421 that
he would conquer the Byzantine Empire. Murad decided to take away all rights given to the people
of Constantinople and laid siege to their city. Although Murad was not able to see the city be...

This is because after the other Christian civilizations in Europe refused to help protect
Constantinople from the Islamic Ottomans , they soon began to fear invasions from the even more
powerful Turks. This fear is shown when immediately after the Ottomans took over Pope Nicholas
V attempted to lead a Crusade to take back the city but no European monarch was willing to supply
men. This lead to The Ottomans taking advantage and attacking Venice twice. Another way the
invasion of Constantinople has changed history is that once conquered it was seen as a sign from
God because of all of the other Islamic civilizations that attempted to conquer Constantinople and
failed. This lead to the decision that Constantinople would be renamed Istanbul and become the
capital of the Ottoman Empire (modern day Turkey). Also, when the city fell there was a crescent
moon in the sky which is the reason why many Islamic nations contain the crescent moon on their
flags. These are some ways that the fall of Constantinople has affected our world

A man is limited physically by a rope tied around his hands and feet. Villagers are limited
intellectually where none of them have traveled around the world or they have not seen any of the
natural beauties and diversities that the world has to offer. One is limited quite simply and clearly
while the other simply cannot fathom the awe inspiring sight bestowed upon them. These are the
unlikely scenarios that confront readers of The Bound Man, by Ilse Aichinger, and The
Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, by Garcia Marquez. The Bound Man is a story about a
man who awoke to find himself stuck in a predicament where he has been tied up, knocked out, and

In the case of The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, the characters are limited spiritually
initially but reach spiritual enlightenment throughout the progression of the villagers journey.
This is demonstrated by the women s realization that the body is beautiful in a way they have
never seen before, that body s physical abilities, the body s name and personality, and finally
enlightenment. The bound man in The Bound Man realizes that he has the ability to move,
which shows him that not all hope is lost... or that children (due to the lack of quality in the
bounds) simply played a mere joke on him. Although this event is not part of the bound man s
journey, it is the catalyst for his embarkment. During one of the beginning parts, he tries to stand
but is unable to but, at the end of this first experience, he moves quite efficiently. He laid his
head back on the grass, rolled over, and struggled to his knees. He tested the ground with his toes,
and then managed to stand up almost without effort. (Aichinger 69). This experience describes the
bound man s progress through the first, stage of reaching enlightenment. At first he tried to reach
his goal of standing up but failed because he is not fully aware of what his own limitations are. He
realizes what he needs to be aware of and proceeds to

Genocide In Sarajevo
The Australian Daily
Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Austrian heir, and his beloved wife Sophie, the duchess of Hohenburg,
were shot and killed today by a Bosnian Serb nationalist during their official visit to Sarajevo, the

Bosnia.
Prior to his visit to Sarajevo, the Archduke received multiple warnings to cancel the trip, however
he still departed.
This morning, as Ferdinand and his wife were on their way to a reception at the town hall of
Sarajevo where the major of Sarajevo had been expecting them. Little did they know that seven
young Bosnians had fanned along the Appel Quay, the main avenue of Sarajevo running parallel to
the Milijacka River where a Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic hurled bomb was thrown at
their open topped motor car but instead rolling underneath a different vehicle.

Pros And Cons Of Self Driving Cars
Technology is ever advancing in our society today. It continues to progress and further itself and it
is benefiting us substantially. It is helping our epistemological understanding on the way the world
operates and how to further our work and understanding of the world. It is benefiting us
economically, making it faster to produce goods and creating new ways to make money. One of the
fastest growing ways to earn a fortune is that of the automobileindustry and the evolution of cars. In
the early 1900 s, Henry Ford start the assembly line for the Model T, which mass produced cars. It
evolves with interchangeable parts, so if something broke it was less expensive to repair. 100 years
later, we now look to make cars able to drive on their own, self driving cars, but is it a good idea?
There are many benefits and just as many negatives to having a self driving car, and this will be a
brief synopsis on what some of these reasons are.
There are several ways that these self driving cars can be manufactured and operated in order to
make them how they are. One method is to attach a copious amount of sensors to the vehicle so
anytime it senses an object coming it ll avoid it. This method wouldn t be very practical,
however, because oncoming traffic would run the car off the road. There would also be no way to
keep the vehicle in the road because there would be nothing to keep the vehicle on the road. Or,
possibly, the sensors could go bad if they get covered with elements anywhere in

If rates are different for similar assets, comparability is also hurt; again, disclosure is important.
7. A firm would consider the following factors in their choice of amortization methods: nature and
use of asset, corporate reporting objectives, industry norms, parent company preferences, the desire
to minimize future (deferred) taxes, and the accounting system costs associated with a given
method.
8. An asset with a thirty year life will be amortized over a shorter period when it is expected to be

