Ancient Greek Architecture And Its Influence On Architecture
Architecture is art in the form of building structures, and can have both practical and symbolic
purposes. It is, however, much more than just building or just art. The architecture of a civilization
speaks of its people and their story, emphasizes their values, and announces their greatness. A
structure whose architect was inspired by other cultures not only tells of its own civilization, history,
and character, but that of the other influencing peoples as well. The story of peoples is told by their
monuments through the ages, captivating and inspiring those who come later, in future generations
and future civilizations. In the long history of human culture and art, perhaps no greater influence on
architecture has taken place than that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both temples were built to replace earlier temples, with the Parthenon replacing an earlier temple of
Athena, and the Pantheon replacing an earlier private temple constructed by Agrippa, Caesar Augustus

museum, the Pantheon still functions as a Roman Catholic Church (Ask, n.d., para.

Master Cleanse Research Paper
TThe Master Cleanse: Is it the Real Deal? Ever heard of losing ten pounds in ten days? The Master
Cleanse claims this to be true. The Master Cleanse, also called the Lemonade Diet, is a liquid only diet
consisting of three things: a lemonade like beverage, salt water drink, and herbal laxative tea. The diet
consists of consuming nothing but this lemonade drink for ten days (or more) and you re supposed to
shed weight and detox your digestive system. All in all, the Master Cleanse is claimed and intended to
make people healthier, feel more energetic, and happier. Beyonce did the Master Cleanse to quickly

of your system, which can damage healthy probiotic bacteria that aid digestion and help keep your

system and normal bodily functions. According to Tina Rubin who wrote Mastering the Master
Cleanse , Detox symptoms include irritability, aches and pains (including caffeine headaches),
lethargy, and eliminations that burn. Many of the symptoms disappear the next day. After day three,
most people experience no more detox symptoms until day seven or eight, and then it s smooth
sailing. Other than on symptom days, people report having unusual energy, strength, and clarity that
continues throughout the cleanse (3). There seems to be a lot of symptoms that go along with this
detoxing diet but seems to possibly be worth it in the long run. It may only do that for some people

Fireflies Figurative Language
Have you ever had any troubles sleeping at night? Some people might have an inability to sleep, a
sleeping disorder called insomnia. But, for Adam Young, he had trouble sleeping at night, and yet, still
have a very colorful vivid dreams. In Fireflies , by Owl City, Adam Young is trying to show his vivid
dreams when he was young by using many figurative languages such as simile, metaphor, hyperbole,
personification, and repetition.
In the famous single, Fireflies , there were many uses of similes and metaphors to show his vivid
dreams when he was young. In stanza 6, Adam Young sang Cause I feel like such an insomniac . This
is an example of simile, Adam Young is comparing himself to a person who is regularly unable to
sleep. In the last stanza, Adam Young sang Because my dreams are bursting at the seams . This shows
an example of metaphor, because he is comparing two thoughts without using like or as. In stanza 7,
Adam Young sang I got misty eyes as they said farewell . This is another example of metaphor, Adam
Young is trying to convey the idea that he is going to cry as the fireflies said a farewell. By using
many similes and metaphors, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In stanza 6, Adam Young said I m far too tired to fall asleep . This is an example of a paradox, because
the word far too tired seeming contradiction may reveal an unexpected truth. In another stanza, Adam
Young sang awake when I m asleep . This is an example of an oxymoron, because oxymoron is a
combination of two words that appear to contradict each other, and by staying awake when asleep is a
contradictory between the two terms. The use of oxymoron and paradox is shown throughout the lyric.
The purpose is to show that he is awake when asleep at the same time, this will give a clearer idea of
him having a vivid dream when trying to

The Dorm Analysis
Oh, the rights of fall! Summer is retreating, migratory birds start to flock, the first crops are harvested,
and (add dramatic music here) it s time for kids to go to the many colleges and universities around the
country. Dorms will soon be filled, and decorating themes of all types will sprout from the various
rooms. Lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and gymnasiums are important structures to any facility of
higher learning, but one type of building stands alone as the bastion of student interest: The Dorm.
The dorm. That word strikes fear into the hearts of mothers concerned about their baby boy s new

If you are living 9 months of the year in an ode to the mighty cinder block then Halloween can be the
perfect holiday to bust out of a rut and get over the halfway point of the semester. If you room alone,
then you are all set and free to decorate for Halloween at will. If you have a roomie, it would be best
to ask if they have any opinions about decorations before you get started. The ideas in this article are
broken into a couple of themes. The Macabre Halloween Theme To some people Halloween is all
skeletons, Frankenstein, and white sheets. To others it is an all out gore fest best left alone by the faint
of heart. The Macabre Set should get creative with their decorations and give ordinary items a touch of
the bizarre. The best place to start is a good thrift store in the print department. Flip through their
pictures and pull out some old posters or prints and take them back to your dorm room with some
creamy red paint. If you managed to land some prints of bikini clad girls on a beach so much the
better! The girls are always the first to go in a good horror movie, and they will look great in various
shades of terror on the wall. Take your red paint and apply it in a strategic way so as to suggest
trauma. A daub at the temples or a puddle at the feet will be a great opener. Let the paint dry
completely, then take your print and crumble it up slightly before pressing it back out smooth. This
helps disguise the texture of the paint and add a distorted look to the picture. Do this to several
different prints if at all possible, and mix up your selections. Even a peaceful seen of little lambs can
be given a scary twist for Halloween. The best thing to do to really add a touch of the dark side to your
artwork is to plug in a soft nightlight beneath the pictures to cast a glow on them after dark without
having to illuminate your whole room. Pull the covers tight! The Future Homemaker Halloween
Theme This theme is built

