Character Analysis Of Lulamae Barnes
First of all there is the novella s heroine Holly Golightly, using this promising pseudonym instead of
her humble actual name Lulamae Barnes. She is an orphan from Texas, who became the child wife of
an elderly but kind hearted veterinarian, Doc, who took her and her brother in, before she eloped and
was discovered by the agent O. J. Berman, by the narrative s time her loyal friend and protector, who
tried to turn her into a Hollywood actress, which first brought her to California and later to New York.
She comes across (...) even when she opens her mouth and you don t know if she s a hillbilly or an
Okie or what. My guess, nobody ll ever know where she came from. She s such a goddamn liar,
maybe she don t know herself any more. (...)To smooth out that accent (...) we gave her French
lessons: after she could imitate French, it wasn t so long she could imitate ... Show more content on

Yet, it is through the gaps in her stories, the things she refuses to speak about, that we gain a sense of
the self under the mask. The painful history of her childhood, only hinted at by Doc s arrival, makes
up one of the biggest explanations of her persona which we only become aware of in her relationship
with the narrator, who she mainly comes to trust because he reminds her of her brother Fred, a soldier
in the army, who seems to be the one person that she truly loves. Through her accounts of her past to
the narrator, who she also calls Fred a very important narrative tool, which we will come back to later
we learn that her actual wish is to gain enough money an independence, most probably trough
marriage and subsequent divorce , to buy a ranch in Mexico with her brother as soon as he returns.
The moment is symbolized with her taking of the sunglasses she wears to mask her eyes, marking one
of two moments where she truly opens

What Is The Theme Of The Bird And The Arras
The Bird and the Arras, is a poem written by Anne Finch, Countess of
Winchilsea (1661 1720), she has always been a recognised author, but the recognition of her works
have been revived in the last years. Her poetry reflects her thoughts and personal experiences, but also
the social and political situation of the era (18 th century,
England). As in the case of the poem The Bird and the Arras , the author describes the situation of the
women of the time by the using of the symbol of the bird. During the poem, the room where the bird is
trapped, which has a high ceiling, has an arras, and the bird tries to follow the birds that appear on the
arras. As a consequence of trying to follow the birds that appear ... Show more content on

Till some kind hand directs the certain way we can find a synecdoche, kind hand could be God s hand
which will take her (the bird) to heaven, with this detail we can fathom that women were trapped in
society, as heaven seems to be the only way to freedom they can find. The use of Heav n has a special
meaning that confirms what mentioned before; the poet has chosen the use of Heav n instead of sky to
reinforce the idea that it is the only way to freedom. The room where the bird is could be interpreted
as a marriage, where the woman is nullified or it can represent a real room.
Secondly, from the analysis made above, we can get to several interpretations of the poem. On a literal
way the poem is describing how a bird tries to escape from a room because it is lock in it, which is a
dramatic situation, as it is described in the poem.
The first interpretation, is that she will be free when she dies, as every time she tries to reach freedom
fails And leads to ample space, the only Heav n of Birds . The second is more pessimistic as it
concludes that she will never be free, as every

King Arthur Purple Symbolism In Medieval Literature
Heraldry is a type of visual language that was used as a means to distinguish between knights in
armor. This ancient language was unique to each knight or family due to the independent creation of
each blazon. King Arthur, son of King Uther Pendragon, is a transcendent mythological figure that
rules the over the kingdom of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table. However, despite Arthur s
significance in medieval literature the heraldic symbols present on his flag are debatable. Firstly,
Purple symbolizes royalty or sovereignty. Due to Arthur s sovereign status as king of Camelot one
may conclude that the color of his flag would be purple. Finally, the hawk signifies an individual s
inability to rest until a particular objective is achieved.

Post Colonial Mexico Essay
The history of Post colonial Mexico included many successful and influential leaders: Porfirio Diaz,
Francisco Madero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa, and Emiliano Zapata. Disparities in classification of the
revolution arise from the numerous factions and ideological assumptions advocated for the overthrow
of Diaz s rule, hence one can argue that it was a political, social, or economical revolution. A social
revolution advocates a complete transformation of all characteristic aspects of society, encompassing
the political structure, economically distribution, and social hierarchy. These men set forth some major
objectives to revive Mexico that led to the Mexico Revolution of 1910 1916 and the Constitution of
1917.

