Seljuk Influence On American Culture
Turkey Emerged
In its relative dark history Turkey, has come a long way. Overcoming its continuing struggle with
its Muslim dominance, to becoming a powerful democratic Muslim state. Seeking full membership
into the European Union (EU) to be a first Muslim EU state, and a member of NATO. With the
country being part of not only Europe, it also shares geopolitical aspects with Asia and the Middle
East, Mediterranean and Balkans. While trying to bring modern values to an elected Islamist
government.
Climate/ Terrain
With 95% of the country occupying the peninsula of Asia Minor, it also extends into the European
strait of Bosporus. Surround by seas on three of its borders, the land is also prone to earthquakes.

With the desire to join the EU many sanctions have been lifted to reach that goal. Although
regulations have relaxed many reporters still get arrested for various articles regarding the
government, military, or other religious minorities. Since 2009 nearly 500 reporters have been
arrested for their work. Until recently YouTube was banned until late 2010, yet much of the internet
is still censored. Claims by government officials claim it s to protect its population from access to
pornographic sites. With the fastest European economic growth, Turkey has a reported growth rate
of 10.2% annually. Driven by international investments on construction, retail trade, transportation,
and communications. Since the 1980 s the country was traditionally an agricultural nation, has
since grown with the signing of the customs union agreement with the EU. With 29.5% of the
labor force still in agriculture per a 2010 estimate, the industrial and manufacturing sectors have
grown to 25% accounting for 27% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) bringing in more the $30
billion US dollars. Turkey holds the fastest growing iron and steel industries worldwide. With coal,
iron ore, copper, chromium, antimony, mercury, and gold mining industries lacking it is stalling its

Why Learn Japanese Language Essay
Why learn the Japanese language?
Discovering the Japan s culture
Japan has developed a distinct, original and unique culture, the base of a glorious civilization.
Japanese civilization flourished and redefined a new interest and a great emotional involvement in
the arts. Traditional Japanese arts include Ikebana, origami, Ukiyo e, handicraft (dolls), poetry,
performances (bunraku, Kabuki, noh, rakugo), special traditions (games, Onsen, sento, tea
ceremony, budo, architecture, gardening, swords) and culinary arts. To properly understand them,
learning the Japanese language, it is a must.

Traditional Japanese landscapes can be divided into 3 types: Tsukiyama Gardens (hill type garden)
Karesansui Gardens (dry garden) and Chaniwa Gardens (tea garden).
Tsukiyama Gardens: ponds, hills, rocks, trees, flowers, bridges and paths are used to create a
miniature reproduction of a natural landscape that is often famous in China or Japan. The name
Tsukiyama refers to the creation of artificial hills.
Karesansui Gardens illustrate natural landscapes in a more abstract way, using stones, sand and
some paths bags for the most representative mountains, islands, rivers and seas. The gardens are
strongly influenced by Zen Buddhism and used for meditation.
Sakura and the Cherry Blossom Festival
Sakura (cherry blossom) is Japan s unofficial national flower. It is celebrated for centuries and
has a well defined place in Japanese culture. There are many varieties of cherry trees in Japan,
most blooming only for a few days in the spring. The Japanese celebrate that time of the year with
Hanami (admire the cherry blossoms) giving parties under the blooming trees. There are several
types of traditional Japanese music

The Causes And Consequences Of Drunk Driving
Drunk driving is a serious offense that not only effects the drunk driver, but also the people around
the drunk driver. Drunk driving causes serious accidents that often end with someone being
seriously injured, or killed. There are many ways to prevent drunk driving from license suspension
to incarceration. Another way to prevent drunk drivingis to rehabilitate the drunk driver by
initiating the ignition interlock device. This device is installed in a vehicle of a driving while
intoxicated (DWI) offender to prevent them from driving while drunk. Society pushes for states to
have harsher punishments for DWI offenders, however, a more rehabilitative stance should be
taken with the ignition interlock device because it prevents DWI offenders from driving while
intoxicated, it enables DWI offenders to still be able to drive to maintain their responsibilities and
practice safe driving habits, and it reduces recidivism rates among DWI offenders.
Prevents Driving While Intoxicated
A more rehabilitative stance should be taken with the ignition interlock device because it
prevents DWI offenders from driving while intoxicated. Fulkerson (2009) states that whoever is
driving a vehicle that has the ignition interlock device installed must blow into the device, so it
can detect whether there is a presence of alcohol (p. 110). The device will test their blood
alcohol concentration (BAC) and if it is above a certain level the car will not start. According to
Fulkerson (2003) says, The interlock system can also be programmed to require subsequent
breath samples, called rolling re tests, which are used to deter an impaired driver from
attempting to get his or her vehicle started with the aid of a sober person (p. 223). If alcohol is
present with a rolling re test the vehicle will start honking it s horn until the driver pulls over.
These tests also deter a driver from drinking while the car is in motion. The ignition interlock
device may not be perfect, but it is certainly a great way to stop drunks from driving. Driving
while intoxicated is a serious problem that can be reduced by the ignition interlock device. The
device should be required by all states as soon as someone obtains a DWI, because the device

Disadvantages Of Black Colleges
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) were established to serve the African
American community by providing them a higher education. Before HBCU s were established
blacks were denied a higher education because there were only white institutions. This
organization was established in the year of 1964. Most of the HBCUs were created after the Civil
War. However there were three colleges that were established before the Civil War Cheney
Universityof Pennsylvania, Lincoln University of Missouri, and Wilberforce University of Ohio.
Now there are 107 historically black colleges and universitiesin the United States. Some of these
black colleges and universities are public but there are also some that are private.

At some of the colleges you will find people who come from similar backgrounds and
circumstances and who have had simular cultural experinces. The professors will be there to help
nurture and guide you throughout your college education. Lastly , a major advantage is the cost of
tuition at HBCUs is much cheaper than other universities.
Historically Black Colleges are starting to have more white students than blacks in the schools.
When people hear about these types of universities they assume that only blacks attend the school.
In all actuality, the colleges allow any race to attend the schools.
The disadvatages of going to a HBCU is its environment. The blacks would be surronded by
other African Americans but in the real world poeple will not be the same race as them. It closes
the student network so they will only be able to work for black companies. Its limiting your
carrer basically. Students that attendened HBCUs say a degree from a HBCU will be undervalued
by prospective employers. Most say that the HBCUs all they do is party since its surrounded by

A Comparison Of The American Dream And All My Sons
Alrighty, I am going to kind of mash together question one and two. I wanted to discuss the
American Dream and All My Sons, but I also think that topic really, nicely goes into the relevance
it has today.
The American Dream can be worded and defined in different ways. But as stated in Question 1,
The American Dream can be defined as the idea that in the US anyone can become successful
through hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. I think that is a definition that everyone can agree
on, more or less. The Cambridge Dictionary also defines the American Dream, the belief that
everyone in the US has the chance to be successful and happy if they work hard. Also as stated in
Question 1, All My Sons is often described as a negative critique of the American Dream.
I m sure we can all immediately recognize and understand what Joe Keller did is wrong and goes
against what you would think the American Dream is. He kept information from authorities
about the cylinders so he could get out of jail. Deever was kept in jail because of Keller s lies.
Not only that, but 21 pilots died too. There is a huge moral and ethical responsibility to tell the
truth and do the right thing. However, Keller lied and kept information so that he could make
money and get out of jail..again, leaving Deever to sit in prison. Keller never thought about
Deever, only himself and his company. During the time of the incident (1947) stress was high and
they had to make quick decisions. All of the companies

