Why Do You Admire Helen Keller
Strong people don t put down others down, they lift them up is a internet sensational quote that means
a lot to me. It means a lot to me because I admire many strong people. These people have never
groaned once while suffering through pain. I admire Helen Keller greatly because she persevered
through being blind and deaf beginning at the age of just six months old. Another strong person that I
admire is my mother. I admire my mother because she has fit time into her daily schedule to take my
sisters and I all kinds of places when she could have been doing other things. I also admire my mother
because she has accomplished many things while going through very hard times. The last person that I
admire the most is my father. My father is the strongest person I know because his body has been
through too many injuries to even count; during those injuries, he never cried once. There ... Show

Keller funded many projects and started many organizations. She wrote a great amount of letters to
ask for donations to fund her projects. Eight of the many letters that she wrote went to eight different
presidents. Helen Keller is known as an inspirational figure. Helen Keller is the most admirable person
in my point of view because of all of her accomplishments.
Secondly, I admire is my mother. My mother has accomplished so many things during hard times. My
mom has accomplished having three children, having a job, taking care of her mother with Alzheimer
s, and many many other things. My mom s mother, my grandmother, was diagnosed with Alzheimer s
Dementia when she fell and hit her head about two years ago. My mom has struggled with taking care
of her and taking care of her children, my sisters and I, along with sending my oldest sister off to
college this year. I want to be just like my mother and I want to be able to handle as much as she does
and not let it take hold of me. My mother is the strongest woman I know. She is truly an inspiration to

Columbine High School Essay
COlumbine High School
On the morning of April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold approach Columbine High School,
in Jefferson County, Colorado. Armed with one 10 shot Hi Point model 995 carbine rifle, one Intratec
AB 10 (TEC 9) pistol, two Savage 12 gauge shotguns, and as many as ninety five explosive devices,
Harris and Klebold enter the school near the cafeteria. Upon doing so, they are met with the words
that God commanded unto Moses on Mount Sinai: Thou Shall Not Kill. Harris and Klebold tremble in
fear and shame for what they have come to accomplish. Dropping their weapons, the boys fall to their
knees, bow their heads in penance, and pray to God for forgiveness.
Instead of that scenario the boys fired off an estimated 900 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The logical assumption to make is that having God in school (in the form of the Ten Commandments)
would have prevented Columbine. That is quite a substantial claim, but it only shows the magnitude of
faith that some Christians place in the Word.
In 1999, an attempt to pass a law mandating the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools
(not coincidentally attached to a gun control bill) failed for reasons stated by People for the American
Way on their website:
First, posting the Ten Commandments is a solution in search of a non existent problem. Religious
Right rhetoric notwithstanding, religion and prayer have not been banned from public schools; in fact
the First Amendment protects students rights to pray, discuss religious views and read religious texts
in school. Second, posting the Ten Commandments would violate the First Amendment by requiring
schools to favor one religion over another; the Supreme Court ruled so in 1980.
What is at stake here is not a student s right to practice religion in school that right is already
guaranteed; rather, the Christian Right wants to be seen as doing something about school violence.
The Ten Commandments as touted by Tom DeLay become a symbol of spirituality, a means to gauge
both the morality of a school population and the pro activeness of the Christian Right in combating
school violence.
Not all in the Christian Right are so naïve as to think that the displaying of the Ten Commandments
is a panacea for

Racism Of Huck Finn
Is Huckleberry Finn racist? Huckleberry finn or huck finn for short has had plenty of controversy
since the book was first published. Many people believe that because of the words Twain used in the
book many people blatantly believe that the book huck finn is racist. Since the book was First
Published people have been trying to ban and not allow people to read huck finn. Many people believe
that Huck Finn should not be taught in school simply because of the tone and words Twain decided to
use while writing the book while others on the contrary believe that Huck Finn had a powerful
message that spoke against racism and slavery. Falling from grace ( Twain 35) This quote can mean
many different things but how most people see it, it can show how much this book affected racism and
hate in america it really portrays what life was like during the time period that Huck Finn was set in.
Why should Huck Finn be taught in school and why is there so much controversy surrounding a novel.
The video we watched in class gave us the story of a mother and a daughter who decided that because
their views and closed mindedness was more important than allowing students to learn what life was
like and why it is so important to never repeat those mistakes again, all because they are to feeble
minded to realize the impact of Huck Finn. Huck Finn as a work of literature is very important in that
Twain wrote the book using the style of

Summary Of Clare Boothe Luce s Speech
As society advances and the opinions of the general public change several press outlets work to stay
up to date with the changing times. However, in an attempt to stay modernized journalists often times
sacrifice their integrity to stay favorable in the public eye. These degrading actions, often times
sacrifice the true news for more appealing news. Clare Boothe Luce, American journalist and
politician, gives a controversial speech to the Women s National Press Club condemning her female
audience. Moreover, as a female addressing an audience of women she is able to give her true opinion
and is able to honestly critique her colleagues. She persuades her audience by preparing them for the
criticism by reiterating that she is the guest, by praising journalism, and by logically providing
reasoning that the journalistic view must change for the good of the general public.
Luce begins her speech by expressing her happiness and excitement for being invited to be the guest
of honor at the Women s National Press Club. Expressing her happiness, she says she is flattered and
challenged by the opportunity to give her speech. However, as she continues her introduction by
repeating her introductory statement she alters it by saying that she is less happy and more challenged
than one might know. The slight change in her statement prepares her audience for something that
they may view as unpleasant, so that they do not feel shocked about what they are about to hear. Not
only is Clare Luce able to subtly communicate with her audience but she is also able to provide signs
that can help them better understand her purpose. Additionally, in order to remind the audience that
they asked for her opinion, Luce states that she did not offer to give the speech rather she says you
asked for it, reminding the audience that her opinion and critique is exactly what they requested. The
repetition of the nature of her speech allows Luce to confirm that her audience is clear about her
intentions with the speech that she is about to give.
As Luce continues her speech she softens her audience for the criticism by praising their careers and
their writings. Yet, she continues to provide warnings by retelling them that they are an

Leadership Primer Lessons
I believe that the philosophies described in General Powell s Leadership Primer is generally applicable
to law enforcement as well as the military. Being in a leadership role in a police department you are
forced to take on different roles and adjust your style given different situations. Therefore, not all
principles or Lesson which are described in the primer can be held true during all situations. These
lessons should be looked at as a guide toward leadership and not be held as gospel or hard fast rules.
The reason I believe these lessons apply to law enforcement is that basic leadership qualities are
needed for any organization. The former top down coercive leadership styles of the military is an
antiquated practice. The lessons in this primer show a more fluid and ... Show more content on