Observing Natural Selection
Observing Natural Selection With Different Colored Construction Bugs in a Flowered Meadow
Ashish Cavale Natural sources of variation include: mutations, gene flow, and genetic shuffling.
Mutations are random changes in DNA that result in beneficial, harmful, or no changes in an
organism. Gene flow can also be referred to as migration. It is the exchange of genes of individuals
from one population to another. Genetic shuffling occurs in meiosis when alleles switch to create new
combinations of genes. The steps of natural selection are overproduction, variation, competition, and
selection. Overproduction is important because it keeps the species from becoming extinct and allows
for more variation in offspring. Variation is what can either help the organism have a higher chance of
surviving or could lower the chance of surviving. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Summer Night In The Summer And The Last Summer
I remember it as if it was yesterday, maybe because it was yesterday. No, I m merely kidding. It was
this summer. Not this coming summer, the last summer. And not the summer of the year 2016, the one
from this year, 2017. What happened that summer night? Numerous things. It was any other typical
summer day for me in the ole Fritz household. I was getting bored doing things with Hallie, the dog,
or by myself. I thought of a brilliant idea, I ll invite Kennedy over, it s been forever since I ve seen her.
(It hadn t been an extremely long time since I last saw her, we simply enjoy hanging out.)
Accordingly, I called her up and asked, Hey, are you busy today? Because if not, you should come
over to my house and spend the night or something. She said, No, I m not busy. I need to ask if I can
come, I m sure she ll say yes. I probably need to clean my room first though. Hence, it might be a
while. I told her that was fine and to swing by whenever she was done cleaning, and that was the end
of it. I only had to wait an hour, maybe two, before she arrived at my house. We were incredibly
excited to see each other because, actually, I have no idea why. I mean yes we re excellent friends, still
we saw each other a lot, and we talk, and text all the time. I don t know, we re weird. We always
become excited I suppose. We were comparable to when you come home from a vacation and your

Historians And Their Discourse Community
Historians do research and analyze on past events, old documents, videos and pictures. The
information they get from these sources develops their discourse communities. Each major has its own
discourse communities. A discourse community is a group of people who share common goals and
communicate together in order to achieve goals the group has set for themselves. Historians conduct
research and analysis for businesses, newspapers, governments, and historical associations. They write
historiography essays, and their research sometimes leads them to writing their very own history
books. Many historians build up historical profiles on a certain person, place, idea, or event. Once they
have their research done they look at the work of other historians

Why Is Job Shadowing Important In High School
Why high school does not prepare one for life?
In high school teachers do not prepare you for the things that the real world has. Life lessons should
be taught in high school, young people get out into the real not knowing life lesson skills. However,
most students are not prepared when they get out in the real world. Job shadowing your career

pathways gives you knowledge about the career field that you re going to be in. However, job

apply for jobs, because they usually learn in on their own. Teaching you in school how to fill out
applications for a job should be more likely a bigger deal than what it is. Filling out applications
prepares you for a job, which a job is something you need to survive in the real world, however there
are aspects that come with applying for jobs. Applying for a job should be a class or a taught lesson
while you re in high school. For instance, what you should wear? How to approach the people that are
interviewing you? How to dress? These are important aspects that are not taught before people enter
the real world. However, some people come to interviews dressed any kind of way and saying what

would have been more likely prepared and knew what would come up at the interview and would
know how to approach the situation in a mannerly way. Applying for a job and filling out applications

Garden Gnome Research Paper
SUMMERTIME HAS ARRIVED, AND ON the cooler days, we can work in our gardens and spruce
up our lawn decorations. For some of us, that means we can fuss over our garden gnomes and other
colorful knick knacks and statues. Mankind has been adorning their gardens with small statuary ever
since antiquity. Historically, many of these early figurines were religious in nature; but, over the
centuries, these garden protectors were embraced by the whimsical world of folklore.
Modern garden gnomes, as we think of them today, first became truly popular in the 1800s in
Germany. By some accounts, these German Gartenzwerge (garden dwarfs) were commercially
produced as early as 1841, and they were viewed as happy, helpful creatures. Appearing in their ever
stylish hats, these German figurines spread across Europe and eventually caught the eye of a well to
do Englishman, Sir Charles Edmund Isham, 10th Baronet. In 1847, Isham purchased twenty one
garden gnomes from Nuremberg and displayed them at his home, Lamport Hall, Northamptonshire.
Only one gnome (named Lampy) survives to this very day, but he was a part of the original crew who
has been credited with starting the garden gnome craze in the UK (and, later, the world). ... Show

thus, the pound symbol has appeared on telephones ever

Iron Dome Research Paper
The Iron Dome Weapon Defense System is used to detect and intercept incoming enemy rockets with
missiles. It is rather advanced weapon technology: It assesses a threat to determine the target area,
decides on whether the area is in danger, and shoots a missile to intercept that threat. The effectiveness
of the missiles ranges from 75 to 90 percent, according to many different sources. So you may be
asking yourself, What s so bad about this system? Well, the Iron Dome has some flaws. It has been
programmed to protect military bases and power plants as a priority. So let s imagine that Hamas
and/or Hezbollah decide to shoot thousands of rockets into Israel. The Iron Dome will have to

Glasgow Coma Scale And The Renin-Angiotensin System
Question 1:
An unaltered consciousness occurs when the Renin Angiotensin (RAS) system is working at 100%
(Blyth Bazarian, 2010). When changes such as head traumas, aging, concussions, strokes, etc. occur
the RAS system would be damaged overtime (Barritt Smithard, 2011). The more often these occur, the
more it is damaged. If RAS does not seem to be working adequately it would mean that it is not be
properly communicating with the cerebral cortex, this then causing the patient to become less alert
(Craig, 2003). His consciousness can only be tested by external stimuli to test for the functioning of
the RAS (through Auditory/Visual stimuli which in turn activate RAS). This is why the Glasgow
Coma Scale (GCS) is used as a measure a conscious state (Braine Cook, 2017). It tests and scores the
visual, verbal and motor response. The lower the GCS score the more of an altered conscious state the
patient is said to have. Typically the lower scores also have a worsened prognosis and/or poorer
outcome on the Glasgow Outcome Scale in an adult (Weir, et al., 2012). Mr Shepard had altered level
of consciousness at a GCS of 12. When a patient has no altered level of consciousness they are given a
score of 15 (Mena, et al., 2011). Anything less than that actions need to be implemented to prevent
further deterioration and try to bring the GCS back to 15 so there is no altered conscious state. Your
conscious state is affected by two main things; oxygen and glucose (Mergenthaler,