Essay on Jamba Juice External Analysis
Case Analysis #1: Jamba Juice
Sociocultural Factors Sociocultural factors influence and restrict consumption ideas, needs, desires
and purchase behavior. People from different countries and different regions have different life
patterns and different sociocultures. These differences directly influence the products that
industries want to produce because people may even have different attitudes and value toward the
same product due to different sociocultural factors. With the rapid development of modern society
and the continuous improvement of living standards, the degree of attention paid to health has
increased. Franchise businesses continue to pay close attention to their customers need for

Switching Costs
Since there are many stores, like McDonald s and Starbucks that are also providing all kinds of
healthy smoothies with a price that is similar to Jamba Juice s, buyers actually will not face high
switching costs. Therefore, low switching costs enhance the bargaining power of buyers.
Product is Undifferentiated
Even though Jamba Juice advertizes that its products are healthy, low in calories and rich in
vitamins, many other stores also provide the similar smoothies or fast foods. This indicates that
Jamba Juice s products are not differentiated. Consumers can still find products in other stores that
are familiar to Jamba Juice s, which enhances the power of buyers.
Power of suppliers
For restaurant retailers, the power of suppliers is high. This can be indicated by lack of substitute
produces and low importance of restaurants as buyers.
Availability of Substitutes
Although Jamba Juice demands a large amount of agricultural commodities to help produce the
healthy and organic smoothies, these commodities are limited. There are not other substitutes can
replace these agricultural commodities to make smoothies as healthy as the organic raw materials.
Hence, this gives the suppliers the opportunities to raise the price or decrease the quality of the
agricultural commodities.
Importance of Customer to Supplier
Besides Jamba Juice, many restaurant and foodservice stores need agricultural commodities. If

Dementi A Clinical State Caused By Neurodegeneration Essay
Dementia is a clinical state caused by neurodegeneration and characterized by a loss of function in
cognitive domains and behavior. There are several different causes of dementia including
Alzheimer s disease (AD), vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, and frontotemporal
dementia (FTD). Hippocampal sclerosis of aging (HS aging) is prevalent in people of advance age,
manifests with distinct neuropathological properties, and can be present with or without other
dementia causes and vascular diseases [1].
Although HS aging is poorly understood, this phenomena may describe a proportion of non AD
dementia [2]. The prevalence of HS aging pathology ranges from 5 to 30% in older people [3 6].
HS aging is generally diagnosed postmortem by the presence of TAR DNA binding protein 43
(TDP 43). The clinical signs and symptoms of HS aging are similar to those of AD with amnestic
memory deficits [7, 8]. Because of the overlapping symptomology, HS aging is often clinically
misdiagnosed as AD [7 9]. AD is characterized by accumulation of amyloid plaques and
neurofibrillary tangles [10], while HS aging is pathologically characterized by neuronal loss with
gliosis in the subiculum and Cornu Ammonis area 1 (CA1) region of the hippocampus, which can
occur unilaterally or bilaterally [6, 7].
Genetic risk factors for HS aging have been recently identified. Unlike AD, the apolipoprotein E4
(APOE4) genotype is not a risk factor for HS aging [11]. Potassium channel subfamily M regulatory

Effects of Temperature on Cell Membranes
Investigating the effect of temperature on plant cell membranes
The purpose of this activity is:
to practise experimental and investigative skills to investigate the effect of temperature on cell
membrane structures
Procedure
SAFETY: Always carry scalpels clasped to a tile and with the tip pointing away from you.
Beetroot cells contain pigments called betalains that give the tissue its dark purple red colour. The
pigment is contained in the cell vacuole.
Investigation

you have enough for one core for each temperature of water bath that you will be using. Put your 2

size of the beetroot cores (their surface area and volume), the advance treatment of the beetroot
cores, the volume of water in the test tubes, the pre heating (or chilling) of the water in the test
tubes using the water baths, the length of time the cores spend in the water baths, the treatment of
the cores after heating. The experiment could be made more reliable by using more samples of
beetroot, and by maintaining the temperature with thermostatically controlled water baths.

Impact Of Globalization In Nigeria
The term globalization gets mixed in conversation without even slipping our brains what it is.
But what is it? Globalization is the thought of corporations transferring employment overseas to
those who will work for less. However, globalization can be expressed even wider, which
incorporates numerous influences. With that being said, the most fitting meaning would be that
globalization is the collapse of barriers among countries permitting labor, goods, and services to
be freely exchanged. Consequently, one feature that appears to be debatable is the how
globalization has moved the prosperity of others. For instance, subcontracting has led to a massive
majority of employment for people in underdeveloped countries giving the ability to gradually
creep out of poverty. But yet there are still additional countries that observe their poverty rate rise
steeply. We will take a provocative look at globalization, where it improves a country such as
Nigerias economy. We will talk about how things like Nigeria s use of Credit, reliance on foreign
technologies, lack of raw materials, production of substandard goods, government policies and
education comes into effect on their actual rapid growth in the economic aspect.
The organization of the Nigerian economy is a characteristic of an underdeveloped country. Over
half of the gross domestic product (GDP) is accounted for by the primary sector with agriculture
remaining to play a significant part. The oil and gas sector, in particular,

Race In The Last Of The Mohicans
The issue of race is an important idea in The Last of the Mohicans and can be shown through the
characters view of a person and obedience and goodness and intelligence and how they act. Each
character has a different perspective and how it affects them. It can affect how people are treated
and whether they are seen as intelligent or not. Also, there could be inter Indian racismwith the
Mohicans towards the Huron s or vice a verse which we will see affecting everyone else as time
goes on.
Our first question is does race determine whether a character is good or bad? In the book, we see the
Mohicans who are of a different race and yet they are still a noble and just race, but we also have
the Huron who are bad and are attacking the Mohicans.

The Garden of Eden
The Garden of Eden is a sacred place to many people. This is a place that may or not actually exist,
and if it is a real place it has not been confirmed. If the Garden of Eden was ever located it would
be a place worth visiting.
The Origins The origins of the Garden of Eden come from the book of Genesis in the Old
Testament of the Bible. The word Eden means delight in Hebrew probably derives from the
Akkadian word edinu. Edinu is believed to derive from the Sumerian term E.DIN which means
plain or steppe. The connection may be coincidental, although E.DIN is known to have been used

The Comparison
Creation myths across cultures have several obvious similarities and differences. There is
substantial importance in the larger ideas, such as gender, the role of the human beings, and the
outcome of the creation. I find it fascinating that many of the mythical stories from around the
world have told a story where a God floods the earth. I think the flood stories in each myth may be a
link between them. Creation myths concern our ancestors and gods of nature; the earth, the sky, the
sun, the moon, and the stars. They are supernatural explanations of human origin and they help
explain what humans could not explain to answers question about the creation of the earth and man
that could be passed on for generations. Our culture and history would not be the same without the
mythical place that surround the stories of our creation.
Conclusion
The stories of mythology in each different culture have a sacred meaning to the people of that
culture. Just as the stories have meanings so do the places the story surrounds. There are different
types of sacred destinations, some may be similar some could be completely different from one
another. Regardless of their differences they are joined by the elements

