The modern use of chemical weapons has been used since World War I. By using poisonous gas
to inflict suffering and significant casualties. For example, chlorine, phosgene, and mustard gas
were used to inflict burns on the skin or as a choking agent. Since the time of World War I,

Introduction:
As Gowthope (2005, p.148) said that: A budget is a plan, expressed in financial and/or more general
quantitative terms, which extends forward for a period into the future. Budgets are widely used in
organisations of all types and sizes. Budgeting actually refers to the process that, after the strategic
plan of the business has been made, companies made a short term plan (usually one year) to meet
the strategic purpose. Traditional budgeting has offered a lot of contributions in so many years‟
practice; no one has a better summary of all advantage of traditional budget as ... Show more

Traditional Budgeting Approach (TBA):
There are various methods to prepare a budget. Here we are concerned with the traditional approach
to budgeting known also as the incremental budgeting which involves basing next year‟s budget
on the current year‟s results plus an extra amount for estimated growth or inflation (APC309
Workbook, 2008).
It is claimed that in many organisations the traditional budgeting remains widespread, and that 99%
of European and US companies are using budgets and have no intention of abandoning them, it was
also stated that over 60% of those companies claim that they are not highly satisfied with their
current budgeting systems and are continuously trying to improve the budgeting process to meet
the demands set for management in creating sustainable value (report: Better Budgeting, 2004, p.2
3). From this perspective it is obvious that traditional budgeting approach and budgets in general
hold many benefits as well as problems.
Implementing TBA on a static market:
When implemented within businesses, such technique will be more suitable for firms where each
year‟s performance and activities are similar to the previous one and conditions are predictable,
an active market that can take up large sales which do not change much in relation with changes

External And Business Issues In The Viacom Company
The Viacom Company through the process of its stability has endured many issues both from the
external and internal environment. The issues may largely affect the company s performance in
both markets and also achieve a loyal customer/viewer base as well as the ability to hire and retain
employees in the television business that is very competitive. The competition could be threatening
to Viacomsince, through constant innovation and creativity from the competitors, even the loyal
viewers of its networks could easily be swayed towards other new directions. Therefore, Viacom
would largely benefit if the issues are closely addressed with optimal carefulness and efficient
strategies. The strategies will keep the company on its toes. There are issues that are currently
affecting the company, and others are pending, meaning, they could affect the media conglomerate
both positively or negatively in the future. The Viacom Company faces the following issues;
continuous profit and sales decline amidst executive changes, troubles with charter carriage talks
and the end to internal executive disputes by the appointment of new executives.
The media conglomerate in the current years is facing troubles in stabilizing its sales and profits.
After the release of company earnings, the shares had sunk to 40%. Much of this could be
contributed to executive upheaval, with the ousting of the company CEO Philippe Dauman. The

Batman As Superheros
For many, a superhero must have certain qualities. People want a superhero that is loyal, selfless,
smart and strong. These characteristics are what many superheroes in comic books have; and in the
early twentieth century, many teen boys were turning to for guidance. Batman was created for the
kids who did not have it very easy. Batmansaw both of his parents murdered and became a
vigilante to fight off crime. Bruce Wayne changes into Batman for the better and portrays the
better qualities of a hero as opposed to Dr. Jekyll in the book, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Dr. Jekyll changes himself from a good man to an evil man.
Much like many other superheroes, Batman is the alter ego of Bruce Wayne. Some heroes may
not have an alter ego like mythological heroes. Heroes are able to have all different sorts of
characteristics; it just depends on their story. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde, Dorian
Gray has used his portrait to be eternally young and learns to see evil as beautiful (150). Unlike
Dorian, Batman is everything but selfish and risks everything for the better of man kind. Batman
will always be the superherothat kids can look up to and know is going to give everything he has
to better this world. When it comes to super human powers, that is where Batman lacks. He has no
powers to his human self that make him who he is. Batman is the alter ego of Bruce Wayne who is
a very intelligent businessman of Gotham City, this

John Singer Sargent Research Paper
John Singer Sargent, an American artist, is regarded as the greatest portrait painter of the early
1900 s. Sargent, like many prominent artists, was exposed to art at a young age. He was
encouraged by both parents, who were artist themselves, to draw. This led to his acceptance into
Г‰cole des Beaux Art School at the age of eighteen. There he was able to study under great artists
of that time and his new found love for portraits birthed his career. Sargent paintings often broke the
traditional sense of portraiture. They clearly have the influence of photography. Scenes seemed to
be cropped, such as the paintingStreet in Venice. The painting looks as if it is a freeze frame of life.

The Architecture Of Schonbrunn Palace
Introduction
Schönbrunn Palace is a political, cultural, and artistic marvel as it stands today and during the
period it was made and as it exists today. The building and all surrounding buildings are meant to
be taken in as a whole, as if it were four walls of canvases each unique and significant while still
being part of the room. Schönbrunn is seen as a Gesamtkunstwerks. It was meant to out shine
Versailles Palace in France. (5,6) From the height of the Hapsburg Empire to the present, the
Baroque style Schönbrunn Palace has provided a splendid showcase for Austria s rich cultural
tradition. It is situated on the premises of former hunting grounds, the Baroque palace,

is a precedent of Versailles its Zoo also became a precedent for future architecture. The typology
of this site is one of monarchical power, leisure hunting, and the summer home, as well as
heritage.(2, 3, 6) This paper will describe the Schönbrunn Palace and provide a historical
exploration of the cultural form. The paper will begin with, a physical description of Palace and
surrounding areas, which will explore aspects such as the structure, and decorative aspects,
Buildings and other landmarks that are a part of the overall Palace. Following the physical

Sara Teasdale s Life and Accomplishments
The work of Sara Teasdale captured the hearts of many Americans through her lyrical simplicity
and delicate craftsmanship on the major themes of love, beauty, and death. Her poetry was often
quoted, parodied, and set to music by the public. They awarded her the Columbia University
Society Prize and the PoetrySociety of America Prize in 1918 for her poem collection title Love
Songs. However, her major success as a lyrical poet proved true when her work continued to sell
posthumously. Throughout Teasdale s lyrical poetry, she depends heavily on metaphors and
personification, simple diction, and romantic imagery to produce a melancholy tone and to gain a
sympathetic response from her reader on the impossible feat of satisfying the... Show more content