9. The straight line method reports depreciation as a variable amount per unit of output and a fixed
amount per period, whereas the productive output method reports depreciation as a fixed amount
per unit of output and a variable amount per period.
10. Straight line amortization is likely popular because it is simple to calculate, logically appealing,
rational and systematic, often portrays the pattern of benefits received (equal each period), and
because it provides a stable expense pattern.
11. Accelerated methods of amortization result in a periodic amortization charge that is less in each
succeeding period than the prior period. There are a number of variations of the accelerated
methods, such as the declining balance method and the sum of the years digits method. These
methods are appropriate when an asset contributes to revenue

  • 2. Spanking a Child and Child Abuse Spanking a child is not against the law in most places. However, parents who use it in their homes are being accused of child abuse. The Chicago Tribune published an article that urged readers to report child abuse when they become aware of it. In the article Child abuse in plain View the author describes spankingas a type of abuse that happens behind closed doors ( Child abuse in plain View ). Like most critics of corporal punishment, the author is trying to link spanking to abuse. The author`s concern about abuse is a valid one. Abuse should be reported immediately. However, any attempt to define spanking as abuse is wrong. Spanking a child is not abuse. It is an effective way of discipline that helps guide the child into becoming a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that parents do not spank their children at all. They think that time out and removal of privileges is better than corporal punishment ( Child Abuse in Plain View ). The AAP should know that balance is the key when it comes to discipline. Incorrectly using any form of discipline can have negative effects. Placing a child in time out too much may cause the child to become withdrawn. Constantly yelling at a child could cause a child to feel angry or depressed. Spanking a child for every mishap could cause a child to be fearful of making a mistake. The bottom line is that every child is different. What works for one child may not work for the other. Some children respond well to time out. For some, a spanking may the best way to correct unwanted behavior. Parents should decide what is best for the child, at that moment. Parents should also decide whether the child s behavior is a direct challenge of authority, when deciding which discipline method to use (Dobson 29). A child who decides to be an artist for the day and draws on the wall is not being defiant. On the other hand, a child who continues to draw on the wall after being warned not to, several times is being defiant. A child who does not clean up his room should not be disciplined the same as a child who curses his parents. Corporal punishment may be the best solution for deliberate disrespect. It will immediately cause a child to re think his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Theatre History Research Paper Elizabeth Phillips David Wolski Theatre History December 6, 2017 The Masters Behind Teatro Olimpico Two men are responsible for the beautiful architecture that is the Teatro Olimpico but neither of them worked on it at the same time. Both Andrea Palladio and his successor Vincenzo Scamozzi contributed their own ideas to the theatre. It is fact that Palladio had his hand in most of the design but it can be argued that the Teatro Olimpico would not be as it is today without Scamozzi. Looking at the history before the Teatro Olimpico was built, it starts with a group that was founded by Palladio himself, the Accademia Olimpica. The group was founded in 1555 and focused on bringing classical theatre into the Renaissance. Palladio s contribution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was a lover of the Roman architecture and classical theatre. Palladio had illustrated Daniele Barbaro s Italian translation of Vitruvius De architectura, which was a detailed work that explained what theatre was like in the Roman Empire. It includes floorplans for Roman theatres and an elevation for the scaenae frons of Vicenza s ruined Roman theatre, the Teatro Berga. The scaenae frons is the elaborately decorated permanent architectural background of a Roman theatre stage. Normally there are three entrances to the stage (Palmyra has five) including a grand central entrance, known as the porta regia or royal door . The form may have been intended to resemble the facades of imperial palaces.[1] The scaenae frons is often two and sometimes three stories in height and was central to the theatre s visual impact for this was what was seen by a Roman audience at all times. Tiers or balconies were supported by an exuberant display of columns, normally in the Corinthian order, often originally including many statues in niches.[2] In smaller theatres it could support a permanent roof, enclosing the whole theatre, and in larger ones awnings over the whole or parts of the theatre, perhaps secured to masts rising above it, for which there is some evidence.