Spouse A Case Study
1)Recommended Tax Filing Status
Spouse A has varying sources of income and given the characteristics of his personal and
professional life, he can claim a number of deductions. Owing to the fact that Spouse A and
Spouse B have varying sources of income, Spouse A would most ideally file the IRS 1040 form
jointly with his wife s tax returns. This is because a joint tax return would give them access to a
host of deductions for which they are eligible. These include earned income tax credits, American
Opportunity and Lifetime Learning Education Tax Credits, and Child and Dependent Care Tax
Credit. Under joint filing, the couple could exclude the income of $500,000 from the sale of their
personal residence, while separate filing would only allow a $250,000 deduction.
2)Rules on Income
a)Taxable and Nontaxable Income
Child support that Spouse B receives is not taxable since it is not considered income. Any form of
child support is not taxable. Alimony that is paid out by spouse A is deductible since it is going to
be taxed on the recipient of the alimony as income (John Wiley Sons, 2013).

Analyses of a Career as a Dentist
Dentists are often thought of as people to be feared. Most people try to put off going to the
dentist until their teeth hurt so much that they have no choice but to visit the feared dental office.
Waiting for pain in the mouth or gums before visiting a dentist is one of the worst things a
person can do. Paul J. Flaer, et al. observes, Fear in approaching the dental visit may be generated
by psychosocial factors such as history of bad experience(s) at the dentist and by the effect of poor
representations of dental treatment in the media (104). If more people could get over their

Then the dentist has to fill the caries (cavities). There are two types of fillings being used in most
dental offices. The metal amalgam that looks silver in the mouth and the composite that appears
white on the tooth. The location and severity of the cavity determines what type of filling should be
used. Usually shots to numb the mouth are used before the drilling begins. Some dentist use
laughing gas to dull the pain of the needed work. Dentist need steady hands and good depth
persecution when drilling a patient s teeth. Dentists also need to be able to take care of more
serious problems such as root canals, crowns, wisdom teeth, and making dentures. These procedures
are more challenging and require preparation during the Dental School and clinical training years.
Some dentists specialize as dental surgeons. A dental surgeon s duties include tooth extraction, root
canals, and crowns. Orthodontists are the branch of dentists that most often make dentures and
putting braces on teeth to straighten the bite. Dentists must also do a lot of paper work. This can be
a boring task but is very important. Keeping good records for the patients, filling out insurance
claims, and the necessary governmental regulations is of the utmost importance. No task the dentist
has to perform should be taken lightly. Work environment Dentists usually work with others in a
dental office. The dentist office environment should be a welcoming one to help alleviate the fear

Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass
This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of
stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different
aspects, I feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this,
the tools needed was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass.
Using the ball cutter, you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After
that is made, take the pliers to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What
you do is align the cut with the line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The
grozing pliers are used for non straight cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your
hand as the other and go on either side of the score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout
this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first struggled with figuring out how to position
my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the glass, and the angle to put my hand.
Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass that had a curved score.
Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At one point I ended up
deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the pieces cut. After
all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. This didn t seem to challenge me
at all, but rather proved to

Piano Progression
The notion of technology has become a ubiquitous force is modern day society, where its rapid
advancement has revolutionised all aspects of life. Undoubtedly, the progression of technology has
had a profound influence on the art of music. The way music is now transmitted, performed, and
composed has evolved in accordance with the physical and stylistic components of particular
musical instruments. Radical technological developments throughout time has provided the piano
with a long and diverse history, featuring variations of its physical figure as well its tone colour and
texture(?).
The harpsichord served as a starting point for future developments of the piano and essentially laid
out the basis for the emergence of the pianoforte. Up until the mid 18th century, the harpsichord

It is chiefly associated with the baroque era (1600 1750) and embodies characteristics of
exuberance and articulation, reflective of the time period in Western Europe. Italian harpsichords
were lightly constructed and veneered in natural wood to allow the tone colour to vary from brittle,
well defined and percussive, to bright, shimmering and incisive. Sound is produced by plucking a
string when a key is pressed down, but, a distinct feature of the harpsichord is its incapability of
dynamic gradation, rendering it limited to one unvarying volume. Performing artists could not
convey the same degree of musical expression on the piano as that of other instruments. This
artistic desire for dynamic freedom ultimately led to the development of what is now known as the
modern piano. Bartolomeo Cristofori, an Italian instrument crafter, produced a breakthrough
technological advance; a new mechanism for the harpsichord which allowed for it to be played
with dynamic variations. He named this invention gravicembalo col piano e forte, or harpsichord
with soft and loud , later known as the pianoforte . Cristofori s innovation included an

manipulation and half truths to gain and retain control. To make their ideas prudent to the audience,
Orwell and Levinson make use of various literary and filmic techniques, most prominent of these in
both texts is the use of Irony. These texts influence the audience directly to consider the potential
folly of human forms of governance, which is timely to society in our day.
Both Orwell and Levinson explore the ways in which social ideals are corrupted for personal
power. Orwell depicts Animal farm s fall into corruption through the narrativeperspective of the
working animals where as Levinson exposes the already set corruption through a narrative
perspective of The Fixers. In Orwell s text he explores the corruption of the animals ideals of
Animalism, similarly Levinson depicts a country s corruption of the ideals of truth. Animalism,
fundamentally corrupted in the situational corruption of the Old Major s to the final words of the

not come to resemble him , by the final the lines of the book this has been wholly corrupted when

Integration Is A Dynamic Process
Integration is a dynamic process, driven by a variety of forces and actors that, through their
interactions, build and shape the institutional structure of the European Union. This emergent
political order was not an overnight, linear growth process but rather a stop go system built on the
steady development of a new political system with intergovernmental and supranational institutions
and complex decision making techniques. Fostered off the shared foundation for peace and unity,
key integration players such as Jean Monnet and Robert Schuman were vital to the blueprints of
integrative efforts with their respective contributions. While not perfect by nature, integration
efforts have developed their individual advantages and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the unification of two crucial manufacturing economic sectors, steel and coal, the
development of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) was established. With hopes of
maintaining peace, production control, and mutual surveillance, six countries stepped up and began
the forward march towards integrative and cooperative foundations through Europe s first
supranational institution. These six included Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and
the Netherlands and they later signed the Treaty of Paris in 1951, as the U.K. notably remained on
the sidelines.
Jean Monnet and Robert Schuman were the two key players in the development of the ECSC on
May 9th, 1950. Recognized as the birth date of the European Union and as founding fathers,
Schuman s Plan established common interests between member states to set the stage for gradual
political integration. Schuman stated that, Europe will not be made all at once or according to a
single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements. His leadership later continued as the
President of the predecessor of the European Parliament. Monnet was also dedicated to integrative
implementation and was seen as the inspiration behind the Schuman Plan. As a longtime economic
and financial leader in various European endeavors and military equipment production, Monnet was

NYU s liberal arts program has the potential to not only liberally educate me but also to globally