I spent years struggling and fighting to get to the position where I sit now on the organizational chart
at my department. However, the thing which I have learned during that time is that respect of others is
eared and cannot be bestowed on you by another (Daly, 2016). Being a leader does not always mean
that you are the owner of a fancy title, know the most information or have the ability to recite policies
and procedures. The true essence of the leader is showing courage, tenacity and patience when others
lose their cool, having faith in others while taking responsibility for your own actions and having the
ability to listen while being a successful communicator. As an effective leader, you must lead from the
front of the pack and set an example for those that choose to follow you. Being able to repeatedly
demonstrate ones expertise, job knowledge or interpersonal skills while completing a task or mission
in front of your employees is key. The supervisor who sits behind a desk and rarely gets out with the

A Blonde Curtain Of Hair
A blonde curtain of hair stands between me and the girl, who keeps her head down and tucked into her
knees as if ashamed to be near me. My eyes dart around the room, but all I see is black, black walls,
black floors, and the black dress draped over the blonde girl s pale frame.
She looks up and my sister s face is the one that greets me. Emma, I want to say Em, what s going on?
But my lips won t move. No sound is heard throughout the room until I hear her voice Why Alice!
Why did you try to save me! Maybe you could have saved yourself! Tears roll down her face as she
stands walking to where I lay in my wooden coffin . She walks over to me and closes the case.
You failed me.
Those words echo through my mind again and again as I wake, shooting up from my cot, my breath
heavy and my entire body damp with sweat.
I try to shake off the memory of the dream, reminding myself won t give me anything but guilt but it
stays with me haunting my every thought.
I try and take care of my morning routine like always but the memory of the dream continues to
consume my thoughts, I climb to the top of my bed frame and peer out the tiny window at the lawn,
thinking that the small bit of sunlight I can get will help me clear my brain, but I m just reminded of a
time where we would be allowed out there. The privilege was revoked years ago after information
about a planned insurgence in the yard was leaked. I sighed, my toes curling with the desire to sink

Security in a Post September 11th World Essay
The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, have greatly changed security policies in the United
States. September 11, 2001, is an infamous day that has changed the United States in numerous
aspects. After this infamous day, many people live with the fear of experiencing another major attack.
After the attacks the national Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as
the 9/11 Commission, was created. One task given to the 9/11 Commission was to provide
recommendations designed to prevent future attacks. In order to prevent another attack the power of

The system did not protect against suicide bombing or hijacking. The prescreening system has since
been expanded to protect against these threats by triggering a secondary screening of passengers and
carry on items. The checkpoint screening technology used on September 11, 2001, received very little
improvement since the 1970s; therefore, the technology was very limited in its capabilities. One goal
of the TSA was and still is to correct the vulnerabilities of screening technology. Eventually, Whole
Body Imaging, or WBI, machines were developed to remove the vulnerabilities of the screening
process. However, WBI scanners struggle to gain acceptance by passengers because of many believe
the machines invade one s privacy due to the high resolution, reveling images of the passenger. Health
precautions also are factors in people s reluctance to use the machine. Many people fear that
possibility of being irradiated by the x rays used by the machines. When going through airport security
today, one will be given the choice of using the WBI scanner or have a pat down by a TSA officer. The
9/11 Commission called for the addressing of human factors issues at screening checkpoints. Human
factors issues that need to be addressed included screener selection and training, fitness for duty, and
human interaction with screening technologies. To improve the issues in this area, universities and

Alternate Dispute Resolution at Darden Restaurants and...
ADR at Darden Restaurants and Hooters of America
More companies are turning to alternate dispute resolution (ADR) as an alterative to the judicial
system for settling employee disputes. There are some clear advantages and disadvantages to ADR for
both employers and employees. The best designed ADR programs are those that are fair and impartial.
A good ADR program should seek to find the best possible outcome for both parties while saving time
and money and preserving relationships. The least effective ADR programs tend to be unfair and
perpetuate the imbalance and bargaining power discrepancy frequently found in employer employee
relationships.

The court has determined that the Darden program appears to meet the legal tests for ADR. It is
important to note that Darden does not expect to reduce expenses via reduction in the payout of
damages and compensation to employees with legitimate claims; rather, their expected cost savings
lies in reducing court related fees.
In stark contrast, Hooters ADR program is a one sided agenda designed to help the company win
arbitration cases and save time and money. The ADR program takes advantage of the company s
superior bargaining power: employees must sign the agreement to arbitrate disputes in order to be
eligible for raises, transfers, and promotions. Employees are allowed only five days to review and
decide if they will accept or reject the agreement.
Hooters ADR agreement states that the company has the right to change the rules and procedures at
any time even while in the midst of an arbitration proceeding without notice. In addition, the rules
require employees to disclose their cases to the company, along with a list of witnesses and a record of
facts known to each witness. Hooters, meanwhile, is not required to reciprocate by disclosing the
details of its defense. The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit summed it up by
stating that the Hooters rules are so one sided that their only

Literary Devices In Touching Spirit Bear
How many times have you said you re sorry, and has it made any difference? Have you ever done
something simple words can never undo? In the realistic fiction novel Touching Spirit Bear, by Ben
Mikaelsen, Cole Matthews commits serious damage to not only others, but himself. He has to learn
through trial that words cannot heal the soul, but actions can. After beating up Peter Driscoll Cole
needs to find himself and learn to heal the people he hurt. Most importantly, how to rid himself of
anger. As Edwin says, anger will always be a part of him but he can control it. No matter how many
times he says sorry it will never truly work. Therefore, the main theme of Touching spirit bear is none
other than actions will speak louder than words.

