Essay Health
Crafting an essay on the subject of health can be both challenging and intricate. The complexity
arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, encompassing various dimensions such as
physical, mental, and social well-being. As a writer, delving into the vast realm of health requires
a comprehensive understanding of not only medical aspects but also psychological and
sociological factors that contribute to overall wellness.
One of the primary challenges lies in striking the right balance between scientific rigor and
accessibility. Health-related essays often demand accurate information and research to
substantiate claims, making it essential to navigate through a plethora of medical literature.
Synthesizing this information in a way that is easily comprehensible for a diverse audience can
be a daunting task.
Moreover, health is a dynamic and evolving field. Keeping abreast of the latest research findings,
medical breakthroughs, and societal shifts in attitudes toward health is crucial. This constant
influx of information necessitates a continuous effort to stay updated, adding an extra layer of
difficulty to the writing process.
Another hurdle is the ethical dimension of health discussions. Addressing sensitive topics,
respecting diverse perspectives, and avoiding misinformation require a nuanced approach.
Balancing the presentation of facts with empathy and cultural sensitivity becomes imperative to
ensure the essay is informative without being alienating.
Furthermore, the task involves weaving together a cohesive narrative that seamlessly transitions
between different aspects of health. Juggling between topics like nutrition, mental health,
healthcare policies, and lifestyle factors while maintaining a logical flow can be challenging.
In conclusion, writing an essay on health demands not only a sound understanding of medical
concepts but also an ability to communicate complex ideas in a manner accessible to a diverse
audience. It requires continuous learning, ethical considerations, and adept narrative skills to
create a compelling and informative piece. For those seeking assistance, similar essays and more

The purpose for President John F. Kennedy s putting a man into space and
developing a national space organization was national prestige (Compton). Russian
had already taken leaps ahead of us in the exploration of space by the successful

Literary Analysis Of Absalom And Achiophel By John
Dryden
Absalom and Achiophel : the wondrous satirical poem written by John Dryden
himself which features the many different ways of inviting humorous and satirical
aspects of the Popish plot to light. George Villiers, the second duke of Buckingham,
was no exception for Dryden. So much so that the footnotes of the couplets involving
George even states that the section on George was The least political of the satirical
portraits in the poem (Noggle, 2226). Claiming that George Villiers, in Dryden s eyes,
was not fit to be a leader in the Popish plotwas an extreme understatement as he
painted an overwhelmingly satirical image of how George was not only incapable
of making an impact in the Popish plot, but is upright a fool to society. Dryden, in
the process of painting this satirical imagery, also uses George as an example of
showing consequentialism in action.
In Absalom and AchitophelDryden begins with writing how George Villier only
positive credential of being part of the popish plot is that he comes from his
royalty in Buckingham as his other credentials lack in uniqueness when compared
to the other members of society. He eludes that George Villier became a chief of
the Popish plot because he was one of the princes of the land (543). Ironically,
however, this is followed up by Dryden describing him as A man so various, that he
seemed to be / Not one, but all mankind s epitome (545 546). Claiming him to be a
chief in this context is ironic in the sense that he

other things of their city s metaphoric significance in this case the reflection of their
elevated, adventurous spirit (Keeley 37).
As Cavafy spent more time in the city and matured there, he came to see the beauty

Adel and Tommy are separated by death while Sarah and Ibrahim are separated by

suspense, thriller and is intended for older audiences (PG 13). Jaws main characters
are: Broody (Police Chief) played by actor Roy Scheider, Quint (Fisherman) played

After finding evidence of a shark attack Chief Brody intends to close the beaches,
however Mayor Vaughn and several other key islanders are flat against the beach
closing, mainly for economic reasons. Chief Brody initially backs down about the
beach closings, however once the shark attacks came again to the shores of Amity,
the beaches were closed. It was an island consensus to hire a shark killer (Quint) to
solve the problem, regardless of the hefty fee he charged. It turned out not to be so
simple a problem especially for Quint. Once the size of the shark was estimated it
created another issue for Amity with the very limited equipment and expertise
they had available on the small, isolated island, they had to reach out for expert
help (Matt Hooper, Oceanographer). As Jaws continued to attack Amity s beaches
it was finally seen for its actual size, that is when Chief Brody made the statement
of you re gonna need a bigger boat , which was not written in the original
screenplay and has become known as the most memorable line in the movie. Jaws is
suspense filled and the music score for the shark attack was developed perfectly to
create further suspense, while the music played one watched, glued to the screen

Why Is Lord Of The Flies Still Relevant Today
In the book Lord of the Flies, the story takes place around war time. Britain flew
out a group of British school boys in an airplane. The airplane was shot out of the
sky and the plane crashes onto an island. The only people to make it out of the
crash are kids. One of the kids name was Ralph, he was the oldest. The other oldest

Ralph decides to make Jack in charge of finding food and water while Ralph tried
to find shelter. Jack would go out to find food and come back with nothing day
after day and couldn t seem to understand what else to do, but he never gave up.
One day some of the kids started to become scared because they claimed they saw a

The Importance Of A Personal Value System
A personal value system is a set of principles that guide an individual s behavior,
which provides a foundation by helping someone determine what is meaningful and
important. Essentially, it is a foundation for individuals to express themselves and
support their beliefs to society. Values is what defines a person s character because
it is impacting aspects of individual s lives such as interactions, decision making
processes, and direction in one s life. As for having the principles of morals is to
know the difference between righteous decisions and unrighteous decisions.
However, the importance of having values and morals is vitally important to
establish because it influences their worldview and ethical decision making.Defining
values as abstract beliefs about desirable goals, ordered by relative importance, that
guide individuals as they evaluate events, people, and actions (Fischer Schwartz,
2011). Being from a Hispanic culture, everyone s worldview is very similar as well
as their values and morals. An example of core Hispanic values would be family is
always first, which traditional Hispanic parents would find it offensive if their child
does not take in consideration of their family and think of their family first. Another
interesting factor that corresponds to many individuals in the Hispanic culture is
having hard work ethic formed by sacrifice. Many of Hispanic parents come to the
United States to provide a better life for their families, which is a strong
The Next Factor Of Public Opinion
The next factor involved was public opinion. Many were for campus carry because
they felt as if they had a fundamental right to be able to carry ( Strickland, 2016).
Several students and faculty helped shape public opinion by describing how it
would make their college experience a safe and better one ( Fernandez, 2015).
Many Texas residents believed that if they were allowed to carry they could then
prevent mass shooting ( Fernandez, 2015). This was a main argument of public
opinion. Though many were against campus carry the ones for it worked together to
help change the minds of people who did not believe that guns should be on campus.
They did this by describing that the number of students who would actually carry on
campus would be small and it would be older community college students (
Fernandez, 2015). Public opinion also helped the billpassbecause Texas is a
conservative state with 850,000 license holders ( Fernandez, 2015). They wanted to
make the public happy by passing the bill because the number of people for it
outweighed the ones against it. The opinion of people such as the universitys chief of
police spoke out about not being worried because it never had been an issue (
Fernandez, 2015). Students believed they had a right to self preservation and
should be allowed to carry ( Strickland, 2016). In the end Governor Greg aAbbott
had listened to people wanting to be allowed to carry on campus and decided he

Nietzsche s Philosophy On Personal Life And Education
Friedrich Nietzsche was a German, writer, poet, thinker and philopher. He was
renowned for his ideas on the end of religion, existentialism and the concept of good
and evil. Nietzsche focused essentially on the end of religion. He once declared that
God is dead , a statement that decidedly defied Christianity as well as morality.
According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, he was rapt in the
development of individual and cultural health, and believed in life, creativity, power,
and down to earth realities, rather than those situated in a world beyond . Nietzsche s
work inspired the likes of famed psychologist such as Sigmund Freud as well as other

Personal Life and Education
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was born on October 15, 1844 in Röcken Germany.
He was raised as a Lutheran where his father served as a pastor. However, in later
years, Nietzsche developed a certain disregard for the church and abandon
Christianity all together, thus proclaiming God is dead. The death of his father and
younger brother proved rather distressing for young Nietzsche who was the only
male in a household filled with women. He attended prestigious boarding school
where he proved his capabilities in the classics, literature and

