Example Of Rogerian Argument Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of a "Rogerian Argument" can be quite challenging due to the
unique nature of this approach. Unlike traditional argumentative essays, a Rogerian argument
requires a more empathetic and cooperative tone, emphasizing finding common ground rather
than focusing on differences. This style of writing demands a deep understanding of the
opposing viewpoint, requiring extensive research and thoughtful analysis to present a balanced
perspective.
One of the difficulties lies in the need to maintain objectivity and avoid any semblance of
hostility. The goal is not to persuade through forceful argumentation but rather to foster
understanding and encourage open dialogue. Striking the right balance between presenting your
own stance and acknowledging the validity of opposing views can be a delicate task, demanding
a nuanced and careful choice of language.
Furthermore, constructing a Rogerian argument involves a meticulous organization of ideas to
ensure a smooth flow of discussion. The essay should progress logically, guiding the reader
through the exploration of different perspectives while consistently emphasizing shared values
and common goals.
In addition to the intellectual challenges, there is a significant emotional component to writing a
Rogerian argument. Empathizing with views that may differ drastically from your own can be
mentally taxing, requiring a high level of patience and open-mindedness.
Ultimately, while challenging, mastering the art of crafting a Rogerian argument can be a
rewarding experience, fostering not only improved writing skills but also a deeper understanding
of diverse viewpoints. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that there are resources
available. Expert guidance and custom essays tailored to specific requirements can be accessed
through various platforms like HelpWriting.net, where a wealth of writing services is offered
for academic support.

How Did The Meiji Restoration Change In Japanese Culture
From 1868 to 1912, Japan experienced a period of vigorous reform and modernization
called the Meiji Restoration. When the Meiji period began Japan was a militarily
weak, mostly agricultural country that could not compete against the industrialized
western nations. At the end of the restoration, Japan had achieved a working, highly
centralized government supported by the people, a constitution implementing an
elected parliament, a western like transport and communication system, a highly
educated population, a rapidly growing industrial economy, and a powerful army and
navy on par with many of the western nations . Japan s story is one of great success,
unity, and pride, one that is virtually unrivaled throughout modern human history. The

One of the first things that the Meiji leaders did was to abolish the 700 year old
feudal system. This allowed people to pursue careers previously not open to them,
and granted them much more freedom. To appease the belligerent samurai who were
opposed to change, the Japanese government gave each of them a yearly stipend,
which was later changed to a one time payment in Government bonds. Another
thing that the government did was to establish a national education system based
on the western model. Most of the people in Japan attended these schools for at
least six years, where they were not only taught the normal subjects, but also moral
training in which the Japanese were conditioned for loyalty to their country,
emperor, and family. Japan also put in place an elected parliament, or Diet , and put
lots of money into acquiring western technologies like the telegraph and rail roads.
A modern tax system was also put in place to pay for these projects; taxes were paid
with money rather than rice. All of these actions set up an environment that
encouraged great economic growth. Because of the social drive to modernize, the
Japanese people, in general, were more than willing to adopt these new technologies,
and therefore strive for a better
How To Reduce Student Loans
Higher education is important and many students do their best, take courses they
need. When a student finally graduates college, they become so excited to apply
what they have just learned in college to their chosen field. However, one problem
occurs after graduation students realize that they have a high student loan. Student
loans are huge in today s society and many people try to find ways to fix student
loans. Student loans can be fixed by having a financial aid to low income students
while having free tuition for other income students, having consequences for failing a
class. Student loans are big part in today s society. So many students graduate with
such high amounts of student loans that they would never be able to pay off. The loans

Many students receive scholarships, grants and many other government aids, and
think that since college is technically free then they can do whatever they want. A
lot of student receiving a scholarship or a grant sometimes loose it due to their poor
grades. Website called three mistakes that will cost you a college scholarship
written by Jacob Davidson who is a news editor at Time. He previously worked at
Money as a reporter/producer, covering tech, the economy, and everyday finance,
says, Even students receiving Pell grants, which are federally funded need based aid,
will lose their assistance if they don t meet standards of satisfactory academic
progress. (Davidson). When education is free or when its mostly covered by financial
aid, students sometimes tend to slack of thinking that nothing will happen and that
they can just retake the course; losing a scholarship because of failing a grade is
easy but receiving it back is hard. In addition, the article says, But the pride of
winning a scholarship obscures for many students a tough reality: Getting that
scholarship renewed for your whole college career isn t a sure thing. (Davidson).
Having consequences will make students take their education more seriously
because they would not want to pay for failing a class or for having a low GPA.
This will help student loans, because students will do their best, to not retake the
course again and pay each time. People might say that getting a good GPA is hard
for students in colleges and that so many students will end up dropping or paying
college. Maintaining a good GPA does require a lot of hard working but if the try

Essay about New Urbanism
New Urbanism
New Urbanism, a burgeoning genre of architecture and city planning, is a movement
that has come about only in the past decade. This movement is a response to the
proliferation of conventional suburban development (CSD), the most popular form of
suburban expansion that has taken place since World War II. Wrote Robert
Steuteville, Lacking a town center or pedestrian scale, CSD spreads out to consume
large areas of countryside even as population grows relatively slowly. Automobile use
per capita has soared, because a motor vehicle is required for nearly all human
transportation 1. New Urbanism, therefore, represents the converse of this planning
ideology. It stresses traditional planning, including multi purpose zoning, ... Show

Drawing upon the lessons of urban revitalization, Seaside also utilizes a strong
network of neighborhood associations that not only work to continuously beautify the
area but collect dues to ensure that it is done so.4
Perhaps the most definitive example of New Urbanism has been DPZ s project,
Kentlands, a 352 acre community in Gaithersburg, Maryland begun in 1990. An
oasis of good planning in a sea of suburbia, it is not only a model of Traditional
Neighborhood Design (TND) but also the predecessor to many other such
neighborhoods developed within CSD areas. In Kentlands, much like Seaside, the
Citizens Assembly runs a recreation center and provides for common maintenance of
public areas. Civic buildings and shopping in mixed use buildings are within walking
distance of the development s six architecturally distinct neighborhoods. This compact
design reduces auto traffic significantly, allows children to go about their daily
business without requiring a mother chauffeur and puts workplaces near their
employees.5
Unique character is worked into the community s design wherever possible:
Kentlands has idiosyncrasy and imperfections intentionally. Authentic variety is
achieved by allowing odd, leftover lots to remain, forcing the design of a building
for just that lot. We insisted that the imprecision of design sketches be reflected in
the built work. It took years for the engineers to get used to not straightening every
street or making every

Celebration On July 14, 2015 I made a trip down to Celebration to see the art
gallery at the Bohemian Hotel. Every single time I enter the town of Celebration I
fall more in love. Well, today I realized that art galleries do not need to be big, to be
impressive. As I arrive to the hotel I get to take in the beautiful architectural design
of the hotel. Inside I get the pleasure of seeing more than 75 different art pieces.
The whole reason I wanted to go to this specific location was, because someone had
told me that there was glasswork throughout the hotel. However, the small yet
impressive art gallery captured my attention more. The hotel had art pieces all
over, but I got all caught up in a corner where local artists, Nina Buxton, Huston
Llew, and Phillip Anthony; had their beautiful pieces of art. Nina Buxton s
Cypress Tree II, was very impressive. The painting is done on a canvas with oil
paint and the palette knife technique. There are two individual pieces and each piece
measures 12X36. They are side by side and both are landscape pictures. They appear
to capture the same landscape. Although, the painting appears to be a... Show more

The House Of Scorpion Character Analysis
In the story The House of Scorpion , written by Nancy Farmer, the main characters
are Matteo Alacran who is a clone from El Patron. Matteo was made by a scientist
in lab in the mexican border. Another main character is Matt s caregiver which is a
woman named Celia, where she worked at the Big House. Lastly, the third main
character is El Patron, who is a powerful drug lord of opium in mexico. The main
settings is in the future where they now know the knowledge of cloning. The main
problem is that Matt is a clone and this makes Matt bad and unwanted to the normal
people. This makes Matt a bad person because he is not normal to hang around with
people. Also, the conflict is that El Patron is using Matt as a way to stay alive. At
the end of the story, Matt was now older and became leader of Mexico and opium.
Another detail the happened at the end of the story is the everyone died except
Celia, Mr. Ortega, Matt s music teacher, and Daft Donald, who is a bodyguard of El
Patron.
My opinion on Celia is that she is a fearless, amorous, and smart because she doesn t
mind talking about life situations, she loves Matt although other people don t and
knows lots of duties. The three reasons I think these traits follow with Celia is that in
the book, The House of the Scorpion on page 125 it states I m not supposed to talk to
you about this. This shows that Celia doesn t mind talking about things she wasn t
supposed to. This also shows she s not scared to talk about situations that Matt saw
while telling the truth and not lying to him. Another trait Celia has is amorous
because on page 10 it states I love you more than anything in the world. Lastly, she
s smart because on page 142 it quotes She taught me all kinds of things. This quote
reminds me of my dad, because my dad is very talented in many ways and taught me
lots of things that are useful in life.
Based on a judgement, one prediction that I can refer on this story is that Matt will
become leader of Mexico and opium after El Patron dies and everyone will love him.
Another thing I possibly believe that Matt will do is, free people who were treated as
slaves. One thing I believe that will change or become different is, the hatred of
clones after seeing how