No wonder people don t believe him when he has something to say. If someone had nearly killed your
child it wouldn t be surprising if you didn t trust them. After Cole returns from his first trip to the
island after burning up his cabin and getting mauled from the spirit bear, he definitely changed. He has
no need to prove himself anymore. For example, I wasn t lying. Deliberately he raised his hand and
tossed the hair into the water. Beginning today, he would tell the truth. His words would become his
only proof.(Pg.112, Mikaelsen) This shows how Cole is done trying to prove himself and done lying.
He is going to act right and when he threw the hair of the Spirit bear into the water he committed the
action of believing himself, and that was enough for him. This proves how words are not as important.
Additionally, in the last few chapters of the book Cole and Peter decide to soak alone together in the
morning. Peter gets angry at Cole but Cole stays calm. Peter throws multiple punches at Cole but he
isn t letting it change his feelings. At the end they both start to cry and they hug. All of the sorrys Cole
has given does not mean anything more than this specific moment. In this scene they learn to forgive
one another, without saying so. Therefore you don t need words to fix a situation. They just needed to

What Makes A Person Whole And Morally Sound
Virtues are what make a person whole and morally sound, they are the good that can come from
behavior or result from something (Dictionary.com). Romans believed that these were what a mortals
life was based off of. The Aeneid Virgil includes many of the virtues that the Romans value, one being
magnitudo animi. Magnitudo animi translates to greatness of the soul. This greatness of the soul is
what a person has from the inside and makes them deal with the hardest decisions or the easiest. They
persevere and in the end come out great. One person or demi god that represents magnitudo animi is
Aenas from The Aeneid. Aenas deals with his struggles and remembers what it means to have this
virtue and is the best example of this. In The Aeneid it goes through the story of Aeneas and Dido.
Aeneas deals with his journey to find Rome due to his destiny and in the course of this meets Dido,
the Queen of Carthage (Line 15 16 Virgil). Dido is so infatuated when she first sees Aeneas that she
instantly wants to break her vow to her dead husband of never being with another man; I recognize the
signs of the old flame, of old desire. But O chaste life, before I break your laws, I pray that earth may
open, gape for me.... (Line 31 34 Virgil). After Dido prayed to the gods and got their permission. The
gods heard her wish and Juno along with Venus planed the event of the two becoming one; Plan

Beta Alanine Essay
Beta alanine (BA), only recently, has rapidly become one of the most popular performance enhancing
compounds in the world. Since the first human study in 2006, BA is commonly found in most popular
pre workout supplements on the market today (Trexler, et al., 2015). BA is a naturally occurring amino
acid produced in the liver. BA is also contained in animal proteins such as turkey and beef, and
therefore can be increased somewhat through the consumption of animal protein. Significant
increases, however, require various means of supplementation. Beta alanine has been cited as a rate
limiting precursor to carnosine synthesis (Harris, et al., 2006). BA supplementation has been shown to
increase levels of carnosine in skeletal muscle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additional roles of carnosine beyond Ca2+ regulation and pH buffer include its ability to act as a
scavenger of free radicals and singlet oxygen, both of which are not only damaging, but also limit
performance (Kohen, et al.,1988). Regarding BA supplementation and administration, there has been
some opposing views on which means of supplementation is most beneficial. Some research suggests
that BA is most effective when front loaded. Consuming 4 to 6g per day, preferably with meals has
demonstrated the maximum desired effect, with more significant benefits seen after four weeks
(Harris, et al., 2009; Stegen, et al., 2013). Some clinicians, however, maintain that oral administration
is minimally effective. A 2016 study by Sharpe, Macias demonstrated a definite improvement in
performance in short duration, high intensity exercise by athletes using a topical gel to administer
carnosine transdermally. The study does maintain that more testing does need to be done, however,
brings up scientific reasons why oral ingestion may be less efficient due to GI damage to the
supplement. The purpose of this literature review is to provide insight into the effects of beta alanine
in performance. The research demonstrates that BA ingestion is, in fact, beneficial to athletic
performance, with a significant portion of data showing it is more efficient in shorter duration,
moderate to high intensity activities lasting 60 to 240 seconds specifically.

Scientific Management was comprised of four principles:
Every step of individuals work is analyzed in a scientific method to come up with the most effective
way for getting the work done. It is the way to develop and come up with the best possible approach
for an individual to preform a task by examining instruments needed and by measuring the maximum
amount of work a worker can do in a day.
Matching workers with the job that is best suited for them in a scientific method. According to Taylor
everyone was able to do his or her best in a specific job that was devised. The management s role was
to match the job with the worker that has the capability to do it and train them accordingly.
Managers should provide supervision and cooperate with workers to make sure the job is done in an

Mangers and workers responsibilities are divided, managers spend their time supervising and planning

A Vist to Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple on Clark and Lunt
I visited Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple, located on Clark and Lunt, founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta
Swami Prabhupada. A temple is a place of worship for followers of Hinduism. The important aspect of
a Hindu temple is that it not only focuses on communal worship but it also serves as the home of God;
most temples enshrine Vishnu, Shiva, or the Goddess and their encourages. Although it is not
mandatory to visit a temple, it is considered to be a vital role in the Hindu community.
The Hare Rama Hare Krishna was the very first temple I visited. There was a little garden area that led
to the first door. The door to the entrance was quiet simple, not like I expected. I have always thought
the temple doors would be highly decorated, representing an elegant line of antique furniture. As I
stepped inside, we were to take our shoes off, as an act of respect and devotion. Visitors and
worshippers are required to remove any footwear before entering. The shoes are taken off so they don
t make the house of God dirty; it is a normal custom in India. There was another door that led to the
hall, where the murtis (statues) of the deities were present. Above my head, I witnessed a bell (ghanta)
hanging down. This was to be rung before taking your first step in. Heading into the hall, I
immediately noted how lively the atmosphere was and how clean and unsoiled everything was. Large
crowds of people gathered around to prepare for the prayer. What I found really interesting was that

CART Vs Propaganda
As the strategic marketing analyst for IndyCar, I believe it is in our best interest to orchestrate IndyCar
Series races in the United States, with one single game in a foreign market; preferably a Hispanic
market. CART tried to tap into the foreign market even while utilizing foreign drivers, but it was not
successful. According to Ferrell Hartline, CART feared they were loosing the interest of Americans
and began races in foreign countries and they put too much focus on promoting top foreign drivers as
CART stars (2014, p.442). Furthermore, stars should happen naturally, to alter the media to showcase
foreign stars should solely depend on talent not propaganda.