My Passion For Cooking Essay
I ve always had a passion for cooking. When I was a little girl I loved to cook and enjoyed learning
about all sort of cuisines. Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days it
isn t even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it s a classic, but something that I ve created. Cooking is
my time to be me. It s the art form I pride myself at being good at and I don t have to try (unlike
drawing...not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I discover new foods
and ingredients. My mind feels at home when it s in the process of creating in the kitchen. It s fun
getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping, stirring, adding a pinch of this
and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook. Finally the reward of my creativity is
taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work I ve done is fully realized when I can
share my work with others.
Cooking is pure joy and fun for me. I cook as a way to ground myself, to think clearly and to relax for
a change. I enjoy researching ingredients I ve never heard of before, what pairs best with this spice or
that vegetable. When someone strikes up a conversation with me about cooking, I could go on for
hours, so be prepared! Through cuts, burns, failed recipes, forgotten ingredients, I still find joy in the
art of cooking. Losing this passion would surely be like losing myself.
As a way to challenge myself, I started selling

Student Loan Vs. Private Loan
In order to get ahead in today s society people must take a risk. That risk may include taking out
student loans in order to acquire the necessary degree for their wanted job. For some taking out
student loans in the only way to achieve their goal of going to college. There are many different types
of student loans that a person could qualify for, for example, a federal loan or private loan. No matter
what type of loan is being offered before someone should accept any type of loan and the
responsibilities that come along with it they should consider the positives and negative repercussions
that could occur. Often times people hear many negative things about student loans but there are a few
positive things about them. A student loan allows someone to attend college and further their
education which gives them benefits that they will be able to use later in life. The main benefit and
reason individuals go to college is to reach the goal of a higher education, greater employment
opportunities and solid earnings and student loans make that possible (Venable 2). It could also be a
positive thing depending on the amount a person borrows and terms they agree to pay it back. Having
student loans that are possible to make regular payments on is an opportunity to increase a person s
credit score allowing better financial opportunities, for example, being able to acquire a car loan,
business loan, or mortgage (Venable 2). Debt that is manageable is good debt and as long as the

Romanticism In The Awakening
Romanticism can be characterized by its emphasis on emotion and individualism as well as
glorification of all the past and nature. There was a strong recourse to historical and natural
inevitability, a Zeitgeist, in the representation of its ideas. That there is this spirit that All people aim
for freedom and most fall short to reach their ultimate goal of total freedom. I will argue that Edna
Pontellier and Hegel are trying to find freedom during their era, but are unable to reach it. In The
Awakening, by Kate Chopin, we find our main character Edna who has this longing for freedom and
no matter what she tries she feels trapped in a society that she feels intrudes on her freedom. During
this time in age, Edna is expected to perform her domestic duties and care for the health and happiness
of her family. In this time of the Zeitgeist, victorian women were prevented from seeking the
satisfaction of their own wants and needs. During Edna s gradual awakening, she discovers her own
identity and acknowledges her emotions and desires actually are. The water symbolizes freedom,
escape, independence. Edna s awakening truly begins in the water, because this is where she learned
how to swim. This was something she has always previously been afraid of and after this incident, her
mind begins to turn with new possibilities of independence and the future. As she swam, she seemed
to be reaching out for the unlimited in which to lose herself (Chopin, p. 32). This event in her life

Memory In The Reader
Memory is a powerful concept. Often when an individual undergoes a traumatic situation, the
ramifications of these actions seep into an individualĀfs psyche unknowingly. In effect this passes
through memory and becomes sub consciously buried within a personĀfs behavioural patterns

Hanna was older than when I had met her and younger than when I had met her again, older than me,
more attractive than in earlier years, more relaxed in her movements with age, more at home in her

Training As A Skilled Baseball Player
Practice makes perfect, however, there are skills which require intensive training in order to be a
skilled baseball player. Practice makes perfect means the more you do something, the better you will

hitting a baseball, catching a fly ball, and running the bases. When I began to play little league
baseball at the age of nine, everything was tough. It took me three years to master these skills.
Perfection is almost impossible to accomplish, but perfection is impossible without practice. In my
first year, my hitting was terrible and I had only one hit in twenty games. During the off season,
however, I took a lot of time to practice on hitting on the baseball field, at the batting cage, and with a

Purpose of the Declaration of Independence
Rights of the People
A democracy is a system of government controlled by the people, not by one certain group or
individual. In the Declaration of Independence it states that all men are created equal, an idea which
leads to the concept that all citizens should have the same rights, responsibilities, and influence in the
governing of their country. In writing the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson was trying to
break his ties with the harsh and non democratic rule of the British and begin a new, equal society and
government for America.
Democracy is defined as A system of government in which ultimate political authority is vested in the