D Day Was The Turning Point Of The Normandy
The Second World War and Normandy
World War II commenced in September 1939. This war impacted the entire world
and was fought between the Allied powers (the United States, Britain, France,
Russia, Canada, and later Russia) and they opposed the Axis powers, namely a
coalition led by Nazi Germany including Japan, Bulgaria and Hungary. This was
truly a world war which most countries globally were drawn into and affected by.
This is cited as the largest war to date. The reasons for the war arose from Nazi
Germany s attempt to dominate and control Europe beginning with the invasion of
Poland. As a result the Commonwealth and France declared war on Germany. In
1941 a massive, mainly amphibious, attack which was termed Operation Overlord
was launched. The strategy was to ensure Normandy beach was secured as this
was perceived as the gateway to the rest of Europe. It had military and
psychological significance as Nazi Germany had been aggressively dominating
European territory and it was seen as necessary for his regime to be neutralised.
The Allied forces realised that Nazi Germany needed to be cauterised and occupied
so that the war could be won. The battle at Normandy, also known as D day was the
turning point of the war because this spearheaded the liberation of Europe from the
facist Nazi invasion. It marked the beginning of the end of the war. ... Show more

and more. By 2011, Amazon was raking in a staggering fifty billion dollars in
revenue (Sawhney, 2014). Since the beginning, Amazon has been known to invest in
emerging opportunities, even before they were known to be profitable (Sawhney,

other benefits, featured a six inch screen and 168 hour battery life (Sawhney,

tablet in 2011, both of which featured access to third party Apps available in the

released which featured a slew of new benefits, from faster processor speed to high
resolution front and back facing cameras (Sawhney, 2014). Apple seemed to have
created a device perfectly balanced somewhere between a smart phone and a laptop
and consumers loved it, reflected in Apple s sixty seven percent market share in 2011

Avoid Sarcastic Remarks If a child loses a game or fails a test, find out how he or

to Play To children, play is just fun. However, playtime is as important to their
development as food and good care. Playtime helps children be creative, learn
problem solving skills and learn self control. Good, hardy play, which includes
running and yelling, is not only fun, but helps children to be physically and
mentally healthy. Children Need Playmates Sometimes it is important for children
to have time with their peers. By playing with others, children discover their
strengths and weaknesses, develop a sense of belonging, and learn how to get along

Pros And Cons Of Non Native Plants
Do you know the affects non native plants have on the Arizona landscape? There
are many invasive plants that are destroying our landscape . I m going to be
sharing the pros, and cons the non native plants have on the Arizona landscape. In
my opinion the spread of invasive plants is more harmful to our native landscape
than it is beneficial. A native plant is a plant that evolves in a particular area for a
long period of time. They also adapted to the weather change in that specific area,
As well as worked alongside other plants to provide habitat for wildlife. A non
native plant is a plant that originates from a particular place and was put some
place else by accident. The dangers of having a non native plant in a place in which
it did not originate is harmful because our wildlife eat the native plants and if a non
native plant evolves in that area and the animals eat it there is no telling what harmful
side effects that specific plant will have on that animal.... Show more content on

ESTIMATION OF GROWTH RATES
The value of a firm is ultimately determined not by current cash flows but by
expected future cash flows. The estimation of growth rates in earnings and cash
flows is therefore central to doing a reasonable valuation. Growth rates can be
obtained in many ways: they can be based upon past growth; drawn from estimates
made by other analysts who follow the firm; or related to the firm s fundamentals.
Since each of these approaches yields some valuable information, it makes sense to
blend them to arrive at one composite growth rate to use in the valuation. This chapter
examines different approaches to estimating future growth, and discusses the
determinants of growth.

Sigmund Freudian Clips
Freudian Clips...
In 1923 Sigmund Freud authored a paper called The Ego and the Id, which is an
analytical study of the human psyche. Called the Structural Theory, this theory
categorizes psychological conditions into three divisions: the Id, the Super Ego,
and the Ego. The Id is best thought of as a newborn child driven by instinctive
drives and impulses and seeks instant gratification. The Super Ego is the
multiplicative inverse of the Id, representing a father figure and a moral compass.
The Ego serves as the mediator between the Id and the Super Ego and takes into
account external factors to derive a clear view of reality. The theory has spurred
much discussion in the scientific community, but the concept is firmly seated in

The Id like person throws caution to the wind, takes risks without thinking through
implications, and allows the dreamer in him to lead his actions. The Super Ego
like person is highly risk averse, needs to have near perfect information before
making a decision, and never, ever, swims until at least 30 minutes after eating. The
Ego like person has drive and is willing to take risks, but seeks to understand
situations enough to take calculated risks as opposed to foolish risks.
While reading this, you may have thought of a friend or family member who fits
into each of the above categories. You may have also slotted yourself as being
predominantly Id, Super Ego, or Ego like. It also may be situational to where you
are more Id like in certain situations while you are more Super Ego like in others. As
this specifically applies to starting and running your own small business, it is vitally
important that you identify whether you are more Id, Super Ego, or Ego like and that
you balance who you are with others who fit into the other categories; thus the

The Theme Of Life In O Pioneers ! By Willa Cather
It seems that everything in Willa Cather s O Pioneers!, aside from the land, starts
out so full of life and ends so utterly devoid of it. It could even be said that the
characters in the novel become imprisoned by their own lives. Marie is barred by
her love, which, in the end, leaves her quite literally lifeless. Alexandra, who
initially is so full of life, begins to view her life as unimportant and as a prisonhouse.
Even the spirituality of the pioneers is ever declining and dying away. Ultimately it
is Frank who embodies the idea most obviously; in his youth Frank lives the life of
a happy, handsome man, yet his life ends in utter despondence and literal
imprisonment. How is it that all of these things can be drained of life while the
American land is thriving with it? One could see the relationship between the land
and the people that live on it as the American dreamand those who live that dream.
Invariably, the people who contribute to the flourishing of the land also contribute to
the fallowness of their own life, just as those who indulge in the American Dream
lose not only themselves, but their own dreams to it. Marie s case is a tragic one.
Maries lovefor her husband begins strong; she is madly in love with him, but the
labor that he puts into the land changes him into a hard man which she can no
longer love. It is the land, the great American dream, that changes Frank and it is the
land, which strips Marie of all love for him. When she falls in love with Emil,
The Marble Source Of Phhosphorus To Lake Michigen
There could be a hypothetical leak into lake michigan. All of the great lakes are
connected so the leak from lake erie is able to travel to any other body of water i tis
connected to. In order for the leak to travel to lake michigan the chemicals would
have to travel through Lake Huron first. This is a large lake and it would take a
while to get to Lake Michiganthrough lake Huron. Even though there is a great
distance between Lake Michigan and Lake Erie, the Phosphorus could definitely
travel through Lake Huron overtime. Not only are the chemicals able to be
transported through lake heron, but it can also be transported through the
underground water like the water tables. Therefore, this plant should be labeled as a

The second sculpture would be the one in the best condition in 100 years.
The school that would have the best view for the observation tower would be
Northview Elementary school. This school has an elevation above sea level of 835
feet. Benjamin Franklin Middle School has an elevation of 796 feet above sea
level. Hayes Leonard Elementary school has an elevation of 728 above sea level. As
seen in these elevations, Northview would have the highest view point, with the
added 40 feet of the observation tower, for the children to view the weather patterns
and clouds.
Scenario 2
The more difficult route of the two routes would be the one that starts 10 miles
upstream and ends up back in the town of Jim Thorpe. The elevation at the starting
point of the more difficult route is 765 feet and the ending point is 524 feet. The
distance is 10 miles which means the gradient is 24.1 feet per mile. The less
difficult routes starting point elevation is 522 feet and ending point is 386 feet. The
distance was again 10 miles, this means the gradient is 13.6 feet per mile. Gradient is
found by taking the lower elevation and subtract that from the upper elevation, then
divide the difference by the distance. The route traveling to the town of Jim Thorpe
has larger gradient which means the water in this path will flow faster. The faster the
water flows the more difficult the path is. Therefore the more difficult path would be
the path starting upstream and traveling
Compare And Contrast The Conflict Between North And
South...
The War Between The Two Korea s
The Korean war, began in June of 1950, and ended with a truce in July of 1953.
It was started because of the US and Russia not being able to come to an agreement.
And it ended with threats of an atomic bombing. However the bigger issues that
created
this conflict still affect us to this day.
There are many issues, creating conflict between North and South Korea.
Most of these problems stem from the fact that North Korea is a communist nation and
South Korea is a democratic nation. Also the fact that North Korea was run by a
dictator
and still is, is another major factor. The 38th parallel has been transformed into the
demilitarized zone. A zone that has made it difficult to lower tensions because of all

