1. Midterm Reflections
Jessica Thompson
In spanish class this semester we learned about school routine, health/fitness
and house and chores. I can talk about all these things and I know the vocabulary well.
My favorite of these units was the house and chores unit because it was easy for me to
learn. I enjoy subjects better when I am good at them and I’m good at them when I
study. I feel I didn’t like the other subjects as well because I didn’t know them that well.
This semester, I made pretty good grades in spanish class and knew the material
well. However, this semester I need to work on time management and improving my
study skills. At the beginning of first quarter, I studied daily and made sure I knew what
we were doing but as the quarter went on, I started to go downward. This quarter, I want
to keep up with my vocabulary and not cram at the last minute. Some activities in class
helped to make remembering my vocabulary easier. One of my favorites was how we
learned the body parts by physically going over them in class. Because it was funny, it
was memorable and that has helped me throughout the entire quarter.
I also struggled with a couple of things this quarter and one of them was informal
tú commands. They never really made sense to me and I’m still working with
understanding them. Grammar in the language is more difficult for me to understand
because it is so different from English. For the remainder of the semester, I want to be
expand my comprehension of the language and my vocabulary. This quarter I will study
