Cytokinesis finally divides the cytoplasm and organelles, yielding two daughter cells each with the full complement of genetic material. Cell division allows organisms to grow and repair damaged tissues, and is the means by which single-celled organisms reproduce. Strict control of the cell division process is important to prevent uncontrolled growth that can lead to cancer.