The Plan of San Luis Potosi simply was for the people of Mexico to raise their arms to overthrow the
dictatorship of Diaz and reinstitute democracy. The countryside and city joined together under the
leadership of Francisco Madero to overthrow Porfirio Diaz after 1910. There were a number of revolts
and uprisings around the country in Madero s name. In February 1911, Madero and his men attached
the city of Casas Grandes in Chihuahua and defeated Diaz s federals. Madero and his men continued
attacking other cities and they were warned not to get too close to the U.S. border because it might
hurt Americans in the process of them fighting within their own country. However, his generals,
Pascal Orozco and Francisco Villa, were eager to fight. They attacked Juarez against Madero s orders,
and defeated Diaz s federal troops again. On May 1911, a peace treaty was signed and Porfirio Diaz
agreed to resign and to go into exile. On November 1911, Francisco I. Madero became the first new
President of Mexico in almost 30 years. From the beginning, he was a moderate. He wanted to
challenge Diaz, but he did not want to institute policies that went against the rich landowner class to
which his family belonged. He kept most of the power structure created by Diaz intact, much to the
dismay of those who had hoped for significant change. Very quickly, Madero alienated his former
allies, Pascal Orozco and Emiliano Zapata. Emiliano Zapata was born in

Louisville Slugger History
I just don t care to switch to another brand, said the phenomenal player, Derek Jeter, about Louisville
Slugger (Oldham). Louisville Slugger is a company who manufactures and sells baseball bats based in
Louisville, Kentucky. They have been selling baseball bats made of wood for over one hundred and
twenty years. Louisville Slugger is a section of a company named Hillerich and Bradsby. Hillerich and
Bradsby started with the wooden baseball bat, but started to branch off into other sectors like golf and
other baseball equipment. They both thrived because of a man named John A.(Bud) Hillerich who
invented the wooden baseball bat in 1884 that players use today ( Dicks ). Their wooden baseball bats

While J.F. Hillerich s company was growing, Bud worked for him. One afternoon, Bud, who was
seventeen, snuck away from work to see his favorite baseball player play on the Louisville Eclipse (
History ). The Louisville Eclipse was a baseball team in the late 1880 s in a two year old American
Association. The player was the team s star Pete Browning. Browning known as The Old Gladiator
was in a hitting slump (Oldham). A hitting slump is when a baseball player can t seem to get on base
with a hit many times. Baseball players at that time used either a flat bat like a cricket stick or a round
bat, but the bat was oddly shaped or weighted with curves. Both the bats had so many handle styles to
them. The regulations were very little at the time. The bat had to be less than forty two inches long and
less than two and a half inches thick. On the day that Bud came to see him play, Browning broke his
bat. Thus, Bud went over to Browning and convinced him to come with him to his Dad s shop to make
a new bat (Oldham). They grabbed a slab of wood to make the bat (Cantu). The wood was from a
White Ash tree. They began handcrafting the bat from the wood with Bud s carpentry skills and
Browning s knowledge on a good baseball bat (Oldham). They used a wood lathe, turning chisels, and
other tools (Cantu). Bud would tweak the bat, then Browning wood swing it. They kept doing this till
Browning said it was just right. The bat was named the Falls City Slugger . The name, Falls City
Slugger , came from the stretch of rapids in the Ohio River ( Timeline ). The next day Browning got

Mohammad s Creation Of A Trans Tribal State
Mohammad s creation of a trans tribal state occurred during his population of Medina. After he was
persecuted in Mecca, Mohammad sought refuge in Medina. After successfully gaining protection from
its tribes Mohammad sought to make Medina a better place. Mohammad immediately planted crops,
created employment, found water alternatives, and created a town center. After surpassing necessities
Mohammad moved on to his ultimate goal a unified, religious state. Mohammad sought to make
Medina a monotheistic state in contrast to the rampant paganism. Those who lived in Medina and did

