An MIS provides managers with information to support effective decision making and feedback on daily operations. It is made up of subsystems that are organized by function within an organization. There are several types of reports an MIS can generate, including scheduled reports produced periodically, key indicator reports that summarize critical daily activities, demand reports for specific information requests, and exception reports that are automatically produced when an unusual situation arises requiring management action.