Abraham Lincoln is considered to be one of the most influential presidents of the
United States. He served during a time of turmoil and suffering for the American
people, and throughout this dreadful and gory journey, Lincoln was able to redirect
the path that America had taken, and in the process, altering history. In the first years
of the war, Lincoln believed that that the war was being fought to keep the union
together, and not about freeing the slaves, but that changed. Lincoln, being portrayed
as a man who valued equality, from the beginning believed that slavery was iniquitous

Before his assassination, Lincoln had great plans for the United States and its
period of Reconstruction. Lincoln s ideas were unable to be fulfilled because in
his place came Andrew Johnson, who held opposing views with Lincoln since he
was a Southern Democrat, and was also openly unwilling to support any plans that
granted slaves civil equality. Today, many wonder how history would be different
if Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated, and what he would have included in his
farewell address . In his Gettysburg Address, Lincoln addressed the fact that the war
was not fought for nothing, and that the lives that were lost served for the freedom
and equality of the country. In this speech, he makes the people of America feel
proud to be American, and gives them a reason as to why they are fighting. Later,
when he is once again re elected, in his Second Inaugural Address, Abraham Lincoln
states that the Civil War in a sense brought them together, and together they will
reconstruct the country and live in peace and harmony. Looking at these two
speeches, it can be inferred that if Lincoln had lived, in his farewell address he might
have talked about how far they had come, and restate how unified they were stronger,
and with equality amongst them, the American people had peace, he would also
thank them for their trust and belief in him. As for the
Elie Wiesel Loss Of Identity In Night
Elie Wiesel s memoir Night displays how the traumatic effects of the Holocaust
shaped his identity, as it caused him to lose hope in humanity and goodness in the
world due to loss of faith. An individual is greatly impacted by their identity as it
can shape how others view them, their moral beliefs and how they reflect upon
themselves. Those perceptions of Elie are altered by the intense punishments and
orders the Nazi officers have on the captured Jewish. Wiesel is stripped of his
rights and punished for his Jewish faith, which triggers the changes in his identity
and turns into a lifeless prisoner. After seeing many of his fellow prisoners be killed

Wiesel s lack of hope leads to depression, hopelessness and frustration. These
emotional traits can be seen at times when he talks to himself about how he is
internally crying and was very angry with his situation. His loss of faith hurts his
process of understanding and undergoing life, causing extensive emotional issues.
The Nazi s took his identity by stripping Elie of his culture and heritage. He now
ignores the holidays like Hanukkah that he had celebrated, and no longer is able to
do many of the things he did in Hungary. Following World War II, cultural
destructiveness is prevented from occuring again as a number of groups, such as
UNESCO, help pass international heritage protection treaties. The death of his
father takes away even more meaning in his life, as they were a very connected

It is a well known fact that professional writing instructors explicitly frown upon the
usage of passive voice. Unfortunately, one of the major issues in paper one was the
frequent use of passive voice. Luckily, Professor Lee pointed out and underlined
where I used passive voice to express my arguments. For example, I often presented
my arguments as PGD should be allowed , PGD is banned , and Nations should
have prohibited. My thesis statement in paper one was also presented in passive
voice (Artifact 2). The major concern, at the time, is that I was unable to identify
passive voice properly. In order to learn what passive voice is and to avoid it in
writing, my professor devoted an entire lecture to the usage of passive voice and
offered in class exercises in identifying passive voice and converting it into active
voice. As Professor Lee defined in her PowerPoint, Passive voice is when the
object of the action becomes the subject of the sentence (Artifact 1). Often times,
people will not know who is the subject doing the action and correspondingly, this
weakens the argument. This knowledge helped me immensely in my second paper.
For example, I wrote my arguments in active voice such as countries should take
the lead and countries should allow whereas in my old writing, I would have
written the lead should be taken and it should be allowed (Artifact 2). After
comparing paper 2 to paper 1, I saw the importance in being an active writer. Taking
out the passive voice in my writing allowed me to present my arguments in a much

The Love Guru Stereotypes
In American history, one of the main struggles that each race had to go through was
to be treated equally without there being any pattern of discrimination. However, if
historians look at the 18th century and compare it to the 21st century, and analyze
what is currently happening in the 21st century, they would see no difference in the
pattern. All they would notice is that the pattern of discrimination has recently been
modified to be less noticeable than before. In more recent times, many people make
up stereotypes that they involve with certain races, and later these stereotypes are
used against them to make fun of their culture or to even make it seem as if every
person that has roots from that raceis truly like that. An example of this would be in
the movie named The Love Guru, this movie tends to portray Southern Asians and
Middle Eastern stereotypes, which forces the audience to accept the stereotypes and
consider them to be true. Many American s are familiar with stereotypes, and
stereotypes can be quite hurtful to the race that it is directed towards. The movie The

The Colony Of Algeria
The colony of Algeria was one of many that were established by the French in order to
rectify their diminishing image on an international scale. Throughout history the
nation of France has seemed to be in the shadows of Great Britain, as well as
struggling to keep up with their advancements. Throughout the 19th century, France
experienced its fair share of losses, bad leaders, and through their eyes, national
embarrassment. The new republic signified a New France, and imperialistic pursuits
were one way they intended to regain the stature that they had lost and longed for
throughout the course of history. Algerian and French relations had begun early in
the 1800 s, but became deeply rooted following the Berlin Conference which
revamped European nations desire to imperialize. This colony, along with many was
the nation s way to the top and would not be released lightly. The French who were
famous for their revolution disregarded their historical past, as they infiltrated
Algerian soil and were negatively impacted in the long run by the colonization
process. In particular, the colony of Algeria halted French pursuits to international
stardom through resistance, and attributed to the further decline of the once great

As I leave for Oregon I enter the Kahului airport, a fairly familiar site as I ve been
here a number of times for various reasons. Once inside I head to my destination,
which isn t too hard to find. The airport is sparsely populated with people awaiting
their flights. On the way to my gate I come across a hot dogstand selling overpriced
hot dogs. With nothing else to eat I bought one for myself and one for each of my
brothers. Aside from each bite being a mouthful of onions, it was decent enough.
Maybe he d make more of a profit if he halved the amount of onions he used on each
hotdog. I sit at one of the seats that linethe aisles to eat my overpriced food. Beside
me my brothers sit and eat their own hotdogs, the seats across the aisle remain empty
much like most of the airport. The time comes to board the plane, the small space is
filled and we take off shortly after. Looking out the window all you can see is the
dark of night and the lights coming from the island. With a long flight ahead, I do
my best to rest while I can. Following a six hour flight from Maui I arrive in San
Francisco. I step off the plane and am greeted by a sea of people and an airport
much larger than the one in Kahului. The much more calm feeling of the island is
replaced by the hustle and bustle of the much larger city, quite honestly it s a tad
strange. There was not a moment s rest for these people as they hurried along from
one gate to the next. There s no order in the way people walk, sometimes
The Unexpected Surprise of Violence
No being on this planet will know exactly what will happen tomorrow. Every action
they make today can alter an event in two weeks without awareness. But, life is
valued poorly in the twenty first century as another ordinary day of constant
repetition. You have to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully
when we allow the unexpected to happen (Coelho). Life becomes valued once risks
are taken, but the outcome is never expected. Shirley Jackson, reader of witchcraft
books, horrifies people with her perspective on the understanding of merciless rituals
that kept communities at ease. Shirley Jackson develops her theme of unexpected
violence in her short storyThe Lotterythrough the use of irony, symbolism, and...