On the other hand South Korea saw the war as a bad event that could end the world.
Successful programs in stopping the Korean war were all of the peace treaties
and the final threat of bombing North Korea, to end it all. There was one unsuccessful
programs in stopping the Korean war. That one unsuccessful attempt in stopping the
Korean war was when South Korea tried fighting back alone. That was the one
unsuccessful attempts at stopping the war.
The Korean war still affects us today, even though it ended in 1953. The Koreas
still has a wall that has armed guards posted all over it. With all the armed guards
tensions are kinda high a war could break out at any moment. There is still talk of war,
especially since North Korea has developed nuclear weapons. War is very close at
hand with North Korea having such dangerous weapons.
I feel like this a problem because North Korea could start a war just like the one
before but involving more than 5 countries. Some ideas that could help stop this
is we could have everyone that has nuclear weapons to dismantle them and get rid of
them properly. Now you might say that it won t work and it might not. What if there

Summary Of Robert Fischell Speech
Robert Fischell is an inventor of medical devices. His goal is to educate the audience
with an informative speech about his three inventions that he believes can have a
significant positive effect on millions of people. The first invention he describes
consists of a device implanted into a patient to detect acute myocardial infection
(AMI). The second inventionis a device that helps eliminate migraineheadaches. The
third invention details the best way to treat epilepsy through a responsive electrical
treatment. Robert Fischell delivered the speech in acceptance of his 2005 TEDaward
in an official conference. His credibility cannot be doubted as he is the inventor of
other well known medical devices such as, the rechargeable pacemaker, the insulin
pump, and a pre cursor to GPS. The speaker s fascinating inventive capability, and
determination to make the world a better place, adds to his credibility. The TED
conference consisted of approximately a thousand people from different fields such
as technology, design, business, science, entertainment, as well as the non profit
world. The audience is not only limited to the live audience as millions of people can
access the 26:46 minute speech through the internet and mass media. The speaker
used a hook effectively to draw the audience into the speech. He starts by noting that
the speech is aimed at discussing the invention that can have an impact on ten to a
hundred million people. With such a remarkable statement, everyone would be
interested to know the details of his inventions. At the same time, he mentions his
previous inventions, stents, and insulin pumps for the diabetic, which he discussed in
the prior film. This creates trust among the audience about the speaker s credibility.
The speech s opening fully establishes the intention of the presentation.
Speech Content and Structure
The presentation was entirely focused on the primary objective of the speech and
uses a problem and solution technique. Fischell s argument relates to how disease
occurs, and how his inventions would contribute towards solving the problem. For
instance, Fischell states that a migraine headache is an occurrence similar to an
electrical impulse. His equipment would create a
Drinking on College Campuses
Drinking on College Campuses Underage students drinking on college campuses has
been a problem for countless years. Parents and professors look over the problem of
students drinking and look at their college life in a positive way. They understand the
students to be studying, making new friends, or working. Instead, an abundance of
students are partying and drinking at these parties. The transformation from high
school to college causes stress to the students. Therefore, instead of the students
looking towards studying more, they start partying to solve their problems. Once they
start partying, it gets harder for them to stop and they become depressed. Students
drinking at college has become a provision for them, thinking it would help with their
stress and problems rather than causing other predicaments.
Parents would like to think that their children are doing what they re expected to do
while at college rather than drinking and partying. According to Lucy E. Napper who
wrote What Are Other Parents Saying? Perceived Parental Communication Norms
and the Relationship Between Alcohol Specific Parental Communication and College
Student Drinking, states parents perceive their children to be studying and making
new friends. The parents presume their children to be cramming in plenty of
studying for the upcoming classes (Napper 6, 7). According to Paul J. Gruenewald
who wrote A Dose Response Perspective on College Drinking and Related Problems,

Multiple Signs Of Infection, Retinal Vascular Sheathing...
Our patient presented with multiple signs of infection, which can t initially be
pinpointed to one disease alone. The three important signs to initially address and
understand the science behind are perivasculitis, retinal vascular sheathing and retinal
hemorrhages. All three medical definitions appear straightforward and all very
similar, but the combination of the three leads to a serious diagnosis and urgency for
this patient.
Perivasculitis is an inflammation of a sheath surrounding the tissue 1. In class we
discussed the differences between perivasculitis and periflabitis. Perivasculitis should
be white because of the inflammation and the white blood cells then spilling out. The
Prefix peri means around, or on the outside of the tissue. Retinal vascular sheathing
is sheathing or cuffing of blood vessels and vitreous cells . The swelling or cuffing
of blood vessels in the retinal layer is a serious condition and is often associated with
vasculitis. Finally, a retinal hemorrhage is abnormal bleeding of the vessels in the
retina 2. Retinal hemorrhages can be caused for a variety of reasons such as
injuries like forceful blows or accidents and falls, as well as adverse health
conditions. We know that the loss of vision can be largely attributed to the excess
debris that is currently located in the eye, the debris being blood that is leaking out.
Our case states that he has no previous trauma however, proving that there is an
ulterior cause to the acute onset of the
Circuit City Corporation
Circuit City went bankrupt mainly due to its failed efforts to distinguish itself
among its competition. For example, Circuit City s prices on household appliances
could not compare to those of Sears, Wal Mart, and Home Depot. Similarly, when
McCollough decided to stop selling major appliances, and rebrand by selling more
cutting edge, consumer electronics products and remodeling the stores, Circuit City
turned into an inferior version of a Best Buy store. By pouring money into the
remodeling efforts and rebranding campaign, Circuit City not only lost capital, but
also its distinct image. In 2003, Circuit City s announcement that 3,900
commissioned sales staff would be laid off was the tipping point in its demise.
Having lost the main feature that differentiated Circuit City from its competitors,
especially Best Buy, there was no hope of recovery. As Best Buy s sales increased
and operating profits improved, Circuit City s weakening financial results and low
stockprice indicated the end was near. In conclusion, Circuit City s attempts to
rebrand and remodel resulted in it becoming more like other better brands and put the
company in a fiscal crisis.

other retail stores and malls struggled this past year. The combination of increases in

US Navy Chief Pinning Ceremony
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines tradition as a way of thinking, behaving,
or doing something that has been used by the people in a particular group, family,
society, etc., for a long time (2011). The Navy is full of formal traditions such as
saluting honors to the flag or senior personnel. One such tradition is the Chief s
Pinning Ceremony. The Chief s Pinning Ceremony is a formal tradition, the first
ceremony taken place on September 16, 1960. In 1959 the collar device of an
golden fouled anchor was the emblem of a Chief in the Navy. This anchor distinguish
the Chiefs the junior enlisted Sailors(Leuci 2015). The following year on September
16, 1960 the first Chief Pinning Ceremony took place starting a long lasting tradition
in the United States Navy.
The Navy is uniquely different from the other armed forces when promoting E 6 to