[3]As well, Palladio s papers include plans for the imagined reconstruction of the ... Both their coolers and their cups have many cheaper substitutes from competitors that some may view as equal value. With regards to their business structure, YETI has multiple small business units within their company that act almost independently from each other, such as Accounting, marketing, and production. This can be viewed as a weakness because each business unit has a specific role that can not be performed by another business unit. YETI products are very expensive in comparison to competitors which may inhibit sales, although it may also work to let YETI stand out as the superior product. A major problem that currently exists is their slogan certified Grizzly Proof , because this can cause confusion with one of their main competitors Grizzly Coolers. • 5. The Red Badge Of Courage The Red Badge of Courage is a war novel written to exemplify the experiences and emotions of a young soldier in the American Civil War. The novel details the qualities of maturity and manhood in a gripping tale of Private Henry Fleming of the Union Army. The author, Stephen Crane wishes to relate the American public to the emotional and psychological challenges endured by countless men in the Civil War. Born in 1871, Stephen Cranewas raised in a Methodist family. While training to become a professional baseball player, he eventually chose to write as his career. Throughout most of his life, Stephen stuck to his commitment that all his work should be backed by personal experience on the subject matter. However, his most famous work, The Red Badge of Couragewas completely based on his remarkable imagination. He had no war experience; however, his vivid descriptions and details of war surprised critics with their incredible accuracy. Stephen s approach at writing the novel was to emphasize the passion, confusion, and growth of the soldiers, as most of the war tales at the time were merely factual. The Red Badge of Courage presents war in a new light, one of emotional struggles and mental milestones. In the tense times of today, it is easy to forget the maturity and courage of our nation s heroes. Many writers and politicians portray war as a battle between good and evil, or as a fight for superiority. While this may be true, it is necessary to remember the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The guests thought that, being in a refuge with nothing coming in or out, they would be safer; however, it turns out that the Red Death came after them and hunted them down. The clock symbolizes time of their death, as if the time for their death came closer each time. Slave Codes In The Slave Most slaves could not read or write, and they were not allowed to be taught how to read or write, therefore they found ways to communicate with each other in different forms that their owners would not be able to understand. Sometimes codes were created by whites who were helping the slaves and the slaves who had already escaped. Some examples of communication, also known as codes, are songs, quilts, dancing, and drums. Songs were used in everyday life by African slaves. The slaves called these songs negro spirituals. People such as Harriet Tubmanand others used songs as a means for communication amongst each other in their fight to gain freedom. Many slaves knew the secret meanings of words from the negro spirituals, so they could be used to signal many things. For example, Harriet Tubman used the song Wade in the Water to tell slaves who were trying to escape to get off the trail and go into the water. This made sure that the dogs slavecatchers couldn t sniff out their trail. Other slaves used songs as signals. For example, the Virginia slave Nat Turner, who organized a revolt against slave owners, used the song Steal Away as a signal to call people together to talk about their plans ( Joe Carter and the Legacy of African American Spirituals. ) The Underground Railroadis a huge example of where slaves used codes to communicate. Wealth Gap Between Whites And Minorities Essay Wealth Gap in America America has a lengthy history on how it became the powerful country it is today, and although its history can be interrupted in many ways (depending who you ask) one thing that is for certain is that wealth has yet to be distributed equally amongst minorities. According to the article Income inequality matter; Extreme gap in wealth makes society unstable. Philip Meyer claims that the wealth gap between whites and minorities has existed since Ronald Reagans term of presidency (A9). Although Ronald Reagans term ended many years ago the mistakes that caused this imbalance of wealth (and its aftermath) while he was in office remains almost if not exactly the same as when the problem initially began (Meyer A9). The wealth gap continues to target minorities and is affecting our communities at an alarming rate, however, many attempts have been made to reduce its existence but the factors of income inequality, unemployment rates and discrimination before and after our recent 2007 recession prevents our country from eliminating such a toxic problem. The wealth gap is a problem that which the hard working people of America know very little about. • 18. A Film Analysis Of The Movie Gothika After watching Gothika in class, I had mixed emotions on it at first, but later realized that I enjoyed this film for many reasons. This was the first time I ve watched the film Gothika and I can say I was very intrigued mainly because of the suspension the film had. I knew this film was going to be dark in a way from the beginning because of the greyness of the background and the music it started with. There were some parts of the filmthat had me on the edge of my seat like when Miranda was being visited by the ghost of Rachel. Scenes like that are the ones I enjoy the most because I am curious as to what happens next so I think the film did a great job in that aspect. There were also scenes that did not add up and made me even more confused than I already was. For example, at the end of the film when Miranda and Chloe were out of the mental hospital, that did not really make sense to me. Nonetheless, I think Gothikawas a good movie that had me interested the entire time. Halle Berry, who played Miranda Grey, did an amazing job throughout the film. In the beginning of the film when Miranda was asking Chloe questions, you can see that Miranda had no emotion to the answers Chloe was giving her even though her experience was horrific, but that was how she was supposed to act. Even though Halle was playing a psychiatrist, she didn t really believe what Chloe was saying and was just taking notes. Halle played a great psychiatrist in the beginning of the film and a great patient throughout the film. I like how Halle was acting when she was possessed because she played the part well and I thought it was quite believable. I also really enjoyed Penelope Cruz s acting in this film. Penelope