The aim of the Constitution was to unify, this meant that non natives and immigrants would be
considered equal in the eyes of the law. The term, believer, frequently used in the document was not
exclusive to Muslims, the articles clarify that a protected believer could be from a different faith so
long as they agree to the terms of the Constitution. It is important to note that some Muslim countries
today would actually be in violation of the Constitution seeing as they do believe in a hierarchical
social and legal system. The ideal state sought to eradicate Pagan practices from the land by bringing
in other nations for a stronger monotheistic presence. Articles 29 40of the Constitution deal with the
specifications for Jewish tribes, including protection and status. At first glance the extensive amount
of articles seems unnecessary, but Khan points out that each article is specified to show the Jews
equality in the eyes of Muhammad. Each article specified a different Jewish tribe, this showed
Muhammad s acknowledgement of each unique tribe while also stating their equality in his eyes; each
tribe s article is identical therefore no tribe is considered loftier than another. Article 28 states that all
disagreements which cannot be settled between people will be answered by Allah and Muhammad.

Customers can use cloud services through Internet. There can be various interaction between
customers and cloud provider and the interactions can also be happening within the cloud providers
which results in raising various security issues. The communication can be classified as (a)internal
which happen between customer and cloud and (b)external which includes within cloud infrastructure.
Mazhar, A. Samee, U., (2015) has defines that the external communication of cloud is like other

Data in the cloud computing is available online on the Internet which causes various security issues.
Those issues are data loss, data breaches, malware insiders and denial of service. Data loss is a
security issue as due to some natural disaster or due to mistakenly deletion if all important data is lost
and there is no back up then a company can lose reputation and trust of customers (Sultan, A.,
William, A., 2016).
Keeping a backup of data can be helpful for data loss but will increase chances of data explore leading
to data breach. Due to less visibility and more exposure, a cloud computing will face malware attacks.
Also, some companies require data resources all the time due to which cloud computing offer services
to be shared among many clients, if an attacker use all available services, then denial of service will
slow down the services. The data location is one of the barrier as clients does not know the extract
location of their data.
The communication between client and provider is done by API and web applications so these
interfaces are also included in security issues. If the API interface are weak and security mechanism
cannot depend them, then an attacker can have access resources and data as a privilege user.

Impact of Electronic Media on Cognitive Development of...
Impact of Electronic Media on Cognitive Development of Children There have been many changes in
the technological scene in the last few years. This has prompted the argument on what people stand to
benefit from these advancements. This is why there have been many studies and researches that are all
intended to show how the electronic media assists in learning amongst children. However, there has
been little attention as to what the electronic media does to the same children. The electronic media
has become a favorite amongst the learners and in particular children. It is imperative to note that the
learning process is not passive. This is because the children do not just heed to the instructions and
assume that anything is learnt. The process of learning is active and cognitive. Therefore, the
environment under which a child is in has a significant influence on the learning process. It is vivid
from this argument that the media has a significant role in the shaping of the children. Electronic
media is very beneficial in the learning process but it is imperative that there are regulations because it
has a dominant role in cognitive development of children. Even at the most tender of ages, children
are already active in the use of the media. The television is the main media that the children are
exposed to at this early age. It may seem that the children do not understand anything in the
televisions and could lead to some disputing the idea of its involvement in

Washington and the Culper Spy Ring
Espionage, the use of spying to obtain secret information regarding the intentions and capabilities of
other persons, groups, organizations, or states is largely seen as a modern twentieth century
phenomenon (Burds, 2012). In reality, it is one of the oldest political and military acts, appearing in
historical and literary accounts since the beginning of recorded history. A vital tool of statecraft,
espionage shapes foreign policy and changes how wars proceed. Unbeknownst to many Americans,
subterfuge and secrecy would play an important role in the Revolutionary War. George Washington,
commander of the Continental Army, was well aware that he needed reliable intelligence to triumph
over British forces which outmatched and often outnumbered his own. To achieve this, Washington
would establish numerous spy networks over the course of the war, the most successful being the
Culper Spy Ring.
In direct contrast to the story of Washington and the Cherry Tree, the first President of the United
States had once served as a spy himself when he fought in the French and Indian War. At the age of
twenty one, he volunteered to engage with French soldiers and learn whatever he could about their
intentions and fortifications through leading conversations (Kilmeade and Yaeger, 2013). The
experience he gained on that mission would serve him well in his career as a revolutionary. Moreover,
having been acquainted with British colonial officials, generals and colonels in his formative years, he