He believed that it was time for America to break away from Britain s rule and become its own nation,
which could govern itself. To do this, though, it was necessary to write some sort of document which
would state to the world the basic beliefs on which the nation s new government would be built. This
document was the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson felt that Britain was doing nothing but
hurting America with unfair rules and all sorts of ridiculous taxes. The colonies and colonists had no
rights in determining the very laws which dictated the way they led their lives. The Declaration of
Independence was a formal document stating that the people of America were breaking away from
Britain and that the American colonies were now Free and Independent States.
The Declaration of Independence was the cornerstone of American freedom and equality. By writing
this document, the American Colonies could now begin the process of starting a new way of life and a
new government. Obviously, at the time the Declaration of Independence was written the concept of
equality was more limited than it is today. Certainly, all members of colonial America did not share
equal status. However the concepts of the Declaration of Independence have evolved more fully over
the centuries

Natural Rights Vs Transcendentalism Essay
The American philosophy of the 18 century emerged as an outstanding phenomenon that has made an
immense contribution to the development of the American state. The two most prominent personalities
with respect to the development of philosophical ideas were Thomas Jefferson and Ralf Waldo
Emerson with their theories of natural rights and the view of Transcendentalism respectively. While
both of their philosophies have developed to become equally important as a basis of the American
country, its principles of life, and the idea of an American person, they reflect on rather different
aspects and promote quite different outlooks on the personality. The theory of transcendentalism
promotes an idea that a person is complete in himself or herself and needs to listen to his or her
intuition and to act in a harmonious way. The idea of natural rights, in contrast to the previous one,

The natural rights by Jefferson proclaim that the rights are given by God, and people are not
empowered to break them. At the same time, transcendentalism was developed as a search for
spirituality and the revealing of religion. They examined the role of religion in the life of people and
sought for the ways to reach actual spirituality that, according to transcendentalists, was hidden in the
person s thoughts and soul. At the same time, the transcendentalism and natural rights tend to be rather
different. For example, while transcendentalism promotes intuition and personal thoughts as the basis
for behavior, the theory of natural rights puts the essential rights of people in the center and claims
that all interactions should be based on it. Hence, the transcendentalists might be said to promote the
strong idea of individualism that might have negative implications for the society while the natural
rights theory provides a basis for the harmonious relationship among the people within the

Many people criticize them for having biased ratings against films that aren t produced by one of the
major film companies. Why? Because the people in the MPAA that vote on movie ratings are made up
of employees of the 6 biggest movie producers: Disney, Paramount, Sony, Fox, Universal, and Warner
Bros. (6) It is shown in a study by David Waguespack, an assistant professor at the University of
Maryland s Robert H. Smith School of Business, and Olav Sorenson, a professor at Yale s School of
Management, that movies made by these 6 companies are 7% less likely to receive an R rating. This
may not seem like a lot, but to an independent filmmaker such as myself, who needs to work so much
harder with a way smaller budget to produce something of quality and have bias against me, is
incredibly unfair. The difference between PG 13 and R is huge. Not only do you have to be 17 to see
an R rated film, cutting out 22% of moviegoers in 2014 completely, but that R rating also carries a bad
connotation with it, deterring others who might have seen it if it weren t rated so harshly.

What is the name of your organization? What year was the agency founded?
I would like to focus on one non profit organization that has been doing very well in the recent years.
The name of the organization is St Jude Research Hospital, which deals with the cure and treatment of
children suffering from catastrophic diseases. In the five decades, it has been operational, the mortality
rate has gradually reduced therefore saving lots of lives. St Jude started its operations in 1962. Danny
Thomas was the one who started the organization and was helped by two other close friends (Pui, Pei,
Pappo, Howard, Cheng, Sandlund and Gajjar, 2012).
What was the total revenue for the current year?
The total revenue of any firm is calculated by adding the total sales of good and services in a given

Essay about Transformation of Japan
Transformation of Japan
During the time period between the 1850s and 1950s, Japan underwent massive changes politically,
economically, and socially. Acknowledging the failure of isolation, Japan imitated the West in an
attempt to modernize, however, still retaining its own identity. A reorganized and more centralized
government allowed Japan to industrialize in half the time it took the nations of Western Europe.
Industrialization provided Japan with the tools needed to transform itself from a half civilized and
backwards society during isolation, to a dominating superpower during WWII.
In 1853 during the Tokugawa shogunate, Matthew Perry, an American commodore, arrived with an
army at Edo Bay to coerce the Japanese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Japan entered the race for colonies. Japan became imperialist after 1890 due to the need to pay the
new army, search for raw materials and new resources, and avoid Western intrusion of Japan s
possessions. Japan quickly defeated China in the Sino Japanese War in 1895 gaining territory in
northern China. In 1902, Japan allied itself with Britain, demonstrating the arrival of Japan as an equal
to the Western powers. In 1904, Japan won the Russo Japanese war on account of its superior navy. In
1910, Japan annexed Korea. Economically, Korea was economically exploited.
The Great depression called for radical measures, which included military aggression. Japanese
military played a major role in setting diplomatic policy. The military was separate from the
bureaucracy and adhered to the emperor. The military saw Japan s liberalism as a threat to traditional
Japanese values and customs and the military s position in the government. In 1931, the military
captured Manchuria without government approval. In 1932, several military officials assassinated the
prime minister. As a result, a mildly military government was created as militaristic prime ministers
presided. The militaristic prime ministers called for expansion in Asia to create an empire. The
demand for wider conquests by the military drove Japan to enter WWII.
After WWII, Japan was devastated by war, but the aid of the U.S. allowed them to recover quickly.