History of the Hollywood Star System Essay
The star system was a method of developing and advancing the popularity of Hollywood movie stars.
The system, which began during the height of the Hollywood studio system era, emphasized the image
of the actor instead on the actual acting. The movie studio s profits were driven by the popularity of
the stars that appeared in their films. According to Rocco, the stars had long term contracts with the
movie studios that paid them a weekly salary, and the stars were identified with specific types of
characters that would often be repeated in many movies. Belton stated that the star provides the studio

The Life of a Registered Sex Offender

Abstract
When we hear the phrase, sex offender, we normally feel repulsed. We think of dirty old creepy men. I
for one used to do this, I won t lie. This is because people like to rush to judgment. But my opinions
changed when I came to the realization that it s not just creepy old men who are sex offenders. I want
to talk about them, but not those who are serial rapists or child molesters; they don t deserve to be
talked about. I m talking about people who are convicted, whether it s falsely, or unjustly, and have to
wear a stamp on their forehead for the rest of their lives saying they are a sex offender.
I have an uncle named Michael and he s 29; he ll be 31 in October. In 2006 in Fredericksburg,
Virginia, he was convicted of rape. A young woman lied and said he raped her, and now he will
forever be scarred. In many rape cases, the defense will say that the victim was fantasizing the rape or
is lying, but sometimes she really is lying (Siegel, 1995, p. 304). Virginia has a two tier system for sex
offenders, violent and non violent. Even though Michaels charge was for the rape of an adult, he is
still considered a violent sexual predator, forever. This means he can t go to McDonalds, he can t go to
see his nieces and nephews, and he couldn t even go to my high school graduation two

Woman is the source and sustainer of virtue and also a prime
source of evil. She can be either; because she is, as man is not,
always a little beyond good and evil. With her powerful natural
drive and her instinct for the concrete and personal, she does not
need to agonize over her decisions. There is no code for her to
master, no initiation for her to undergo. For this reason she has
access to a wisdom which is veiled from man; and man s codes,
good or bad, are always, in their formal abstraction, a little absurd
in her eyes . . . 1
In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying, all roads lead to Addie. As Diane
York Blaine aptly observes: The title ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

narrates a significantly shorter portion of the novel than the rest of the
Bundren family (only one chapter, in fact), and her death occurs well before
the story s conclusion. For these reasons, earlier criticism evaluated Addie not
as an individual, but in relation to the other members of the Bundren clan,
specifically, the men. Overall, Addie s importance to the novel was grievously
underestimated by early critics such as Edwin Muir, who observes:
We are told far more about Addie Bundren s corpse . . . than
about herself . . . The most interesting character is the corpse, not
in its former incarnation as a human being with feelings, affections,
and a soul, but simply in its dead, or rather gruesomely
alive state . . .3
Just as Anse is unable to discern the difference between words and acts, Muir
is unable to recognize Addie in anything but a symbol, defined by the physical
presence of her dead body.
Other critics were more overt in their patriarchal assessments. James
Burnham sternly commented on the theme of un romanticized sex in the
novel. Dewey Dell and Addie are seen as guilty of this charge; their rejection
of maternity as a consequence of sex deems them unnatural, contributing to
the theme of moral nihilism 4 that pervades the novel. Thus, early criticism,
still largely dominated by conservatively patriarchal

The Call Of Isaiah
The introduction of this passage in Isaiah the six chapter begins by giving the reader an account of
what is known as the the call of Isaiah . We also can see that Isaiah is more than just a prophet, but he
is a visionary, leader, priest, and a messenger of things to come. Not much about Isaiah is known
except the names of his father, and last two sons. We also see in Scripture, according to Isaiah 8, that
he is married, and his wife is a prophetess, but her name isn t mentioned in Scripture. There has never
been a vision in scripture so clear that depicts God as sitting on a throne . Yet the imaginative details
of Isaiah s vision opens the door for the reader allowing him/her to see an active God, instead of one

For years the king had lived in alienation and separation, under divine displeasure (2Ki. 15:5; 2Ch.
26:16ff.), and as his death approached he remained, to the human eye, uncleansed. Thus, Uzziah, as
the darkness of death closed in upon him, was symbolic of Isaiah s view of the nation, its plight and its
problems.
Another question that arises during the reading of this narrative is, what is the tension between the
prophetic office and the political position? Again, as stated before, this is unusual behavior for a
prophet to make mention during the time of his call. I can understand that Isaiah is possibly standing
in the office of priest during this time but how does this transitional calling influence the people
around and the culture of the social climate. In looking into the later parts of the vision, it could be
possible that the position of God sitting on a throne is a revelation that mirrors God being identified as
Lord and moving Isaiah from one office of responsibility to the next.
Next Isaiah gives a picture description of the beginning part of the vision. He references God sitting
on a throne, high and lifted up, and his train feeling the Temple . This for some scholars has given
implication that Isaiah is present in the Temple during the time of the vision, thus suggesting that he is
also a priest during the time of his call. But the divine was not present alone in this experience. Isaiah
also mentions the presence and the attendance of

Summary Of The NARCPAnd NAACP
2. Compare and contrast the activities, strategies, and tactics the SCLC, the NAACP, and SNCC were
involved in during the civil rights movement. In what ways did these organizations differ in their
programs, philosophies, goals and tactics? In what ways were they similar? Cite specific examples of
events/times when these organizations complimented each other (explain how), as well as when they
conflicted (against, specific examples and explain how).
As the oldest of the three organizations, the NAACP was founded in 1909 and in its early years
petitioned for anti lynching laws and Civil Rights legislation. Comprised of blacks as well as whites
the NAACP held a firm belief in the constitution and sought to bring about change by using the legal
system to garner African Americans the equality they deserved. The NAACP established its own legal
fund and went on to win Brown vs Board under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall. They also
worked on the local level supporting things such as the Montgomery Bus boycott as well as providing
lawyers and paying legal costs.
SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) was formed at Shaw University in Raleigh,
North Carolina in 1960. Formulated by young activists, whose primary focus intended for the
movement to rely on local organization and leadership rather than adopting the leadership model that
was employed by the NAACP and the SCLC. In its inception, they were committed to non violent

Epistemic Reasoning In Blaise Collins The Wager
The undermining of pascal s wager by the fine tuning data
In the year 1654 at age 31, Blaise Pascal, the renowned mathematician physicist had religious
experience that caused him to reorient his life towards writing a defense for the Christian faith. One of
his most famous works was on the subject is The Wager , which argues, through cost benefit Analysis,
that individuals should take steps to believe in God. This entire argument hinges on the premise that
epistemic reasoning is incapable of proving, with any real certainty, the existence of God; therefore,
individuals must base their decision to believe, or not believe, on prudential reasoning. Beginning at
the end of the twentieth century and continuing to the present day, scientist and ... Show more content