Why Did Some African Americans Reject Nonviolence
Joel Blackmore
WHY DID SOME AFRICAN AMERICANS REJECT NONVIOLENCE?
Black protest in America in the 1960s developed into two opposing stances, the non violence of the
Civil Rights movement in the South and the violent protests of the urban poor blacks and black power

This was predicated on non violent protest. It fo0lowed the principles of non violence successfully

was dominated by white people too much and that black people should be more in control over the
protests that affect them the most. Whites were heavily involved in the Civil Rights Movement on all
levels, from senior positions involving planning the strategy and policies of the movement, to white
liberals joining the protests and demonstrations. Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam felt that white
people were not to be trusted and therefore white people would only harm the struggle for
improvement of life for black people. Malcolm X openly criticised the 1963 Civil Rights march on
Washington, where Martin Luther King delivered his famous I have a dream speech to over two
hundred thousand people. Malcolm X said that the march had been taken over by white liberals: as
they [white liberals] took it over it lost its militancy. It ceased to be angry, it ceased to be hot, it ceased
to be uncompromising it became a picnic, a circus . (11) Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam felt that

Tantalizing Fragments Of A Lost Whole Analysis
Visiting a Charlatan, A brief summary of David Mathisen s Article, Tantalizing Fragments of a Lost
Whole : The ancient myths of humanity begin to yield their secrets. This article is written by David
Mathisen, the author of a series of books Stars Myths of the World, and How to Interpret Them
(Hancock and Mathisen, Warner n.d.). Upon first glimpse of this article, the reader gets the feeling
that the author may have evidence or insight into something new and mysterious. Upon further
examination, logical fallacies, ink blotting and cherry picking become obvious ( Carl Sagan Presents

Sharing ideas, stories and origin myths, would have been a widely used form of communication,
especially with the possibility of language barriers. The stories that make up the Christian bible for
example, have roots in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia and Greece (Campbell 1959). These cultures did
interact with one another, and Mathisen does nothing to scientifically prove his assertion that all

Culture Of The Lincoln Electric Company
Written Assignment Unit 3
Culture of the Lincoln Electric Company The company culture of Lincoln Electric is one of teamwork,
support and innovation. After reading and reviewing the case study done on Lincoln Electric by Arthur
Sharplin of McNeese State University, I have come away with a better understanding of how the
company has become the role model for management world wide.
Many different programs have been incorporated into the company that insures morale and
productivity levels remain high. Among these include end of year bonuses, good merit rewards, and
great benefits, all of which we go into detail later on.
How this culture came to be in the Lincoln Company begins with the founder s values and principles.

If it did control our acts, the savings in cost of distribution would be tremendous. Advertising would
be a contact of the expert consultant with the customer, in order to give the customer the best product
available when all of the customer s needs are considered. Competition then would be in improving
the quality of products and increasing efficiency in producing and distributing them; not in deception,
as is now too customary. Pricing would reflect efficiency of production; it would not be selling a
dodge that the customer may well be sorry he accepted. It would be proper for all concerned and
rewarding for the ability used in producing the product. (Lincoln, 1961)
It is said that early company values exert influence over future company values. This is true in the
case of Lincoln electric. As stated earlier, many programs have been incorporated into the business to
aid employees. The first year the advisory board was put into place, the work week went from 55 to 50
hours. In 1915, the company gave each employee a life insurance policy. In 1917, a welding school
was created which still continues today. In 1918, a bonus plan was put into action on trial basis. It was
removed and then reinserted later and became a strong point of Lincoln s management system. In
1919, Lincoln created the Employee Assocation to provide health benefits and social activities for
employees. By 1923, employees were given two weeks paid vacation