Physical Analysis Of Ray By Guy Vanderhaeghe
No mention of a character within a story can be unintentional. Every word counts
and contributes to an image of the character both directly and indirectly. In the
short story Ray by Guy Vanderhaeghe, protagonist Ray Matthews is an example of
how no word goes unused to maximize a character. Ray is an average, middle aged
man, with an average wife, an average accounting job, and an average life. Nothing
sticks out that is unique to him, and his inability to understand anything without
others explaining it to him creates issues throughout his life. Vanderhaeghe
develops Ray s character through his physical description, how others speak of
him, and his social interactions to exemplify how important characterization is in
a story. One way that Vanderhaeghe produces Ray s childlike innocence is through
physical description. Vanderhaeghe describes Ray s appearance when he is a
child: [Ray is] an awkward boy with embarrassingly heavy thighs, plump behind,
and a mild, trusting face that [leads] his teachers to smile at his infrequent, small
misdemeanours and always think the best of him (295). People tend to grow out
of baby fat and other features as they age, however since it is said that Ray has not,
his youthful and childish thinking and lack of development is amplified. About a
decade later, when Pam, Ray s eventual wife, is recalling to when she first meets him
at a university party, he is described as a shy looking boy with a gentle voice (301). It

Case Study On Popular Data Mining
Study on Popular Data Mining Algorithms/Techniques
Abstract: Data mining algorithms determine how the cases for a data mining model
are analyzed. Data mining model algorithms provide the decision making capabilities
needed to classify, segment, associate and analyze data for the processing of data
mining columns that provide predictive, variance, or probability information about
the case set. With an enormous amount of data stored in databases and data
warehouses, it is increasingly important to develop powerful tools for analysis of
such data and mining interesting knowledge from it. Data mining is a process of
inferring knowledge from such huge data. Data Mining has three major components
Clustering or Classification, Association Rules and Sequence Analysis.

The selection and implementation of the appropriate data mining technique is the
main task in this phase. This process is not straightforward; usually, in practice, the
implementation is based on several models, and selecting the best one is an
additional task. By simple definition, in classification/clustering we analyze a set of
data and generate a set of grouping rules which can be used to classify future data.
One of the important problems in data mining is the Classification rule learning
which involves finding rules that partition given data into predefined classes. An
association rule is a rule which implies certain association relationships among a set
of objects in a database. In sequential Analysis, we seek to discover patterns that
occur in sequence. This deals with data that appear in separate
Social Media And Traditional Media
Traditional media has failed to live up to its fourth estate role. This has lead us to
the question, can the more modern, social media, make up for the lack of success
that traditional media has had in fulfilling this watchdog role for the people? Kemp
s rules of CIDRA1 apply to social media as they do with traditional media. Thus, we
must determine what, if any, obstacles are present in preventing social media from
completing this role. More specifically, do the five filters that Chomsky highlights
apply to social media as they do to traditional media? Or does the fundamental
structure of social media allow for it to accomplish a fifth estaterole? I argue that
social media is more effective at playing a watchdog role than traditional media.
Social media is built on a platform that has the interest of working for the people in
terms of freedom of distributing ideas and checking elitepower in liberal
democracies. Furthermore, ...traditional media formats are no longer the only
politically relevant forms of media (Metzgar, Maruggi, 2009, p. 149). The reason
that social media can have higher success in acting as a watchdog role stems from
one central theme: when it comes to social media, less of Chomsky s filters lie
between the person wanting to distribute an idea and the ability to have this idea
delivered to the public.
We must understand the foundation of social media, and determine if it can meet the
standards brought by Kemp. This, along with determining if Chomsky s

The Government Pros And Disadvantages Of A Minority...
In a system of governance, if a hung parliament occurs, that is, when a parliament has
no single party and thus no legitimate way to form a government, the government can
actually gain advantages. Instead of a single party majority, minority governments
allow multiple parties to govern. A minority government does not hinder a governing
party because it promotes accountability to the legislature, which allows a more
flexible decision making process, that ultimately provides a Prime Minister different
powers to maintain control which allows an efficient government.
Under a minority government, no party has ultimate control of making policies, it
instead rules on consensus with the other parties, conversely, in a majority
government, a single party dominates the legislative process. Though complex
agreements between opposition parties, the governing party can maintain confidence.
For example, countries including Canada use contract parliamentarism, where
opposition parties agree to support the government in return for policy on other
concessions (Akash et al., 2010, p. 216). While this promotes collective
responsibility, parties are still able to decide their own position on most matters.
Therefore, parties collaborate to protect minority agreements that often survive a full
parliamentary term (Akash et al., p. 216). This can result in motions being passed
that cover a broad variety of different topics that ultimately can address issues that all
parties see lacking in

Ebenezer Scrooge In A Christmas Carol
The story A Christmas Carol is the story of a man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who despises
Christmas and everything it stands for. The story has various cause and effect
scenarios in which Scrooge eventually sees the error of his ways and comes to terms
with the fact that whatever made him hate Christmas to begin with is not worth
hating now.
Scrooge was a very cruel man throughout a majority of the story, but as the story went
on, things began to change. For starters, his reason for not liking the Christmas season
was due to the fact that his friend/business partner, Jacob Marley, had died on that
day seven years prior, amongst other things. These other things would include losing
his love and being abandoned and forgotten as a child.

Stephen Covey s The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective
People
Humans tend to believe they are multitaskers. The only thing that can multitask is a
computer. Humans cannot focus on more than one thing at a time, unlike a computer.
We associate multitasking with doing multiple things at once. Computers are
considered multitaskers because they can run more than one computer program at a
time. Human must shift their focus to whichever task they are working on at the
time. Sarah Sparks, writer of the article, Studies on Multitasking Highlight Value of
Self Control explains that individuals that efficient are those that know it is best to
work on one task and then move on to the next task. Sarah Sparks goes on to
explain that individuals who can ignore distractions, stay focused, follow and finish a
task through, will produce higher quality work than those who attempt to multitask.
Good prioritizing skills play a role in those individuals lives and it allows them to
decide which task is more important to focus on first. Steve Mueller writes about
using a four quadrantmatrix by Stephen Covey to help organize our lives. Stephen
Covey is the author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. The sole purpose
of Mr. Covey s four quadrant matrix is to prioritize tasks in relation to their
importance and urgency, to help decide whether you need to address a task
immediately or if you can postpone it. Using Mr. Covey s quadrant helps puts things
into a better perspective as to which task has the highest priority and which task has

Treaty Of Versailles Essay
The treaty of Versailles, was considered the most important peace treaty in the
history of the world. Ultimately marking the end of World War I, this peace treaty
shaped the world we live in today. Some believe that the treaty was based on
principles inconsistently applied (Mazower 109). While this allegation is true, the
principle of consistency must be upheld in order to match the reform of a broken
nation. Others believe that the idea of it being inconsistent isn t the main issue.
They consider the main issue behind Versallies was not the inconsistency, but
instead the ineffectiveness. This is because it was based upon an inaccurate
appraisal of the European balance of power and deprived of the means of its own
defense by American withdrawal and British indifference (Mazower 109). The idea
of a new, independent country would not be able to ensure its own stability in which
two powerhouse countries reigned supreme. Considered one of the most influential
people, when it came to defining the Cold War policy, was George Kennan. In the
late 1930s he wrote that the unity of the Habsburg Empire was in shambles and that
now other territories are looking to unify parts of this empire for themselves. The

more than 5 years, the Fisher Body General Motors (GM) contract for the supply of
automobile bodies broke down when GM s demand for Fisher s bodies unexpectedly
increased dramatically. This pushed the imperfect contractual arrangement between
the parties outside the self enforcing range and led Fisher to take advantage of the

Persuasive Essay On How To Make Makeup
With a million different shades, a bountiful of techniques, and the hidden
technicalities, makeup will always be a struggle. The face serves as a canvas, and
like all kinds of artwork, it has its own share of mistakes that you cannot help but
make. Makeup is not expected to be perfect on the first try, so it is okay. Below you
will read some of the most commonly made makeup mistakes and mishaps.
Before putting anything on your face, you have to make sure your face is as clean as
it can be. Even in this process people make a number of mistakes.
You may have all the products you need, moisturizer, cream, face masks, and so on,
but if you leave out the right way to cleaning your face then you might neglect the
use of these products in the first place.
Dr. Nicholas Perricone, MD, emphasizes that it is a common point of confusion. He
speaks on how it should be correctly done and what people are unconsciously doing
wrong.
Whether you are in your teens, 20s or have mature skin, the basics are the same: To
avoid irritation, stay away from scrubbing grains, abrasive pads/washcloths, alcohol
based toners and astringents. These can disturb the normal skin pH and produce
inflammation and dryness that will age and damage the skin.
It is also not a good thing to wash your face with hot water because the temperature
will cause your face to get rid of its needed natural oils that will keep the skin from
being parched. It is much better to go for either cold water or something lukewarm.
Emily Orofino also lists on PopSugar.com makeup mistakes that she has noticed over
time. The first to take attention to are the brushes you need for makeup in the first
place.
No matter what the situation, it is important to keep your makeup brushes clean.
When your makeup brushes are not cleaned regularly, you are at a risk of breaking
out or messing up your future looks. Everyone has to go through this, even
professionals.
Another one that is commonly observed is the foundation application process. Of
course, it is important to know what shade is the best for us. The problem lies on
where we test the shade.
Orofino sheds some light on a common mistake that is testing the shade on the back
of our hand. When testing the shade on the