His death further affected her and two years later, she committed suicide herself with an overdose
of sleeping pills.
Teasdale s success as a lyrical poet depended on her talent to convert her struggle of unifying
incompatible desires into work that her audience could relate to. Her use of metaphors, similes,
and personification enabled her to generalize her feelings so that her words would not be too
specific to her situation. Braithwaite claims, Her poems are brief, alluring and simple in
expression . . . Love is her great theme. In her poem, Like Barley Bending, Teasdale compares her
heartache to the annual crop: Like barley bending And rising again, So would I, unbroken, Rise
from pain; (5 8).
The audience is able to compare Teasdale frailty to the barley and relate to her weakness. They are
also able to relate to Teasdale s perseverance to rise from pain. Bogan describes Teasdale s use of
figurative language, Its effects are based upon a true subtle and naГЇve ear, and upon intensity
rather than complexity of emotion. She succeeds in simplifying the complexity of her emotions but
still keeping the intensity of her longing, which the audience can relate to. Teasdale s four stanza
poem, New Love and Old characterizes love as a ghost walking through the night. She personifies
the things her lover used to tell, saying they Ranged themselves reproachfully / Round

Literary Devices In The Jabberwocky And The Lorax
The two stories The Jabberwocky and The Lorax, are both similar in the sense the authors use
nonsensical words and other literary devices to enhance parts of their stories. Why do the authors
do these things and how do they affect the story. One thing the two stories have in common is the
way the word usage affects the story. In both The Jabberwockyand the Lorax, they use words to
help the reader depict what is happening. One example from the Lorax would be, I am the Lorax,
he coughed and he whiffed He sneezed and he snuffed, (Seuss ln. 10 11). In this quote he uses
words such as whiffed and snuffled to show the reader that he is having a hard time breathing. This
shows that the word usage in this story affects how the reader interprets different... Show more

In both stories they use figurative language to help the reader understand some details. One
example of this in the Lorax is when, the Lorax talks to the oncles about the waste his is making
from hsi machines. In the text it says, What s more, snapped the Lorax. (His dander was up.) Let
me say a few words about Gluppity Glup, (Seuss ln. 21 22). In this quote the author uses the
word gluppity glup. This word is an example of alliteration. This word also has kind of a dirty
and icky feel to it. This may inform the reader that this stuff is not good and that it is bad and
dirty. One example in the Jabberwocky of the author using sound devices is when the protagonist
battles the Jabberwock. In the text it states, The vorpal blade went snicker snack, (Carroll ln. 18).
This is not only an example of alliteration, but also onomatopoeia. The reader can assume that
snicker snack is the sound of the blade hitting something. This indicates that the sword is hitting the
Jabberwock and that he is probably killing it. This is how the authors use figurative language and
sound devices in their

Women s Anger Research Paper
Life is like balancing a scale, and every shift in life is a function of the display or the
demonstration of power. Power is a force that governs everything in life, and out of the many
forms of power, anger is one form often dismissed. Anger is a type of power generated from the
feeling of inequality aimed at balancing out an uneven scale the victim feels. For a long time in
history, women have been unequally treated, discriminated against, and subdued in spite of their
attempt to change the genderinequality they experience. Their actions are being characterized as
having temper tantrums, excessive rage and often times, mental instability. The angerin women,
fueled by gender inequality, is a display of their power. This paper explores the... Show more

Women s anger is considered an unjustified, futile claim that originates from an unintelligible
object who has no position or rights to be respected. Frye believes anger is an instrument that aids
in articulating one s power. However, women s anger is not viewed as a valid emotion because
women are not considered valid people, which thereby fails to convey their power. Without the
ability to declare their power and change this unequal standard, women remain demeaned and thus

Food Will Win The War Chapter 1 Summary
Ian Mosby s Food Will Win the War is a comprehensive survey of the policy and social culture
around food in Canada during the Second World War. Divided into five distinct chapters Mosby s
central argument is that food served as a catalyst for cultural unity, evolution of political policy
and definition of gender roles during the period of the war. The five chapters of FoodWill Win the
War are divided largely thematically rather than chronologically. Chapter s One and Five each
stretch back a little farther into the prewar and postwar period respectively to provide a proper
narrative on the resolution of the malnutrition crisis in Canada during this time. That said both
bookend chapters discuss the period of the war proper and also carry... Show more content on

Essentially covering the same timeline the chapters differ by covering different thematic content.
Chapter Two largely deals with the rationing and price control Canadians faced during this
period. The key aspect of the culture surrounding these policies Mosby discusses is the
remarkable popularity of these measures and the implications of that popularity on Canadian
culture and politics. The argument is made that the measures lead to an enjoyed level of equality
and unity amongst Canadians from disparate backgrounds. This idea of national unity is also
supported by the central topics of Chapter Three in which Mosby tackles the concept of the
housoldier. This is the term used to discuss the role of Canadian women in volunteer labour and
consumer practices centering around, unsurprisingly, food. This chapter is probably the closest to
what one would imagine a book entitled food will win the war would contain but Mosby heavily
incorporates social and gender history in order to present the new situation of women during the
course of the war. Similarly Chapter Four also expresses the experiences of women but does so
through different mediums. Heavily incorporating primary sources Mosby examines recipes (the
majority of which written by women) published in newspapers and cookbooks in the time period.
The blending of cultural and economic boundaries is used by to reiterate the idea of a national
unity and equality that simply did not transfer into the post war

At the least, you should have your flat roof inspected twice a year. It is recommended that these

deterioration. Most flat roofs have a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years. Of course, these numbers

Basing s Argument Analysis
Basing his work of Aristotle s, one philosopher s arrogant statement leads to a new understanding
of knowledge. Averroes argues that images are the foundation of intellect. While agree with
Averroes on how images are used to gain intellect, I disagree with him on his idea that on the
wealthy could become educated elite, because they could increase the rate of intellectual
advancement if they fund or help out the poor allowing them to become educated. First I ll be