AU Chamber Ensemble Critique
I attended Auburn University s AU Chamber Ensembles at The Goodwin Recital Hall on Monday,
November 14, 2016, that began at 7:30 p.m. The concert featured performances from Auburn Bassoon
Ensemble, Auburn Guitar Ensemble, Auburn Wind Quintet, Auburn String Trio, Nova Saxophone

very gratifying listening experience. The audience dressed very casual but the AU Chamber Ensemble

performers so they changed the way they stood/sat down before each ensemble.
The performers did exceptionally well in their representation of the music. It would be a blunder to ...

The first piece they played was the Sextet for Horns which was created by Gregory Kerkorian.
Kerkorian is an American composer who wrote works for orchestra, concert band, chamber music and

The piece starts with a very dissonance sound. They were very loud and played on a major scale.
There was a lot of harmonic tension between musicians they couldn t stay on key. The timbre was
very brassy and harsh with a conjunct melody. The song seemed to have a larghetto tempo sounding
very slow and sad. The piece also has a low pitch throughout the entire song.
The next piece played by the horn ensemble was the Urlicht which was written by Gustav Mahler.
Mahler was an Austrian late Romantic composer, and one of the leading conductors of his generation.
He was born on July 7th, 1860 and died 1911. As a composer he acted as a bridge between the 19th

Environmentally Sustainable City Of South Australia
Environmentally sustainable city has been Adelaide City Council s priority vision and by 2012, carbon
emissions have reduced by 60%.1 A city that continues to adapt to climate change, utilizes water and
energy efficiently, maintains the natural resources wisely and reduces waste is quite a great challenge
for local council.2 However, effective strategies do help in achieving their vision. In August 2004,
Adelaide City Council and the State Government of South Australia launched a single stage national
housing competition called The Adelaide Affordable Eco Housing Competition. The winning scheme
of this competition is designed by Troppo Architects, providing 26 apartments and a cafe as shown in
Fig. 1. This eco housing is now located on the south east corner of Whitmore Square which is just few
steps away from bus stops, eateries and markets while the free public bus service is provided within
the city.3 No doubt that the normal dwelling would integrate the basic principles of adapting human
wellbeing and aesthetic pleasure into the design but what makes ecology themed housings deserve to
be focused on are their abilities to adapt the climate while benefiting the environment with the eco
features. With the aim of reducing carbon emission in the city, the feature of installing energy efficient
facilities in the dwellings is a must for Eco housing.4 Photovoltaic panels, part of solar power system

Illegal Immigration Is An Example Of One Of Many Things...
Introduction
Illegal immigration is defined as the journey of people through nationwide borders in a way that
violates the immigration regulations. Most states have many illegal immigrants. Immigration, as well
as illegal immigration, is overwhelmingly rising, from a minor to a wealthier country. On the other
hand, illegal immigrants tend not to be the poorest in the residents they move away from. Illegal
immigration has many negative and positive effects everywhere it is.
Crime is an example of one of many things illegal immigration has an effect on. The Rio Grande
valley is affected in many ways because of the effects illegal immigration brings, some of those effects
include public effects, financial effects, political effects, environmental effects among others. There s
many sides to the problems Illegal immigration brings, not only does it affect people living there but it
mostly affects all the other immigrants wanting a better life for themselves.
Objective conditions
According to Emerick, today 11 percent of U.S residents are immigrants with recent estimates
reaching 1.2 million immigrants entering the United States annually (363). Latinos and immigrants are
quickly increasing sectors of the U.S population and a focus of the debates about crime in the social
media and politics. The truth about crime as researched by the criminological theory states that the
theory of illegal immigration promoting crime activity is not supported in studies. The fact that