Essay on The American Revolution and the Formation of
Bolivia
пѓ Introduction
The American Revolution did much more than any of our founding fathers had ever
imagined, it started a movement that would threaten the very roots of colonialism
across the globe. Setting an example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the
United States inspired regions such as Latin America to fight for their rights and
liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was Upper Peru, which
would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the war,
the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major
battles, but even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of
the nation. From the year 1809, Upper Peru was engaged in a ... Show more content

Simon Bolivar, who had a reputation of being a liberator, took center stage. The
common folk began to trust his words, as he talked about fighting for the resources
that were theirs, ideals taken directly from the American Revolution itself. Also with
the power struggle created by the Napoleonic wars, uprisings began. The most
prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which led to
the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power
from the Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take
shape, Latin Nations such as Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian
liberators. Surprisingly, America didn t live up to its reputation, having no negative
impact on this revolution. Normally, America had been notorious for backing up the
dictators or colonial powers and suppressing the Latin liberators. All in all, the
combination of a power struggle brought upon by foreign wars, introduction of
revolutionary independence ideals, proper leadership, and foreign aid, the Bolivian
revolution was successful in liberating the nation from Spanish Colonial power after
16 years of conflict.

Meritocracies In The High Middle Ages
While the early Middle Ages were a time of isolation, the High Middle Ages saw
the return of trade. As population increased, more people were able to move into
urban centers; the port cities in Italy flourished in particular. The First Crusade was
ordered by Pope Urban II in 1095 and the initial purpose was to rescue the Holy Land
from Muslim control but instead the Crusades stimulated new trade between western
Europeand the East ( The Western Heritage , lxxiii). This influx of trade resulted in
the birth of a new social class, the bourgeois. The bourgeois were merchants whose
new wealth was seen as a threat, by the nobles, to political and social order. The
creation of the bourgeois saw the beginning of meritocracy in western European
society because finally people could improve their status through hard... Show more

The bourgeois also were responsible for the fragmentation of the traditional feudal
society. The laws imposed by lords often restricted trade so wherever merchants
settled, they lobbied for the freedom necessary to pursue successful commerce (
The Western Heritage, lxx). To protect merchants and later artisans from the
damaging policies of the lords, guilds were formed. The guild worked to further
commerce and improve the lives of members. For example, as a member of a guild,
a merchant or craftsman were guaranteed that should [they] fall into poverty or
misery, all the members of the guild [would] assist him out of the treasury of the
guild or out of their own pockets (The Merchant Guild of Lynn Regis). These
associational organizations were yet another seed of modern society that was planted

townspeople and the lords, towns began to ally themselves with kings which

The Enlightenment Ideas And Beliefs Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a period where many ideas were introduced to culture.
Philosophers such as Locke, Hobbs, Rousseau, Voltaire, and Wollstonecraft worked
to usher in new ideas and different ways of thinking. These ideas and beliefs
influenced society in a positive way. Each of these philosophers had different
perceptions and beliefs on how a society should function. What was their central idea?
The philosophers of the Enlightenment believed in equality and freedom and that
society could be improved either economically, socially, politically, or religiously.
Adam Smith, a philosopher during the Enlightenment, believed that each man can
pursue economics to make money for himself. Adam Smith states, Every man...is left
perfectly free to pursue his own interest in his own way (Doc C). Smith is
explaining that everyone has the freedom to use their own ways and methods to
satisfy their needs and interests. Smith also states, As every individual, therefore,
endeavors as much as he can both to employ his capital [money] in the support of
...industry, and so to direct that industry that its produce may be of greatest value;
every individual necessarily [contributes to] the annual revenue of the society as great
as he can (Doc C). This statement explains that everyone works hard both to support
the economy and support themselves. People shouldn t rely on just their economy to
survive. Instead, they should work to both help the economy flourish and to provide
for themselves. He
Three Forms Of Semiotics
There have been several attempts to define semiotics and they all seem to share that
semiotics is the scientific study of signs, sign processes like: indication, designation,
likeness, analogy, metaphor, signification and meaningful communication. Umberto
Eco attests that semiotics is concerned with everything that can be taken as a sign
(Eco 1976, p. 7) .
Semiotics, rather than dealing with the organization of signs, has to do with how
meaning is produced, what makes an utterance meaningful, how it signifies and what
precedes it on a deeper level to result in the manifestation of meaning. It is based
mainly on the notion that meaning is not inherent in the objects, but is constructed
by a competent observer called a subject who can give form ... Show more content on

All that can fall within the compass of human understanding, being either, first, the
nature of things, as they are in themselves, their relations, and their manner of
operation: or, secondly, that which man himself ought to do, as a rational and
voluntary agent, for the attainment of any end, especially happiness: or, thirdly, the
ways and means whereby the knowledge of both the one and the other of these is
attained and communicated; I think science may be divided properly into these three
sorts (Locke 1999, p. 717) .
Nevertheless, it was only with the emergence of the theories and works of two
seminal characters, viz. Charles Sanders Peirce (1839 1914) an American pragmatist
philosopher and Ferdinand de Saussure (1857 1913) the Swiss linguist and their
attempts in the development of a formal theory of semiotics that semiotics began to
be considered as a separate field of research.
For Charles S. Peirce, semiotics was a scientific field of study where all signs and
sign types could be explained scientifically and hence logically. Like John Locke,
Peirce defined semiotics as a doctrine of signs. He later went on to develop a semiotic
triad:
Hip Hop Culture s Cover Art Analysis
With means to express oneself, helps one overcome the difficulties of life. This
approach represents the entire nature of the hip hop culture, especially when dealing
with social justice issues. Today, hip hop culture s association revolves around raps
(lyrics) and the rappers which reflect how consumers receive messages about social
justice issues. Unlike breaking and graffiti, the music/lyrics penetrate society more.
However, for this analysis, the focus will rely on a visual element with a connection
to hip hop music. Even though a music video would make sense as a visual means of
expression, this analysis has more interest in a hip hop albums cover art. Also, this
focus will lead to the question of how important is art to send messages... Show more

At nighttime, two black teens run towards the camera away from several white
police officers. In this scene, the teens stand out the most due to their light, almost
blinding, clothing. Upon the first viewing, the cops appear invisible as if lurking in
the shadows. While the person on the right has their face towards the camera, the
other person turns their head to the cops. With the right sided person unobscured
face, examining their expression becomes simple. It s as if this horrified teen is
screaming as loud as possible. On the other hand, the black teen on the left has their
attention on the cops, blocking their expression but it appears shocked. As stated
before, the police officers outfits cause them to blend into the night while
illuminating the light part of them; their white faces and arms. However, the cops
seem calm, almost confused as they walk behind the teens. Due to their leisurely
pace, it confuses the photo s tone presented by the screaming teen. It doesn t seem as
violent as another picture with black teens and white cops would. What is happening
in this image; are the police at fault or are the teens? Even with historical context, the
motives of the individuals in this picture remain
The Balkan Of World History
If one was to ask the experienced historian Andrew Watchtel, author of the book The
Balkan in World History , about the most peculiar aspect of East Central Europe,
odds are, he would refer to its cultural layering. Watchtel use the term cultural
layering to define the collage of cultures that have fused over time in this region.
This cultural layering found in East Central Europe is reflected more evidently with
the infrastructure, language roots, and religion of the Balkan area. The Roman,
Byzantine, and Ottoman empires were the ones that for diverse reasons left a more
lasting impression in this area. To be more specific, by means of architecture, the
province of Plovdiv, Bulgariais the perfect example on how these three empires left...