Eligibility does not guarantee advancement. Every First Class Petty Officer, E 6,
eligible for advance to Chief, E 7, undergoes a massive selection and ranking board.
Board members consist of Master Chiefs, E 9, the highest enlisted rank, who hand
select which of the eligible First Class Petty Officers will be advance to Chief.
According to the Navy Times each year 3,811 to 4,352 Sailors are eligibly for
advancement to Chief. However only 15% of those eligible Sailors, roughly 1 in 7,
make Chief each year (Faram 2015). Once
Reflection Paper On FFA
When I walked into my first FFA meeting in 7th grade, I never knew how much of
an impact that organization would have on my life. The National Future Farmers of
America Organization was the last thing I thought I would be interested in because
I had no desire to be a farmer; but, the club meetings got me out of class which was
all that mattered to me at the time. I was in FFA every year, yet I never realized the
opportunities that came with being involved until the end of my sophomore year
when Mr. Johnson, my agrotechnology teacher, talked me into screening for the
officer team. Even though I knew only very little about agriculture, and even less
about FFA, I somehow made the team and started my journey as an FFA officer and
discovered my passion for agriculture.
It was only about a month after I made the officer team that we got to go to state
convention. When we started out towards Orlando I had no idea how big the
convention really was. I just kept thinking about our small county where FFA was
such a big deal, but it never occurred to me that it was just as big in many other
schools, from big cities to small towns, all over the state. When we attended the first
session I was immediately overwhelmed the minute I walked in the doors and saw
4,500 FFA members proudly wearing the blue corduroy jacket that is the symbol of
the organization. Everyone settled into their seats and the state officer team
proceeded with the opening ceremonies. They delivered their parts which they
The Drinking Age Should Not Be Lowered
In today s society, underage drinking is seen all around us. It is in TV shows,
movies, schools, and even in our own communities. Although it may be understood
as something we are not supposed to do, many of these shows do not depict the
real issues that can come from drinking under age. While only 11% of the alcohol
sold in America is consumed by those under the age of twenty one, it is still a
horrific, nationwide problem. Alcohol is a drug that can make you do things you
would never consider doing when you are sober and is very dangerous on top of
that. These things can potentially hurt you and hurt those around you. The legal age
for the consumption of alcohol should not be lowered because alcohol can affect the
health of young people in many detrimental ways, it causes thousands of alcohol
related vehicle accidents every year, not even including those that are underage, and
it is one of the leading causes of sexual assault. The drinking age should not be
lowered because it can catastrophically affect the health of young people who
consume it. The teenage body is still growing. Physically, alcohol can stunt growth,
causing shorter limbs, shorter height, and frail bone density which can lead to
broken bones during normal, everyday activities. Alcohol can also affect important
organs from growing, especially those in the reproductive tract causing women and
men to not be able to bear children (NIH). Those under the age of twenty one are
Fall Choral Concert Essay
The Fall Choral Concert was held in Pasadena City College, on Friday November

Westerbeck Recital Hall (CA 140). The performs of this concert were mostly students
of Pasadena City College, whom according to their teacher and conductor Mr.

The Conductor of the Choral Concert was, PCC concert choir and chamber singers,

Additionally, Marina Fortuna Dean was the director of the Opera scenes.
The choir arrangements were pretty consistent during all the plays. There were

left side of the stage. For some plays which needed extra instrument such as guitar,
percussion or cowbell chairs were placed on the right side of the stage for the players
to play the instruments. In the contrary, the orchestra arrangements were not
persistent during the play. Almost each section of the play had its own orchestra
arrangement. However, the conductor stood in the center of the stage for the most
part of the play except for the plays with opera scenes.
The first play was performed by the combined choirs which called You are the new

the end of the concert. The shorter version of the song was as the
Scupltors In The Renaissance Art
The Renaissance tried to recapture more than beauty. It tried to reproduce the truth.
And that is a theme that runs throughout the development of sciences, philosophies,
arts, music and more, throughout this revolutionary period of human history. But if
we take a closer look at some of the sculptures from the Renaissanceera we see, still,
even more than an attempt to bring reality into art, but to bring history to life
somehow through art. Thus we see a number of scupltors in the Renaissance strove
to recapture the feeling and beauty of Greek and Roman sculptures, as well as the
histories behind the characters those sculptures depict. Indeed there are certainly a
number of sculptures made simply in honor of these lost cultures. But if we look
closely and try to compare a random few of these Renaissance sculptures, we find

Penny Synthesis
United states produces 13 billion pennies each year. The Penny coin in America
played a role to our economy/without people noticing too much. People most likely
don t recognize it due to inflation of prices. To public eyes the penny has always
been heated debate topic. Which leads into my paper here. Should the pennybe
eliminated or kept? The penny should not be eliminated from our coins system
because the prices would be rounded(making prices mostly going up), the penny has
need to stay for economy. And the public (average american citizen) view matters and
need to be heard. Even the penny kept costing United States to make then it is worth,
but the benefits of the penny beats out the cost.

US hired by the government. If you use their time better by tracking counterfeiters,
all it does is need for more jobs. Which is good for the US, if we have more people
working and collecting weekly paycheck, then US won t have to worry about Welfare
growing(saving money for the US). Plus with people earning more money from
jobs, they will spend more and the government makes more money. This is best
case scenario for everyone because people get jobs and money while government
spends less on welfare and more tax money! Our economy could get out of this
debt America is facing because if we can t deal with it now, then its major problem

reason is citizen want to keep the penny. Favor Abolishing The Penny?, (Source E).

Naval Warfare Changes
Naval warfare has been adapting and changing to the technology of the time all
throughout the ages. Since the very first battles in the Aegean Sea, between Greek
galleys, to today s massive aircraft carriers, destroyers, and submarines; each
technological step has been taken to try to outdo the opponent. One major step that
naval warfare took was the transition from large numbers of muzzle loading cannons
on either side of the ship to turret guns. The transition from forty to fifty guns
cannons to twelve big guns at the most, had substantial impacts on several aspects of
naval operations. New changes in tactics had to be made to facilitate the use of only
a few guns that could point only one direction at a time. Maritime strategies had to be
adjusted to compensate for the newer, bigger, faster, and more power ships.
Procedures had to be changed to make manning the guns a specific job, but the

Technology always has and always will adapt to the tools of the war at hand. The tool
of war that caused a significant amount of technology adaptation was the gun turret,
which caused new steps to be taken in the fields of radar, automation, and
ammunition specialization. That is how the gun turret impacted technology at sea.
The changes in the tools of war have always caused several impacts on war itself. In
the case of gun turrets, tactics and technology had to make large changes in order to
compensate for the shift in power that it caused. That is how gun turrets impacted

Child Development And Childhood Development
Introduction Childhood development encompasses the cognitive, physical, social,
moral and emotional changes from birth until the end of adolescence (White, Hayes
Livesey, 2013). Throughout childhood, environment and genetics promote or
discourage growth and development. This essay will analyse the cognitive, physical,
social, moral and emotional domains in relativity to my own development from the
prenatal stage until adolescence. Psychological and environmental theories are used to
develop the understanding and connection between each domain and stage of
development. Lastly, this essay will address the controversial nature verses nurture

By responding with care and comfort, this enables for an attachment bond to form
between the infant and caregiver, most commonly the mother (White et al., 2013).
Following on from Bowlby s theory, Mary Ainsworth investigated the theory of
attachment through observing the reactions of infants when their mothers left them
alone with strangers. The investigation was named as the Ainsworth s strange
situation assessment (White et al., 2013). It was discovered through this investigation
that infants who had secure attachments with their mothers were upset when
separated and were easily soothed when the mother returns. This investigation implies
that infants with secure attachment to their mothers show signs of normal social
development.
As an Infant, I was well cared for by my whole family including my mother, father
and sisters. As both my sisters were young adults when I was born this meant I
created strong bonds with them that were similar to the relationship that I had with
my mother, as a result I always had the nurturing that I needed even if my mother
was not there. By receiving all the care that I needed as an infant I was able develop
trusting relationships with my family member and was generally a very happy baby.

Words In Ernestingway s Cat In The Rain By Ernest
Hemingway
The words an author uses in his or her writing are the portal to understanding the
story and its meaning. The fewer the words, the more the reader has to infer about
the aspects of the story. In much of Ernest Hemingway s writing, words are scarce
and, therefore, much more valuable. His inclusion of minute details, like describing
the world around him and what he sees, adds vital information to the story. In order
for the reader to better comprehend the story, Hemingway introduces the reader to
various animals in his writings. The importance of the animals and what they
represent in Hemingway s writingmake up for the lack of details of his minimalist
writing style. The kitten in the short storyCatin the Rain represents the American
woman s desires. Throughout the story, the reader readily concludes that the
marriage between George, the husband, and his wife, whose name is not given, is
not a healthy relationship. Moreover, if one did not pick up on the corrupt nature
of the marriage, the weather indicates a dark and gloomy mood, as it is raining. A
small kitten protected by the top of a table catches the eye of the American wife,
who exclaims numerous times that she wants a kitty . When George fails to
acknowledge her desires, she insists that It s not any fun to be a poor kitty out in the
rain (Hemingway ##). While the woman is talking about the kitten, on the surface,
she is also referring to herself. The cat in the rain is the perfect representation of the

