2. The album cover I designed for Melissa Hill serves
it’s purpose in the way it establishes the artist as a
brand successfully to the audience.
The focal image in the centre of the cover illustrates
the artist as a natural beauty which feeds in to the
idea of simplicity which is a direct link to the rural
theme explored throughout the music video.
As well as emphasising the rural atmosphere
explored in the music video, the gentle use of
pastel colours and calligraphy typography used on
the album front cover suggest clarity and
simplification which is a key idea to the branding of
‘Melissa Hill’ and also allows all focus to be on the
central image. This idea is further accentuated
through the design of the magazine advertisement.

3. The inside cover images and the
back cover image are stills taken
from the music video footage.
Particularly in the inside cover, the
rural setting is established through
the sight of trees and land, the two
main characters from the music
video are also seen here. This
association with rural setting allows
the audience to identify the artist
Melissa Hill with simplicity and
natural beauty; an on going theme
throughout both the main product
and ancillary texts.

4. The advertisement also follows the simple, rural theme
established throughout the different tasks. The use of the
sunset image behind the central image of the artist sets a
calm, tranquil atmosphere. The central image, is the same still
taken from the music video footage which is used on the
album cover; this helps the audience to identify the artist.
The advertisement serves it's purpose in the sense that it
creates awareness due to the special effects on the focal point
of the advert, and provides the necessary information for the
audience to take action to further their interest in the
branding of the artist, for example providing accessibility
through the website and Amazon. The Guardian newspaper is
a respectable institution of which I imagine the target
audience to appreciate their opinion, which is why I gave the
album a five-star rating on their behalf.