All of Averroes work lead to the founding of Averroism
. This was a huge influence to scholars in
the 13th and 14th centuries. The scholars who supported his and Aristotle s opinions were known
as Averroists. Some of the most well known Averroists were Jewish scholar Moses of Narbonne,
and Latin scholars Boethius of Dacia and Siger of Brabant. Along with many others, they
interpreted Averroes as truth according to reason, despite confliction with some Christian truths.
In contrary, he could have improved by helping out the poor so that when they become educated
they too could progress knowledge. The reason I say this is because he thought that only the
educated elite were capable of thinking philosophically, and the educated elite were usually
wealthy because they were able to afford education. He briefly talks about how the Qur an the
most an uneducated can grasp due to its simplicity. In addition, although it was common for people

The Principles Of The Us Electoral System
In this paper, we will consider the principles of the US electoral system. We will discuss the
historical aspect of the presidential elections and respond to the following questions: Is the
election of the President of the United States a result of a direct democracy or a representative
democracy? Who was eligible to vote for the president in the 1790 s? We will also find out the
purpose of the Electoral College and discuss principles of its work.
The electoral system of the United States is based on the principle of equality of all residents of the
states and a rigid filter of the candidates (instead of the usual majority principle). In 1787, at the
Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia fathers of the nation were considering various options
of the American electoral system.
The first option is the election of the President by the Congress members. It was rejected because
this method would cause a serious disagreement between the members of the Congress and reduce
its efficiency; also it could generate intrigue and corruption in the Congress.
The second option is the election of the President by the legislatures of the states. It was rejected
because of the possible weakening of central bodies of the USA executive power.
The third option is direct election of the president of the United States by citizens. It was rejected,
because in such a case, the populous states would determine the outcome of elections, and the role
of the rest would be kept to a minimum.

Clockwork Orange Analysis
A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 crime film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on
Anthony Burgess s 1962 novel of the same name. It is a violent and disturbing film but somehow
fascinating and enjoyable at the same time. The film presents scenes of rape, physical violence and
murder because Kubrick wants to show the audience that these crimes are sickening but it s
combined with wonderful music and dance, which makes the film surreal and even funny.
Essentially it s a story focused on a British teenage, Alex DeLarge who is the leader of a 3 member
gang called droogs . Alex and his droogs spend their nights getting high on milk and then go out to
commit crimes. They carry out all sorts of crimes from rape to murder and robbery. The droogs
want to have a say in the crimes they commit but Alex asserts his authority by attacking them.
One night, things go wrong and the droogs betray Alex because they are sick of him bossing them
around. Alex gets caught by the police and is sentenced to 14 years in prison.
After two years in prison, Alex asks to be a part of an experiment; a therapy rehabilitating criminals
within two weeks but little does he know about the treatment. The treatment is essentially torture.
He is strapped to a chair, injected with drugs and forced to watch violent films with his eyes
propped open, which makes him feel sick and diseased. The government truly believed that this
treatment technique would cut down crimes.

Big Data On Oil And Gas Sector Essay
Big Data in Oil Gas Sector 1.Introduction Big Data in Oil and Gas industry is not something new.
The industry has long dealt with huge amounts of data to make critical decisions over the period
of time. For many years energy companies had invested in seismic software, data visualization
and other digital tools technologies for planning and optimization purposes. But now a day,
most of the enterprises have started craving a certain desire for better execution of E P activities.
Since the crude oil prices have gone down significantly over the past few years, which have
effectively brought down the profit margins. Also as world looks towards renewable resources
of energy, companies are supposed to act in more efficient ways they ever had. This calls in for
a digital transformation within the companies enabled by virtual integration through IT. This
will of course require a lot of data gathering and analytics over it to drive the organizations
towards success which will eventually justify investments and efforts made for it. As we know
how big E P operations are and at the scale they are carried out, there will be huge data points
involved and data gathered will eventually lead into the realm of Big Data . According to a
report from Bain Company production can be improved by up to 6 8 % with the implementation
of Big Data Analytics. But first of all let s define Big Data acutely. 2.What is Big Data? Off late

Rationalism In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
The duration of the novels, the characters are seen lamenting their pasts and longing for a future,
ready for whatever seems to be awaiting them. The journey that the pilgrims takes and the
stories they tell attempts to reconcile their purpose for the journey. At the same time they
reconcile their pasts, and not just their pasts but also the past of humanity. The underling issue
of the novel is that the characters are unable to properly grieve for their pasts and it is ultimately
recreated in an odd, intergalactic colonialism that causes a war. To begin, Pearl is a poem that is
contemporary to Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales of which this novel is loosely based on. But
Pearl is a dream vision/debate poem about a father who laments the death of his daughter. He
falls asleep and has a vision of her as a queen in heaven. They debate about rationalism, but
ultimately the debate does not have a real conclusion that comes to a satisfactory end. The
emphasis of the poem is that all things are rational through faith whether or not the individual
understands. There are multiple dialogues like this in Hyperion. The Bikura have dialogues like
this on two occasions, once after they killed Tuk and again while figuring out what to do with
DurГ© after he snuck off to the Cleft. When DurГ© aske why they killed Tuk, they gave no

Chemistry Solubility
Jacinta Houng
Comparing the Solubility of Chemicals in Water
Water is known as the universal solvent because so many different substances dissolve in it and we
rely on this for many of our daily needs.
Introduction: Water is known as the universal solvent as it is capable of dissolving a variety of
different substances and dissolves more substances than any other liquid. However the ability to be
soluble depends on a substances polarity and bonding. This then contributes to the various ways
that different types of chemicals interact in water.
Solubility is crucial to every living thing on earth as water can carry along valuable chemicals,
minerals, and nutrients necessary for survival. In fact Water covers 70% of the Earths ... Show more

However despite its name as the universal solvent there are many compounds that won t dissolve
or won t dissolve well in water. If the attraction is high between the opposite charged ions in a
compound, then the solubility will be low. For example, most hydroxides exhibit low solubility in
water.
Polar molecule: H2O
Polar molecule: H2O
Aim: To investigate and compare the solubility of household chemicals in water to demonstrate the
various ways that the different types of chemicals interact in water.
Hypothesis: Substances with stronger bonds such as ionic bonds will have a low solubility
whereas substances with weaker bonds like covalent bonds will be highly soluble. Therefore sugar
will have the highest solubility followed by citric acid and then salt.
Materials: * Citric Acid * Salt * White Sugar * 600ml of water * 1 Thermometer * 1 Stirrer * 1
tablespoon * 3 transparent cups * 1 Measuring jug * Pen * Paper
Risk Assessment: A common laboratory risk is the handling of glass items. Items such as
thermometers and glass cups carry the risk of breakage, cuts and mercury poisoning. Ways to
minimize and handle this risk include: * Inspect glassware for defects or cracks before use. * Do
not handle broken glass with bare hands. Use appropriate cut resistant gloves to handle broken
glass. * Use forceps, tongs, scoops, or other mechanical devices for removing