However, The premise that epistemic reasoning is incapable of educating our decision in believing in
God is a bold claim, on that is disproved by the Fine Tuning Data argument of Collins. Collins
argument sats that the precise balance of the structural settings of the universe that need to be given in
order to permit life, in any form, is more probable given the Theistic Hypothesis that God (God being
an ethereal, omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent, omnipresent mind, not necessarily the
traditional God of Christianity that Pascal is talking about) caused the fine tuning than the Atheistic
Hypothesis that the universe and its fine tuning are simply brute facts. The Principle of Confirmation
therefore lends the Fine Tuning Data as evidence for the Theistic Hypothesis over the Atheistic
Hypothesis. The objection that there are possible tuning values outside the illuminated range that
could be conducive to life falls flat do to the Principle of Indifference (also called the Principle of
Insufficient Reason), which says that since we do not know how the non illuminated range can come
about, then the Fine Tuning Data is still equally improbable inside the illuminated range. The Atheistic
Many Universe objection also comes up short because: there is no evidence that other universes than
ours exist: without a nonrepeating function to the Universe Generator, the probability of achieving the
Fine Tuned Data does not increase, let alone approach one, like the objection intends; and even if there
were a Universe Generator cranking out universes with a nonrepeating function, that is still more

Body Image And Privilege Research Paper
Reflective Essay
Throughout my years in the Women and Gender Studies program here at the University Of Toledo, I
have enhanced my mental capacity in many ways. Being introduced to the program was a gift.
Feminist concepts, ideals, methodologies, understanding myths, stereotypes was beneficial to my
overall success at Toledo. Using the theories and critical thinking skills that were essential to the
program in my professional and personal life helped shape me into the strong woman that I am.
Intersectionality, body image, and privilege are three major themes that will be ingrained in me as I
continue on my collegiate journey.
Intersectionality is described as the integration and connection of a person s race, class, gender, and
socioeconomic status all combined into one. With all of these things taken place in one s life, they can
cause an extreme strain on a person s livelihood. This concept has been consistently brought up in
majority of my classes. Creating a dynamic where the person will or can be judged and harmed
because of all the things that have been ascribed to them. Using this concept as I go forth in my
educational journey will be necessary because it will allow me to better understand someone s
perspective. This will allow me to be more effective when I need to assist them in any services. ...

While in the Women and the Body course, I was able to dissect the images, constraints, and beliefs
associated with the woman s body. The debate over body image originated from patriarchal
constraints, deeming that women have to fit into an ideal of womanhood. A woman s body image is
suppose to be a direct link to the man she is with. She should have childbearing hips, a stature that is
associated in being motherly, and breasts to breast feed the children. With that it grew into using man

Rit Effect Essay
If much of what enters consciousness does so in a reflex like manner, regardless of whether such
contents are a product of high or low level processes, do representations during the process of
refreshing behave similarly down stream? If this notion were to be held true, one would expect little to
no difference in the reflex like entry of contents into consciousness from one point in time to another.
This phenomenon is worth delving into primarily because decision making and directed thought
frequently carries the connotation of being willful, intentional, and vastly different from what one
might experience during the RIT. To test this hypothesis, a variant of the RIT was designed to examine
involuntary cognitions moments after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, participants fail to suppress such subvocalizations on a vast majority of the trials (e.g.,
0.86 in Allen et al., 2013; 0.87 in Cho et al., 2014; and 0.73 in Merrick et al., 2015). In more complex
variants of the RIT (Cushing, Gazzaley, Morsella, 2017), participants would (a) indicate by button
press the basic RIT effect and (b) press another button if the involuntary subvocalization rhymed with
a word held in mind (e.g., stir ). Since the act of rhyming requires the retrieval of either the whole
object name or, at minimum, the coda of the word, accurate performance ( .80 mean accuracy across
trials) on this rhyming task supports the notion that subjects involuntary experienced such
subvocalizations. Though the RIT has revealed many insights, the entry of unintentional contents into
consciousness is not fully understood. Correspondingly, the many processes that give rise to the RIT
effect are the result of a synergistic cascade. For example, in order for the effect to arise, there first
needs to be the induction of an action set (e.g., to not subvocalize the name of visual objects). The
final mechanism that results in the RIT effect occurs when the onset of the visual object activates the
stages of processing that lead to the action effect of subvocalizing. It is important to note that, without
the activation of the relevant action set, it is unlikely that participants would experience the

activates to fit the tastes and preference for all the ages. For example, having two kinds of the
rollercoasters, one for adults and another safe one for children and of course some activities that

The Banking Concept Of Education By Paulo Freire
According to Paulo Freire in The Banking Concept of Education, the narrative nature of the teacher
student correspondence is toxic and counterproductive in any form (Freire 259). To capture this idea,
Freire makes education synonymous with a teacher making deposits into the mind of a student, but the
scope of action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits
(Freire 260). Therefore, interpretation and creativity are commodities that do not reach the surface of a
student s work or thoughts. A personal example of such a loss in experience comes directly from my
freshman high school English class, and said experience strongly represents a banking atmosphere. In
contrast, a problem posing classroom would inspire original thought and energetic conversation. All in
all, the teacher student relationship is a critical focal point in terms of whether or not a classroom is
successful.
Paulo Freire recognizes the practice of roles that mirror oppressive society by noting the
overwhelming social acceptance that the teacher is the Subject of the learning process, while the
pupils are mere objects , utterly halting any sort of independent or creative thinking from a student
(Freire 261). Suddenly, the outlook of having no dialogue between a teacher and student, only
opinionated information transference, eliminates the possibility for innovation. In my English class,
my teacher spewed information at the class to memorize and

Divorce Rate In America Essay
As America s divorce rate continues to skyrocket, it seems that morality continues to plummet.
Approximately sixty five percent of all marriages in America end in divorce, and this number does not
seem to be declining any time soon. Are we creating a new generation Y of single parents? Is a broken
home the wave of the future? If Americans don t get a grip on morality, this will surely be the case.
It is not possible to pinpoint exactly why America s divorce rate is so high, much higher than that of