Throughout high school, I enjoyed both sciences and humanities. NYU s liberal arts program
would allow me to pursue both while having access to a dynamic city. NYU s characteristics as a
large university would grant me access to a network of opportunities from research to internships.
At the same time, NYU s global initiative would enable me to study abroad in Florence, a personal

Wei Chen is just about the coolest character in the book, American Born Chinese, and being the
coolest character in the book comes with its perks, or downsides. Wei Chen is definitely an
abstract character especially because Wei Chen has two different personalities or egos . There
is a fake Wei Chen, and a real Wei Chen. They both are the same person just show up at different
times or act very differently than Wei Chen normally would. The fake Wei Chen starts with the
moment Jin plants a big wet one on Suzy and Wei Chen gets upset as a result. But even though
he is mad at Jin, he s so humble. He says to Jin, If you had feelings for Suzy, you could have told

smartest, geekiest, nicest guy who, after Jin apologizes to him starts to analyze the pearl milk

when there was stir fry being made close by. Then after accepting Jins apology, invites him to a
real boba tea shop down the street. Basically the message that Wei Chen sends is that, all is
forgiven. Its just how Wei Chen acts, he isn t the kind of person to bundle up all the anger and
hold a grudge, especially if he sees someone doing good. Like Jin when he makes his apology.
Which with all that being said is why Wei Chen is the coolest character in the book, or better yet
the hero. He may seem weird and awkward at first but he doesn t care what anyone thinks and he

A manifesto is a declaration of beliefs, values, principles, or intent. It is to express one s ideas in
simpler words. Peter Singer s essay is a manifesto for an Animal Liberation movement. Throughout
the whole essay he describes the multiple ways how humans exploit animals. Singer believes
animals do feel pain although they do not have a form of communication using syntax. Singer uses
persuasion when the element of the language barrier between humans and animals roll in. Humans
are different and suffer pain because they have a language governed by using syntax. On the other

Essay on The Battle of Crete
| The Battle of Crete: Important or Insignificant? | The Battle of Crete began May 20th, 1941.
Nazi Germany launched an airborne attack called Operation Merkur or Operation Mercury on the
island of Crete. This battle will be important because it will hold great influence over the course of
the war in the means of power. The Greek, Allied forces and even civilians attempted to defend the
island and after day one the Germans suffered heavy casualties. The next day, the Allies were
confident they could gain control back but they would have miscommunications that would lead to
Germany gaining Maleme Airfield and flying in reinforcements to overwhelm the defenders of the

Alan Clarke said that the Germans felt it was forcing them to take over Mussolini s
responsibilities in the Balkans in order to secure their southern flank against the Soviets.
Knowing this, it begs to question why Hitler had to secure his flank against a country that he
was not at war with. Another historian, Graham Ross, also states that Hitler would have to
rescue Mussolini from the results of his military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply
secure the Balkans for Axis power caused a setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the
Germans to take control. The Italians were much more humane and civilized when it came to
fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel and barbaric. This could be the reason
why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The Italians did not have the fighting
mentality like the Germans did. Of course there are those such as Murray that beg to differ in
opinions about the course of the war. After the Germans had eliminated Greece and Yugoslavia,
they decided to make one last objective and that was attacking Crete. Hitler ordered an airborne
attack to finish the campaign and secure the Romanian oil fields from threats of bombing. Hitler
stated, Crete was the correct choice but such an attack would rely heavily on airborne forces. The
Germans had hoped that by taking control of the airfields they could create a bridgehead

The Late Pastor Of My Church
The late pastor of my Church used to always tell the following story.
So I heard about an old travelling pastor, perhaps you heard about him too. Back in the 17 and
1800 s because there were more churches than there were pastors to fill these church pulpit
vacancies there were pastors who would get on their horse and ride from one town to the next town
filling in for worship services when these individual churches didn t have pastors. Well this
particular pastor was in the middle of this trip between two small towns when he had to stop and
get his horse a drink and food. As he was waiting in the shade of a tree an old farmer came up to
him and said, hey, you a pastor? the pastor of course nodding his head in approval and the pastor
said, nice day, isn t it? The old farmer said sure it s nice for you. You aren t doing any real work.
All you have to do is ride around on that horse thinking about God all day long, while I have to
sweat here in this field and then walk home afterward. I don t think it s right you should have
things so easy while I have to work so hard. The pastor was a bit confused, but not at all offended
by the statement he responded: You know, you re right about that. I mean you have to work in
these fields and that s hard work, and I admire that about you. But please understand, the work that I
do is still work. ... Oh yea, sure, but it s not really work. I mean all you really do is ride around

Dreaming Is Something We ve All Experienced While Sleeping
Dreaming is something we ve all experienced while sleeping. Our dreams are produced by an
altered state of consciousness, in which images and fantasies become mixed with reality. We all
experience dreams that range from the pleasant and the not so pleasant or nightmares. Dreaming is
still largely a mystery to science, as experiments are conducted to figure out why we dreamand how
dreams function. We do know one thing for sure, that everyone dreams unless in the rare case
they are prevented by meditation or a brain injury. Dreams occur in two states; REM sleep and
non REM sleep which are very different and give the dreamer different sensations. In REM sleep
our dreams contain intense emotions, visual and auditory hallucinations. While in NON REM
sleep our dreams tend to be dull and realistic, compared to REM sleep dreams that are illogical
and incoherent. The contents of the dream can be linked to certain parts of the brain that is
activated during our sleep, so in REM sleep, parts of the brain that control motivation, emotion,
and reward are activated while areas in the pre frontal cortex are deactivated; since the prefrontal
cortex is necessary for self awareness this is believed to be the cause for why REM dreams are
irrational.
Rem stands for rapid eye movement, during REM sleep neutrons in the brain, specifically in the
occipital cortex and brain stem regions, are more active during REM sleep than during waking
hours or compared to non REM sleep. While this is

technological advancement of the clutch has had very little impact on clutch facing technology.
Earlier asbestos was used as friction material in single plate dry friction clutch. Asbestos is
hazardous to human health and detrimental to environment. So recently kevlar49/Epoxy material is

Clutch Facing Clutch facing is the heart of clutch assembly which actually transmits power from
engine to transmission or drive shaft. It is a friction surface which binds face plate of fly wheel
and pressure plate of clutch assembly. A major benefit to using a lining or facing is that it prevents
metal to metal contact within the clutch set, resulting in less wear and tear on the clutch
components. Clutch facings tend to have mid level coefficients of friction, and are responsible for
removing most of the clutch vibrations from the engine. They also aid in allowing engines to
achieve high speeds without damaging the components. Fig.1 Clutch Facing 3. Desirable
Characteristics of Dry Clutch Facings Clutch friction linings are subjected to severe rubbing so that
generation of heat in relatively short periods takes place. Therefore, the lining material should have

Like many things, my journey to Hong Kong has a beginning, middle and end but, not in that

Inching my way towards the city lights, I left the Philippines for a new world half expecting 9

Unexpected changes may be disruptive, and leadership may encounter resistance. To manage
technology changes the first step is to understand technology dynamics, and resistance it generates.
According to Regan and O Conner (2002), managing organizational changes requires understanding
the variables and their interdependencies; creating a climate for learning; recognizing new power
distributions and handling complexity, ambiguity, and uncertainty. Of course, technology changes
take a toll on the employee s morale and managerial time and emotion. Sometimes plans are
abandoned because of strong employee resistance or because the managers feel unprepared or
unable to implement the changes successfully. (Chapter 11.2.2 Technology Brings Change).