At last, the Roman set the Danube River as the empire s limit or natural divisor from
the northern European unconquered territories by building limes or fortified borders.
As Rome added new provinces to the empire set Greek as the official language of
the Eastern part and built infrastructure throughout the region. Before incorporating
the Balkan Region into the empire, Latin was the only official language in the
empire. However, the language used in the Balkans area was mostly Greek, so
Romans decided set Greekas the the official language of the Eastern part of the
empire. Jean Sedlar, author of the book, East Central European in Middle Ages,
estimated that one reason of doing so may be because the Romans admired for the
Greek civilization (Bideleux and Jeffries 1998, 42). Moreover, his conjecture may
be correct, due to the fact that the Roman culture was based on Greek background.
Therefore, most of the Eastern part of the empire used Greek as the official
language, but the Dacia province was the exception where the Romanian developed,
a romance or Latin derived language. One of the myriads of examples of Roman
architecture can be reflected with the Plovdiv Aqueduct located in present day
Plovdiv, Bulgaria or the Ancient Roman province of Thracia.
Secondly, the Byzantine Empire, also referred as the Eastern Roman Empire
expanded to parts of Eastern Central Europe as a measure of gaining control over the
Holy Roman Empire. Byzantium was
History Of Boy Scouts
Recently, a girl form New York, Sidney Ireland, made headlines when she began
petitioning the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to allow her to join a Boy Scout
troop, aspiring to earn the Eagle Scout Award. Of course, she could join Girl
Scouts and ascend through their ranks, but she had been an honorary member of
her brother s Boy Scout troop and wanted to follow in his footsteps. So far, her
appeal to the national office of the BSA in Irving, TX has been denied (Khan). Their
official response referred to the charter of the Boy Scouts which was approved by
Congress and President Woodrow Wilson in 1915, to promote, through organization,
and cooperation with other agencies, the ability of boys to do things for themselves
and others, to train them in Scoutcraft, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self
reliance, and kindred virtues, using the methods which are now in common use by
Boy Scouts. But the history of the Scouting movement can be traced to England in
1908 when General Robert Baden Powell created both boy scout and girl guide
programs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A strict interpretation of the charter points to an organization solely for boys and
young men, but in 1971 girls were eventually included in the Explorer (later

Autism And Its Effects On Children
Autism is a disorder that affects millions of people with the number increasing with
each passing year. Compared to other development disorders, autism today is still
widely undiscovered with several holes. It is an important developmental disorder
that everyone should understand because most people either know someone
personally with autismor have come in contact with an individual who has autism.
Knowing about how autism works can allow the world to help those with autism and
know how to interact with them.
With the prevalence of those diagnosed with Autism increasing every year, advances
in research on this disorder can have a profound effect on millions of people
worldwide. Autism can be treated the most effectively when caught early, therefore it
is even more important that we all know the symptoms of this developmental
disorder, so it can be treated before the severity of the symptoms increase. Still today,
no known cause exist behind why Autism occurs, although research has shown that
various environmental factors may be to blame, genetic mutations have also been
found. A big lack of research on Autism has greatly hurt the life of those with
Autism, with no findings on why it occurs. With more research those with Autism,
could have better social skills or a majority could have jobs and live independently
without any help what so ever. Likewise because of the lack of research, no one
single treatment exists that can completely cure Autism. Currently only specific
My First Time Canvassing
On Monday, September 26th, I worked in Crystal s office and went canvassing.
While in her office, I sorted through a long list of people and individually wrote
down the name and numbers of those who signed up for canvassing. I then called
every person who signed up and invited them to the canvassing party that took
place on Saturday from 2 5pm. This was my first time making phone calls. Since I
did not prepare a script, the first phone call I made was a little rough. As I
continued to make phone calls, I started to feel more comfortable and knew
exactly what to say. Most of the people I called, either didn t answer or had other
plans. This task helped me discover a hidden talent; I am good at talking to people
over the phone. Once Crystal got back from a meeting, we started canvassing. This
was my first time canvassing alone and I must say, it was a little rough. I
canvassed in precinct 16c which is the north side of Springfield. I noticed that
although there were a few nice homes in the area, most of the homes were a little
run down. Since I am from Saint Louis, this is not that much of a shock to me.
Crystal referred the precinct I was canvassing in as the hood. I had to laugh a little
because although the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This experience was a little different from the other two mentioned in this week s
reflection paper. I walked a very conservative area and only spoke with one
democrat out of the 50 houses I knocked. There were quite a few people who

particular gave me a speech lesson. He told me that he could not vote for a
candidate that was prochoice because he was German and someone who could
take the life of a baby is like a Nazi in his eyes. I have never heard that before and
totally disagree with him. On the Brightside, he told me that I am doing a great job
with speaking the only thing he would change is my nervous tone when I first start
Attachment Theory 4
Bowlby s maternal deprivation hypothesis assumes that continual disruption of the
attachment bond between the infant and primary caregiver would result in long term
cognitive, social and emotional difficulties for the child. To what extent has research
into deprivation and privation supported this view. Bowlby claimed that the role of a
mother was essential to a child and without this essential mother figure it would
affect the child s psychological health. He called this theory the maternal deprivation
hypothesis. Bowlby conducted most of his research through observing orphans and
children in care. Bowlby held the view that if a child lacked an attachment to a
mother figure it could have major effects on the child s development. It... Show more

Bowlby studied the effects of short term deprivation, he concluded that the child
goes through three stages of distress. Protest, the child kicks and screams in order
to prevent their mother from leaving, Despair the child appears to be apathetic but
it still angry about the separation and detachment, when the separation continues
the child begins to respond to others again, when reunited with the mother at this
stage the child may have to develop a relationship over again. Long term
deprivation is a permanent separation through death or divorce. Bowlby concluded
that the most common effect of long term deprivation is separation anxiety.
Separation anxiety may lead to aggressive behaviour, clingy behaviour, detachment
and psychosomatic reactions. Divorce can have a huge effect on a child. Divorce
is a long process that can affect a child for a period of years. Most children are
affected by divorce but the process can be generally more difficult for boys.
According to Hetherington and Stanley Hagan (1999) most children are resilient
enough to adapt to their parent divorce after a period of time has passed. The main
facotrs of divorce that can affect a child are, how often they see the non custodial
parent, the lifestyle or financial implications of being part of a single parent family
and if one or both parents remarry, this can cause a massive difference in family life
due to the child having to come to terms with their new
Explain Why Some People Should Be Kind To Other People
Some people may be familiar with this Bible verse in Proverbs 19:17 which says,
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his
deed. or this other Bible verse; It is well with the man who deals generously and
lends; who conducts his affairs with justice from Psalm 112:5. They both talk about
generosity in other words, kindness. In today s world, people act in a way based on
their morals, culture, logic or based on their religion. Some people have a belief that
they should be kind to others because they might receive the same kindness back. But
kindness is something much more than what people think it is. It is about acceptance
regardless of differences, respect and giving without expectation. 6 years
Compare And Contrast A Rose For Emily And Everyday Use
In both short stories, A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner and Everyday Use by
Alice Walker, two characters can be described as similar. These characters are very
similar in two very different ways. Each character seems to want, and yearn for
something that is not theirs. They both feel that they need something, so they
become very bitter and vengeful. In A Rose for Emily , Emily, the main character,
wanted a man in her life. After her father died many years ago, she felt the need for
a man in her life, and along came Homer Barron. Homer Barron was not your
typical man, it was stated that he liked men, which at the time was not an indicator
of him being homosexul but rather meant that he liked being out with the boys
and enjoyed his time away. Therefore Emily could not have him like she wanted. In
Everyday Use , Dee desperately wanted Mama s quilt. The quilt was going to be
inherited by Maggie instead of Dee. Dee, most of the time, neglected to give the
mother the attention that she deserved. She was not a big family person, you could
say. While Dee is very accomplished and very bright, she lacked on her interpersonal

In A Rose for Emily Emily had already had a tough life, with her father dying,
causing her to be very emotional. When She found a man, she latched on, and
never let him go. She killed him so he could be with her forever. The view of
Emily as a monument would have been destroyed. Emily might have become the
object of continued gossip. (West 74). In Everyday Use , Dee was also quite
vengeful, but with her words rather than her actions. Some of Dee s words were very
hurtful to the family. After the quilts were promised to Maggie, Dee was furious.
Although Maggie is intimidated enough to surrender the beloved quilts to Dee, the
mother feels the sudden surge of rebellion. (Ross 732). Both characters were very
mean and bitter, therefore they did not initially get what they

enormous rock that is made of granite. The mountain can be seen from Kennesaw

Surrounding Stone Mountain is the city of Stone Mountain. On February 21, 1958
the governor of Georgia, Marvin Griffin, signed the bill which authorized Stone
Mountain to become a state run park and allowed it the authority to receive money
from bonds granted by the state. Since that day, the park has added many different