And while many Americans claim to not practice or justify infidelity, it still remains the number one
cause of divorce (Treas 51). American s no longer have the fear of being shunned from society after a
messy divorce. When my mother s parents divorced in 1965, they had to leave their neighborhood.
The entire family was exiled from its catholic church where they were faithful members, and suddenly
my grandmother couldn t find a bridge partner in the entire town. I don t feel that couples who get
divorced should be treated as if they have the plague. On the other hand, our society s nonchalant
acceptance of divorce makes it seem as if marriage is not meant to be a permanent situation for most.
Many more couples live together prior to marriage than in the past (an approximate increase of more
than 60%) and these couples are less likely to stay married, probably due to the fact that they are less
conservative about marriage and divorce in the first place (Stanley 57). It is this less conservative
approach that dooms America s marital future.
Another contributing factor in today s divorce rate is simply a lack of respect for marriage vows. They
seem to be taken with a grain of salt. No one remembers saying for better or worse , instead they hear,
he/she will do until something better comes along, until he/she strays, until his/her ex comes looking

Phonological asynchrony
The major impact of elevated temperature is the associated advancement in the phenology of life
history events for many plant and animal species which ultimately results in disruption of synchrony
between the interacting pairs. Especially the specialists are more affected than generalist species. For
example the spatial mismatch between the monophagous insect Boloria titania (Esper) (Lepidoptera:
Nymphalidae) and its larval host Polygonum bistortad was reported due to differential range
expansion of each species (Schweiger et al. 2008). Another example for phenological asynchrony is
recorded by Visser and Holleman (2001), they reported that 90% eggs of winter moth, Operophtera
brumata (L.) (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) hatched before the new leaf flush appearance of its host,
Quercus robur. Insects are more capable of advancing their lifecycle to the changes in their host this
was reported by Both et al., (2009) in his long term experiment in European mixed wood land
comprising four trophic levels viz., oak, oak moth, song bird and hawk. The generalist pollinators are
keeping pace with climate indued changes in the flowering phenology of plants (Bartomeus et al.,

an act of policy. Carl Von Clausewitz describes war as a true political instrument carried out by other
means. The United States policy on containment was an important motive in analyzing their
involvement in the civil war between North Korea and South Korea. President Harry S. Truman was
receiving increased domestic pressure not to appear soft on communism. The United States chose to
go to war in Korea to contain communism.
The Domino Theory was the idea that communism was an aggressive, expanding imperialism that
would spread from one country to the next and shaped United States policy on Asia during the Cold
War. The United States government used the Domino Theory to justify their support of a non
communist regime in South Korea against the communist government of North Korea. China became
a communist state in 1949 and President Truman feared the next domino would be Korea. President
Truman quantified, If we let Korea down, the Soviets will keep right on going and swallow up one
place after another.
In The Sources of Soviet Conduct, George F. Kennan explained Containment was the central post war
concept of the United States and its allies in dealing with the Soviet Union . To contain communism,
the United Stated strategy was to have a strong

Net Income Of Both Exxon And Chevron
1. Compare and contrast the limitations and usefulness of the single step income statement and the
multi step income statement.
A single step income statement lists all expenses and cos of goods sold in one column; it does not
break expenses down into categories. They are all totaled and listed together. Even though the single
step income statement lacks in detail, many companies still like to use it because it is easy to prepare
and read. To expand, the single step income statement is short and to the point and is a great tool to
use for persons who want or only need to see the bottom result. A multi step income statement lists
income and expenses into three main categories with subtotals to give a much better breakdown to the
financial reader. The multi step income statement shows the different sources of income and expenses
making it much for detailed for the financial reader. Although the multi step income statement is more
time consuming to prepare it provides a more in depth financial picture of the company to the
creditors and lenders.

I, Savannah Parmelee believe an individual s right to privacy should be protected if they do not violate