Early civilization of North America
Early civilization of North America With the discovery of America, several emigrants
started moving to this newly discovered land. As a result of this, numerous colonies
were formed in America. The Spanish settlers were the first to immigrate to America.
They formed colonies in the West Indies, Mexico and South America. On the other
hand, English emigrants arrived to New England, Virginia and other parts of America,
which later formed the United States. Immigration to the New World took pace in
the early 1600s and grew from a group of few hundred colonists to a flood of
millions of newcomers. These new settlers started building a new civilization in the
northern region. Immigration of English settlers started long after the settlement of
Spaniards in South America and Mexico. Majority of the English colonists were
those who escaped their homeland to avoid political coercion, to practice their
religions with freedom and to explore new opportunities that were absent in their
homeland. It was the time when England was facing an economic depression and
job opportunities were rare even for skilled people. Immigration of English and
other European settlers was primary due to the political instability in their
homeland. The instable regime of Charles I forced many English people to move to
the New World. In addition to this, the repressive policies of rulers in other parts of
Europeand the destruction because of several wars played a major role in
encouraging Europeans to move
First Amendment And Music Censorship Essay
The First Amendment to the Bill of Rights exists because the Founders of our
country understood the importance of free expression. The First Amendment states
Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press . . .
(Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution 17). One of the
ways the American people use this freedom of speechand expression is through the
creation of the art form known as music. Music s verbal expression bonds our society
through our emotions and experiences. This fundamental right of freedom of
expression is being threatened by public and governmental groups who believe they
have authority to monitor and decide what others should experience. The censorship

prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and on the cover of TIME

finding its roots in the anger and rebellion of young people, and there s nothing new
in older people expressing unrealistic fears about that music (RIAA; History 3 of 4).
History has shown us that what may be initially perceived as objectionable is
actually only the reaction of a new or different experience.
Musicians are protected under the First Amendment equally as any citizen in the
United States of America. They deserve the same basic human rights we all practice,
however the freedom of expression has special relevance for musicians (Hald 1 of

persecution (Hald 1 of 8). Not only does censorship of music threaten the freedom
of speech, but it also threatens a musician s right to promote their work through free
enterprise. Musicians have the freedom to play music in public or private domains,
give concerts, and release CDs (Hald 1 2 of 8). Some concert

my opinion the three most important themes of Angela s Ashesare: destructiveness of
alcohol, importance of religion, and struggles of poverty.
During the whole book Frank s Father s abuse of alcohol is affecting not only
himself but the whole family. When the family was living, in New York, with
Prohibition in full swing, he thought he had died and gone to hell for his sins. Then
he discovered speakeasies and he rejoiced. (McCourt, 3) Malachy McCourt would
drink all the money he earned from working and from money he received from the ...

Frank has a negative idea of religion, Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood,
is the miserable Irish childhood, and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic
childhood (McCourt, 1) Frank s view of religion is affected by what he had to deal
with such as his mother begging the Vincent de Paul Society for food and other
necessities the family needed, as well as, having to present everything he thought
was a sin that in reality was just so,ething every kid did. On the other hand religion
also held a positive side in the family s life because it gave the something to believe
in. For example, when the three children had died the family said they d be able to
join them in heaven one on day. The church also gave Frank an escape where he
could go and feel at peace by being able to pray. Religion bring both peace and
negativity to the McCourt family but in the end religion helped the whole family
have something to believe
Pico s Oration On The Dignity Of Man
In his Oration on the Dignity of Man , Pico explained humanism , which is a set of
principles, perspectives, and logical ideas about the world. Pico describes how
humans are different from other creatures of this world. He finished his Oration on
the Dignity of Man to accompany his 900 theses in which he provided us with the
complete discovery of knowledge and structural pyramid for humancreation called the
chain of being. Pico explained that God had created all creatures, who would
appreciate this world that he created. There was no room in the chain of being, all
the openings from angels to worms had been filled, so God created man who had
no specific position in the chain of being. In addition, Pico explained that universe
is made up of three levels of being, rising from the material world through the
spiritual, to the super spiritual or intelligible. As man is made for God, so everything
else is made for man.
Pico argued that human beings can accomplish whatever they want if they set their
heart to it.

In contrast to Pico, Martin Luther believed that there is a will in man, but it is not
free. He described that we are dominated by evil (Satan), which encourage us to
commit sin. Also if we listen to Satan we are going on his will not our own. Luther
thought that faith and free will are not just enough to make a human being good
and satisfied. In The Bondage of the Will he described that we have to work on
ourselves to brighten our soul and get salvation. We can get salvation and
redemption for our sins by believing on the power of God. Trust in God s existence
has to be build; it does not just come by hearing it from others. Luther believed that
we can seek forgiveness and be absolved after confessing in front of priest. We cannot
judge God s giving and it is clear that humans cannot be saved unless the grace of
God works in them. God s grace is a necessary condition for our
Galileo s Condemnation Of Grace Summary

The Catholic Church s Authority vs. Galileo s Correctness
In his Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina and Ballarmine, Galileo s disagreement
about the relationship between Copernicanism and Scripture was rooted in Galileo s
views of the separation between theology and astronomy. The purpose of this letter
was to show that the Catholic Church s condemnation of Conpernicanism is
inappropriate since Galileo claims that arguments about the physical world have no
bearing on church authority, as it was properly understood. I will argue that the
Catholic Church s rejection of Galileo s ideas was because of the Church s desire for
control.
As a religious man, Galileo concluded that for the physical conclusions of celestial
motions (in astronomical and geometrical aspects), the Bible alone cannot explain
the physical meanings, I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has
endowed us with senses, reason and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Galileo s astronomical claims became public, it was a large blow to The
Church. The Church claimed that he was undermining the power of Scripture. If it
had publically accepted Galileo s claims, the Church s authority would be further
questioned. By suggesting that the earth revolved around the Sun, Galileo was
questioning centuries of what people regarded to be the truth, and this did not sit
well with the Church leaders. However, he did explain that he was not questioning
the Bible itself, but questioning the interpretation of the Bible by those in positions
of spiritual authority. In all likelihood, there were people within the realm of the
Church who believed Galileo. They were not able to assert their views because of
the poor image of diminishing authority. Interestingly, there was no solution to not
being able to speak out about one s views if they were opposing the
William H. Harrison s Presidency
How many times has something in your life gone drastically different than
planned? Perhaps something ironic. Ever since William H. Harrison s presidency
in 1840, every American president elected in a year ending with an 0 has died while
in office. JFK was the last president to continue this sequence. It was election year
again and Kennedy took a trip to Texas in purpose of running for a second term. The
Kennedy family left Washington D. C. on Thursday, November 21st. They flew into
San Antonio, Houston, and Fort Worth and they arrived to Texas in the early
afternoon the next day.
As Kennedy was riding with his wife through Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas,
crowds of his supporters gathered to watch and wave. As the convertible was ... Show

While Gilbert was patiently waiting, he heard on the radio some of the most shocking
news. President John F. Kennedy was murdered. Baffled by the news, Pieper sat in
shock and there was nothing he could do but sit and take in the news. Kennedy was a
great man and so many people wondered why someone would murder such an
important symbol of our country. Later that afternoon, Vice President, Lyndon B
Johnson, was admitted to take over. It was announced at two thirty pm that day and
Johnson became the thirty sixth president of the United States.
President Johnson got to the hospital as fast as he could. He stayed until he heard
the dreadful news, then went back to the airport and got on the plane. The plane
was already holding Kennedy s body inside his casket. Others on the plane back to
Washington included the new chief executive, and his wife, as well as Mrs.
Kennedy. When the plane arrived back at the White House, Johnson gave a speech
this is a sad time for all people. We have suffered a loss that can not be weighed..
(Wilentz, Sean). Johnson had much sympathy for the citizens of his nation.
Two days following the tragedy, Lee Harvey Oswaldwas arrested for the
assassination of John F. Kennedy. While he was being transported into the Dallas
police station, he was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. Jack Ruby was a local club

Circumcision Of The Heart Essay
Circumcision of the Heart This is one of Wesley s earlier sermons from 1733 that
serves as an introduction to what he calls Christian Perfection (a different sermon in
of itself), or the doctrine of holiness. This circumcision of the heart is most
profoundly manifested in the love that the Christian has for God and neighbor.
Furthermore, the love that Wesley describes is the mark of a true Christian. The
circumcision is not brought about by some outward act like baptism, but rather it is
the embracing and accepting of certain internal qualities such as humility, faith, hope,
and love being the most important. The true Christian has an unclouded knowledge
of himself, recognizing his lowliness outside of Christ and therefore realizing his
desperate need of Christ. Once humbled, the faith in Christ is what guides the
Christian in day to day life, all the while having the assurance that Christ s sacrifice
atones for his own sins. All of this is to say that love is the most crucial affection of
the heart that Christians must possess. Christian Perfection This sermon of... Show