The most popular of the yearly events held at Stone Mountain is the Yellow Daisy

Being more than 1,000,000 square feet, the steep north face of Stone Mountain is
the world s largest projection screen. The original show premiered in 1983 and still
occurs seasonally today. Other popular events which are enjoyable to thousands of
local guests include the Chili Cook off and Scottish Highland Games. Many events
are held in the event meadow. This meadow provides large space and a perfect view
of the mountain. Out of town guests also visit the Stone Mountain Recreational Park
for a variety of reasons. The Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort, (a hotel near
Stone Mountain) has a conference center with meeting rooms rented out to hundreds

the accommodations are upscale, but the resort is very large so the trip to the room

The Song Analysis Of The Song Hotel California
The song hotel California The song hotel California was released by an artist
known as Eagles in 1976. The genre of the song is classic rock. It was written by
Glenn Frey and Don Felder with help of Don Henley. California is the setting of this
song, even though it used to relate the entire America. This song is all about the
exaggeration of the American culture and some specific girls in America. In addition,
it touches the uneasy balance between commerce and art in America. Hotel California
is a metaphor for the LA high life and the cons and pros of living in the music
industry. Hotel Californiatells the story of a man driving along a super highway. On
his way, the man gets tired and decides to stop at a hotel which ends up being a
pleasure palace with a sinister. While listening, a casual listener would tend to
think how lovely place California might be. The listener might wish to crash
California probably for a weekend, or order for a room service just to enjoy the
lovely place, Hoskyns, B. (2006). . But when someone listens this song keenly, he
or she might start wondering if the hotel is as good as Guantanamo or Palm
Springs simply because it says, you can check any time you like but you can never
leave! As a matter of fact this song has its dark side. The song Hotel California has
got various lyrics. For instance, warm smell of colitis which is direct reference to a
plant known as colitis. Colitis is one the common desert plants in America. In
Synesthesia Theory
Synesthesia is a mysterious occurrence that varies amongst each individual who
experiences synesthesia symptoms. In order to have a full comprehension of what
synesthesia is, one must be aware that there are many different forms, stages, and
theories that help explain synesthesia. According to Simner (2010), over 150 different
manifestations of synesthesiahave been discovered (e.g. Certain types of sound may
trigger colors, or types of sound may trigger tastes). (p. 558). Although, there are
many types of variations, there is no criteria or specific diagnostic that ultimately
determines the difference between each characteristic of synesthesia. However, there
are two forms of synesthesia that are most common. Some synesthetes in

In this case, taking methamphetamine, lysergic acid diethyl amide, also known as
LSD, and other hallucinogenic drugs, can cause synesthetic like experiences. (14).
Because the disinhibitory feedback theory states there is no neuronal distinction in
the brain between a non synesthete and a synesthete, a non synesthete has the
potential to experience synesthetic like symptoms while being under the influence of
a drug. But unlike genuine synesthesia, that is constantly experienced, drug induced
synesthesia is temporary. Cross activation theory is not relative to drug induced
synesthesia because these individuals do not have an increase in communication

Masculinity Of Clytemnestra
In this paper, I will discuss the different ways Clytemnestra isn t your typical female
character. In most of Greek mythology women were mostly seen as passive, weak,
and constantly taking orders from men. She was the complete opposite, she was
really a one of a kind. More masculine than some of the men in the stories, and
definitely more masculine than feminine she was a very strong, solid, independent,
powerful character throughout Agamemnon. The story definitely wouldn t be as
controversial as it was if it weren t for the boldness, extremely deceptive tactics,
manipulative ways, and ruthless acts of Clytemnestra. She constantly defied the role
that was given to women in the art of ancient Greece, she paved the way for powerful
women characters for the future.
The story of Agamemnon was really a prime example of the masculinity of
Clytemnestra. From the point in the story where Agamemnon has to sacrifice his
beloved daughter in order to save the people of his empire and go to war, you
could tell that did not sit well with her. I mean it must be the worst thing in the
world to have to sacrifice a child of your own, something that a king had to do. It
makes you think of how great of a king he was to have the balls to do so, but that
decision that he made it stuck with Clytemnestra. It drove her into madness, and
ruthless behavior. She wanted her revenge and she was going to have her revenge no
matter what, she was going to stop at nothing in order to get it. She ruled the

Essay Health. Essay on Health EducationHealth Education Essay in English ...

  • 1. Essay Health Crafting an essay on the subject of health can be both challenging and intricate. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the topic, encompassing various dimensions such as physical, mental, and social well-being. As a writer, delving into the vast realm of health requires a comprehensive understanding of not only medical aspects but also psychological and sociological factors that contribute to overall wellness. One of the primary challenges lies in striking the right balance between scientific rigor and accessibility. Health-related essays often demand accurate information and research to substantiate claims, making it essential to navigate through a plethora of medical literature. Synthesizing this information in a way that is easily comprehensible for a diverse audience can be a daunting task. Moreover, health is a dynamic and evolving field. Keeping abreast of the latest research findings, medical breakthroughs, and societal shifts in attitudes toward health is crucial. This constant influx of information necessitates a continuous effort to stay updated, adding an extra layer of difficulty to the writing process. Another hurdle is the ethical dimension of health discussions. Addressing sensitive topics, respecting diverse perspectives, and avoiding misinformation require a nuanced approach. Balancing the presentation of facts with empathy and cultural sensitivity becomes imperative to ensure the essay is informative without being alienating. Furthermore, the task involves weaving together a cohesive narrative that seamlessly transitions between different aspects of health. Juggling between topics like nutrition, mental health, healthcare policies, and lifestyle factors while maintaining a logical flow can be challenging. In conclusion, writing an essay on health demands not only a sound understanding of medical concepts but also an ability to communicate complex ideas in a manner accessible to a diverse audience. It requires continuous learning, ethical considerations, and adept narrative skills to create a compelling and informative piece. • 3. Jones Blair Company Essay Pontificia Universidad CatГіlica de Chile Facultad de AdministraciГіn AnГЎlisis Caso Jones Blair Company Fecha: 9 Abril 2008 Caso Jones Blair Company Jones Blair Company comercializa preferentemente sus pinturas y artГculos varios relacionados en el estado de Texas. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
  • 4. The Purpose Of President John F Kennedy s Exploration Of... The purpose for President John F. Kennedy s putting a man into space and developing a national space organization was national prestige (Compton). Russian had already taken leaps ahead of us in the exploration of space by the successful launch of the Sputnik satellite and the success of Yuri Gagarin being the first human to journey into outer space (Doran). Kennedy also fulfilled the role of a true leader by giving the county direction in the form of a difficult and worthy goal. Subsequently, the space race had begun and the entire county had become spectators. It was the marriage of government and scientist which eventually lead to the building of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration also known as NASA. Many of the developments
  • 5. Literary Analysis Of Absalom And Achiophel By John Dryden Absalom and Achiophel : the wondrous satirical poem written by John Dryden himself which features the many different ways of inviting humorous and satirical aspects of the Popish plot to light. George Villiers, the second duke of Buckingham, was no exception for Dryden. So much so that the footnotes of the couplets involving George even states that the section on George was The least political of the satirical portraits in the poem (Noggle, 2226). Claiming that George Villiers, in Dryden s eyes, was not fit to be a leader in the Popish plotwas an extreme understatement as he painted an overwhelmingly satirical image of how George was not only incapable of making an impact in the Popish plot, but is upright a fool to society. Dryden, in the process of painting this satirical imagery, also uses George as an example of showing consequentialism in action. In Absalom and AchitophelDryden begins with writing how George Villier only positive credential of being part of the popish plot is that he comes from his royalty in Buckingham as his other credentials lack in uniqueness when compared to the other members of society. He eludes that George Villier became a chief of the Popish plot because he was one of the princes of the land (543). Ironically, however, this is followed up by Dryden describing him as A man so various, that he seemed to be / Not one, but all mankind s epitome (545 546). Claiming him to be a chief in this context is ironic in the sense that he
  • 6. The Comparsion Of Tone In Cavafy s Ithaca Both Cavafy and Chahine s alter ego went through the phase of loathing Alexadnria, nonetheless, both of them had moved on. Cavafy s Ithaca is a sign of how he came to understand that: for those who keep their thoughts raised high and their spirit and body turned to rare excitement, the city can become the impetus for a great voyage that will lead them through pleasure and knowledge to an understanding, among other things of their city s metaphoric significance in this case the reflection of their elevated, adventurous spirit (Keeley 37). As Cavafy spent more time in the city and matured there, he came to see the beauty of Alexandria. After all the morbid poems he wrote about how he feels trapped in the city, in an unpublished note, the poet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adel and Tommy are separated by death while Sarah and Ibrahim are separated by war and imprisonment. Thus, both relationships depend heavily on memory, a recurrent motif in Cavafy s poems. In Gray the speaker tries to remember to face of his departed beloved saying Memory, keep them the way they were./ And, memory, whatever of that love you can bring back, / whatever you can, bring back tonight (9 11) just how Sarah was remembering Ibrahim s face while in Palestine. Craftsman of Wine Bowls depicts the speaker trying to recall the body and the face of his lover who died in war, speaking to his memory saying: O memory, I begged / for you to help me most in making / the young face I loved appear the way it was (7 9). Like Adel and Tommy, Cavafy s imaginary Hellenistic lovers Markos and Lanis of Tomb of Lanis are separated by death. Markos is remembering how a painter was struck by Lanis s beauty and asked to paint

