Modal verb part 1
Prepare by Mcenroe Ng
present
perfect.
 (verb form) has had
 We need the verb have or has
 not if we want to make a negative, and a past participle.
 For example
-Judy has travelled all over the world.
-Joe has not visited every country. They have met friends from other
cultures. We use has for he, she and it and have for all other
subjects.
why do we use
the present
perfect?
 is an example of one use of the present perfect
1. Unspecified time in the past.
-talking about an activity that started and finished in the past,
but with no mention of a specific time.
So for example, we can't say last week or yesterday.
It's not important when the event happened, but rather it's about
life experience.
Example: I have travelled to China
why do we use
the present
perfect?
2) Using since, or for.
We use since or for we're talking about an activity that began in the
past and is still going on now.
For example
I have lived here for three years means that I moved here three
years ago and I'm still living here.
Types of
English forms
Past participle
conditions
 past participles cannot be the only verb in a sentence
 I ate an apple – simple past 
 I eaten a apple
 I have eaten a apple 
 when we use past participles, we need a helping verb like have or
had
Examples
 what kind of experience do you have?
- I have worked with computers for ten years,
 How long have you studied English?
- I have studied it since I was 12 years old.
Notice that in each of these sentences we use for or since to
describe the amount of time between the past and present.
For 10 years, since I was 12 years old, since the last time I saw him,
for two weeks.
Examples
 Judy has visitedThailand many times.
 Judy has visitedThailand in 2014.
Unspecific
time
Present perfect
W-H how to
ask question
Form question
with adverb
(ever, never)
 Have you ever ridden an elephant?
 Have you finished your food yet?
- Yet is always at the end
1) yes, I have finished my food. / No, I have not finish my food yet.
2) I have already finished my food.
3) I have finish my food already.
