2. Treatment
For the two adverts we will have a £2000 budget, £1000 for each advert so that the quality of each advert is
equally as good.
Each advert will run for around 30 seconds which is a good amount of time as it will allow us to get across
all the points that we want to make and it won’t be that costly and should fit inside our £2000 budget.
The target audience for the School advert will be Year 6 students and their parents, their parents will likely
have more of a say in where their children go as they will have to arrange things like transport too and from
school and therefore will not only pick a school that has a good reputation but also is convenient for them.
The target audience for the Sixth form advert will be Year 11 students and their parents, more so the Year
11 students because they have more of a say about where they go to College because they are deciding
their future and therefore will want to go to a high achieving sixth form so that their chances of success as
a high as possible.
The adverts will appeal to the target audience as they will include things such as Ringwood's Outstanding
grades in previous years, the large array of after school clubs the establishment offers and the high ratings
OFSTED has given the Sixth form and School in previous years.
Our recording locations are the RSR studio as it is easily accessible and free for us to use and our other
location would be recording our advert at a professional studio that will have better equipment than RSR
studio but will cost us money to use it.
Cost: The cost of us recording the advert at school would be free as we wouldn’t have to pay to use the RSR
studio whereas if we wanted to record it at a studio it would cost around £40 to use the studio at Absolute
studios in Bournemouth for a 1 hour session that would be more than enough time record our 2 adverts. And
to have the adverts on the radio will cost between £250-£1000 depending on the time of day we decide to
air our advert.
8. Equipment and Actors we will use:
Equipment: We would need to use either the recording equipment in the RSR
studio or the Absolute studios equipment to record our advert, some of the
equipment that we will need would include:
Microphones- such as the Shure SM57 which is good for recording peoples
voices and we could borrow one from the music block, Microphone stands,
Cables for the microphone and recording software that we can link the
microphones to, from there we would be able to edit the audio on Cubase and
apply the background music of our choice to our adverts.
Actors that we would use would be James and Jamie from our group to record
our adverts.
9. Contingency plan
The primary option is to use the RSR studio as it will be free for us to use and
wont add to our overall costs however if we are unable to use the RSR studio
due to timings and availability then we can spend £40 for an hour recording
session at the absolute studios in Bournemouth. We will have between 10am-
6pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday to record there. The address
for Absolute being: 3-5, Knighton Heath Industrial Estate, 855, Ringwood Rd,
Bournemouth BH11 8NE
10. Legal and ethical issues
Copyright: We will have to make sure not to use any copyright material in our advert, this
means we have to use copyright free music for our advert as if we use copyright protected
music the company that owns it can sue us.
Offensive language: We cannot include any language that offends people in our advert as it
would damage the reputation of our advert and we would face a lot of complaints from the
public as we are looking at advertising on Capital FM which has a lot of younger viewers who
shouldn’t have to listen to offensive language.
Discrimination: In our advert we cannot include any discriminating things such as treating
people differently based on their Gender, Age, Sexuality, Race and based on any views that
they have.
And finally we cannot exploit or wrongfully treat children in our advert as it could offend
listeners of our advert and would be inappropriate for our audience.
We have to follow these Legal and Ethical guidelines so that we don’t anger or disturb our
audience as in doing this we could damage the reputation of our campaign and therefore we
would get less people being interested in coming to this school/sixth form.
11. Summary
We believe as Pure Productions, that we have aimed our adverts at the
correct target audience and this will hopefully attract more people to come
and join Ringwood School and the sixth form. We also feel that our campaign
will relate to those interested in coming to the open evenings. We hope you
enjoyed our presentation and we would like to welcome any questions.
