- Japan maintains a multilayered ballistic missile defense system to defend against threats from North Korea, including Aegis destroyers, Patriot PAC-3 missiles, and AN/TPY-2 radars deployed by the United States.
- Japan looks to enhance this system in the future by upgrading Aegis ships and interceptors, deploying new radars, and cooperating with the United States on developing the more advanced SM-3 Block IIA interceptor missile.
- In response to an expected North Korean satellite launch, Japan deployed Aegis ships, Patriot batteries, and support units according to its ballistic missile defense operation plans and coordination procedures.

A Day in the LIfe of the Integrated Training Command at EglinICSA, LLC
This briefing was provided by the 33rd Fighter Wing of Eglin AFB, the home of the Integrated Training Command,
The Command is a unique joint and coalition training command correlated with the F-35 as a global fleet.
The brief provides insight into the command and its operations.
You can understand what is a ballistic missile, how important it is for a country and importance of ballistic missile defence system. It also describes where India stands in BMDS evolution.
BVR combat was, for a long time, dream of both Western and Asian air forces. Today, it seems that the dream has been finally fulfilled; but is that really so?

An astonishing, first-of-its-kind, report by the NYT assessing damage in Ukraine. Even if the war ends tomorrow, in many places there will be nothing to go back to.

6. North Korea’s actions
Security Environment Surrounding Japan (in BMD context)
Has repeatedly heightened tension in the Asia-Pacific region by escalating its
provocative rhetoric and behavior against Japan and other countries.
Technological improvements have been made to extend the range and increase
the accuracy of its ballistic missiles through a series of missile launches.
Conducted nuclear tests in defiance of calls for restraint from the international
community.
Ⅱ. Future BMD system
North Korea’s nuclear and missile development, coupled with its provocative
rhetoric and behavior, such as suggesting a missile attack on Japan, pose a
serious and imminent threat to Japan’s security.

7. BMD Related Entries in the National Defense Program Guideline (Excerpt)
NDPG (Dec. 17, 2010)
The SDF will respond to ballistic missile attacks by maintaining a
continuous ISR posture. In addition, the SDF will respond effectively to
ballistic missiles capable of evading interceptors by developing a multi-
layered defense posture. Should by some chance any damage were to
occur, the Government will take consequence management measures to
minimize it.
New NDPG (Dec. 17, 2013)
To counter North Korea’s improved ballistic missile capability, Japan will
pursue comprehensive improvement of its response capability against the
threat of ballistic missiles.
With regard to the BMD system, Japan will enhance readiness,
simultaneous engagement capability and sustainable response capability to
strengthen the capability to protect the entire territory….
