- 3. Ghalib was the last great poet of the mughal’s period. He wrote many ghazals. He is considered to be one of the most popular and influential poet of Urdu language. It is said that Ghalib had a weakness for drinking and gambling. These two vices were something that he was truly fond of in his lifetime. It is also said that Ghalib had seven children, but sadly none of them survived. This pain has found its way into his poetry. 12/18/2013 3
