2. Treatment
Sixth Form
Within our advert there will be two Ringwood Sixth Form students
reminiscing about the open day last year. They go onto to talk about how it
helped them make a decision about their future.
The advert will be approximately 30 seconds
Our target audience will be year 10s and 11s. We believe when you get to this
age, it’s the children who choose their future options, so our advert is centred
around them.
3. Treatment
Ringwood School
We decided to take a different approach with this advert. We felt that choice
of secondary school is mainly down to the parent due to the young age of the
students.
Because of this our advert cuts to a family having a chat about going to
Ringwood around the dinner table with the child and parent both agreeing
on going to the open evening.
The target audience were year 5 & 6 parents with the students being
secondary audience.
4. Treatment
Location/Budget
We did some research of where to record this and found that the a professional
studio in Bournemouth would cost £40 per hour which we would use for about
two hours.
However, here at Ringwood, we have our own radio stations which we could
use free of charge.
We decided to use the RSR for this reason.
Our actors will be close friends at our school who would do this free of charge
also.
5. Budget
We did some research and found out for a 30 second time slot on a
radio station, it would cost £2 per thousand listeners. We would
preferably have our advertisement at 8 am during the school run. This
should cost around £500 on a local station.
We will be spending the remainder of the money on hiring out a studio
to record our advert if the RSR room is not available. Also the money
will be spent on paying our actors.
8. Equipment/Actors
We are not going to be needing a lot of equipment for our
advertisements.
We will use the microphone and the Mixing deck in the RSR to help get
the optimum audio quality for our ad.
For the Sixth Form advert we will be using two current Sixth form students,
Tom Cutler and James Pugh they have agreed to be our actors so the
audience can connect with them.
For the Year 7 advert we will be using a current year 6 who has agreed to
star in our advert alongside a mum, so the audience can relate to the
advert.
10. Recce and Risk Assessment
The location of the studio being used is
Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood, Hampshire,
BH24 1SE. Upstairs in the geography block.
This location has been chosen due to it having all
the equipment necessary to provide the radio
station with a radio advertisement that will be
suitable for the requirements and target audience.
The equipment will also provide my advert with a
high quality sound.
We will have to ask Mr Drummond or Miss Jones
for permission to use RSR.
12. Contingency Plan
If we could not use the RSR recording studio then we would hire out a
studio in Bournemouth at a place called Absolute music for 2 hours which
would be £80 (£40 per hour). This would come out of our budget.
If we couldn’t use the actors for the sixth form advert we have back up
actors who are Eren Celik and Jamie Hamer who have agreed that they can
be back up actors.
If we couldn’t use the actors for the normal school advert we could use a
friend of the actor we are already using and we could ask a female teacher
to play the voice of the mum.
13. Code of Conduct
Within our ads we will make sure that there are not any expletives in our
script or said by an of the actors. If this were to happen OFCOM would not
allow for use to broadcast, particularly before watershed.
We will not defame any other organisations or competitive schools within
our ad (libel).
Our music is also copyright free to avoid any action from OFCOM or the
ASA.
14. Why Us?
We feel that going with Moonlight Studios would be the obvious decision.
This is because of our intense promotion of this great school and sixth
form, which we are sure that no one else has done.