First in order for the goals and objectives of the communications plans to succeed, It is very
important that staff involved in this plan are aware of the leaderships support and direction. In
addition, leader s needed to speak positively about the project, and the process changes involved the
staff should expect. Management needs to speak honestly and listen to all levels of the

Science And The Art Of Science
A couple of years ago my daughter, who will graduate with a degree in biology from UC Santa
Cruz this June, shared a pivotal quote with me. The quote, by nature philosopher Vladimir
Nabokov, states, There is a high ridge where the mountainside of scientific knowledge joins the
opposite slope of artistic imagination; where precision of poetry and the art of science can meet.
She said it reminded her of all the years she watched me with my students, exploring and healing
wild places. This was, and is, one of the most profound compliments I have ever received. There
is a multitude of ways to approach teaching students about our Earth, some technical, some
artistic, some spiritual, but to effect lasting change, one has to touch on all three. Throughout my
23 years as an environmental educator, I have often said my true goal is to guide students toward
a love and desire to protect our planet and each other the science they learn is a happy side effect.
But side effects can have lasting effects, and make no mistake the science is critical. Hooking
students emotionally, though, opens their minds to the science, to a desire to know the world
around them, to a willingness to absorb the science because it explains what they love. As
educators, volunteers, and docents, our challenge is to create that high ridge for students, to teach
natural history in an imaginative, artistic way one that presents science as a form of poetry from
the heart. It is hard to ignore the cries

that the legalized abortion would be work and solve a problem in society. In the United States, the
legalized abortion was used since 1973. After legalized abortion used, there is an extremely
controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a
woman should have the right to choose. In my opinion, the legalization of abortion should be
banned because it has increased crime rates, child abuse, furthermore, dramatically changed sexual
relationships.
The first reason why the legal abortion should be banned is it increased crime rates, instead,
reduced crime rates. In 2001 John Donohue and Steven Levitt, economists, was published a
research about the effect of legalized abortion on crime. They claimed that the legalized abortion
unexpectedly lowered crime rates and their finding indicates that crime in the United States started
to decline in 1992. Later, in 2005 Levitt and Dubner was published a ... Show more content on

Legalized abortion is one of many possible factors that it can potential damage on the future of
parents and children relations. It is possible that if parents do not value children before birth it
may lead parents to devalue children who are born. According to www.life.org.nz, women who
were sexually abused as children, are more likely to seek abortions. Evidence from another study
indicates that approximately 80% of the relationships examined, break up following an abortion.
We collected that data from a large post abortion counselling service. This study of clients of a

Feminism In The Spice Girls
The Spice Girls believed in girl power and empowering women and during the 1990s, feminism
was a larger topic. But what is feminism in the first place? The Merriam Webster s dictionary
definition of the word feminism is, the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of
the sexes. This sounds like something good, right, making people equal no matter their gender.
However, many people don t stop to do their own research and get caught up with what their
friend or favorite youtuber says about feminism, and most of the time those people didn t do
their research either. So, there are many misconceptions people make of feminism. For example,
some women are told they cannot be feminists because they like girly things, such as makeup
and fashion. (Wood 2) Telling a girl she can t wear makeup at all if she is a feminist is like
telling a man he can t wear sweatpants at all if he is a businessman. Another is that feminism is
about making women more powerful than men. This is not at all true, for feminism is about
equality and not saying women are superior. Samantha Wood, a feminist, comments on this saying,
Since when do women have to be more powerful and more appreciated? (Wood 2) These both go
back to the point of people only believing what they hear and not investigating issues for
themselves. A lot more people (including anti feminists) would probably support feminism on the
spot if it was called something like equalism. (Wood 1) Now that the definition of

American Imperialism In Australia Essay
The reasons for colonisation by the Spanish in the Americas and the British in Australia had many
similarities. These similar factors included, improving trade routes, expanding their colonies for
wealth and power and obtaining new resources. In addition, both groups wanted to explore beyond
their own country. However, there were also a few big differences. For example, the British used
Australia for the keeping of convicts, due to the overcrowded prisons in their own country. They
also wanted to claim the land, preventing settlement in Australia from other countries, such as the
Netherlands (Dutch). An aim for the Spanish, in the Americas, was to convert more people to
Christianity, as well as becoming more well known and important. In the... Show more content on

In both the Americas and Australia, the native dwellers were forced to relocate and adapt to new
circumstances, due to the taking of land by the Europeans, who felt that they had the right to, due
to their self proclaimed superiority. The weapons of the Aztec and the Aboriginal cultures were also
influenced in big ways after the colonisation; as they adopted many of the settlers more
technological weaponry. The Indigenous in the Americas and Australia were forced to change their
religious beliefs, and become Christians. The Aboriginals in Australia were sent to mission stations,
and were made to forget their own beliefs and traditions, which were seen as nomadic to the British.
The Indigenous people were thought to be inferior by the colonisers, and as a result, were the
victims of injust treatment. In both situations, the Indigenous people were met with torture and
abuse, as well as manipulation. Their rights were cruelly taken away and they were forced to
become slaves for the colonisers, who took advantage of the skills and abilities of the Indigenous
people. In Australia, the Indigenous Aboriginals were poisoned and hunted by the European

Office Department Of Veterans Affairs
I. Executive Summary Over the past years a problem has been brewing at the Department of
Veterans Affairs that has impacted its clients. This problem has for the most part been sifting
through the Department very silently and was until very recently a casual occurrence of everyday
work at Veterans Affairs. I am talking, of course, on the recently discovered problem that has
proven to be such scandalous and embarrassing for the Department, the rigging of veterans
schedules for purposes not pertaining to the betterment of the services or the betterment of the
veteran clients. No surprisingly this scandal has taken its toll beginning with the resignation of the
head of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the firing of various... Show more content on

II. Issue History 1. Statement the Impact of the Problem The main problem is that some
agencies within the Department of Veterans Affairs across the States have been rigging client
schedules in an illegal fashion for different illicit, unprofessional purposes. One can only
imagine the disorder that this practice causes. Not only does it wreak havoc on clients that are
in need of a health care service but also provide, if not stopped, institutionalization of an illicit
practice which in turn breaks down transparency and accountability. It is therefore important that
policy makers and the new heads of the Department act as quickly as possible in order to make
critical short term changes that will eventually make way for long term goals. One major
consequence of this problem is that supervisors were asking staff to alter the scheduling sheets in
order to meet the fourteen day goal required to attend a veteran (Cohen, 2014). In other words,
fourteen days is the appropriate span of time that the local agency has to call up a veteran to
provide him/her with the suitable health service. Because of mounting pressures of trying to meet
this goal the local agencies, seeing there were too many patients and impediments, made up
unofficial lists of those patients they were going to make wait longer and only input those patients
they knew could be called up within

One Sunday, after introducing myself, Nancy asked me, Why don t your children attend Sunday

I explained, I support Christian education for everyone; however, I also want my children to
participate fully in the mainstream worship of the Church. I then added, If you re schedule Sunday

