Miele & Cie, a German manufacturer of household appliances, transitioned from a VMware-based virtualization solution to Microsoft's Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2 to reduce costs and improve data center management, ultimately saving €1.5 million. The company experienced a 50% reduction in hardware costs and improved productivity among IT staff with Microsoft’s integrated management tools. Miele plans to further expand its virtualization efforts, aiming to virtualize 80% of its infrastructure and fully move away from VMware by mid-2011.