Prostitution In The Uk Research Paper
Even though each state individually chooses how to handle prostitution criminals, there is a general
trend among all the states that prostitutes and customers receive more lenient punishments than pimps.
Very much unlike the United States, in the United Kingdom it is completely legal for an individual to
exchange money for sex. Although prostitution is legal in the UK, there are many laws implemented
to ensure that the government maintains a certain level of control of the sex industry (Casciani).
Brothels, street prostitution, kerb crawling, and pimping are all aspects of prostitution that are
criminalized within the UK (Calciano); through implementation of multiple acts, such as the Sexual
Offences Act and the Policing and Crime Act, the majority of the laws regulating the sex industry
were established.
In the Sexual Offences Act of 2009, it was declared that it is illegal for brothels to be utilized within
the UK (Sexual Offence Act, 2009). If there is more than one individual offering sex in the same
building as another individual offering sex, the building is considered a brothel and thus becomes a
criminal situation (Casciani). In addition to brothels being criminalized, the Sexual Offences Act also

The Triumph of the Congress of Vienna Essay
The Congress of Vienna was a series of conferences held in Vienna, from 1814 1815. In which many
European heads of government met to establish long lasting piece, preventing revolution and any other
nations from becoming to powerful, on the European continent after the defeat of Napoleon. Even
though many countries came together to discus an issue, the Congress of Vienna was more successful
than many other peace meetings in history (Beck, 241). The most influential of these representatives
was the foreign minister of Austria, Prince Klemens von Metternich (Beck, 238). An additional great
influential representative was the French foreign minister Prince Charles Maurice de Talleyrand, who

The representatives in the Congress of Vienna wanted to prevent France s aggression by surrounding
France with stronger nations, restore balance of power, so no country would be a threat to others and
restore Europe s royal families to the thrones they head held before Napoleon s coquets (Beck, 239).
In order to make the weak nations around France stronger, the former Austrian Netherlands and Dutch
Republic were united to form the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Group of 39 German states were
loosely joined as the newly create German confederation, dominate by Austria. Leaders of Europe
wanted to weaken France, but also didn t want to leave it powerless. If they did, the French might
rebel to take revenge but if France became weaker and was broken up, another country might become
so strong that it would threaten them all. France remained a major but diminished European powers
(Beck, 239). Nevertheless, not all important decisions were made by the great powers.
Most influential of these representatives in the Congress of Vienna was the foreign minister of Austria,
Prince Klemens von Metternich (Beck, 238). At the Congress of Vienna, which convened after
Napoleon s abdication in 1814, Metternich shone brightly as the coachman of Europe, guiding policies

Religious freedom is arguably the oldest and deepest of rights embedded in the modern collection of
liberties. Religion has been historically one of the most powerful forces in shaping the morals of
humanity. According to the 1993 Project on Religion and Human rights; Religion is defined as:
Encompassing a world view or set of beliefs, along with a value system and a way of life embodying
and expressing these beliefs. They are not merely a matter of belief or doctrine, but actually constitute
an integral culture which can form personal and social identity and can influence experience and

Internet Servers (also commonly known as Web Servers), primarily function to deliver web pages on
request to clients. When a user types a domain name into their browser, or clicks on a link, the request
is first sent to a Domain Name Server (DNS). DNSs are servers that hold databases full of domain
names and IP addresses. When a DNS receives a request, it matches the domain name (ie,
www.CriketX.com) to the IP address of the server that holds all of the files that make up that
particular website and sends that information back to the user s browser. The browser can then send a

VB development tools as well as Access and MS SQL cannot be run on Linux servers, which is why
Windows servers are a big hit with Microsoft technology fans. When it comes to system security,
Windows web servers are more prone to attacks by hackers, but this also has more to do with
administration than with the fact that it s running Windows (webdevelopersnotes.com). Also, Linux
servers perform better under heavy traffic so, in the case of shared IP hosting where multiple sites are
running on the same IP address, Linux is the better choice over Windows. Linux also offers more ways
to connect. Windows offers FTP access and it s possible to configure telnet (if your hosting provider
allows it) but Linux offers FTP, telnet, and ssh access. Linux servers are also more likely to offer CGI
and Perl access, although some Windows servers do make it available. Both types of web servers offer
server side scripting tools. When it comes down to choosing what operating system to use on a web
server, or perhaps which hosting company to sign up with, these are all things that you need to take
into consideration. In many cases, it s best to use Linux unless you have a specific reason not to. Many
content management systems such as WordPress or Joomla use PHP and SQL which traditionally runs
faster, and more reliably, on Linux systems, but can be run on Windows web servers as well. Of
course, if your site has been built using Windows specific languages and databases, such as