Literature has influenced society since its creation but history has also influenced literature since its
creation. In America, literature started with the Native Indians with their oral stories passed down
one generation at a time. The colonization of America from Europeans brought writing and new
styles of literature. But as literature evolved the purpose for it never changed. People wrote
literature in response to history to remember what they experienced and pass on how they grew
from it.
During the early American time period, native Indians would create literature to record their new

Samuel Clemens or Mark Twain was a famous realism writer. Clemens grew up in Missouri
along the Mississippi River. At the time, Missouri was a slave state and his uncle, who he spent
most of his summers with, owned many slaves. It was during this time Clemens was able to
speak and gain an understanding of what slaves went through. His feelings for slaves were made
stronger when he moved to New York for schooling, an abolitionist state ( A Life Lived in a
Rapidly Changing World ). He applied his experience into his writing, The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn. The book describes in detail the life and personality of a slave. He expresses his
views he gained on his uncle s farm about slaves through Huck Finn and how he [believed Jim]
cared just as much for his people as white folks does for their n because of how Huck had been able
to observe Jim up close just as Clemens was able to (Twain 117). The book takes place near his
childhood home on the Mississippi river and he used his personal experiences to provide a vivid
recreation of the events and scenery he experienced. By writing about the life he lived, he is able
to offer a realistic look at what he experienced during his life. The realism era brought a more real

The Life Of A Seaman During The Stuart Age
THE LIFE OF A SEAMAN DURING THE STUART AGE
Gregory Leatherman
Course Title
March 31, 2015 The Stuart Age was a tumultuous time for the men of the Navy Royal. Seamen
had to endure to austere conditions that heretofore were unknown to men in service of the
crown. The men were cut off the common life ashore for months, having to deal with cramped
quarters, disease, repetitive and salty foods, and low pay. On top of all of this sailors had to face
the danger of weather at sea and the constant threat of attack by enemy ships. This paper will
attempt to give the reader a real sense of the experience of the 17th century English sailor. I would

Once a man had signed on and come aboard, the officers were supposed to decide if the man was
an able or ordinary seaman. Able seamen were more advanced than ordinary and would be given
positions of increased responsibility. Able seamen would helm the shipor control the sails and
rigging, positions that required considerable skill. Taking the helm of a ship meant controlling the
movements of the ship. While an officer would oversee this position, the helmsman may have to
make a decision in an emergency to ensure that wind stayed in the sails. An ordinary seaman was
not one that was unskilled, many times working above the deck and learning the rigging or
manning a gun such as a musket. The pay of a navy man was decent; after 1693 ordinary seamen
were given 19 shillings per month and able seamen were given 24. This pay was about the same
as a land laborer, but was less than could be paid for service in the merchant service. Men
expected to be paid a lump sum at the end of each trip, but naval administration of the time
usually did not have the money to do so. Crews could accumulate massive running debts owed to
them by the administration, sometimes up to 3 or 4 years of pay. In such cases, families of
sailors had to use credit or charity from friends and family to afford life. Samuel Pepys noted in his
diary that this put undue stress on the sailors and their families,

(McCall) It is important to be aware of chemical reactions such as this one so a proper workout
schedule can be created to allow appropriate proportions of rest and high intensity exercise. Another
chemical that is often misunderstood is testosterone. Testosterone is responsible for muscle protein
resynthesis and the repair of muscle proteins damaged by exercise, and plays a significant role in
helping grow skeletal muscle . (McCall) For this reason, increased amounts of testosterone in the
body can lead to faster recovery times and larger muscles. Many competitive weightlifting
communities have taken advantage of this chemical release. For example, the Soviet weightlifting
team was given testosterone as part of their training . ( Weightlifting ) Another beneficial chemical
effect of exercise is the release of serotonin in the body. Some researchers suspect exercise alleviates
chronic depression by increasing serotonin (the neurotransmitter targeted by antidepressants) or
brain derived neurotrophic factor
(which supports the growth of neurons) . (Weir) It is important to become an educated member of
the active exercise community in every way focusing on the psychical aspect and on the chemical
aspect, both equally important.
Taking into account the physical and chemical affects of exercise, it is natural to look at the
psychological effects also. Exercise has been proven to have positive effects on mood. For example,

Reasons To Choose The Electoral College
The Electoral College is a body of electors who are selected by a larger group of people. The
smaller group, the electors, represent the votes for the larger group, or a state. Each state gets a
certain amount of electoral votes based on the population of the state. A candidate gets all the
electoral votes for the state if they win the majority of the popular votes for that state. There are
many reasons why the United States uses an Electoral Collegeinstead of a popular electionand how
to determine the majority.
The Constitution explains the Electoral College in Article II, Section I ( U. S. Electoral College,
Official What Is the Electoral College? ). The founding fathers established the Electoral College
instead of a popular election for President because they were afraid of democracy. They thought
one highly populated area would control the election (Miller). They worried that the citizens would
make an unfit decision, so they wanted to build a foolproof system where citizens chose people to

Members of the House and Senate meet in the House chamber to conduct the official tally of
electoral votes, done by the Vice President ( Justice Network 2016 Election Rules. ). The popular
vote simply means a total of all votes from all states in America. All the electoral votes for a state
go to the candidate who gets the majority of the popular for that one state ( Electoral Vote vs
Popular Vote. ).
As confusing as the Electoral College may seem it is not very hard to understand after reading
just a little about it. This system was created so the small states get a more equal amount of votes
and one big state cannot control all the votes. They also tried to make it easy for the electors
having them only need to meet once a year. The founding fathers believed this would be the fairest

Although other states such as Indiana lay claim to his birth, most sources agree that Abraham
Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a backwoods cabin in Hodgeville, Kentucky. In an

