4. ●A ●B
●A’s clothing is much more bleak and darker to offer up a
visual representation of his depression and thus make it
easier for the audience to make the link between the
character to the mental illness.
●His clothing will also be a lot more closed off, with the zips
up and long sleeves as a way to show how he feels
disjointed with the world and feels like he can’s show himself
to the world with out being judged.
●In comparison, B’s clothing is a lot more open and free,
representing how he has nothing to hide from anyone and is
proud of himself for being in the state he’s in.
●The use of glasses as a part of his clothing represents how
he views life from two different perspectives as the music
video progresses they will become less common in the
shots to show how his view is changing.
Lighting and Colour
• For A, the lighting will mostly be lowkey with very few bright spots allowed, just to heighten the sense of bleakness the
character feels. This combined with the use of a darker hue and more desaturated palette will further add to the sense of
hopelessness the character feels.
• For B, the lighting will primarily be high key and the colour palette saturated and brighten a bit as a way to further emphasise
the difference between the two, as B’s colour and lighting will make A’s even darker by comparison.

The use of a suburban setting and high school is a way to appeal to the target audience of teenagers who will be able to relate to
the setting as it is something that is common in their everyday life. This is also to make the video relatable to the audience as it
further cerments this as an issue that young people suffer with.