Airtex Aviation Case Study AirTex Aviation 1. Did AirTex need a new control system at the time of
the takeover?
* The management system that was in place was one woman who magically kept everything in her
head. There was limited and almost incomprehensible formal system. Sarah Arthur, the company s
accountant, had complete autonomy over the company s information, and she kept this information
private. * AirTex was in need of a more formalized accounting system, since accounting was a central
department of the company, and profitability was a key measure to ensure the success of the company
at the time of the takeover. * Also, Ted and Frank had plans to dispose of Sarah Arthur, who was

The Self Ratings
Pre to Post Self Ratings
On self pre evaluation was a little harsh on myself. I wasn t sure what the leadership role would be
like and I didn t wasn t to set myself up for failure by rating myself at a 5. There were some
dimensions, like Providing Feedback, that I knew I would not be able to get a 5 in. This is because I
knew it would be hard to provide feedback on projects with such a quick turnaround as well as I wasn
t ready to punish group members. One dimension I really tried on was relationship building because I
knew how detrimental this dimension would be if we didn t bond as a group. I really made an effort to
talk to my group member s outside of class time. I think the reason I saw a need to change this was
because I have seen how doing group projects with people you aren t close is not fun, which in the end
hurts the groups motivation to work. Since we would be spending all semester together, I wanted to
make sure we were all comfortable. I have held a few leadership positions while a part of
organizations here on campus. My positions allowed me to truly know where my strengths lie and
what I would need to improve on. Overall, I tried to consistently stick with the strategies I chose and
only adapted when I saw the need to.

Tang Statue Essay
With no name and created by an unknown artist, this stone statue was created in the 7th 8th century
(during the Chinese Tang dynasty) and is a point of intrigue. Although not much is known about the
sculpture, it feels as if the statue looks through the sense of self and has a divine sense. Like all
ancient statues, much of the colour has faded away. Colour itself is an important aspect in the
representation of the figure, due to the symbology associated with each colour. Even though the statue
has been given a physical shape, it does not exist in the sense that it is made up of many different
animal parts. When gazed upon, this sculpture leaves an impression of the divine. Compared to other
statues, ie. the lamassu or buddhas, they either stand by themselves or sit upon a smooth stone slab.
This statue s stand however, is quite peculiar. Upon first glance, the stand might not have much
significant importance compared to the statue itself, but it attracts attention due to its irregular shape.
Its shape is essentially an outline of the statues shadow in prism form, with varying degrees of width.
There are three different levels of width; the top is the widest, the middle is the thinest and the bottom
is in between. Instead of having a simple stand with consitent width, the artist chose to make
something much more complex and difficult to sculpt. Around the plinth are a set of four holes; two
under the hind legs of the statue, one in the front end and one under the right

Defeat Your Opponent Analysis
How to defeat your opponent
There are many ways to defeat an opponent in many different categories such as sports, business, or
anything that is competitive. For example, sports is one of the most competitive categories you will
ever find perhaps if not the most competitive. There are many people who are willing to pay millions
of dollars to experts who can teach them how to defeat their opponents in such a way where they can
find their weakness point. Every human being has a strength point and a weakness point, learning how
to defeat the opponent by attacking their weakness point would be considered genius. There are many
different methods to defeat your opponent as I have stated earlier and I will try my best to mention a
couple and also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if I am winning a game of basketball by 18 points and I realize that I am much ahead of
my opponent in terms of score, so I take my level down a bit. This is the worst thing you can do and it
relates to underestimating your opponent, if you take your level down then that is implying that your
opponent cannot catch up with your score. Many people have done this in countless games and lost in
the end of game because the other opponent scored many baskets against you when you let your guard
down. I remember in 2013 I was playing a rugby game in my school against another international
team from another city from China. We started the game with full seriousness and played the first 45
minutes with only the starters and after 45 minutes we were winning by 10 point. The coach and the
team thought that if we were winning by that much then we don?t need to let the starters play the
second half. However as soon as we subbed in our bench players and assumed it was going to be an
easy win we lost 4 points to the other team from stupid mistakes the we don?t even do in practice, and
eventually we lost. Thirdly I would like to warn any competitive player to always be alert whilst
playing against anyone at all times. Many people think that being alert has to do with underestimation
of the other player, however it has to do with when sometimes you get bored in the game and you
don?t focus so you start

Lais Of Marie De France Literary Analysis
Variations of Romance Elements in The Lais of Marie de France The Lais of Marie de France serves
as a collection of stories that independently convey different romantic tales, each having their own
unique presence that come together to create a successful romantic work of literature. The collection s
tales encompass many aspects that can be found throughout the romance genre as a whole and
represent some of what make romance a diverse and utterly distinctive genre. In her different accounts
of love stories, de France showcases tales that have a range of different themes and common elements
of typical romantic literature, many of which stand as some of the most important and necessary parts
of a successful romance. De France shows multiple sides of the same elements throughout her tales
and in doing so, reveals a variety of commonalities in aspects of romantic works of literature. Through
her different tales, de France utilizes variations of elements such as recognition, infidelity, the

This element serves as a conflict device for many lovers who are pure of heart but separated by one s
prior vows to someone who doesn t have the capacity for true love and in romance, this device allows
protagonists to overcome obstacles in the form of a spouse. Love serves as the spark that causes the
desire to be free of one s own uncaring or loathsome spouse to become something tangible and action
worthy for characters. In certain instances however, infidelity is also a device which allows for impure
or devious characters to receive their just punishment sufficiently. Infidelity in situations where there
is a satisfactory marriage where there is true care for a spouse, adultery becomes something that can
instead be punished in the name of nobility and

Ancient Egyptian Art And Contribution To Late Mesolithic Art
There are many different art styles around the world that developed in various ways. Ancient Egyptian
art is around 5 thousand years old, and it is a major contributor to late Mesolithic Art. It arose and took
shape in the civilization of the Nile Valley. Ancient Egyptian art reached a high level in painting and
sculpture, and was both extremely stylized and symbolic. Most of the Egyptian sculptures that have
been well preserved were initially made for temples and/or tombs. Egyptian sculpture and all Egyptian
art was based on the belief in a life after death. The body of the pharaoh was carefully preserved, and
certain goods were buried with him in the Pyramids of Giza to provide for his needs forever. Life size
and even much larger statues, carved in slate, alabaster, and limestone, were as regular and simple in
shape as the tombs themselves. These statues were replicas of the rulers, the nobles, and the gods
worshiped by the Egyptians, and were put in temples and burial chambers. Scenes engraved and
painted in the tombs or on temple walls literally described Egyptian life. Eleanor Barton, in The
History of Sculpture, states, The Egyptians often combined features from various creatures to
symbolize ideas. For example, the human head of the pharaoh Khafre is added to the crouching figure
of a lion to form the Great Sphinx. This composition suggests the combination of human intelligence
and animal strength. Egyptian sculptors always presented clear ideas. The pharaoh or