He actually argues that many Christians do not even know what true Christianity is.
In addition to this, he attributes the cause of the disparity between what
Christianity promises and what it actually gives out to a lack of Christian
discipline in the church. So few in reality practice self denial, which Wesley sees
as a great act of love and obedience. They are reluctant to give all that they have to
others once their own needs are met. In one last jab, Wesley states that many of the
Methodists have forgotten how to deny themselves and take up their crosses daily
because so many of them have grown rich and are hesitant to give up what they have
Apostle Paul Use Of The Armor Of God
Hermeneutical Application by George Mburu, KE100653
Apostle Paul use of the Armor of God
The author undertakes an application of biblical Hermeneutics in respect to the
Apostle Paul s address of the armor of God to the Ephesian Church. Actually, the
author comes alive to the need of proper Hermeneutic skills for right application of
the biblical Corpus. Indeed, the use of necessary tools has been encouraged for better
application of the Scriptures. Towards the end of the essay, the author makes tentative
conclusions.
KEYWORDS: Bible, God, hermeneutics, exegesis, corpus, text, context, application,
hope, warfare, Greco Roman, kingdom, struggle, believer, victory
Introduction
The term Hermeneutics comes from a Greek word, that means to interpret hence it
signifies interpretation of literary text to the fullest measure. In addition, for that
practice, sound principles must be employed in the interpretation of the text.
Therefore, one realizes that, when exegesis concerns itself with the meaning of a text

The author explains about the warfare and how a soldier was equipped. The
enemies are categorized into four main ones, I) Principalities/authorities II) rulers,
III) Powers IV) forces of wickedness in the heavenly realm. A sage once commented
that, Those who conquer the skies also conquer the earth . And definitely sure, once
believers conquer evil powers, principalities who rule different spheres of influence,
and evil rulers in the dark world, win victory. However, as the Apostle Paul, Craig
and other authors argue, the challenge holds a spiritual warfare (cosmic the unseen
world). Accordingly, the reader and the interpreter should appreciate that the cosmic
is real and troubles many hence the insistence of the apostle Paul for

Example Of Rogerian Argument Essay. How to Organize a Paper: The Rogerian Method Writing instruction ...

  • 1. Example Of Rogerian Argument Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of a "Rogerian Argument" can be quite challenging due to the unique nature of this approach. Unlike traditional argumentative essays, a Rogerian argument requires a more empathetic and cooperative tone, emphasizing finding common ground rather than focusing on differences. This style of writing demands a deep understanding of the opposing viewpoint, requiring extensive research and thoughtful analysis to present a balanced perspective. One of the difficulties lies in the need to maintain objectivity and avoid any semblance of hostility. The goal is not to persuade through forceful argumentation but rather to foster understanding and encourage open dialogue. Striking the right balance between presenting your own stance and acknowledging the validity of opposing views can be a delicate task, demanding a nuanced and careful choice of language. Furthermore, constructing a Rogerian argument involves a meticulous organization of ideas to ensure a smooth flow of discussion. The essay should progress logically, guiding the reader through the exploration of different perspectives while consistently emphasizing shared values and common goals. In addition to the intellectual challenges, there is a significant emotional component to writing a Rogerian argument. Empathizing with views that may differ drastically from your own can be mentally taxing, requiring a high level of patience and open-mindedness. Ultimately, while challenging, mastering the art of crafting a Rogerian argument can be a rewarding experience, fostering not only improved writing skills but also a deeper understanding of diverse viewpoints. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that there are resources available. • 3. How Did The Meiji Restoration Change In Japanese Culture From 1868 to 1912, Japan experienced a period of vigorous reform and modernization called the Meiji Restoration. When the Meiji period began Japan was a militarily weak, mostly agricultural country that could not compete against the industrialized western nations. At the end of the restoration, Japan had achieved a working, highly centralized government supported by the people, a constitution implementing an elected parliament, a western like transport and communication system, a highly educated population, a rapidly growing industrial economy, and a powerful army and navy on par with many of the western nations . Japan s story is one of great success, unity, and pride, one that is virtually unrivaled throughout modern human history. The Meiji... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the first things that the Meiji leaders did was to abolish the 700 year old feudal system. This allowed people to pursue careers previously not open to them, and granted them much more freedom. To appease the belligerent samurai who were opposed to change, the Japanese government gave each of them a yearly stipend, which was later changed to a one time payment in Government bonds. Another thing that the government did was to establish a national education system based on the western model. Most of the people in Japan attended these schools for at least six years, where they were not only taught the normal subjects, but also moral training in which the Japanese were conditioned for loyalty to their country, emperor, and family. Japan also put in place an elected parliament, or Diet , and put lots of money into acquiring western technologies like the telegraph and rail roads. A modern tax system was also put in place to pay for these projects; taxes were paid with money rather than rice. All of these actions set up an environment that encouraged great economic growth. Because of the social drive to modernize, the Japanese people, in general, were more than willing to adopt these new technologies, and therefore strive for a better

When a student finally graduates college, they become so excited to apply what they have just learned in college to their chosen field. However, one problem occurs after graduation students realize that they have a high student loan. Student loans are huge in today s society and many people try to find ways to fix student loans. Student loans can be fixed by having a financial aid to low income students while having free tuition for other income students, having consequences for failing a class. Student loans are big part in today s society. So many students graduate with such high amounts of student loans that they would never be able to pay off. The loans ... Many students receive scholarships, grants and many other government aids, and think that since college is technically free then they can do whatever they want. A lot of student receiving a scholarship or a grant sometimes loose it due to their poor grades. Website called three mistakes that will cost you a college scholarship written by Jacob Davidson who is a news editor at Time. He previously worked at Money as a reporter/producer, covering tech, the economy, and everyday finance, says, Even students receiving Pell grants, which are federally funded need based aid, will lose their assistance if they don t meet standards of satisfactory academic progress. (Davidson). When education is free or when its mostly covered by financial aid, students sometimes tend to slack of thinking that nothing will happen and that they can just retake the course; losing a scholarship because of failing a grade is easy but receiving it back is hard. In addition, the article says, But the pride of winning a scholarship obscures for many students a tough reality: Getting that scholarship renewed for your whole college career isn t a sure thing. (Davidson). Having consequences will make students take their education more seriously because they would not want to pay for failing a class or for having a low GPA. This will help student loans, because students will do their best, to not retake the course again and pay each time. People might say that getting a good GPA is hard for students in colleges and that so many students will end up dropping or paying college. Maintaining a good GPA does require a lot of hard working but if the try their best and not give up then it will be easy for
  • 5. Essay about New Urbanism New Urbanism New Urbanism, a burgeoning genre of architecture and city planning, is a movement that has come about only in the past decade. This movement is a response to the proliferation of conventional suburban development (CSD), the most popular form of suburban expansion that has taken place since World War II. Wrote Robert Steuteville, Lacking a town center or pedestrian scale, CSD spreads out to consume large areas of countryside even as population grows relatively slowly. Automobile use per capita has soared, because a motor vehicle is required for nearly all human transportation 1. New Urbanism, therefore, represents the converse of this planning ideology. It stresses traditional planning, including multi purpose zoning, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drawing upon the lessons of urban revitalization, Seaside also utilizes a strong network of neighborhood associations that not only work to continuously beautify the area but collect dues to ensure that it is done so.4 Perhaps the most definitive example of New Urbanism has been DPZ s project, Kentlands, a 352 acre community in Gaithersburg, Maryland begun in 1990. An oasis of good planning in a sea of suburbia, it is not only a model of Traditional Neighborhood Design (TND) but also the predecessor to many other such neighborhoods developed within CSD areas. In Kentlands, much like Seaside, the Citizens Assembly runs a recreation center and provides for common maintenance of public areas. Civic buildings and shopping in mixed use buildings are within walking distance of the development s six architecturally distinct neighborhoods. This compact design reduces auto traffic significantly, allows children to go about their daily business without requiring a mother chauffeur and puts workplaces near their employees.5 Unique character is worked into the community s design wherever possible: Kentlands has idiosyncrasy and imperfections intentionally. Authentic variety is achieved by allowing odd, leftover lots to remain, forcing the design of a building for just that lot. We insisted that the imprecision of design sketches be reflected in the built work. It took years for the engineers to get used to not straightening every street or making every