Gospel Music
In my opinion, the role of soul in the Jazz Gospel connection is subjective to the definition of soul and
how the individual uses the term. Over time, when differing cultures coalesce, old words take on new
meanings. According to the Old English Dictionary (OED), the noun soul dates prior to the 11th
century and continues to change its definition to this day. What I mean by this, is that the word soul
has different denotations in Black culture than the Old Frisian word did centuries ago. However, the
term soul and jazz go as far back as the 1920 s (OED). Nonetheless, soul became synonymous with
the sociopolitical African American identity in the 1950 s when recording artists such as Ray Charles

An introduction in the history of Gospel music is needed to show its association with first Blues and
Gospel music and then Jazz and Gospel. The Field Holler sung by African American slave workers on
American plantations did several things including lift spirits, express emotions, and communicate
information. The Field Holler is recognized as a precursor to Call and response songs which were used
to signal whether the coast was clear on the Underground Railroad as well as a part of the Gospel
music tradition. Gospel music included: Call and response, polyrhythms, improvisation, chorus,
shouts, vibrato, falsetto, piano, organ, and later drums. When Rhythm and Blues artists such as Ray
Charles, James Brown, and Bobby Bland incorporated some of these Gospel music elements they
were branded as soul artists. Consequently, after the media fervor these artists had on the industry
when certain jazz musicians began to incorporate some of these same Gospel elements they too were

In the modern world, the value and the relevance of college education is a controversial issue. People
hold varied views on this issue: some people are of the view that college education is the only mean to

education lies in the fact that college education offers the young learners a conducive environment to
grow and to be able to make mature decisions about themselves later in life. There are other people,
like Caroline Bird, whose article we are going to critique in this paper, who see college education as a
sheer waste of time and money for the majority of people. This paper focuses on Bird s article College

The Caine Mutiny
The 1954 film The Caine Mutiny tells the story of an seemingly attempted mutiny aboard the USS
Caine. Based on the book by the same name, The Caine Mutiny focuses on the tension between a
newly appointed commander and the crew of the ship. Prior to the new commander s arrival, the crew
on the ship do not always follow the strict rules of the Navy, and the new commander begins to
enforce them. As the movie progresses, it seems as though the new commander is the antagonist; he is
very harsh with the crew and is frequently punishing them. In addition, one of the crew members,
Lieutenant Keefer, persuades the other members that the new commander is mentally unfit, leading to
a perceived mutiny. However, it is revealed that Keefer is behind the removal of the commander due

The Learning Of The Classroom
Introduction
When planning a lesson in the classroom it is extremely important to keep in mind all the needs of the
students in the classroom. Every student has their own level of learning and some have major needs
that may need some adaptations in the lesson plan. Currently, all my lessons follow along with the
fourth grade curriculum with sixteen students in the classroom. There are three students in the
classroom that have specific needs.
One female student has an IEP that calls for 120 minutes of services. These services include small
group settings in which the student received a high degree of focused attention on each content area.
Two male students are both considered English Language Learners. The first ELL student is
considered to be a level 3 WIDA at his previous school. He is currently being evaluated for a possible
IEP. He receives four 40 minute sessions of background building for all content areas per week. This
student also has seizure every so often, which may impact his learning. The second ELL student is
speaking at a level 6, writing at a level 2 and reading at a level 1 with an overall score of 2.8. He
recently joined the HMLS but immediately started receiving four 40 minute background building
sessions per week. At the request of his parents, he is also being evaluated for an IEP.