What Is The Role Of American Women In The Early 20th Century
Before the 20th century, the constrictions of the private sphere limited the roles of American women to
those that related to domesticity. These roles included child bearing, rearing, cleaning, cooking, and
tending to their husbands. This meant that women tended to set aside their hopes and dreams for a
future that would extend beyond their lives of domesticity in order to focus solely on their home life.
However, at the beginning of the 20th century women took it upon themselves to move away from the
private sphere as they began to challenge their traditional roles. Consequently, women became
increasingly involved in the public sphere fighting for various significant causes and aiding to their
movement as strikers, suffragists, and protesters. The photographs portray distinct groups of early 20th
century American women in their struggle to transition from the private sphere into the public sphere
with each group of women participating and contributing to this movement in different ways.
At the beginning of the 20th century, different groups of American women from diverse
socioeconomic backgrounds entered the public sphere and did so by protesting against various
injustices. Each group of women decided to take to the streets as a result of these injustices and in
order to accomplish their objectives. To begin with, working class women, mostly young immigrant
women, decided to take to the streets to strike primarily in regards to the low salaries as well as the
deplorable

  • 2. Ancient Greek Architecture And Its Influence On Architecture Architecture is art in the form of building structures, and can have both practical and symbolic purposes. It is, however, much more than just building or just art. The architecture of a civilization speaks of its people and their story, emphasizes their values, and announces their greatness. A structure whose architect was inspired by other cultures not only tells of its own civilization, history, and character, but that of the other influencing peoples as well. The story of peoples is told by their monuments through the ages, captivating and inspiring those who come later, in future generations and future civilizations. In the long history of human culture and art, perhaps no greater influence on architecture has taken place than that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Master Cleanse Research Paper TThe Master Cleanse: Is it the Real Deal? Ever heard of losing ten pounds in ten days? The Master Cleanse claims this to be true. The Master Cleanse, also called the Lemonade Diet, is a liquid only diet consisting of three things: a lemonade like beverage, salt water drink, and herbal laxative tea. The diet consists of consuming nothing but this lemonade drink for ten days (or more) and you re supposed to shed weight and detox your digestive system. All in all, the Master Cleanse is claimed and intended to make people healthier, feel more energetic, and happier. Beyonce did the Master Cleanse to quickly drop weight to play in Dreamgirls, but the real question is, is this detoxing diet even healthy for you in the long run, or is it you just ... In the words of Maura Shenker, You may also suffer digestive issues because of the constant flushing of your system, which can damage healthy probiotic bacteria that aid digestion and help keep your immune system strong (3). This quote justifies the master cleanse could have danger to your digestive system and normal bodily functions. According to Tina Rubin who wrote Mastering the Master Cleanse , Detox symptoms include irritability, aches and pains (including caffeine headaches), lethargy, and eliminations that burn. Many of the symptoms disappear the next day. After day three, most people experience no more detox symptoms until day seven or eight, and then it s smooth sailing. Other than on symptom days, people report having unusual energy, strength, and clarity that continues throughout the cleanse (3). There seems to be a lot of symptoms that go along with this detoxing diet but seems to possibly be worth it in the long run. It may only do that for some people and not others though. The diet could potentially come with several symptoms aches and pains. But, for Adam Young, he had trouble sleeping at night, and yet, still have a very colorful vivid dreams. In Fireflies , by Owl City, Adam Young is trying to show his vivid dreams when he was young by using many figurative languages such as simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification, and repetition. In the famous single, Fireflies , there were many uses of similes and metaphors to show his vivid dreams when he was young. In stanza 6, Adam Young sang Cause I feel like such an insomniac . This is an example of simile, Adam Young is comparing himself to a person who is regularly unable to sleep. In the last stanza, Adam Young sang Because my dreams are bursting at the seams . This shows an example of metaphor, because he is comparing two thoughts without using like or as. In stanza 7, Adam Young sang I got misty eyes as they said farewell . This is another example of metaphor, Adam Young is trying to convey the idea that he is going to cry as the fireflies said a farewell. By using many similes and metaphors, we can ... This is an example of a paradox, because the word far too tired seeming contradiction may reveal an unexpected truth. In another stanza, Adam Young sang awake when I m asleep . This is an example of an oxymoron, because oxymoron is a combination of two words that appear to contradict each other, and by staying awake when asleep is a contradictory between the two terms. The use of oxymoron and paradox is shown throughout the lyric. The purpose is to show that he is awake when asleep at the same time, this will give a clearer idea of him having a vivid dream when trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Dorm Analysis Oh, the rights of fall! Summer is retreating, migratory birds start to flock, the first crops are harvested, and (add dramatic music here) it s time for kids to go to the many colleges and universities around the country. Dorms will soon be filled, and decorating themes of all types will sprout from the various rooms. Lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and gymnasiums are important structures to any facility of higher learning, but one type of building stands alone as the bastion of student interest: The Dorm. The dorm. That word strikes fear into the hearts of mothers concerned about their baby boy s new home away from home . But the topic today is decorating a guy s dorm room, not Mom s trepidation about her offspring s laundry skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you are living 9 months of the year in an ode to the mighty cinder block then Halloween can be the perfect holiday to bust out of a rut and get over the halfway point of the semester. If you room alone, then you are all set and free to decorate for Halloween at will. If you have a roomie, it would be best to ask if they have any opinions about decorations before you get started. The ideas in this article are broken into a couple of themes. The Macabre Halloween Theme To some people Halloween is all skeletons, Frankenstein, and white sheets. To others it is an all out gore fest best left alone by the