Baba Joon Essay
Baba Joon is the newly released movie by writer/director Yuval Delshad. With a film career that
grew from the documentary world, this is his first feature. Never one to shy from reality,
Delshad turned to a subject that spoke to his heart; the father/son relationship. To create
authenticity, the movie is filmed in the dusty village where Delshad grew up and the actors
speak a blend of Hebrew and Farsi, just like it was in the 1980 s of his childhood. Delshad loves
the fact that life imitates art, My baby, Yitamar, was conceived during the start of photography
and he is already trying to crawl! Baba Joon centers on the conflict of a traditional father,
Yitzhak, whose life has been hard and demanding, and his gently defiant son who, as a pre teen,
is refusing to learn how to farm turkeys. The mother understands that their son, Moti, has no
passion for the family livelihood but Yitzhak takes the decision badly. And thus ends the hopes
of all good dreams; the father s desire to pass on his father s business is doomed by his son s
utter disinterest. Here is a kid who has no love of turkeys, no desire to learn the trade and no
appreciation of the art of poultry manufacture. More painful is the perceived lack of respect that
the father senses in Moti s lack of interest. This is the farm that his father built with sweat labor and

Introduction to Forensic Investigations
Locard s Exchange Principle and the use of Fingerprints: Edmond Locard (1877 1966) was a
French scientist specialised in both medicine and law. Inspired by the work of Hans Gross, it
was Edmond that created the concept that all objects of any material should leave traces of itself
upon whatever it touches, even if it is the minutest amount, simply put as Every Contact leaves a
trace, Locard (1923). This is commonly known as Locard s Exchange Principle. He believed that
in circumstances such as a crime, his principle could be used to find evidence of who and perhaps
even how that crime was committed by finding small materials, either physical or chemical at the
scene of the crime that would directly link back to the offender.... Show more content on

Even when they get packed away in boxes they could chip on the handle. Everything can affect
an objects uniquness. If a window is pryed open to gain entry to building, the screwdriver used
to pry it open will share different properties to every other. By studying the `striation` marks on a
window, we will clearly be able to see that there are a certain number of grooves that make the
mark. By comparing this to the screwdriver that was found in a suspects house, this could show
that this was the screwdriver was used in the offence. This could then be used as evidence in
court to prosecute the said suspect. Individualisation is pretty much based upon inductive
reasoning; which is used a lot in Forensic Investigations. By saying we have never seen two
screwdrivers the same leads us to believe that there are no two screwdrivers in the world. The
same refers to the uniqueness of fingerprints, a pair has never been found; but if a pair was ever
to be found, this would mean the entire theory of individualisation would fall apart. Referring
back to Popper s work on falsifiability, is it possible to prove that this theory can be wrong? In order
to do so you would have to check every single item of that class ever made in great detail. This is
too much to check on and so there is no way we can prove this test to be false. Paul Leland Kirk
believed that individualisation was a key idea in Forensic Investigations and stated that

Poetry Analysis Of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Poetry Analysis of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow produced many works of poetry in his lifetime, many which
dealt with American folklore and colonial New England. This is how Longfellow s extended
knowledge of the history of his homeland, and his history allows him to write his informative,
and influential poems such as Paul Revere s Ride , which some critics considered very basic in
its wordage and had a loose voice. As a writer for just under half his life, Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow chose to write about American folklore, as well as Native American folklore and
folklore of the countries he travelled to, that was influential to his readers and American citizens
alike. He was born in Portland, Maine on February 27, 1807, the second son of seven siblings,
he was attending school at three with his older brother, and by age six he knew Latin, and could
read, spell, and multiply. He started college at age 14 and graduated at age 19, ranking fourth in
a class of 38 students. Soon after he became a professor at Bowdoin only to leave 8 years later, to
teach at Harvard, which he would leave after 18 years of teaching to write full time. One of the
great pieces that he composed roughly 20 years prior to his death was the collection of stories he
named Tales of a Wayside Inn, which contained a poem called Paul Revere s Ride , which was
one of the first tales of Paul Revere s ride. Logically, it can be inferred with the information
previously stated that Longfellow was a large influence in ideas of American Folklore and as a
teacher of unknown American history through his works. This means that through his simplistic
and accurate poems he added, changed, and/or influenced the views of American history of those
who read his poem, in his time and the present. His influence on the American people s view of
historical events, and his teachings of said American history can be seen in many of his works
such as Paul Revere s Ride. It is in this poem, though that Longfellow s view on historical teachings
through the use of poetry which also influenced American ideas on specific topics such as the start
of the American Revolution. The battle of Lexington and Concord, otherwise known as the shots

Commission (EEOC) also increased by over 8,000 during those same years (Tauro, 2014, p. 256).

Mrs. Baker has knowledge that the top managers has made comments that suggest
discrimination based on age, but if she does not have records of those statements then it is really
just hear say and will not hold up in the court of law. In the court case of Gross v. FBL Financial
Services (2009), the court ruled in favor of Gross but then the ruling was overturned because the
plaintiff could not provide sufficient evidence that he was demoted because of just his age
(Meng, 2010). The judge stated that in order for the ruling to be in favor of the plaintiff, in an
ADEA discrimination claim, the employee must provide that his/ her age was the main reason (the
but for cause) for the employers reasoning behind the demotion or firing (Bible Sanders, 2009).
When this ruling is applied to the scenario, Mrs. Baker must have strong evident that the main
reason behind her termination was her age in order for the court to rule in favor of

`` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Manfred E. Clynes And Nathan...
The cyborg figure is a common fixture in both science and science fiction. The term, coined by
Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960, refers to an organism with enhanced functionality
due to the incorporation of a mechanical component (Clynes and Kline, 27). The animal machine
hybrid was a figuration and embodiment of the modern era s lust for technology as a means of
pushing the human towards what was often militaristic and capitalist ideals. However, in her
groundbreaking essay A Cyborg Manifesto , Donna Harawayappropriates the patriarchal cyborg
figure for feminist purposes, drawing on its composited ontology as a model for female liberation.
Her essay posits a psychological escape from the dualisms that hamper the female sense of self,
through its account of boundary breakdowns and its rejection of totalized identity. This
psychological escape becomes active politically when applied to challenge the authority of the
physical acts of oppression where these dualisms often manifest. However, the manifesto s inability
to entirely account for cultural differentialism within feminismcauses it to fall somewhat under
Haraway s goal of promoting the particular female self.
First published in 1985 as part of The Socialist Review and later updated in 1991 as part of her
anthology of essays Simians, Cyborgs, and Women (the latter of which will be the version
analyzed), Donna Haraway s A Cyborg Manifesto constructs a feminist call to action by situating a
myth of the