Bohemian Hotel Research Paper Antonia Cortes Professor Dottie Ivey Humanities 15 July 2015 Bohemian Hotel in Celebration On July 14, 2015 I made a trip down to Celebration to see the art gallery at the Bohemian Hotel. Every single time I enter the town of Celebration I fall more in love. Well, today I realized that art galleries do not need to be big, to be impressive. As I arrive to the hotel I get to take in the beautiful architectural design of the hotel. Inside I get the pleasure of seeing more than 75 different art pieces. The whole reason I wanted to go to this specific location was, because someone had told me that there was glasswork throughout the hotel. However, the small yet impressive art gallery captured my attention more. The hotel had art pieces all over, but I got all caught up in a corner where local artists, Nina Buxton, Huston Llew, and Phillip Anthony; had their beautiful pieces of art. Nina Buxton s Cypress Tree II, was very impressive. The painting is done on a canvas with oil paint and the palette knife technique. There are two individual pieces and each piece measures 12X36. They are side by side and both are landscape pictures. They appear to capture the same landscape. Although, the painting appears to be a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another one that I like is called The Way, and it is a painting of a beach pier. The image makes me feel as if I m standing right beside it getting ready to walk across it. • 7. The House Of Scorpion Character Analysis In the story The House of Scorpion , written by Nancy Farmer, the main characters are Matteo Alacran who is a clone from El Patron. Matteo was made by a scientist in lab in the mexican border. Another main character is Matt s caregiver which is a woman named Celia, where she worked at the Big House. Lastly, the third main character is El Patron, who is a powerful drug lord of opium in mexico. The main settings is in the future where they now know the knowledge of cloning. The main problem is that Matt is a clone and this makes Matt bad and unwanted to the normal people. This makes Matt a bad person because he is not normal to hang around with people. Also, the conflict is that El Patron is using Matt as a way to stay alive. At the end of the story, Matt was now older and became leader of Mexico and opium. Another detail the happened at the end of the story is the everyone died except Celia, Mr. Ortega, Matt s music teacher, and Daft Donald, who is a bodyguard of El Patron. My opinion on Celia is that she is a fearless, amorous, and smart because she doesn t mind talking about life situations, she loves Matt although other people don t and knows lots of duties. The three reasons I think these traits follow with Celia is that in the book, The House of the Scorpion on page 125 it states I m not supposed to talk to you about this. This shows that Celia doesn t mind talking about things she wasn t supposed to. This also shows she s not scared to talk about situations that Matt saw while telling the truth and not lying to him. Another trait Celia has is amorous because on page 10 it states I love you more than anything in the world. Lastly, she s smart because on page 142 it quotes She taught me all kinds of things. This quote reminds me of my dad, because my dad is very talented in many ways and taught me lots of things that are useful in life. Based on a judgement, one prediction that I can refer on this story is that Matt will become leader of Mexico and opium after El Patron dies and everyone will love him. Another thing I possibly believe that Matt will do is, free people who were treated as slaves. One thing I believe that will change or become different is, the hatred of clones after seeing how

This war impacted the entire world and was fought between the Allied powers (the United States, Britain, France, Russia, Canada, and later Russia) and they opposed the Axis powers, namely a coalition led by Nazi Germany including Japan, Bulgaria and Hungary. This was truly a world war which most countries globally were drawn into and affected by. This is cited as the largest war to date. The reasons for the war arose from Nazi Germany s attempt to dominate and control Europe beginning with the invasion of Poland. As a result the Commonwealth and France declared war on Germany. In 1941 a massive, mainly amphibious, attack which was termed Operation Overlord was launched. The strategy was to ensure Normandy beach was secured as this was perceived as the gateway to the rest of Europe. It had military and psychological significance as Nazi Germany had been aggressively dominating European territory and it was seen as necessary for his regime to be neutralised. The Allied forces realised that Nazi Germany needed to be cauterised and occupied so that the war could be won. Learning Your First Job Analysis Planning The students chooses to learn Information is not knowledge but we have the power to turn information into knowledge Take care of yourself and keep your priorities straight The purpose of this assignment is to help the student grasp the importance of putting effort into their studies. This article is meant to give us advice and show us the path to a successful future; however, the choice lies in our hands. This feels true, especially as I look back on my high school career and realized how many notes I looked at but never remembered. Another thing I experienced last year in high school was Senioritis. Good, hardy play, which includes running and yelling, is not only fun, but helps children to be physically and mentally healthy. Children Need Playmates Sometimes it is important for children to have time with their peers. I m going to be sharing the pros, and cons the non native plants have on the Arizona landscape. In my opinion the spread of invasive plants is more harmful to our native landscape than it is beneficial. A native plant is a plant that evolves in a particular area for a long period of time. They also adapted to the weather change in that specific area, As well as worked alongside other plants to provide habitat for wildlife. A non native plant is a plant that originates from a particular place and was put some place else by accident. • 19. Sigmund Freudian Clips Freudian Clips... In 1923 Sigmund Freud authored a paper called The Ego and the Id, which is an analytical study of the human psyche. Called the Structural Theory, this theory categorizes psychological conditions into three divisions: the Id, the Super Ego, and the Ego. The Id is best thought of as a newborn child driven by instinctive drives and impulses and seeks instant gratification. The Super Ego is the multiplicative inverse of the Id, representing a father figure and a moral compass. The Ego serves as the mediator between the Id and the Super Ego and takes into account external factors to derive a clear view of reality. The theory has spurred much discussion in the scientific community, but the concept is firmly seated in college psychology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Super Ego like person is highly risk averse, needs to have near perfect information before making a decision, and never, ever, swims until at least 30 minutes after eating. The Ego like person has drive and is willing to take risks, but seeks to understand situations enough to take calculated risks as opposed to foolish risks. While reading this, you may have thought of a friend or family member who fits into each of the above categories. You may have also slotted yourself as being predominantly Id, Super Ego, or Ego like. It also may be situational to where you are more Id like in certain situations while you are more Super Ego like in others. As this specifically applies to starting and running your own small business, it is vitally important that you identify whether you are more Id, Super Ego, or Ego like and that you balance who you are with others who fit into the other categories; thus the following

  • 21. The Theme Of Life In O Pioneers ! By Willa Cather It seems that everything in Willa Cather s O Pioneers!, aside from the land, starts out so full of life and ends so utterly devoid of it. It could even be said that the characters in the novel become imprisoned by their own lives. Marie is barred by her love, which, in the end, leaves her quite literally lifeless. Alexandra, who initially is so full of life, begins to view her life as unimportant and as a prisonhouse. Even the spirituality of the pioneers is ever declining and dying away. Ultimately it is Frank who embodies the idea most obviously; in his youth Frank lives the life of a happy, handsome man, yet his life ends in utter despondence and literal imprisonment. How is it that all of these things can be drained of life while the American land is thriving with it? One could see the relationship between the land and the people that live on it as the American dreamand those who live that dream. Invariably, the people who contribute to the flourishing of the land also contribute to the fallowness of their own life, just as those who indulge in the American Dream lose not only themselves, but their own dreams to it. Marie s case is a tragic one. Maries lovefor her husband begins strong; she is madly in love with him, but the labor that he puts into the land changes him into a hard man which she can no longer love. It is the land, the great American dream, that changes Frank and it is the land, which strips Marie of all love for him. When she falls in love with Emil,

His goal is to educate the audience with an informative speech about his three inventions that he believes can have a significant positive effect on millions of people. The first invention he describes consists of a device implanted into a patient to detect acute myocardial infection (AMI). The second inventionis a device that helps eliminate migraineheadaches. The third invention details the best way to treat epilepsy through a responsive electrical treatment. Robert Fischell delivered the speech in acceptance of his 2005 TEDaward in an official conference. His credibility cannot be doubted as he is the inventor of other well known medical devices such as, the rechargeable pacemaker, the insulin pump, and a pre cursor to GPS. The speaker s fascinating inventive capability, and determination to make the world a better place, adds to his credibility. The TED conference consisted of approximately a thousand people from different fields such as technology, design, business, science, entertainment, as well as the non profit world. The audience is not only limited to the live audience as millions of people can access the 26:46 minute speech through the internet and mass media. The speaker used a hook effectively to draw the audience into the speech. He starts by noting that the speech is aimed at discussing the invention that can have an impact on ten to a hundred million people. With such a remarkable statement, everyone would be interested to know the details of his inventions. At the same time, he mentions his previous inventions, stents, and insulin pumps for the diabetic, which he discussed in the prior film. This creates trust among the audience about the speaker s credibility. The speech s opening fully establishes the intention of the presentation. Parents and professors look over the problem of students drinking and look at their college life in a positive way. They understand the students to be studying, making new friends, or working. Instead, an abundance of students are partying and drinking at these parties. The transformation from high school to college causes stress to the students. Therefore, instead of the students looking towards studying more, they start partying to solve their problems. Once they start partying, it gets harder for them to stop and they become depressed. Students drinking at college has become a provision for them, thinking it would help with their stress and problems rather than causing other predicaments. Parents would like to think that their children are doing what they re expected to do while at college rather than drinking and partying. According to Lucy E. The three important signs to initially address and understand the science behind are perivasculitis, retinal vascular sheathing and retinal hemorrhages. All three medical definitions appear straightforward and all very similar, but the combination of the three leads to a serious diagnosis and urgency for this patient. Perivasculitis is an inflammation of a sheath surrounding the tissue 1. In class we discussed the differences between perivasculitis and periflabitis. Perivasculitis should be white because of the inflammation and the white blood cells then spilling out. The Prefix peri means around, or on the outside of the tissue. Retinal vascular sheathing is sheathing or cuffing of blood vessels and vitreous cells . The swelling or cuffing of blood vessels in the retinal layer is a serious condition and is often associated with vasculitis. Finally, a retinal hemorrhage is abnormal bleeding of the vessels in the retina 2. Retinal hemorrhages can be caused for a variety of reasons such as injuries like forceful blows or accidents and falls, as well as adverse health conditions. We know that the loss of vision can be largely attributed to the excess debris that is currently located in the eye, the debris being blood that is leaking out. Our case states that he has no previous trauma however, proving that there is an ulterior cause to the acute onset of the