faint of heart. The Macabre Set should get creative with their decorations and give ordinary items a touch of the bizarre. The best place to start is a good thrift store in the print department. Flip through their pictures and pull out some old posters or prints and take them back to your dorm room with some creamy red paint. If you managed to land some prints of bikini clad girls on a beach so much the better! The girls are always the first to go in a good horror movie, and they will look great in various shades of terror on the wall. Take your red paint and apply it in a strategic way so as to suggest trauma. A daub at the temples or a puddle at the feet will be a great opener. Let the paint dry completely, then take your print and crumble it up slightly before pressing it back out smooth. This helps disguise the texture of the paint and add a distorted look to the picture. Do this to several different prints if at all possible, and mix up your selections. Even a peaceful seen of little lambs can be given a scary twist for Halloween. The best thing to do to really add a touch of the dark side to your artwork is to plug in a soft nightlight beneath the pictures to cast a glow on them after dark without having to illuminate your whole room. Pull the covers tight! The Future Homemaker Halloween Theme This theme is built ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Observing Natural Selection Observing Natural Selection With Different Colored Construction Bugs in a Flowered Meadow Ashish Cavale Natural sources of variation include: mutations, gene flow, and genetic shuffling. Mutations are random changes in DNA that result in beneficial, harmful, or no changes in an organism. Gene flow can also be referred to as migration. It is the exchange of genes of individuals from one population to another. Genetic shuffling occurs in meiosis when alleles switch to create new combinations of genes. The steps of natural selection are overproduction, variation, competition, and selection. Overproduction is important because it keeps the species from becoming extinct and allows for more variation in offspring. Variation is what can either help the organism have a higher chance of surviving or could lower the chance of surviving. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. The Summer Night In The Summer And The Last Summer I remember it as if it was yesterday, maybe because it was yesterday. No, I m merely kidding. It was this summer. Not this coming summer, the last summer. And not the summer of the year 2016, the one from this year, 2017. What happened that summer night? Numerous things. It was any other typical summer day for me in the ole Fritz household. I was getting bored doing things with Hallie, the dog, or by myself. I thought of a brilliant idea, I ll invite Kennedy over, it s been forever since I ve seen her. (It hadn t been an extremely long time since I last saw her, we simply enjoy hanging out.) Accordingly, I called her up and asked, Hey, are you busy today? Because if not, you should come over to my house and spend the night or something. She said, No, I m not busy. I need to ask if I can come, I m sure she ll say yes. I probably need to clean my room first though. Hence, it might be a while. I told her that was fine and to swing by whenever she was done cleaning, and that was the end of it. I only had to wait an hour, maybe two, before she arrived at my house. We were incredibly excited to see each other because, actually, I have no idea why. I mean yes we re excellent friends, still we saw each other a lot, and we talk, and text all the time. Historians conduct research and analysis for businesses, newspapers, governments, and historical associations. • 11. Garden Gnome Research Paper SUMMERTIME HAS ARRIVED, AND ON the cooler days, we can work in our gardens and spruce up our lawn decorations. For some of us, that means we can fuss over our garden gnomes and other colorful knick knacks and statues. Mankind has been adorning their gardens with small statuary ever since antiquity. Historically, many of these early figurines were religious in nature; but, over the centuries, these garden protectors were embraced by the whimsical world of folklore. Modern garden gnomes, as we think of them today, first became truly popular in the 1800s in Germany. By some accounts, these German Gartenzwerge (garden dwarfs) were commercially produced as early as 1841, and they were viewed as happy, helpful creatures. Appearing in their ever stylish hats, these German figurines spread across Europe and eventually caught the eye of a well to do Englishman, Sir Charles Edmund Isham, 10th Baronet. In 1847, Isham purchased twenty one garden gnomes from Nuremberg and displayed them at his home, Lamport Hall, Northamptonshire. Only one gnome (named Lampy) survives to this very day, but he was a part of the original crew who has been credited with starting the garden gnome craze in the UK (and, later, the world). ... It is rather advanced weapon technology: It assesses a threat to determine the target area, decides on whether the area is in danger, and shoots a missile to intercept that threat. The effectiveness of the missiles ranges from 75 to 90 percent, according to many different sources. So you may be asking yourself, What s so bad about this system? Well, the Iron Dome has some flaws. It has been programmed to protect military bases and power plants as a priority. • 13. Glasgow Coma Scale And The Renin-Angiotensin System Question 1: An unaltered consciousness occurs when the Renin Angiotensin (RAS) system is working at 100% (Blyth Bazarian, 2010). When changes such as head traumas, aging, concussions, strokes, etc. occur the RAS system would be damaged overtime (Barritt Smithard, 2011). The more often these occur, the more it is damaged. If RAS does not seem to be working adequately it would mean that it is not be properly communicating with the cerebral cortex, this then causing the patient to become less alert (Craig, 2003). His consciousness can only be tested by external stimuli to test for the functioning of the RAS (through Auditory/Visual stimuli which in turn activate RAS). This is why the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is used as a measure a conscious state (Braine Cook, 2017). It tests and scores the visual, verbal and motor response. The lower the GCS score the more of an altered conscious state the patient is said to have. Typically the lower scores also have a worsened prognosis and/or poorer outcome on the Glasgow Outcome Scale in an adult (Weir, et al., 2012). Mr Shepard had altered level of consciousness at a GCS of 12. When a patient has no altered level of consciousness they are given a score of 15 (Mena, et al., 2011). Anything less than that actions need to be implemented to prevent further deterioration and try to bring the GCS back to 15 so there is no altered conscious state. Your conscious state is affected by two main things; oxygen and glucose (Mergenthaler, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days it isn t even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it s a classic, but something that I ve created. Cooking is my time to be me. It s the art form I pride myself at being good at and I don t have to try (unlike drawing...not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I discover new