August Wilson Fences
Sometimes you have to pick the gun up to put the gun down. This quote was said by Malcolm X,
who was an African American Minister and a human rights activist. It means that sometimes you
have to fight in order to achieve peace. I agree with what he said because in order to get what you
want you have to fight for it. Two literary works that reflect this quote are Fences, a play about the
struggles of African American before and during the Civil Rights Era in the 1950s and 60s, by
August Wilson and The Yellow Wallpaper a short story that shows the difference between women
and men during that time, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Fences shows the revolution the characters
face, their actions and what is the result of those choices.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of acknowledgment in the play Fences between Troy and Cory cause their relationship
to decline even further. One of the greatest sources of disappointment in Troy s life is the fact
that he wasn t allowed to play pro baseball, Even though he used to hit homeruns in the Negro
Leagues, he couldn t go to the majors because of racial discrimination. He doesn t let Cory play
football, because he doesn t want Cory to feel what he felt during his time. Troy s lack of
acknowledgment of Cory s potential destroys Cory s dream by not signing the papers and not
letting the college recruiter from coming. I got sense enough not to let my boy get hurt playing
no sports (Wilson 39) He unconsciously stats that he doesn t want Cory to feel how he felt
during his time. This quote references flashback because in this quote Troy refers back to what
had happened to him during his athletic career, and how it affected his life. In this quote he
speaks like a father who is making decisions for his son and his future, even though the people
around him is telling him that the time has changed and it is not like before. Troy s lack of
acknowledgment causes Cory to lose his dream and late Cory to leave the house.
In the play Fences, Troy s demand for change caused him to revolt against the company. Even after
the abolishment of slavery the blacks were not treated equally nor had any

Descriptive Essay About Capitola
The town of Capitola is a small city in Santa Cruz, California on the coast of Monterey Bay. The
town itself consists of the downtown, the neighborhoods, and most importantly the beach! The
town of Capitola only has a population of 10, 180 people (2016), but it is a perfect place to go
for a vacation. Capitola is one of my favorite places to go. I love the small, colorful town and the
beach is calm and relaxing. In Capitola, there are many things to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste.
You can use your five senses for everything around you!
Sight
There is a lot to see in Capitola, CA! Beaches, Sand, and People are all things you can see around
you, but there is also much much MUCH more to see! As you look around the town, you can see
some things that you may see in other places such as restaurants, people, cars, and bikes. But
there are also things in the town that are unique to only Capitola. This includes some of my
favorite buildings in Capitola. There are about 21 buildings all in a row, with some up top and
others below. What I like about these buildings is that they are very colorful. Every one of the
buildings is a different color. These colors include: Orange, Red, Dark Orange, Yellow, Sky Blue,
Lime Green, Bright Pink, Dark Blue, and Teal. Another cool thing about these buildings is that
there is a small lagoon of water right in front of the buildings, which adds to what the houses look
like when you look at them from afar.
In Capitola not only do you see the

Macro Sociology
Sociologists analyze different levels of society from various perspectives. Due to Micro and Macro
sociology we can look at the world from a smaller and larger scope. We zoom in on ourselves and
then place the focus in broader context. Theories are like cameras there is such a wide collection
with so many filters based on our preferences, which is why we should consider them all. Sociology
has manifested itself into three distinct forms those being conflict, structural functionalist, and
interactionist theories. For any beginner student it is easier to regard the function of these theories
behaving like a tricycle. We need to include them all in order to move forward with our overall
understanding of societal development. Karl Marx, one of the most studied sociologists (at least in
high school), coined the idea of conflict theory. This concept specifically considered the economic
aspects of society. It contradicted August Comte s previous century ideas of natural laws to social
sciences. Marx believed that social change is fueled by the economy. He wrote the Communist
Manifesto... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society works like that of an organism. Herbert Spencer theorized that each person provides a role
to its survival. His views are clearly different compared to conflict theory since he examined the
stability and interrelated parts of society. Spencer defined the main organs as social institutions that
prioritized certain needs such as education, healthcare, religion, and government. This can be
studied on a local or nationally known level. Emile Durkheim, Alfred Radcliffe Brown, and Robert
Merton furthered their study of functioning continuity in society. All parts of society essentially the
laws and policies must work together to preserve a dynamic equilibrium. Dysfunctions reduce
solidity which makes critics assume that structural functionalism cannot measure social change

