become our regular clients
 We have a lot of professionals and experienced
programmers.
 What do they want us to do?
 to create a calculator that could calculate the BMI and
BMR of the targeted user
 To calculate Body Mass Index (BMI)
BMI - measure body shape based on individual’s
mass and height
 To calculate Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
 BMR - rate of energy expenditure by humans at rest,
and is measured in kJ per hour per kg body mass
Target Users
UNIMAS students
UNIMAS staffs
Their family
People in the range of age 18 years old to 50
years old
Problem Statement
Body Mass Index (BMI) & Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
 Could not account for weight that comes from muscle
instead of fat
 Measurement based on height is affected by age and
gender.
 May place individuals who have lost muscle into the
healthy weight category
 Not appropriate for pregnant women and very short
people
 Does not give an accurate result of the percentage
of the body fat
Does not provide any information regarding where
body fat is stored
 For BMR calculator, the factors that should be
considered are :-
i. Age
ii. Height
iii. Weight
iv. Daily life activities
 Suitable to be used for many categories of people
 Easily implemented in many fields