It was the time when England was facing an economic depression and job opportunities were rare even for skilled people. Immigration of English and other European settlers was primary due to the political instability in their homeland. The instable regime of Charles I forced many English people to move to the New World. In addition to this, the repressive policies of rulers in other parts of Europeand the destruction because of several wars played a major role in encouraging Europeans to move
  • 41. First Amendment And Music Censorship Essay The First Amendment to the Bill of Rights exists because the Founders of our country understood the importance of free expression. The First Amendment states Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press . . . (Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution 17). One of the ways the American people use this freedom of speechand expression is through the creation of the art form known as music. Music s verbal expression bonds our society through our emotions and experiences. This fundamental right of freedom of expression is being threatened by public and governmental groups who believe they have authority to monitor and decide what others should experience. The censorship of music... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1964, The Rolling Stones catapulted to fame amid outrage and controversy about the surliness of their demeanor and the length of their hair. The Stones were considered dangerous and riots and scenes of hysteria erupted wherever they played. Today, they re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, winners of the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and on the cover of TIME magazine (RIAA; History 2 of 4). There s nothing new about pop and rock music finding its roots in the anger and rebellion of young people, and there s nothing new in older people expressing unrealistic fears about that music (RIAA; History 3 of 4). History has shown us that what may be initially perceived as objectionable is actually only the reaction of a new or different experience. Musicians are protected under the First Amendment equally as any citizen in the United States of America. They deserve the same basic human rights we all practice, however the freedom of expression has special relevance for musicians (Hald 1 of 8). This offers a special protection of musicians against arbitrary censorship and persecution (Hald 1 of 8). Not only does censorship of music threaten the freedom of speech, but it also threatens a musician s right to promote their work through free enterprise. Musicians have the freedom to play music in public or private domains, give concerts, and release CDs (Hald 1 2 of 8). Some concert
  • 42. Angela s Ashes Themes Angela s Ashes is a memoir written by Frank McCourt discussing his and his families life while he was growing up. Frank and his family lived in a time where both America and Ireland were countries facing depression. The McCourt family also faced discrimination in both countries as well: in america they were discriminated against for being Irish, and n Ireland they were discriminated on for being Yankees. In my opinion the three most important themes of Angela s Ashesare: destructiveness of alcohol, importance of religion, and struggles of poverty. During the whole book Frank s Father s abuse of alcohol is affecting not only himself but the whole family. When the family was living, in New York, with Prohibition in full swing, he thought he had died and gone to hell for his sins. Then he discovered speakeasies and he rejoiced. Frank has a negative idea of religion, Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood, is the miserable Irish childhood, and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood (McCourt, 1) Frank s view of religion is affected by what he had to deal with such as his mother begging the Vincent de Paul Society for food and other necessities the family needed, as well as, having to present everything he thought was a sin that in reality was just so,ething every kid did. On the other hand religion also held a positive side in the family s life because it gave the something to believe in. For example, when the three children had died the family said they d be able to join them in heaven one on day. The church also gave Frank an escape where he could go and feel at peace by being able to pray. Religion bring both peace and negativity to the McCourt family but in the end religion helped the whole family have something to believe
  • 43. Pico s Oration On The Dignity Of Man In his Oration on the Dignity of Man , Pico explained humanism , which is a set of principles, perspectives, and logical ideas about the world. Pico describes how humans are different from other creatures of this world. He finished his Oration on the Dignity of Man to accompany his 900 theses in which he provided us with the complete discovery of knowledge and structural pyramid for humancreation called the chain of being. Pico explained that God had created all creatures, who would appreciate this world that he created. There was no room in the chain of being, all the openings from angels to worms had been filled, so God created man who had no specific position in the chain of being. In addition, Pico explained that universe is made up of three levels of being, rising from the material world through the spiritual, to the super spiritual or intelligible. As man is made for God, so everything else is made for man. Pico argued that human beings can accomplish whatever they want if they set their heart to it. He ... He described that we are dominated by evil (Satan), which encourage us to commit sin. Also if we listen to Satan we are going on his will not our own. Luther thought that faith and free will are not just enough to make a human being good and satisfied. In The Bondage of the Will he described that we have to work on ourselves to brighten our soul and get salvation. We can get salvation and redemption for our sins by believing on the power of God. Trust in God s existence has to be build; it does not just come by hearing it from others. Luther believed that we can seek forgiveness and be absolved after confessing in front of priest. We cannot judge God s giving and it is clear that humans cannot be saved unless the grace of God works in them. God s grace is a necessary condition for our
  • 44. Galileo s Condemnation Of Grace Summary Leung 1 Kelly Leung Professors Furstein and Cole Science Con. 9 Oct. 2014 The Catholic Church s Authority vs. Galileo s Correctness In his Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina and Ballarmine, Galileo s disagreement about the relationship between Copernicanism and Scripture was rooted in Galileo s views of the separation between theology and astronomy. The purpose of this letter was to show that the Catholic Church s condemnation of Conpernicanism is inappropriate since Galileo claims that arguments about the physical world have no bearing on church authority, as it was properly understood. I will argue that the Catholic Church s rejection of Galileo s ideas was because of the Church s desire for control. As a religious man, Galileo concluded that for the physical conclusions of celestial motions (in astronomical and geometrical aspects), the Bible alone cannot explain the physical meanings, I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Galileo s astronomical claims became public, it was a large blow to The Church. The Church claimed that he was undermining the power of Scripture. If it had publically accepted Galileo s claims, the Church s authority would be further questioned. By suggesting that the earth revolved around the Sun, Galileo was questioning centuries of what people regarded to be the truth, and this did not sit well with the Church leaders. However, he did explain that he was not questioning the Bible itself, but questioning the interpretation of the Bible by those in positions of spiritual authority. In all likelihood, there were people within the realm of the Church who believed Galileo. They were not able to assert their views because of the poor image of diminishing authority. Interestingly, there was no solution to not being able to speak out about one s views if they were opposing the

Harrison s presidency in 1840, every American president elected in a year ending with an 0 has died while in office. JFK was the last president to continue this sequence. It was election year again and Kennedy took a trip to Texas in purpose of running for a second term. The Kennedy family left Washington D. C. on Thursday, November 21st. • 46. Circumcision Of The Heart Essay Circumcision of the Heart This is one of Wesley s earlier sermons from 1733 that serves as an introduction to what he calls Christian Perfection (a different sermon in of itself), or the doctrine of holiness. This circumcision of the heart is most profoundly manifested in the love that the Christian has for God and neighbor. Furthermore, the love that Wesley describes is the mark of a true Christian. The circumcision is not brought about by some outward act like baptism, but rather it is the embracing and accepting of certain internal qualities such as humility, faith, hope, and love being the most important. The true Christian has an unclouded knowledge of himself, recognizing his lowliness outside of Christ and therefore realizing his desperate need of Christ. Once humbled, the faith in Christ is what guides the Christian in day to day life, all the while having the assurance that Christ s sacrifice atones for his own sins. All of this is to say that love is the most crucial affection of the heart that Christians must possess. Christian Perfection This sermon of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He actually argues that many Christians do not even know what true Christianity is. In addition to this, he attributes the cause of the disparity between what Christianity promises and what it actually gives out to a lack of Christian discipline in the church. In one last jab, Wesley states that many of the Methodists have forgotten how to deny themselves and take up their crosses daily because so many of them have grown rich and are hesitant to give up what they have

Apostle Paul Use Of The Armor Of God Hermeneutical Application by George Mburu, KE100653 Apostle Paul use of the Armor of God The author undertakes an application of biblical Hermeneutics in respect to the Apostle Paul s address of the armor of God to the Ephesian Church. Actually, the author comes alive to the need of proper Hermeneutic skills for right application of the biblical Corpus. Indeed, the use of necessary tools has been encouraged for better application of the Scriptures. Towards the end of the essay, the author makes tentative conclusions.