played the character of Chloe, a prisoner, who killed her stepfather because he would rape her. Penelope s acting was so good I would believe she was a real prisoner and that she was really crazy. In the end of the film, Chloe was so much better because she wasn t being raped anymore and she was back to normal which I think made a good ending to her story. I think overall, the characters were played by great actors who made it a more enjoyable movie for me. Gothika was very grey throughout the film most likely to emphasize ... They are the most common method for using flame retardants in polymer materials. Most of these compounds act on the gas phase. The halogen flame retardants disrupt the gas phase reactions by reducing the temperature of the fire. Generally, halogenated compounds are widely used such as in industrial chemicals, as additive with epoxy resins to obtain flame retardant materials. Halogen based compounds contain bromine and chlorine, which are the most effective elements in the gas phase. Table 2 shows the most important brominated and chlorinated flame retardants2. Therefore, there is strong pressure from the government and those consider about the environment to use non halogen flame retardants because of the health and environment concerns6. For example, many organohalogen compounds, especially flame retardant epoxy resins containing bromine or chlorine, can produce a super toxic halogenated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans that leads to damage to human health6,9. In fact, the combustion of halogen compounds produces toxic smoke, which is potentially harmful to humans and animals. Therefore, most fire deaths and injuries result from inhaling carbon monoxide. The incorporation of organohalogens makes the yield of toxic smoke of products increase during combustion10. Therefore, a significant flame retardants should be invent to make the most an efficient way of obtaining the environmentally friendly flame retardant system. Because of the environmental concerns about using organohalogen compounds to make flame retardants, using organophosphorus compounds as flame retardant with epoxy resins has degraded readily to form compounds have harmless effect. PlatoпїЅпїЅs Symposium, And Ovid s The Art Of Love Destiny or Deception Lao Tzu, one of ancient China s greatest philosophers once said when asked to explain what love is, [it] is of all passions the strongest, for it attacks simultaneously the head, the heart and the senses. Since the beginning of time, writers and philosophers have been trying to discover the origins of this attack, and many attribute different reasons for this immense feeling. In both Plato s Symposium, and Ovid s The Art of Love, Aristophanes and Ovid attempt to address the genesis of love by asking: what is the feeling that drives us towards another human: Is it physical attraction? Sexual desire? Experience in the field of dating? Or is this attack of the senses due to something beyond our comprehension, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole premise of his book, is to give advice to the man who needs instruction in loving (105). If love were something destined, the chase would simply be unnecessary, and the advice on how to love would be useless. Aristophanes defines love as the pursuit of wholeness, implying that true love eventually leads you to goodness. He goes on to say that once one finds their other half, they are overwhelmed, to an amazing extent, with affection, concern, and love. This rather positive view of love is quite opposite from Ovid s view. Ovid treats love like a realist, recognizing that it can be heartbreaking, even going on to compare it to war. Ovid also warns his readers about the dangers of love by saying if you re uncertain at all, never step over the sill (183). In other words, he is encouraging them to love rationally, because he is aware of the dangers of heartbreak. In fact, Ovid wrote an entire book about how to deal with heartbreak, titled The Remedies for Love. There is nothing in Aristophanes speech, or The Symposium itself that mentions how to deal with getting over someone, further emphasizing the idea that the greeks had a rather idealistic view of the emotion, not fully recognizing its detrimental effects. When it comes to approaching love, Ovid recognizes that the right person is not going to come to you floating down from the heavens (106), and that is why he writes his book in the first place: to guide others in finding a match of sorts. ... Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few hours of my day, nor is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since the early days of my youth, I used to imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss with myself what I have learned, directing questions and trying to extract answers. Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in explaining the targeted topics, but also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became clear to me; I know that I understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become my way of dealing with any subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a personal challenge, and do my best to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This has become my basic contribution in teaching, to dismantle any complex topic to its simplest elements, so that students do not face any problem in dealing with it; that is in discussing, analysing, and understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas into simpler equivalents is such an arduous task that requires time and effort, but I chose this it as my method in teaching, because I believe that it is the students right to get clear ideas, not a confused set of thoughts. This method wouldn t be very practical, however, because oncoming traffic would run the car off the road. There would also be no way to keep the vehicle in the road because there would be nothing to keep the vehicle on the road. Or, possibly, the sensors could go bad if they get covered with elements anywhere in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