Although Jesus did not directly reveal himself to them, Cleopus and the other disciple recognized
Jesus in the breaking of the bread. This is knowledge only God gives.
Peter also came to understand the Pascal Reality through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. Peter s
confession of Christ at Caesurae Philippi ( Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not
revealed to you by humans, but by my Father in Heaven Matt. 16: 16 17) exposed the human
intellect s inability to unite Christ s messiah ship with Christ s death and resurrection. The Holy

knowledge of salvation.
Jesus instruction to the twelve disciples, Take up your cross and follow me , further reveals how
extemporal realities like the cross guided Jesus actions throughout his earthly ministry. The cross
produces faith in his followers. Indeed, one can only approach faith non rationally from ground
zero of one s being. Human understanding falls silent at the foot of the cross. Jesus, at his trial,

Finding Truth in Lies in Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell to...
Finding Truth in Lies in A Farewell to Arms
The foundation of Hemingway s A Farewell to Arms is based on lies. Hemingway exposes the
reality, or truth, of love and war by presenting the story of Lieutenant Henry and Catherine
Barkley, lives ironically entrenched in lies. Henry in particular assumes a different role at every
turn, pretending, for example, to be a soldier, a civilian, a doctor or Barkley s dead fiancГ©.
The lies in Henry s life begin when he joins the Italian army. Here, he pretends to be one of the
guys, silently siding with their bawdy humor and macho activities and not the morality of the priest.
Hemingway best displays this conflict in the scene where the priest urges Henry to visit Abruzzi

Henry pretends to be a civilian, adopting many different forms of that which is anything but
military dress.
Also, when the Swiss authorities question the purpose of Henry and Barkley s presence in
Switzerland, he again must pretend to be other than an American member of the Italian army.
Henry says to the officials he is a sportsman in Switzerland for the winter sport (279, 280). He also
tells the officials he has been studying architecture. My [Henry s] cousin has been studying art
(280). Henry uses this blatant lie to become a civilian, hiding his military background.
Others also understand Henry s tendency to pretend. For example, Rinaldi comments that Henry
only pretend[s] to be an American (66). The priest later contradicts this statement: You [Henry] are
a foreigner. You are a patriot (71). Henry often plays the role of the patriotic Italian, then the role of
the patriotic American, then the role of the concerned observer, while never committing to any one
ideology. Rinaldi and the priest have seen this change in facades within Henry, as he assumes
different defining characteristics.
One of Henry s greatest lies centers around his relationship with Barkley. Initially, Henry wants
Barkley only for physical satisfaction, and he will do whatever she wants to get some. He tells
her he loves her with the hope that the declaration will prompt her to kiss him: I lied. I love you

Characteristics of a Serial Killer
In the sick minds of those who murder, pain and death are twisted into a passion to kill. Unlike a
normal individual, serial killers rely on murdering to fulfill their craving of their gruesome thrills
and addiction. Most of society incorrectly views serial killers because of how they are portrayed on
television. For example, Dexter is a handsome serial killerwho does lead a normal life but, he takes
it upon himself to rid all of the bad guys in the world in order to accomplish his need to kill. Then
there s Freddy Krueger, he gets revenge and kills people in their dreams, causing their death in the
real world as well. Michael Meyers and Dr. Hannibal Lecter are more examples of infamous serial
killers. All of these exaggerated serial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

want to be friends. I didn t know what made people attractive to one another. I didn t know what

Ted Bundy was attractive, intelligent and had a future in politics, he was also one of the most
prolific serial killers in U.S. history (Brogaard and Marlow). Furthermore, most serial killers
have a history of neglect, injury or abuse in their childhood. Such as, Jeffrey Dahmer, whose
mother was ill during her pregnancy. In his early adolescence, he was then sexually molested by
a neighbor boy in rural Bath Township. Then later on down the road, his parents went through a
rough divorce which he took to heart greatly, as they both left him out of a decision in choosing
a home because he had recently turned 18 years old. Feeling insecure and abandoned, Dahmer
began experimenting with fire, and collecting road kill and stripping the animal carcasses and
saving the bone. A serial killer is not born with a desire to kill, it s their morbid experiences early
on in their life that cause psychological damages that drive them to power and the thirst for
murdering (Jeffrey Dahmer). The kind of experiences a serial killer had in their early life can
sometimes depict the forms in

A Lecture Series For Students
Randy had ten tumors on his liver, and he only had a short time to live. Carnegie Mellon, the
university where he worked, offered a lecture series for students wherein educators shared advice
based on lessons learned from their lives. Randy had his chance to share before he died.
When he was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Randy was very optimistic. He had high hopes
that he could beat the disease with radical treatment. Unfortunately, the most extensive surgeries
and treatments weren t enough.
When Randy was asked to do the lecture, he looked forward to the chance to share what he had
learned in life. His wife, Jai, was not as enthusiastic. She knew that he would pour a lot of time and
energy into the lecture, and she wanted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Randy also went on to show how he was privileged enough to help others achieve their dreams,
also. He highlighted lessons he learned along the way and offered advice to students on how to
live life to the fullest. He also highlighted people who helped him achieve his dreams.
He spoke about how much his parents meant to him and how wonderful they were. They
encouraged him to research and to dream. They also taught him about generosity and reaching out
to others.
Randy talked about responsibility and working with others. This was a big deal to him. He had a
very strong sense of positive work ethic, demonstrating how success came from a bit of luck but
mostly from dedication and hard work. He emphasized how important it was to get along with
others and find ways over and around walls and blocks that stood in the path to achieving dreams.
He talked about meeting his wife later in life. They had a very close relationship, but the closeness
resulted from continuously working on the marriage. He talked about how they planned for her
future without him. Randy also talked about how people were helping him deal with his situation
and how much he appreciated it.
At the end of the lecture, Randy pointed out that the lecture was for his children. His greatest
desire for them was for them to know he loved them. He also wanted them to grow up to follow
their own dreams, facing life as they saw fit.

These companies are using some sort of measurement system. We use something called imperial

amongst them, so they only adopt on system of measurement. Why do scientists only prefer one
system of measurement? I think this is simply due to them not wanting to convert all their units

The Global Positioning System (Gps)
Introduction:
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite based navigation system made up of a
network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally
intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for
civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There
are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.
The GPS is made up of three parts: satellites orbiting the Earth; control and monitoring stations on
Earth; and the GPS receivers owned by users. GPS satellites broadcast signals from space that are
picked up and identified by GPS receivers. Each GPS receiver then provides three dimensional ...

Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the
time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now,
with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user s
position and display it on the unit s electronic map. Figure: Working module.
A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position
(latitude and longitude) and track movement. With four or more satellites in view, the receiver can
determine the user s 3D position (latitude, longitude and altitude). Once the user s position has been
determined, the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed, bearing, track, trip
distance, distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time and more.
When people talk about a GPS, they usually mean a GPS receiver. The Global Positioning System
(GPS) is actually a constellation of 27 Earth orbiting satellites (24 in operation and three extras in
case one fails). The U.S. military developed and implemented this satellite network as a military
navigation system, but soon opened it up to everybody else. Figure: NAVSTAR GPS satellite

The name Tsukiyama refers to the creation of artificial hills. Karesansui Gardens illustrate natural landscapes in a more abstract way, using stones, sand and some paths bags for the most representative mountains, islands, rivers and seas. The gardens are strongly influenced by Zen Buddhism and used for meditation. Sakura and the Cherry Blossom Festival Sakura (cherry blossom) is Japan s unofficial national flower. • 4. The Causes And Consequences Of Drunk Driving Drunk driving is a serious offense that not only effects the drunk driver, but also the people around the drunk driver. Drunk driving causes serious accidents that often end with someone being seriously injured, or killed. There are many ways to prevent drunk driving from license suspension to incarceration. Another way to prevent drunk drivingis to rehabilitate the drunk driver by initiating the ignition interlock device. This device is installed in a vehicle of a driving while intoxicated (DWI) offender to prevent them from driving while drunk. Society pushes for states to have harsher punishments for DWI offenders, however, a more rehabilitative stance should be taken with the ignition interlock device because it prevents DWI offenders from driving while intoxicated, it enables DWI offenders to still be able to drive to maintain their responsibilities and practice safe driving habits, and it reduces recidivism rates among DWI offenders. Prevents Driving While Intoxicated A more rehabilitative stance should be taken with the ignition interlock device because it prevents DWI offenders from driving while intoxicated. Fulkerson (2009) states that whoever is driving a vehicle that has the ignition interlock device installed must blow into the device, so it can detect whether there is a presence of alcohol (p. 110). The device will test their blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and if it is above a certain level the car will not start. According to Fulkerson (2003) says, The interlock system can also be programmed to require subsequent breath samples, called rolling re tests, which are used to deter an impaired driver from attempting to get his or her vehicle started with the aid of a sober person (p. 223). If alcohol is present with a rolling re test the vehicle will start honking it s horn until the driver pulls over. These tests also deter a driver from drinking while the car is in motion. The ignition interlock device may not be perfect, but it is certainly a great way to stop drunks from driving. Driving while intoxicated is a serious problem that can be reduced by the ignition interlock device. The device should be required by all states as soon as someone obtains a DWI, because the device prevents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before HBCU s were established blacks were denied a higher education because there were only white institutions. This organization was established in the year of 1964. Most of the HBCUs were created after the Civil War. However there were three colleges that were established before the Civil War Cheney Universityof Pennsylvania, Lincoln University of Missouri, and Wilberforce University of Ohio. Historically Black Colleges are starting to have more white students than blacks in the schools. When people hear about these types of universities they assume that only blacks attend the school. • 6. A Comparison Of The American Dream And All My Sons Alrighty, I am going to kind of mash together question one and two. I wanted to discuss the American Dream and All My Sons, but I also think that topic really, nicely goes into the relevance it has today. The American Dream can be worded and defined in different ways. But as stated in Question 1, The American Dream can be defined as the idea that in the US anyone can become successful through hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. I think that is a definition that everyone can agree on, more or less. The Cambridge Dictionary also defines the American Dream, the belief that everyone in the US has the chance to be successful and happy if they work hard. Also as stated in Question 1, All My Sons is often described as a negative critique of the American Dream. I m sure we can all immediately recognize and understand what Joe Keller did is wrong and goes against what you would think the American Dream is. He kept information from authorities about the cylinders so he could get out of jail. Deever was kept in jail because of Keller s lies. Not only that, but 21 pilots died too. There is a huge moral and ethical responsibility to tell the truth and do the right thing. However, Keller lied and kept information so that he could make money and get out of jail..again, leaving Deever to sit in prison. Keller never thought about Deever, only himself and his company. During the time of the incident (1947) stress was high and they had to make quick decisions. All of the companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Switching Costs Since there are many stores, like McDonald s and Starbucks that are also providing all kinds of healthy smoothies with a price that is similar to Jamba Juice s, buyers actually will not face high switching costs. Therefore, low switching costs enhance the bargaining power of buyers. Product is Undifferentiated Even though Jamba Juice advertizes that its products are healthy, low in calories and rich in vitamins, many other stores also provide the similar smoothies or fast foods. This indicates that Jamba Juice s products are not differentiated. Consumers can still find products in other stores that are familiar to Jamba Juice s, which enhances the power of buyers. Power of suppliers For restaurant retailers, the power of suppliers is high. This can be indicated by lack of substitute produces and low importance of restaurants as buyers. Availability of Substitutes Although Jamba Juice demands a large amount of agricultural commodities to help produce the healthy and organic smoothies, these commodities are limited. There are not other substitutes can replace these agricultural commodities to make smoothies as healthy as the organic raw materials. Hence, this gives the suppliers the opportunities to raise the price or decrease the quality of the agricultural commodities. • 8. Dementi A Clinical State Caused By Neurodegeneration Essay Dementia is a clinical state caused by neurodegeneration and characterized by a loss of function in cognitive domains and behavior. There are several different causes of dementia including Alzheimer s disease (AD), vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Hippocampal sclerosis of aging (HS aging) is prevalent in people of advance age, manifests with distinct neuropathological properties, and can be present with or without other dementia causes and vascular diseases [1]. Although HS aging is poorly understood, this phenomena may describe a proportion of non AD dementia [2]. The prevalence of HS aging pathology ranges from 5 to 30% in older people [3 6]. HS aging is generally diagnosed postmortem by the presence of TAR DNA binding protein 43 (TDP 43). The clinical signs and symptoms of HS aging are similar to those of AD with amnestic memory deficits [7, 8]. Because of the overlapping symptomology, HS aging is often clinically misdiagnosed as AD [7 9]. AD is characterized by accumulation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles [10], while HS aging is pathologically characterized by neuronal loss with gliosis in the subiculum and Cornu Ammonis area 1 (CA1) region of the hippocampus, which can occur unilaterally or bilaterally [6, 7]. Genetic risk factors for HS aging have been recently identified. Unlike AD, the apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4) genotype is not a risk factor for HS aging [11]. Potassium channel subfamily M regulatory ... • 11. Impact Of Globalization In Nigeria The term globalization gets mixed in conversation without even slipping our brains what it is. But what is it? Globalization is the thought of corporations transferring employment overseas to those who will work for less. However, globalization can be expressed even wider, which incorporates numerous influences. With that being said, the most fitting meaning would be that globalization is the collapse of barriers among countries permitting labor, goods, and services to be freely exchanged. Consequently, one feature that appears to be debatable is the how globalization has moved the prosperity of others. For instance, subcontracting has led to a massive majority of employment for people in underdeveloped countries giving the ability to gradually creep out of poverty. But yet there are still additional countries that observe their poverty rate rise steeply. We will take a provocative look at globalization, where it improves a country such as Nigerias economy. We will talk about how things like Nigeria s use of Credit, reliance on foreign technologies, lack of raw materials, production of substandard goods, government policies and education comes into effect on their actual rapid growth in the economic aspect. The organization of the Nigerian economy is a characteristic of an underdeveloped country. These include earned income tax credits, American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning Education Tax Credits, and Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. Under joint filing, the couple could exclude the income of $500,000 from the sale of their personal residence, while separate filing would only allow a $250,000 deduction. 