Non-Domestic Scheme Outline
• The Minister announced on the new Micro-generation Support Scheme (MSS) 21
December 2021.
• A grant of €2400 (provided as €900/kW to 2kW, and €300/kW from 2-4kW) for all
non-domestic applicants
• Max system size. Announced as 5.9kw.
Confirmed Max. Size under scheme set at 6kWp DC.
• No BER threshold, and available to all pre-2021 buildings.
• SEAI targeting launching the scheme summer 2022 subject to Ministerial approval
• Separate to Domestic Scheme
• Application process and grant offer and payment process very similar to domestic.
• Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) tariff, for any exported electricity, at a competitive
market rate from their electricity supplier

• Information requirements on application as a business or public body
• Review of applicants’ eligibility under Deminimis in terms of grant funding
• Cross checks on PV grant funding under other non-domestic schemes
• Large variety of building size and type
• Different Planning Regulations

Further Aspects
Asbestos
• As standard in industry if asbestos or suspected asbestos identified the national
Health and Safety guidelines in relation to same should be followed.
Fire &Lightning Protection :
• Client shall be informed to contact their insurance company as required to inform
them of the new installation.
Planning
• Reference to Planning and Building Regulations 2008 with clients advised to contact
their local authority as required for advice on compliance.
• Changes to planning exemptions subject to confirmation by Department of Housing,
Local Government and Heritage

Registration:
SEAI wish to provide the link between installers and customers in a simple manner as per the Domestic
Scheme. Current registers apply to domestic scheme only.
Option 1:
• Current Domestic Company and Installer Register offered to Non-Domestic Applicants
- Revised Terms and Conditions for this Non – Domestic Installations Issued to all those on register.
- Extra columns included in register to note status of installers and companies working on either or
both schemes.
- Only those who have completed the registration process can perform works under this scheme.
Option 2:
• Full new register with each company and installer applying separately to be listed.

MPRN as Identifier
Consideration:
Non-Domestic Buildings have multiple metering arrangements.
These must be considered both in application and installation process.
Buildings with single MPRN across multiple tenants.
Application
• A Landlord or individual tenant (on Landlord approval) could potentially use common building
MPRN with applicant company identifier (Company Registration No. and or VAT No.).
• Only one application could be entered on any such building.
• Subsequent application would raise the building microgeneration level into the CEP with ESB
and thus fall out of SEAI grant range.
Installation
• Landlord - could connect system to allow export
• Tenant - Electrical Infrastructure will not allow for tenant export

Company with more than one MPRN due to multiple locations or multiple
buildings in a single location.
Application
• Application can be made for each separate MPRN with same company name and
potentially same address.
Installation
• Each installation must remain distinct and connected to associated meter .

Scheme is open to a number of areas including but not limited to :

• Societies and Organizations such as GAA.
This will expose installers to a large array of structures including but not limited to:
• Schools
• Halls
• Clubhouses
• Office Buildings
• Storage Sheds
• Slatted Sheds