foods and ingredients. My mind feels at home when it s in the process of creating in the kitchen. It s fun getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping, stirring, adding a pinch of this and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook. Finally the reward of my creativity is taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work I ve done is fully realized when I can share my work with others. Cooking is pure joy and fun for me. I cook as a way to ground myself, to think clearly and to relax for a change. I enjoy researching ingredients I ve never heard of before, what pairs best with this spice or that vegetable. When someone strikes up a conversation with me about cooking, I could go on for hours, so be prepared! Through cuts, burns, failed recipes, forgotten ingredients, I still find joy in the art of cooking. Losing this passion would surely be like losing myself. • 15. Student Loan Vs. Private Loan In order to get ahead in today s society people must take a risk. That risk may include taking out student loans in order to acquire the necessary degree for their wanted job. For some taking out student loans in the only way to achieve their goal of going to college. There are many different types of student loans that a person could qualify for, for example, a federal loan or private loan. No matter what type of loan is being offered before someone should accept any type of loan and the responsibilities that come along with it they should consider the positives and negative repercussions that could occur. Often times people hear many negative things about student loans but there are a few positive things about them. A student loan allows someone to attend college and further their education which gives them benefits that they will be able to use later in life. The main benefit and reason individuals go to college is to reach the goal of a higher education, greater employment opportunities and solid earnings and student loans make that possible (Venable 2). It could also be a positive thing depending on the amount a person borrows and terms they agree to pay it back. Having student loans that are possible to make regular payments on is an opportunity to increase a person s credit score allowing better financial opportunities, for example, being able to acquire a car loan, business loan, or mortgage (Venable 2). There was a strong recourse to historical and natural inevitability, a Zeitgeist, in the representation of its ideas. That there is this spirit that All people aim for freedom and most fall short to reach their ultimate goal of total freedom. I will argue that Edna Pontellier and Hegel are trying to find freedom during their era, but are unable to reach it. In The Awakening, by Kate Chopin, we find our main character Edna who has this longing for freedom and no matter what she tries she feels trapped in a society that she feels intrudes on her freedom. During this time in age, Edna is expected to perform her domestic duties and care for the health and happiness of her family. In this time of the Zeitgeist, victorian women were prevented from seeking the satisfaction of their own wants and needs. During Edna s gradual awakening, she discovers her own identity and acknowledges her emotions and desires actually are. The water symbolizes freedom, escape, independence. Edna s awakening truly begins in the water, because this is where she learned how to swim. This was something she has always previously been afraid of and after this incident, her mind begins to turn with new possibilities of independence and the future. As she swam, she seemed to be reaching out for the unlimited in which to lose herself (Chopin, p. 32). This event in her life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Practice makes perfect means the more you do something, the better you will become at it. There are three essential techniques of training to develop my skills as a baseball player: hitting a baseball, catching a fly ball, and running the bases. When I began to play little league baseball at the age of nine, everything was tough. It took me three years to master these skills. Perfection is almost impossible to accomplish, but perfection is impossible without practice. In my first year, my hitting was terrible and I had only one hit in twenty games. • 21. Natural Rights Vs Transcendentalism Essay The American philosophy of the 18 century emerged as an outstanding phenomenon that has made an immense contribution to the development of the American state. The two most prominent personalities with respect to the development of philosophical ideas were Thomas Jefferson and Ralf Waldo Emerson with their theories of natural rights and the view of Transcendentalism respectively. While both of their philosophies have developed to become equally important as a basis of the American country, its principles of life, and the idea of an American person, they reflect on rather different aspects and promote quite different outlooks on the personality. Although not much is known about the sculpture, it feels as if the statue looks through the sense of self and has a divine sense. Like all ancient statues, much of the colour has faded away. Colour itself is an important aspect in the representation of the figure, due to the symbology associated with each colour. Even though the statue has been given a physical shape, it does not exist in the sense that it is made up of many different animal parts. When gazed upon, this sculpture leaves an impression of the divine. Compared to other statues, ie. the lamassu or buddhas, they either stand by themselves or sit upon a smooth stone slab. This statue s stand however, is quite peculiar. Upon first glance, the stand might not have much significant importance compared to the statue itself, but it attracts attention due to its irregular shape. Its shape is essentially an outline of the statues shadow in prism form, with varying degrees of width. There are three different levels of width; the top is the widest, the middle is the thinest and the bottom is in between. Instead of having a simple stand with consitent width, the artist chose to make something much more complex and difficult to sculpt. Ancient Egyptian art is around 5 thousand years old, and it is a major contributor to late Mesolithic Art. It arose and took shape in the civilization of the Nile Valley. Ancient Egyptian art reached a high level in painting and sculpture, and was both extremely stylized and symbolic. Most of the Egyptian sculptures that have been well preserved were initially made for temples and/or tombs. Egyptian sculpture and all Egyptian art was based on the belief in a life after death. The body of the pharaoh was carefully preserved, and certain goods were buried with him in the Pyramids of Giza to provide for his needs forever. Life size and even much larger statues, carved in slate, alabaster, and limestone, were as regular and simple in shape as the tombs themselves. These statues were replicas of the rulers, the nobles, and the gods worshiped by the Egyptians, and were put in temples and burial chambers. Scenes engraved and painted in the tombs or on temple walls literally described Egyptian life. Eleanor Barton, in The History of Sculpture, states, The Egyptians often combined features from various creatures to symbolize ideas.
