Though one is a novel and the other is a short poem, the two pieces of writing can be
thoroughly analyzed on their perspectives and themes to highlight important aspects
in each.
The stories contain a similar animal theme and both question God, yet they differ in
their views on God.
A similar aspect in the two stories is the animal theme.
When Pi is trapped on a lifeboat, his only company is a Bengal Tiger. It was in this
circumstance that Pi understood the animal need for survival. Pi says of his
transformation from a strict vegetarian into someone who expected to kill to
survive, that, I descended to a level of savagery I never imagined possible. (218).
Everyday, Pi felt like he was at a crucial point in his life, since he didn t know
whether he would live to see tomorrow, especially with Richard Parker on the

battle for survival.
In the poem The Tyger, the animal theme is exhibited through the narrator s

My investigation focus was to analyse the community pattern within the Rocky
Shore Siren s Rock . I investigated the distribution of the Red Sea Anemone (Actinia
tenebrosa) and the Grey side gilled Sea Slug (Pleurobranchaea maculata) on the

He became very isolated from everyone. He had little movement and little speech and

Jack had many delusions in the thick of his mental breakdown. One in particular

honest, there has been many debates about one theory that Steven D. Levitt used to
explain why the crime rate dropped in the 1990 s. That theory is that the Supreme
Court case of Roe V Wade, which legalized abortion in all fifty states. Steven Levitt
stated in Freakonomics that the legalization of abortion had the biggest percentage
of why the crime rate went down. Yet, I would like to question this theory myself.

differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those
differences. Every race, group of people, and individuals have differences that can
dominate over their similarities. Rather than pointing out the differences, they should
be accepted and encouraged, at least this is what many thought during the time of
racism. Booker Taliaferro Washington was a very dominant figure in the African
American community. He was an educator, author, public speaker, and an advisor. In
contrast, William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was a historian, civil rights activist,
sociologist, author, writer, and editor. He worked with movements to strengthen
bonds between those with African backgrounds, under the belief of unity. Both
Washington and Du Bois were very active in the issues of racism against African
Americans during the 1900 s. Booker T. Washington and W. E. B. Du Boisstrongly
wanted change in how the black race were treated by the white race, however they
had very different points of view in which Washington thought that accommodation
was key, whereas Du Bois thought resistance would work best.
Many times, the background of a person can intensely influence their point of view.
In relation to the two important civil rights figures, their backgrounds have a great
affect on their plans for the future of African Americans. Booker T. Washington was
born a slave on a farm in Washington in 1856. Being a slave, he was unfortunately
able to see all of the devastating violence and inequality behind the scenes. Booker
T. knew the kind of control the whites had over everyone else, along with knowing
how far of measures they would go in relation to harm and suffering. Because of this,
he supported and influenced a peaceful way of ending the issue. He wanted others to
temporarily accept the inconvenience, and wait for change overtime. Washington
once said, If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else. He had confidence that