After finding evidence of a shark attack Chief Brody intends to close the beaches, however Mayor Vaughn and several other key islanders are flat against the beach closing, mainly for economic reasons. Chief Brody initially backs down about the beach closings, however once the shark attacks came again to the shores of Amity, the beaches were closed. It was an island consensus to hire a shark killer (Quint) to solve the problem, regardless of the hefty fee he charged. It turned out not to be so simple a problem especially for Quint. Once the size of the shark was estimated it created another issue for Amity with the very limited equipment and expertise they had available on the small, isolated island, they had to reach out for expert help (Matt Hooper, Oceanographer). As Jaws continued to attack Amity s beaches it was finally seen for its actual size, that is when Chief Brody made the statement of you re gonna need a bigger boat , which was not written in the original screenplay and has become known as the most memorable line in the movie. Jaws is suspense filled and the music score for the shark attack was developed perfectly to create further suspense, while the music played one watched, glued to the screen waiting to see what was going to happen next. I would not recommend this movie to young children because of the blood, guts and gore

Today, many wonder how history would be different if Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated, and what he would have included in his farewell address . In his Gettysburg Address, Lincoln addressed the fact that the war was not fought for nothing, and that the lives that were lost served for the freedom and equality of the country. In this speech, he makes the people of America feel proud to be American, and gives them a reason as to why they are fighting. Later, when he is once again re elected, in his Second Inaugural Address, Abraham Lincoln states that the Civil War in a sense brought them together, and together they will reconstruct the country and live in peace and harmony. This has lead us to the question, can the more modern, social media, make up for the lack of success that traditional media has had in fulfilling this watchdog role for the people? Kemp s rules of CIDRA1 apply to social media as they do with traditional media. Thus, we must determine what, if any, obstacles are present in preventing social media from completing this role. More specifically, do the five filters that Chomsky highlights apply to social media as they do to traditional media? Or does the fundamental structure of social media allow for it to accomplish a fifth estaterole? I argue that social media is more effective at playing a watchdog role than traditional media. Social media is built on a platform that has the interest of working for the people in terms of freedom of distributing ideas and checking elitepower in liberal democracies. Furthermore, ...traditional media formats are no longer the only politically relevant forms of media (Metzgar, Maruggi, 2009, p. 149). The reason that social media can have higher success in acting as a watchdog role stems from one central theme: when it comes to social media, less of Chomsky s filters lie between the person wanting to distribute an idea and the ability to have this idea delivered to the public. In a system of governance, if a hung parliament occurs, that is, when a parliament has no single party and thus no legitimate way to form a government, the government can actually gain advantages. Instead of a single party majority, minority governments allow multiple parties to govern. A minority government does not hinder a governing party because it promotes accountability to the legislature, which allows a more flexible decision making process, that ultimately provides a Prime Minister different powers to maintain control which allows an efficient government. Under a minority government, no party has ultimate control of making policies, it instead rules on consensus with the other parties, conversely, in a majority government, a single party dominates the legislative process. Though complex agreements between opposition parties, the governing party can maintain confidence. For example, countries including Canada use contract parliamentarism, where opposition parties agree to support the government in return for policy on other concessions (Akash et al., 2010, p. 216). While this promotes collective responsibility, parties are still able to decide their own position on most matters. Therefore, parties collaborate to protect minority agreements that often survive a full parliamentary term (Akash et al., p. 216). This can result in motions being passed that cover a broad variety of different topics that ultimately can address issues that all parties see lacking in

  • 30. Ebenezer Scrooge In A Christmas Carol The story A Christmas Carol is the story of a man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who despises Christmas and everything it stands for. The story has various cause and effect scenarios in which Scrooge eventually sees the error of his ways and comes to terms with the fact that whatever made him hate Christmas to begin with is not worth hating now. Scrooge was a very cruel man throughout a majority of the story, but as the story went on, things began to change. For starters, his reason for not liking the Christmas season was due to the fact that his friend/business partner, Jacob Marley, had died on that day seven years prior, amongst other things. These other things would include losing his love and being abandoned and forgotten as a child. Another,

Humans cannot focus on more than one thing at a time, unlike a computer. We associate multitasking with doing multiple things at once. Computers are considered multitaskers because they can run more than one computer program at a time. Human must shift their focus to whichever task they are working on at the time. Sarah Sparks, writer of the article, Studies on Multitasking Highlight Value of Self Control explains that individuals that efficient are those that know it is best to work on one task and then move on to the next task. Sarah Sparks goes on to explain that individuals who can ignore distractions, stay focused, follow and finish a task through, will produce higher quality work than those who attempt to multitask. Good prioritizing skills play a role in those individuals lives and it allows them to decide which task is more important to focus on first. Steve Mueller writes about using a four quadrantmatrix by Stephen Covey to help organize our lives. Stephen Covey is the author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. The sole purpose of Mr. Covey s four quadrant matrix is to prioritize tasks in relation to their importance and urgency, to help decide whether you need to address a task immediately or if you can postpone it. Ultimately marking the end of World War I, this peace treaty shaped the world we live in today. Some believe that the treaty was based on principles inconsistently applied (Mazower 109). While this allegation is true, the principle of consistency must be upheld in order to match the reform of a broken nation. Others believe that the idea of it being inconsistent isn t the main issue. They consider the main issue behind Versallies was not the inconsistency, but instead the ineffectiveness. This is because it was based upon an inaccurate appraisal of the European balance of power and deprived of the means of its own defense by American withdrawal and British indifference (Mazower 109). The idea of a new, independent country would not be able to ensure its own stability in which two powerhouse countries reigned supreme. This pushed the imperfect contractual arrangement between the parties outside the self enforcing range and led Fisher to take advantage of the fact that GM was contractually obligated to purchase bodies on a cost plus basis. The face serves as a canvas, and like all kinds of artwork, it has its own share of mistakes that you cannot help but make. Makeup is not expected to be perfect on the first try, so it is okay. Below you will read some of the most commonly made makeup mistakes and mishaps. Before putting anything on your face, you have to make sure your face is as clean as it can be. Even in this process people make a number of mistakes. You may have all the products you need, moisturizer, cream, face masks, and so on, but if you leave out the right way to cleaning your face then you might neglect the use of these products in the first place. Dr. Nicholas Perricone, MD, emphasizes that it is a common point of confusion. He speaks on how it should be correctly done and what people are unconsciously doing wrong. Whether you are in your teens, 20s or have mature skin, the basics are the same: To avoid irritation, stay away from scrubbing grains, abrasive pads/washcloths, alcohol based toners and astringents. These can disturb the normal skin pH and produce inflammation and dryness that will age and damage the skin. It is also not a good thing to wash your face with hot water because the temperature will cause your face to get rid of its needed natural oils that will keep the skin from being parched. It is much better to go for either cold water or something lukewarm. Emily Orofino also lists on PopSugar.com makeup mistakes that she has noticed over time. The first to take attention to are the brushes you need for makeup in the first place. No matter what the situation, it is important to keep your makeup brushes clean. When your makeup brushes are not cleaned regularly, you are at a risk of breaking out or messing up your future looks. Everyone has to go through this, even professionals. Another one that is commonly observed is the foundation application process. Of course, it is important to know what shade is the best for us. The problem lies on where we test the shade. Orofino sheds some light on a common mistake that is testing the shade on the back of our hand. When testing the shade on the