Victims Of Homosexuals During The Holocaust
The holocaust started in 1933 when hitler was the ruler. At first, Hitler didn t want to kill the Jews he
just wanted them to leave. The Jews didn t want to leave their homes. When hitler start to kill them he
brought them to concentration camps. He brought them to the camps by a train. During the Holocaust,
German authorities also targeted others groups because of their race. Other groups were persecuted on
political, ideological, and behavioral grounds, among them Communists, Socialists, Jehovah s
Witnesses, and homosexuals. Although Jews, whom the Nazis deemed a priority danger to Germany,
were the primary victims of Nazi racism, other victims included some 200,000 Roma. At least 200,000
mentally or physically disabled patients, mainly Germans, living in institutional settings, were
murdered in the so called Euthanasia Program. The Nazis sent 10,000 15,000 homosexuals to
concentration camps where they were forced to wear pink triangles. The Nazis also carried out pseudo
research to find out if homosexuality was inherited by injecting them with male hormones. They
offered homosexuals their freedom if they would agree to be castrated or submit themselves to sexual
abuse and prostitution. Under these conditions, an estimated 6,000 9,000 homosexual inmates died in
the camps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It means a lot to me because I admire many strong people. These people have never groaned once while suffering through pain. I admire Helen Keller greatly because she persevered through being blind and deaf beginning at the age of just six months old. Another strong person that I admire is my mother. I admire my mother because she has fit time into her daily schedule to take my sisters and I all kinds of places when she could have been doing other things. Armed with one 10 shot Hi Point model 995 carbine rifle, one Intratec AB 10 (TEC 9) pistol, two Savage 12 gauge shotguns, and as many as ninety five explosive devices, Harris and Klebold enter the school near the cafeteria. Upon doing so, they are met with the words that God commanded unto Moses on Mount Sinai: Thou Shall Not Kill. Harris and Klebold tremble in fear and shame for what they have come to accomplish. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The logical assumption to make is that having God in school (in the form of the Ten Commandments) would have prevented Columbine. That is quite a substantial claim, but it only shows the magnitude of faith that some Christians place in the Word. In 1999, an attempt to pass a law mandating the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools (not coincidentally attached to a gun control bill) failed for reasons stated by People for the American Way on their website: First, posting the Ten Commandments is a solution in search of a non existent problem. Religious Right rhetoric notwithstanding, religion and prayer have not been banned from public schools; in fact the First Amendment protects students rights to pray, discuss religious views and read religious texts in school. Second, posting the Ten Commandments would violate the First Amendment by requiring schools to favor one religion over another; the Supreme Court ruled so in 1980. What is at stake here is not a student s right to practice religion in school that right is already guaranteed; rather, the Christian Right wants to be seen as doing something about school violence. The Ten Commandments as touted by Tom DeLay become a symbol of spirituality, a means to gauge both the morality of a school population and the pro activeness of the Christian Right in combating school violence. Not all in the Christian Right are so naïve as to think that the displaying of the Ten Commandments is a panacea for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people believe that because of the words Twain used in the book many people blatantly believe that the book huck finn is racist. Since the book was First Published people have been trying to ban and not allow people to read huck finn. Many people believe that Huck Finn should not be taught in school simply because of the tone and words Twain decided to use while writing the book while others on the contrary believe that Huck Finn had a powerful message that spoke against racism and slavery. Falling from grace ( Twain 35) This quote can mean many different things but how most people see it, it can show how much this book affected racism and hate in america it really portrays what life was like during the time period that Huck Finn was set in. Why should Huck Finn be taught in school and why is there so much controversy surrounding a novel. The video we watched in class gave us the story of a mother and a daughter who decided that because their views and closed mindedness was more important than allowing students to learn what life was like and why it is so important to never repeat those mistakes again, all because they are to feeble minded to realize the impact of Huck Finn. • 5. Summary Of Clare Boothe Luce s Speech As society advances and the opinions of the general public change several press outlets work to stay up to date with the changing times. However, in an attempt to stay modernized journalists often times sacrifice their integrity to stay favorable in the public eye. These degrading actions, often times sacrifice the true news for more appealing news. Clare Boothe Luce, American journalist and politician, gives a controversial speech to the Women s National Press Club condemning her female audience. Moreover, as a female addressing an audience of women she is able to give her true opinion and is able to honestly critique her colleagues. She persuades her audience by preparing them for the criticism by reiterating that she is the guest, by praising journalism, and by logically providing reasoning that the journalistic view must change for the good of the general public. Luce begins her speech by expressing her happiness and excitement for being invited to be the guest of honor at the Women s National Press Club. Expressing her happiness, she says she is flattered and challenged by the opportunity to give her speech. However, as she continues her introduction by repeating her introductory statement she alters it by saying that she is less happy and more challenged than one might know. The slight change in her statement prepares her audience for something that they may view as unpleasant, so that they do not feel shocked about what they are about to hear. Not only is Clare Luce able to subtly communicate with her audience but she is also able to provide signs that can help them better understand her purpose. Additionally, in order to remind the audience that they asked for her opinion, Luce states that she did not offer to give the speech rather she says you asked for it, reminding the audience that her opinion and critique is exactly what they requested. The repetition of the nature of her speech allows Luce to confirm that her audience is clear about her intentions with the speech that she is about to give. As Luce continues her speech she softens her audience for the criticism by praising their careers and their writings. Yet, she continues to provide warnings by retelling them that they are an ... Being in a leadership role in a police department you are forced to take on different roles and adjust your style given different situations. Therefore, not all principles or Lesson which are described in the primer can be held true during all situations. These lessons should be looked at as a guide toward leadership and not be held as gospel or hard fast rules. Being a leader does not always mean that you are the owner of a fancy title, know the most information or have the ability to recite policies and procedures. The true essence of the leader is showing courage, tenacity and patience when others lose their cool, having faith in others while taking responsibility for your own actions and having the ability to listen while being a successful communicator. As an effective leader, you must lead from the front of the pack and set an example for those that choose to follow you. My eyes dart around the room, but all I see is black, black walls, black floors, and the black dress draped over the blonde girl s pale frame. She looks up and my sister s face is the one that greets me. Emma, I want to say Em, what s going on? But my lips won t move. No sound is heard throughout the room until I hear her voice Why Alice! Why did you try to save me! Maybe you could have saved yourself! Tears roll down her face as she stands walking to where I lay in my wooden coffin . She walks over to me and closes the case. You failed me. Those words echo through my mind again and again as I wake, shooting up from my cot, my breath heavy and my entire body damp with sweat. In stark contrast, Hooters ADR program is a one sided agenda designed to help the company win arbitration cases and save time and money. The ADR program takes advantage of the company s superior bargaining power: employees must sign the agreement to arbitrate disputes in order to be eligible for raises, transfers, and promotions. Employees are allowed only five days to review and decide if they will accept or reject the agreement. Since the first human study in 2006, BA is commonly found in most popular pre workout supplements on the market today (Trexler, et al., 2015). BA is a naturally occurring amino acid produced in the liver. BA is also contained in animal proteins such as turkey and beef, and therefore can be increased somewhat through the consumption of animal protein. Regarding BA supplementation and administration, there has been some opposing views on which means of supplementation is most beneficial. Some research suggests that BA is most effective when front loaded. Consuming 4 to 6g per day, preferably with meals has demonstrated the maximum desired effect, with more significant benefits seen after four weeks (Harris, et al., 2009; Stegen, et al., 2013). Some clinicians, however, maintain that oral administration is minimally effective. A 2016 study by Sharpe, Macias demonstrated a definite improvement in performance in short duration, high intensity exercise by athletes using a topical gel to administer carnosine transdermally. The study does maintain that more testing does need to be