APC 309 Strategic Management Accounting Module Title: Strategic Management Accounting Module Code: APC309 Individual assignment SUNDERLAND BUSINESS SCHOOL Date: 16/04/2011 Introduction: As Gowthope (2005, p.148) said that: A budget is a plan, expressed in financial and/or more general quantitative terms, which extends forward for a period into the future. Budgets are widely used in organisations of all types and sizes. Budgeting actually refers to the process that, after the strategic plan of the business has been made, companies made a short term plan (usually one year) to meet the strategic purpose. Traditional Budgeting Approach (TBA): There are various methods to prepare a budget. Here we are concerned with the traditional approach to budgeting known also as the incremental budgeting which involves basing next year‟s budget on the current year‟s results plus an extra amount for estimated growth or inflation (APC309 Workbook, 2008). It is claimed that in many organisations the traditional budgeting remains widespread, and that 99% of European and US companies are using budgets and have no intention of abandoning them, it was also stated that over 60% of those companies claim that they are not highly satisfied with their current budgeting systems and are continuously trying to improve the budgeting process to meet the demands set for management in creating sustainable value (report: Better Budgeting, 2004, p.2 3). From this perspective it is obvious that traditional budgeting approach and budgets in general hold many benefits as well as problems. Implementing TBA on a static market: When implemented within businesses, such technique will be more suitable for firms where each year‟s performance and activities are similar to the previous one and conditions are predictable, an active market that can take up large sales which do not change much in relation with changes ... The five chapters of FoodWill Win the War are divided largely thematically rather than chronologically. The argument is made that the measures lead to an enjoyed level of equality and unity amongst Canadians from disparate backgrounds. This idea of national unity is also supported by the central topics of Chapter Three in which Mosby tackles the concept of the housoldier. This is the term used to discuss the role of Canadian women in volunteer labour and consumer practices centering around, unsurprisingly, food. This chapter is probably the closest to what one would imagine a book entitled food will win the war would contain but Mosby heavily incorporates social and gender history in order to present the new situation of women during the course of the war. Similarly Chapter Four also expresses the experiences of women but does so through different mediums. Heavily incorporating primary sources Mosby examines recipes (the majority of which written by women) published in newspapers and cookbooks in the time period. We will discuss the historical aspect of the presidential elections and respond to the following questions: Is the election of the President of the United States a result of a direct democracy or a representative democracy? Who was eligible to vote for the president in the 1790 s? We will also find out the purpose of the Electoral College and discuss principles of its work. The electoral system of the United States is based on the principle of equality of all residents of the states and a rigid filter of the candidates (instead of the usual majority principle). In 1787, at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia fathers of the nation were considering various options of the American electoral system. The first option is the election of the President by the Congress members. It was rejected because this method would cause a serious disagreement between the members of the Congress and reduce its efficiency; also it could generate intrigue and corruption in the Congress. The second option is the election of the President by the legislatures of the states. It was rejected because of the possible weakening of central bodies of the USA executive power. The third option is direct election of the president of the United States by citizens. It was rejected, because in such a case, the populous states would determine the outcome of elections, and the role of the rest would be kept to a minimum. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a violent and disturbing film but somehow fascinating and enjoyable at the same time. The film presents scenes of rape, physical violence and murder because Kubrick wants to show the audience that these crimes are sickening but it s combined with wonderful music and dance, which makes the film surreal and even funny. Essentially it s a story focused on a British teenage, Alex DeLarge who is the leader of a 3 member gang called droogs . Alex and his droogs spend their nights getting high on milk and then go out to commit crimes. They carry out all sorts of crimes from rape to murder and robbery. The droogs want to have a say in the crimes they commit but Alex asserts his authority by attacking them. One night, things go wrong and the droogs betray Alex because they are sick of him bossing them around. Alex gets caught by the police and is sentenced to 14 years in prison. After two years in prison, Alex asks to be a part of an experiment; a therapy rehabilitating criminals within two weeks but little does he know about the treatment. The treatment is essentially torture. He is strapped to a chair, injected with drugs and forced to watch violent films with his eyes propped open, which makes him feel sick and diseased. The government truly believed that this treatment technique would cut down crimes. At the end of two weeks, the treatment is over and the Minister wants to prove people that Alex is now cured. He gathers people to put Alex through a test and Alex is unable to fight against the attacks and feels sick when he sees a naked woman. For that reason, Alex is out as a free man and things get worse outside. The film is a protest against mind manipulations and political problems as well as social problems. • 22. Big Data On Oil And Gas Sector Essay Big Data in Oil Gas Sector 1.Introduction Big Data in Oil and Gas industry is not something new. The industry has long dealt with huge amounts of data to make critical decisions over the period of time. For many years energy companies had invested in seismic software, data visualization and other digital tools technologies for planning and optimization purposes. But now a day, most of the enterprises have started craving a certain desire for better execution of E P activities. Since the crude oil prices have gone down significantly over the past few years, which have effectively brought down the profit margins. Also as world looks towards renewable resources of energy, companies are supposed to act in more efficient ways they ever had. This calls in for a digital transformation within the companies enabled by virtual integration through IT. • 23. Rationalism In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales The duration of the novels, the characters are seen lamenting their pasts and longing for a future, ready for whatever seems to be awaiting them. The journey that the pilgrims takes and the stories they tell attempts to reconcile their purpose for the journey. At the same time they reconcile their pasts, and not just their pasts but also the past of humanity. The underling issue of the novel is that the characters are unable to properly grieve for their pasts and it is ultimately recreated in an odd, intergalactic colonialism that causes a war. To begin, Pearl is a poem that is contemporary to Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales of which this novel is loosely based on. But Pearl is a dream vision/debate poem about a father who laments the death of his daughter. He falls asleep and has a vision of her as a queen in heaven. They debate about rationalism, but ultimately the debate does not have a real conclusion that comes to a satisfactory end. The emphasis of the poem is that all things are rational through faith whether or not the individual understands. There are multiple dialogues like this in Hyperion. The Bikura have dialogues like this on two occasions, once after they killed Tuk and again while figuring out what to do with DurГ© after he snuck off to the Cleft. When DurГ© aske why they killed Tuk, they gave no specific answer Your companion died the true death. You did not. [...] Why not? Why didn t you kill me? Chemistry Solubility Jacinta Houng Comparing the Solubility of Chemicals in Water Water is known as the universal solvent because so many different substances dissolve in it and we rely on this for many of our daily needs. Introduction: Water is known as the universal solvent as it is capable of dissolving a variety of different substances and dissolves more substances than any other liquid. However the ability to be soluble depends on a substances polarity and bonding. This then contributes to the various ways that different types of chemicals interact in water. Solubility is crucial to every living thing on earth as water can carry along valuable chemicals, minerals, and nutrients necessary for survival. In fact Water covers 70% of the Earths ... If the attraction is high between the opposite charged ions in a compound, then the solubility will be low. For example, most