The web has become a resourceful tool for almost all domains today. Search engines prominently use
inverted indexing technique to locate the web pages having the users query. The performance of inverted
index fundamentally depends upon the searching of keyword in the list maintained by search engine. Text
matching is done with the help of string matching algorithm. It is important to any string matching
algorithm to locate quickly the occurrences of the user specified pattern in large text. In this paper a new
string matching algorithm for keyword searching is proposed. The proposed algorithm relies on new
technique based on pattern length and FML (First-Middle-Last) character match. This proposed
algorithm is analysed and implemented. The extensive testing and comparisons are done with BoyerMoore, Naïve, Improved Naïve, Horspool and Zhu Takaoka. The result shows that the proposed
algorithm takes less time than other existing algorithm.
Query expansion
This document describes a query expansion approach that clusters documents during an offline phase and uses n-grams and cluster tags to augment queries during an online phase. RAPID INDUCTION OF MULTIPLE TAXONOMIES FOR ENHANCED FACETED TEXT BROWSING
In this paper we present and compare two methodologies for rapidly inducing multiple subject-specific
taxonomies from crawled data. The first method involves a sentence-level words co-occurrence frequency
method for building the taxonomy, while the second involves the bootstrapping of a Word2Vec based
algorithm with a directed crawler. We exploit the multilingual open-content directory of the World Wide
Web, DMOZ1
to seed the crawl, and the domain name to direct the crawl. This domain corpus is then input
to our algorithm that can automatically induce taxonomies. The induced taxonomies provide hierarchical
semantic dimensions for the purposes of faceted browsing. As part of an ongoing personal semantics
project, we applied the resulting taxonomies to personal social media data (Twitter, Gmail, Facebook,
Instagram, Flickr) with an objective of enhancing an individual’s exploration of their personal information
through faceted searching. We also perform a comprehensive corpus based evaluation of the algorithms
based on many datasets drawn from the fields of medicine (diseases) and leisure (hobbies) and show that
the induced taxonomies are of high quality.

How discovery impacts of users' experiences
In the 21st century the academic library supports both research activities and teaching outcomes of faculty members and students through web-scale discovery services. These discovery services embrace new technologies to provide deep discovery of vast scholarly collections from a one-stop access interface, relying on a central index of pre-harvested data. With unified indexing of full-text library content, users’ experience of search and retrieval is greatly improved.
Discovery is changing the way that library users find and access library materials, especially electronic resources. In the opening part of this presentation, I will share my experiences of using different discovery systems – Summon, Primo and Enterprise – in my current and previous roles, in term of differences, strengths and common areas among these tools. Relevant findings from the literature and latest research reports will be sketched. I will also speak of how technical services teams can support the next generation of discovery systems that will help the progress of the digital library field. The presentation will conclude with the approach of technical services towards future discovery.

Survey on Key Phrase Extraction using Machine Learning Approaches
The automated keyword extraction task is to define a collection of representative terms for the text. Extracting keywords defines a small collection of terms, key phrases and keywords that define the document’s context. Keyword search allows large document collections to be searched effectively. To allocate suitable key phrases to new documents, text categorization techniques can be applied. A predefined collection of key phrases from which all key phrases for new documents are selected is given in the training documents. The training data for each key phrase describes a collection of documents associated with it. Standard machine learning techniques are used for each key phrase to construct a classifier from the training materials, using those relevant to it as positive examples and the rest as negative examples. Provided a new text, it is processed by the classifier of each key phrase.
