1. Raul Guapo’s Midterm Reflection
In Spanish Class this semester, I have been hard at work learning new ways to
build on what I have previously learned in order to enhance my knowledge on the
Spanish language. We have worked on many new phrases and words to deal with
numerous types of information; some examples would be terms dealing with certain
daily activities, vacations, the news, and art. I feel like I can really understand these
topics due to what I have learned so far in Spanish III. Also, we have reviewed on
certain terms that were already taught to us in previous Spanish courses, but it has
more of a purpose than to refresh our memories at the start of the semester. Like I said,
this class builds on what is already established, so instead of just recapping certain
words, this class takes old words and applies them to what something new, so there is
hardly any time when something new is not being taught. Personally, I enjoyed the “art”
unit the most because it was very interesting to learn about all the different aspects of
culture in Spanish-speaking countries. Also, near the end of the unit, the class was
assigned an art project to do, which is pretty interesting for a Spanish class. Although I
am very artistically challenged, I still had a lot of fun doing this project, just because of
how different it was from the standard Spanish projects that I was used to doing.
Probably my least favorite part of the class, though, is learning more tenses. Although
Spanish III comes right after Spanish II, which is notorious for introducing the past tense
2. probably the parts of Spanish III where I’ve had the most trouble, but once those are
learned, it just becomes learning the new vocabulary that is given. One thing that I
definitely need to improve upon is my studying habit; I will admit that I am bad at
studying because before high school, I never had any need to study. Specifically, I have
problems prioritizing what I do after school, which is something else that I can improve
upon. I feel like a need to set a time that I could study and do work every day, and do
nothing else that could possibly distract me from working. Overall, this semester has
been fun, but I can only see the class getting harder from this point, so I feel like if I just
buckle down and try my hardest, I can be successful in this class.