Setting an example of how a David could overcome a Goliath, the United States inspired regions such as Latin America to fight for their rights and liberties as well. One such region that embraced the message was Upper Peru, which would later be known as Bolivia. With some key tipping points that caused the war, the leaders of the soon to be formed nation rallied its troops and won several major battles, but even they couldn t prevent the tough times that lay in the early years of the nation. The most prominent of this movement was the uprising in Chuquisaca in 1809, which led to the formation of the Government Juntas. This group focused on taking the power from the Spanish and giving it to the people. Seeing the movement in Bolivia take shape, Latin Nations such as Peru began to provide military support to Bolivian liberators. Philosophers such as Locke, Hobbs, Rousseau, Voltaire, and Wollstonecraft worked to usher in new ideas and different ways of thinking. These ideas and beliefs influenced society in a positive way. Each of these philosophers had different perceptions and beliefs on how a society should function. What was their central idea? The philosophers of the Enlightenment believed in equality and freedom and that society could be improved either economically, socially, politically, or religiously. Adam Smith, a philosopher during the Enlightenment, believed that each man can pursue economics to make money for himself. Adam Smith states, Every man...is left perfectly free to pursue his own interest in his own way (Doc C). Smith is explaining that everyone has the freedom to use their own ways and methods to satisfy their needs and interests. Smith also states, As every individual, therefore, endeavors as much as he can both to employ his capital [money] in the support of ...industry, and so to direct that industry that its produce may be of greatest value; every individual necessarily [contributes to] the annual revenue of the society as great as he can (Doc C). This statement explains that everyone works hard both to support the economy and support themselves. People shouldn t rely on just their economy to survive. Instead, they should work to both help the economy flourish and to provide for themselves. He

Semiotics, rather than dealing with the organization of signs, has to do with how meaning is produced, what makes an utterance meaningful, how it signifies and what precedes it on a deeper level to result in the manifestation of meaning. However, the language used in the Balkans area was mostly Greek, so Romans decided set Greekas the the official language of the Eastern part of the empire. I walked a very conservative area and only spoke with one democrat out of the 50 houses I knocked. There were quite a few people who weren t home and those who were very reluctant to speak with me. One man in particular gave me a speech lesson. He told me that he could not vote for a candidate that was prochoice because he was German and someone who could take the life of a baby is like a Nazi in his eyes. I have never heard that before and totally disagree with him. On the Brightside, he told me that I am doing a great job with speaking the only thing he would change is my nervous tone when I first start

Attachment Theory 4 Bowlby s maternal deprivation hypothesis assumes that continual disruption of the attachment bond between the infant and primary caregiver would result in long term cognitive, social and emotional difficulties for the child. To what extent has research into deprivation and privation supported this view. Bowlby claimed that the role of a mother was essential to a child and without this essential mother figure it would affect the child s psychological health. He called this theory the maternal deprivation hypothesis. Bowlby conducted most of his research through observing orphans and children in care. Bowlby held the view that if a child lacked an attachment to a mother figure it could have major effects on the child s development. It... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bowlby studied the effects of short term deprivation, he concluded that the child goes through three stages of distress. Protest, the child kicks and screams in order to prevent their mother from leaving, Despair the child appears to be apathetic but it still angry about the separation and detachment, when the separation continues the child begins to respond to others again, when reunited with the mother at this stage the child may have to develop a relationship over again. Long term deprivation is a permanent separation through death or divorce. Bowlby concluded that the most common effect of long term deprivation is separation anxiety. Separation anxiety may lead to aggressive behaviour, clingy behaviour, detachment and psychosomatic reactions. Divorce can have a huge effect on a child. Divorce is a long process that can affect a child for a period of years. Most children are affected by divorce but the process can be generally more difficult for boys. According to Hetherington and Stanley Hagan (1999) most children are resilient enough to adapt to their parent divorce after a period of time has passed. The main facotrs of divorce that can affect a child are, how often they see the non custodial parent, the lifestyle or financial implications of being part of a single parent family and if one or both parents remarry, this can cause a massive difference in family life due to the child having to come to terms with their new

Explain Why Some People Should Be Kind To Other People Some people may be familiar with this Bible verse in Proverbs 19:17 which says, Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. or this other Bible verse; It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice from Psalm 112:5. They both talk about generosity in other words, kindness. In today s world, people act in a way based on their morals, culture, logic or based on their religion. Some people have a belief that they should be kind to others because they might receive the same kindness back. But kindness is something much more than what people think it is. It is about acceptance regardless of differences, respect and giving without expectation. 6 years

Compare And Contrast A Rose For Emily And Everyday Use In both short stories, A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner and Everyday Use by Alice Walker, two characters can be described as similar. These characters are very similar in two very different ways. Each character seems to want, and yearn for something that is not theirs. They both feel that they need something, so they become very bitter and vengeful. In A Rose for Emily , Emily, the main character, wanted a man in her life. After her father died many years ago, she felt the need for a man in her life, and along came Homer Barron. Homer Barron was not your typical man, it was stated that he liked men, which at the time was not an indicator of him being homosexul but rather meant that he liked being out with the boys and enjoyed his time away. Therefore Emily could not have him like she wanted. In Everyday Use , Dee desperately wanted Mama s quilt. The quilt was going to be inherited by Maggie instead of Dee. Dee, most of the time, neglected to give the mother the attention that she deserved. She was not a big family person, you could say. While Dee is very accomplished and very bright, she lacked on her interpersonal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In A Rose for Emily Emily had already had a tough life, with her father dying, causing her to be very emotional. When She found a man, she latched on, and never let him go. She killed him so he could be with her forever. The view of Emily as a monument would have been destroyed. Emily might have become the object of continued gossip. (West 74). In Everyday Use , Dee was also quite vengeful, but with her words rather than her actions. Some of Dee s words were very hurtful to the family. After the quilts were promised to Maggie, Dee was furious. Although Maggie is intimidated enough to surrender the beloved quilts to Dee, the mother feels the sudden surge of rebellion. (Ross 732). Both characters were very mean and bitter, therefore they did not initially get what they

In order to have a full comprehension of what synesthesia is, one must be aware that there are many different forms, stages, and theories that help explain synesthesia. According to Simner (2010), over 150 different manifestations of synesthesiahave been discovered (e.g. Certain types of sound may trigger colors, or types of sound may trigger tastes). (p. 558). Although, there are many types of variations, there is no criteria or specific diagnostic that ultimately determines the difference between each characteristic of synesthesia. • 56. Masculinity Of Clytemnestra In this paper, I will discuss the different ways Clytemnestra isn t your typical female character. In most of Greek mythology women were mostly seen as passive, weak, and constantly taking orders from men. She was the complete opposite, she was really a one of a kind. More masculine than some of the men in the stories, and definitely more masculine than feminine she was a very strong, solid, independent, powerful character throughout Agamemnon. The story definitely wouldn t be as controversial as it was if it weren t for the boldness, extremely deceptive tactics, manipulative ways, and ruthless acts of Clytemnestra. She constantly defied the role that was given to women in the art of ancient Greece, she paved the way for powerful women characters for the future. The story of Agamemnon was really a prime example of the masculinity of Clytemnestra. From the point in the story where Agamemnon has to sacrifice his beloved daughter in order to save the people of his empire and go to war, you could tell that did not sit well with her. I mean it must be the worst thing in the world to have to sacrifice a child of your own, something that a king had to do. It makes you think of how great of a king he was to have the balls to do so, but that decision that he made it stuck with Clytemnestra. It drove her into madness, and ruthless behavior. She wanted her revenge and she was going to have her revenge no matter what, she was going to stop at nothing in order to get it. She ruled the