done, however, brings up scientific reasons why oral ingestion may be less efficient due to GI damage to the supplement. The purpose of this literature review is to provide insight into the effects of beta alanine in performance. We think of dirty old creepy men. I for one used to do this, I won t lie. This is because people like to rush to judgment. But my opinions changed when I came to the realization that it s not just creepy old men who are sex offenders. I want to talk about them, but not those who are serial rapists or child molesters; they don t deserve to be talked about. I m talking about people who are convicted, whether it s falsely, or unjustly, and have to wear a stamp on their forehead for the rest of their lives saying they are a sex offender. I have an uncle named Michael and he s 29; he ll be 31 in October. In 2006 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, he was convicted of rape. A young woman lied and said he raped her, and now he will forever be scarred. In many rape cases, the defense will say that the victim was fantasizing the rape or is lying, but sometimes she really is lying (Siegel, 1995, p. 304). Virginia has a two tier system for sex offenders, violent and non violent. Even though Michaels charge was for the rape of an adult, he is still considered a violent sexual predator, forever. • 28. Rit Effect Essay If much of what enters consciousness does so in a reflex like manner, regardless of whether such contents are a product of high or low level processes, do representations during the process of refreshing behave similarly down stream? If this notion were to be held true, one would expect little to no difference in the reflex like entry of contents into consciousness from one point in time to another. This phenomenon is worth delving into primarily because decision making and directed thought frequently carries the connotation of being willful, intentional, and vastly different from what one might experience during the RIT. To test this hypothesis, a variant of the RIT was designed to examine involuntary cognitions moments after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly, participants fail to suppress such subvocalizations on a vast majority of the trials (e.g., 0.86 in Allen et al., 2013; 0.87 in Cho et al., 2014; and 0.73 in Merrick et al., 2015). In more complex variants of the RIT (Cushing, Gazzaley, Morsella, 2017), participants would (a) indicate by button press the basic RIT effect and (b) press another button if the involuntary subvocalization rhymed with a word held in mind (e.g., stir ). Since the act of rhyming requires the retrieval of either the whole object name or, at minimum, the coda of the word, accurate performance ( .80 mean accuracy across trials) on this rhyming task supports the notion that subjects involuntary experienced such subvocalizations. Though the RIT has revealed many insights, the entry of unintentional contents into consciousness is not fully understood. Correspondingly, the many processes that give rise to the RIT effect are the result of a synergistic cascade. For example, in order for the effect to arise, there first needs to be the induction of an action set (e.g., to not subvocalize the name of visual objects). The final mechanism that results in the RIT effect occurs when the onset of the visual object activates the stages of processing that lead to the action effect of subvocalizing. It is important to note that, without the activation of the relevant action set, it is unlikely that participants would experience the phonological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Banking Concept Of Education By Paulo Freire According to Paulo Freire in The Banking Concept of Education, the narrative nature of the teacher student correspondence is toxic and counterproductive in any form (Freire 259). To capture this idea, Freire makes education synonymous with a teacher making deposits into the mind of a student, but the scope of action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits (Freire 260). Therefore, interpretation and creativity are commodities that do not reach the surface of a student s work or thoughts. A personal example of such a loss in experience comes directly from my freshman high school English class, and said experience strongly represents a banking atmosphere. In contrast, a problem posing classroom would inspire original thought and energetic conversation. All in all, the teacher student relationship is a critical focal point in terms of whether or not a classroom is successful. Paulo Freire recognizes the practice of roles that mirror oppressive society by noting the overwhelming social acceptance that the teacher is the Subject of the learning process, while the pupils are mere objects , utterly halting any sort of independent or creative thinking from a student (Freire 261). Suddenly, the outlook of having no dialogue between a teacher and student, only opinionated information transference, eliminates the possibility for innovation. In my English class, my teacher spewed information at the class to memorize and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is a broken home the wave of the future? If Americans don t get a grip on morality, this will surely be the case. And while many Americans claim to not practice or justify infidelity, it still remains the number one cause of divorce (Treas 51). American s no longer have the fear of being shunned from society after a messy divorce. When my mother s parents divorced in 1965, they had to leave their neighborhood. The entire family was exiled from its catholic church where they were faithful members, and suddenly my grandmother couldn t find a bridge partner in the entire town. I don t feel that couples who get divorced should be treated as if they have the plague. On the other hand, our society s nonchalant acceptance of divorce makes it seem as if marriage is not meant to be a permanent situation for most. Many more couples live together prior to marriage than in the past (an approximate increase of more than 60%) and these couples are less likely to stay married, probably due to the fact that they are less conservative about marriage and divorce in the first place (Stanley 57). It is this less conservative approach that dooms America s marital future. Another contributing factor in today s divorce rate is simply a lack of respect for marriage vows. They seem to be taken with a grain of salt. • 36. Impacts On Insect Bio Ecology Impacts on insect bio ecology Phonological asynchrony The major impact of elevated temperature is the associated advancement in the phenology of life history events for many plant and animal species which ultimately results in disruption of synchrony between the interacting pairs. Especially the specialists are more affected than generalist species. For example the spatial mismatch between the monophagous insect Boloria titania (Esper) (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) and its larval host Polygonum bistortad was reported due to differential range expansion of each species (Schweiger et al. 2008). Another example for phenological asynchrony is recorded by Visser and Holleman (2001), they reported that 90% eggs of winter moth, Operophtera brumata (L.) (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) hatched before the new leaf flush appearance of its host, Quercus robur. Insects are more capable of advancing their lifecycle to the changes in their host this was reported by Both et al., (2009) in his long term experiment in European mixed wood land comprising four trophic levels viz., oak, oak moth, song bird and hawk. The generalist pollinators are keeping pace with climate indued changes in the flowering phenology of plants (Bartomeus et al., 2011). In a bitrophic interaction, host parasitoid interaction under elevated temperature and shading was studied by Klapwijk et al., (2010) and they reported that Euphydrias aurinia (Rottermburg) (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) and its specialized Braconidae ... Producing approximately 100 megawatts per hour, this plant needs an exorbitant amount of fuel source to provide this energy ( Generating Power n.d.). Since 1965, the fuel source for this power plant has largely been coal. MSU promotes itself as a green campus, and coal emits a large amounts of emissions; therefore, there has been a shift away from coal. Also, with the new EPA regulations, it would have cost more money to redesign the units to meet these standards burning coal than it would to switch to natural gas ( MSU to Stop 2015). This is why by the end of 2016, MSU will be switching to natural gas as the main fuel source for this power plant. Instead of coal being the main fuel source, it will now be natural gas; using natural gas in place of coal will reduce emissions by approximately 50 percent (Pacala 2004, 969). This is a big step towards MSU s goals of being a green campus and using sustainable energy. However, while natural gas has lower emissions, it does cost more than coal. Analysis Of Carl Von Clausewitz s The Domino Theory In On War, Carl Von Clausewitz stated, When whole communities go to war . . . the reason always lies in some political situation, and the occasion is always due to some political object. War, therefore, is an act of policy. Carl Von Clausewitz describes war as a true political instrument carried out by other means. The United States policy on containment was an important motive in analyzing their involvement in the civil war between North Korea and South Korea. President Harry S. Truman was receiving increased domestic pressure not to appear soft on communism. The United States chose to go to war in Korea to contain communism. The Domino Theory was the idea that communism was an aggressive, expanding imperialism that would spread from one country to the next and shaped United States policy on Asia during the Cold War. The United States government used the Domino Theory to justify their support of a non communist regime in South Korea against the communist government of North Korea. China became a communist state in 1949 and President Truman feared the next domino would be Korea. President Truman quantified, If we let Korea down, the Soviets will keep right on going and swallow up one place after another. In The Sources of Soviet Conduct, George F.
