Obesity is defined as a condition in which too much body fat
is present on a person's body, thereby causing excessive
weight. The condition is more severe than being overweight
and is often measured using body mass index (BMI). BMI is
determined by dividing an individual's weight by the square of
their height in meters. A BMI of 25 to 30 is considered
overweight, while a BMI of 30 or above is considered obese.

3. Obesity
 Although BMI has shown a close correlation
with excessive body fat and related conditions
such as heart disease, it does have limitations.
For example, BMI does not measure
abdominal obesity. In this case, a waist
measurement can be used to determine the
amount of excess fat around a person's
midsection. BMI is also a general measure, so
for an exact body fat measurement of a
specific patient, other tools such as magnetic
resonance imaging or dual energy X-ray
absorptiometry machines can be used.