2)Rules on Income a)Taxable and Nontaxable Income Child support that Spouse B receives is not taxable since it is not considered income. Any form of child support is not taxable. Alimony that is paid out by spouse A is deductible since it is going to be taxed on the recipient of the alimony as income (John Wiley Sons, 2013). b)Short term and long term capital gains or losses A capital gain or loss is considered on the sale or the returns from an asset. Most people try to put off going to the dentist until their teeth hurt so much that they have no choice but to visit the feared dental office. Waiting for pain in the mouth or gums before visiting a dentist is one of the worst things a person can do. Paul J. Flaer, et al. observes, Fear in approaching the dental visit may be generated by psychosocial factors such as history of bad experience(s) at the dentist and by the effect of poor representations of dental treatment in the media (104). If more people could get over their dentophobia they might have better oral health and probably better overall health. Many people do not realize how important the dentist really is but the... • 18. Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different aspects, I feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this, the tools needed was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass. Using the ball cutter, you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After that is made, take the pliers to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What you do is align the cut with the line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The grozing pliers are used for non straight cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your hand as the other and go on either side of the score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first struggled with figuring out how to position my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the glass, and the angle to put my hand. Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass that had a curved score. Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At one point I ended up deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the pieces cut. After all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. This didn t seem to challenge me at all, but rather proved to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is chiefly associated with the baroque era (1600 1750) and embodies characteristics of exuberance and articulation, reflective of the time period in Western Europe. Italian harpsichords were lightly constructed and veneered in natural wood to allow the tone colour to vary from brittle, well defined and percussive, to bright, shimmering and incisive. Sound is produced by plucking a string when a key is pressed down, but, a distinct feature of the harpsichord is its incapability of dynamic gradation, rendering it limited to one unvarying volume. Performing artists could not convey the same degree of musical expression on the piano as that of other instruments. This artistic desire for dynamic freedom ultimately led to the development of what is now known as the modern piano. Bartolomeo Cristofori, an Italian instrument crafter, produced a breakthrough technological advance; a new mechanism for the harpsichord which allowed for it to be played with dynamic variations. He named this invention gravicembalo col piano e forte, or harpsichord with soft and loud , later known as the pianoforte . Cristofori s innovation included an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alan Clarke said that the Germans felt it was forcing them to take over Mussolini s responsibilities in the Balkans in order to secure their southern flank against the Soviets. Knowing this, it begs to question why Hitler had to secure his flank against a country that he was not at war with. Another historian, Graham Ross, also states that Hitler would have to rescue Mussolini from the results of his military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply secure the Balkans for Axis power caused a setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the Germans to take control. The Italians were much more humane and civilized when it came to fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel and barbaric. This could be the reason why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The Italians did not have the fighting mentality like the Germans did. • 39. Science And The Art Of Science A couple of years ago my daughter, who will graduate with a degree in biology from UC Santa Cruz this June, shared a pivotal quote with me. The quote, by nature philosopher Vladimir Nabokov, states, There is a high ridge where the mountainside of scientific knowledge joins the opposite slope of artistic imagination; where precision of poetry and the art of science can meet. She said it reminded her of all the years she watched me with my students, exploring and healing wild places. This was, and is, one of the most profound compliments I have ever received. There is a multitude of ways to approach teaching students about our Earth, some technical, some artistic, some spiritual, but to effect lasting change, one has to touch on all three. Throughout my 23 years as an environmental educator, I have often said my true goal is to guide students toward a love and desire to protect our planet and each other the science they learn is a happy side effect. But side effects can have lasting effects, and make no mistake the science is critical. Hooking students emotionally, though, opens their minds to the science, to a desire to know the world around them, to a willingness to absorb the science because it explains what they love. As educators, volunteers, and docents, our challenge is to create that high ridge for students, to teach natural history in an imaginative, artistic way one that presents science as a form of poetry from the heart. It is hard to ignore the cries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The word abortion by definition means the induced expulsion of a fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Some country, abortion became legal because an authority thought that the legalized abortion would be work and solve a problem in society. In the United States, the legalized abortion was used since 1973. After legalized abortion used, there is an extremely controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a woman should have the right to choose. In my opinion, the legalization of abortion should be banned because it has increased crime rates, child abuse, furthermore, dramatically changed sexual relationships. The first reason why the legal abortion should be banned is it increased crime rates, instead, reduced crime rates. In 2001 John Donohue and Steven Levitt, economists, was published a research about the effect of legalized abortion on crime. The Merriam Webster s dictionary definition of the word feminism is, the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. This sounds like something good, right, making people equal no matter their gender. However, many people don t stop to do their own research and get caught up with what their friend or favorite youtuber says about feminism, and most of the time those people didn t do their research either. So, there are many misconceptions people make of feminism. For example, some women are told they cannot be feminists because they like girly things, such as makeup and fashion. (Wood 2) Telling a girl she can t wear makeup at all if she is a feminist is like telling a man he can t wear sweatpants at all if he is a businessman. Another is that feminism is about making women more powerful than men. This is not at all true, for feminism is about equality and not saying women are superior. Samantha Wood, a feminist, comments on this saying, Since when do women have to be more powerful and more appreciated? (Wood 2) These both go back to the point of people only believing what they hear and not investigating issues for themselves. A lot more people (including anti feminists) would probably support feminism on the spot if it was called something like equalism. (Wood 1) Now that the definition of ... II. Issue History 1. Statement the Impact of the Problem The main problem is that some agencies within the Department of Veterans Affairs across the States have been rigging client schedules in an illegal fashion for different illicit, unprofessional purposes. One can only imagine the disorder that this practice causes. Not only does it wreak havoc on clients that are in need of a health care service but also provide, if not stopped, institutionalization of an illicit practice which in turn breaks down transparency and accountability. It is therefore important that policy makers and the new heads of the Department act as quickly as possible in order to make critical short term changes that will eventually make way for long term goals. One major consequence of this problem is that supervisors were asking staff to alter the scheduling sheets in order to meet the fourteen day goal required to attend a veteran (Cohen, 2014). In other words, fourteen days is the appropriate span of time that the local agency has to call up a veteran to provide him/her with the suitable health service. Hemingway exposes the reality, or truth, of love and war by presenting the story of Lieutenant Henry and Catherine Barkley, lives ironically entrenched in lies. Henry in particular assumes a different role at every turn, pretending, for example, to be a soldier, a civilian, a doctor or Barkley s dead fiancГ©. The lies in Henry s life begin when he joins the Italian army. Here, he pretends to be one of the guys, silently siding with their bawdy humor and macho activities and not the morality of the priest. Henry pretends to be a civilian, adopting many different forms of that which is anything but military dress. Also, when the Swiss authorities question the purpose of Henry and Barkley s presence in Switzerland, he again must pretend to be other than an American member of the Italian army. Henry says to the officials he is a sportsman in Switzerland for the winter sport (279, 280). He also tells the officials he has been studying architecture. My [Henry s] cousin has been studying art (280). Henry uses this blatant lie to become a civilian, hiding his military background. Others also understand Henry s tendency to pretend. For example, Rinaldi comments that Henry only pretend[s] to be an American (66). The priest later contradicts this statement: You [Henry] are a foreigner. You are a patriot (71). Henry often plays the role of the patriotic Italian, then the role of the patriotic American, then the role of the concerned observer, while never committing to any one ideology. Rinaldi and the priest have seen this change in facades within Henry, as he assumes different defining characteristics. One of Henry s greatest lies centers around his relationship with Barkley.