hydroxides exhibit low solubility in water. Polar molecule: H2O Polar molecule: H2O Aim: To investigate and compare the solubility of household chemicals in water to demonstrate the various ways that the different types of chemicals interact in water. Hypothesis: Substances with stronger bonds such as ionic bonds will have a low solubility whereas substances with weaker bonds like covalent bonds will be highly soluble. Therefore sugar will have the highest solubility followed by citric acid and then salt. Able seamen were more advanced than ordinary and would be given positions of increased responsibility. Able seamen would helm the shipor control the sails and rigging, positions that required considerable skill. Taking the helm of a ship meant controlling the movements of the ship. While an officer would oversee this position, the helmsman may have to make a decision in an emergency to ensure that wind stayed in the sails. An ordinary seaman was not one that was unskilled, many times working above the deck and learning the rigging or manning a gun such as a musket. The pay of a navy man was decent; after 1693 ordinary seamen were given 19 shillings per month and able seamen were given 24. This pay was about the same as a land laborer, but was less than could be paid for service in the merchant service. Men expected to be paid a lump sum at the end of each trip, but naval administration of the time usually did not have the money to do so. Crews could accumulate massive running debts owed to them by the administration, sometimes up to 3 or 4 years of pay. This is commonly known as Locard s Exchange Principle. By comparing this to the screwdriver that was found in a suspects house, this could show that this was the screwdriver was used in the offence. Poetry Analysis Of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Poetry Analysis of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Henry Wadsworth Longfellow produced many works of poetry in his lifetime, many which dealt with American folklore and colonial New England. This is how Longfellow s extended knowledge of the history of his homeland, and his history allows him to write his informative, and influential poems such as Paul Revere s Ride , which some critics considered very basic in its wordage and had a loose voice. As a writer for just under half his life, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow chose to write about American folklore, as well as Native American folklore and folklore of the countries he travelled to, that was influential to his readers and American citizens alike. He was born in Portland, Maine on February 27, 1807, the second son of seven siblings, he was attending school at three with his older brother, and by age six he knew Latin, and could read, spell, and multiply. Soon after he became a professor at Bowdoin only to leave 8 years later, to teach at Harvard, which he would leave after 18 years of teaching to write full time. • 41. `` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Manfred E. Clynes And Nathan... The cyborg figure is a common fixture in both science and science fiction. The term, coined by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960, refers to an organism with enhanced functionality due to the incorporation of a mechanical component (Clynes and Kline, 27). The animal machine hybrid was a figuration and embodiment of the modern era s lust for technology as a means of pushing the human towards what was often militaristic and capitalist ideals. However, in her groundbreaking essay A Cyborg Manifesto , Donna Harawayappropriates the patriarchal cyborg figure for feminist purposes, drawing on its composited ontology as a model for female liberation. Her essay posits a psychological escape from the dualisms that hamper the female sense of self, through its account of boundary breakdowns and its rejection of totalized identity. This psychological escape becomes active politically when applied to challenge the authority of the physical acts of oppression where these dualisms often manifest. However, the manifesto s inability to entirely account for cultural differentialism within feminismcauses it to fall somewhat under Haraway s goal of promoting the particular female self. First published in 1985 as part of The Socialist Review and later updated in 1991 as part of her anthology of essays Simians, Cyborgs, and Women (the latter of which will be the version analyzed), Donna Haraway s A Cyborg Manifesto constructs a feminist call to action by situating a myth of the ... It means that sometimes you have to fight in order to achieve peace. I agree with what he said because in order to get what you want you have to fight for it. Two literary works that reflect this quote are Fences, a play about the struggles of African American before and during the Civil Rights Era in the 1950s and 60s, by August Wilson and The Yellow Wallpaper a short story that shows the difference between women and men during that time, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Fences shows the revolution the characters face, their actions and what is the result of those choices.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the greatest sources of disappointment in Troy s life is the fact that he wasn t allowed to play pro baseball, Even though he used to hit homeruns in the Negro Leagues, he couldn t go to the majors because of racial discrimination. He doesn t let Cory play football, because he doesn t want Cory to feel what he felt during his time. Troy s lack of acknowledgment of Cory s potential destroys Cory s dream by not signing the papers and not letting the college recruiter from coming. I got sense enough not to let my boy get hurt playing no sports (Wilson 39) He unconsciously stats that he doesn t want Cory to feel how he felt during his time. This quote references flashback because in this quote Troy refers back to what had happened to him during his athletic career, and how it affected his life. In this quote he speaks like a father who is making decisions for his son and his future, even though the people around him is telling him that the time has changed and it is not like before. Troy s lack of acknowledgment causes Cory to lose his dream and late Cory to leave the house. In the play Fences, Troy s demand for change caused him to revolt against the company. Even after the abolishment of slavery the blacks were not treated equally nor had any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The town itself consists of the downtown, the neighborhoods, and most importantly the beach! Sight There is a lot to see in Capitola, CA! Beaches, Sand, and People are all things you can see around you, but there is also much much MUCH more to see! As you look around the town, you can see some things that you may see in other places such as restaurants, people, cars, and bikes. But there are also things in the town that are unique to only Capitola. This includes some of my favorite buildings in Capitola. There are about 21 buildings all in a row, with some up top and others below. What I like about these buildings is that they are very colorful. Every one of the buildings is a different color. These colors include: Orange, Red, Dark Orange, Yellow, Sky Blue, Lime Green, Bright Pink, Dark Blue, and Teal. Another cool thing about these buildings is that there is a small lagoon of water right in front of the buildings, which adds to what the houses look like when you look at them from afar. In Capitola not only do you see the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Macro Sociology Sociologists analyze different levels of society from various perspectives. Due to Micro and Macro sociology we can look at the world from a smaller and larger scope. We zoom in on ourselves and then place the focus in broader context. Theories are like cameras there is such a wide collection with so many filters based on our preferences, which is why we should consider them all. Sociology has manifested itself into three distinct forms those being conflict, structural functionalist, and interactionist theories. For any beginner student it is easier to regard the function of these theories behaving like a tricycle. We need to include them all in order to move forward with our overall understanding of societal development. Karl Marx, one of the most studied sociologists (at least in high school), coined the idea of conflict theory. This concept specifically considered the economic aspects of society. It contradicted August Comte s previous century ideas of natural laws to social sciences. Marx believed that social change is fueled by the economy. He wrote the Communist Manifesto... His views are clearly different compared to conflict theory since he examined the stability and interrelated parts of society. Spencer defined the main organs as social institutions that prioritized certain needs such as education, healthcare, religion, and government. This can be studied on a local or nationally known level. Emile Durkheim, Alfred Radcliffe Brown, and Robert Merton furthered their study of functioning continuity in society. All parts of society essentially the laws and policies must work together to preserve a dynamic equilibrium. Dysfunctions reduce solidity which makes critics assume that structural functionalism cannot measure social change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