Paper Mache Research Paper
Art is perhaps the best way on the planet to show and describe feelings. For many people art is
nothing but color on paper, but in truth it is so much more. To be able to properly understand a work
of art, which could be a sculpture, painting, drawing etc. You must first be able to understand how the
artist has expressed themselves. So we are going to take this one step at a time and look at one of the
most popular type of sculpture. Paper mache. Paper mache comes from the combination of French
syllables, papier mache meaning chewed paper. The art form gets its name from it s wet, soggy
appearance. The composite material can be made from paper or pulp. In Ancient Egypt, many of the

For those of you who don t know what a pinata is, it is basically a paper mache animal or toy that you
hollow out and fill with candy. Then you put on a blindfold and hit it with a bat until the candy comes
out. This tradition first originated from Spain except you would fill the pinata with toys or other small
trinkets instead of candy.
For those of you who are new to art. It is not easy. Frustration can be very common, especially when
you sculpt in paper mache. I have done paper mache before and know it to be very unforgiving if you
make a mistake. A couple examples of things you want to avoid are: thin spots on your project, (cave

Like I said at the start of this essay. Art is a wonderful way to express yourself in many ways: visual,
photographic, sculpting (3D) etc. but one thing everyone must keep in mind is that no piece of art is
perfect. If you make a mistake that is just fine, you are not a professional. And if you are, well good
for you. But what I am trying to say is that not just anyone can fully grasp or understand art. As all my
teachers say. It s okay not to know, however it isn t okay not to

Vaccines Are Promising Methods For Disease Prevention
Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory disease, and commonly known as whooping cough
because of the uncontrollable coughing which follows infection. However, the immunization against
pertussis has two vaccines; DPT and DTaP. DPT contains whole cell pertussis which is pertussis
bacteria chemically and heat treated while the DTap version has less bioactive pertussis toxin, both
these vaccines are also used to prevent diphtheria and tetanus. DTaP has replaced DPT in numerous
countries as it has been deemed safer; DTap will also be the vaccine most referred to as the
discontinuation of DPT makes it irrelevant to the purpose of determining whether or not countries
should pursue the usage of pertussis vaccines.

2009). This system only monitored individuals aged 10 64 years as this was the only demographic
which could receive the vaccine. 3.3 million patients participated in the study, however only 660,000
received the TDaP vaccine and were the main focus. In order to determine whether or not the
occurrence of encephalitis was relevant to the immunization, cases which happened within 1 4 2day
risk window after the vaccination were considered relevant. The main disadvantage for this form of
data collection is that it relied on an electronic hub for collection, and there was probable delay in
updating patient files. To overcome this possibility, Yih et al. (2009) conducted another confirmatory
analysis post study period. Using statistical technology, Yih et al. (2009) set two values; critical value
and an upper limit value. If the critical value is reached, the null hypothesis that there is no correlation
between the DTaP vaccine and encephalitis cases would be rejected. However, if the upper limit value
is reached prior to the critical value, the null hypothesis stands. The results of Yih et al. (2009)
determined that the TDaP vaccine was not causal to encephalitis arrival as upper limits were reached
before critical values. In addition, according to Yih et al. (2009) s

Dance And Dementia Essay
Moreover, dance decreases the chances of someone getting a chronic illness involving dizziness.
According to Sam wong, a reporter who writes about brain research. Around one in four people
experience this condition at some time in their lives (Wong). A pirouette is a term in dance that means
a turn. When a dancer learns to do pirouettes, they eventually learn to spot, which prevents them from
getting dizzy while doing so many turns in a row. Dizziness comes from an organ in the ear. There is a
fluid within the organ that begins to churn when a person starts to turn and when the person stops
spinning, the fluid continues to move making a person dizzy. Dancers are able to, in a way, adapt to
dizziness. They can just suppress being dizzy. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Dream Factory Comparison Between Hepler And Barkley
You know you re in love when you can t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.
This powerful statement was made by Dr. Seuss and can relate very specifically to the breathtaking
novel entitled Dream Factory by Heather Hepler and Brad Barkley. This book presents the authentic
power of love and is a romance that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat with anxiety to
contemplate what will occur next. It discards you with a sunny heart and joyous feelings after reading.
The book starts off with a strike organized by the Disney characters at Walt Disney World who felt
oppressed by the way things were going. So, as the summer lugged on and numberless people were
forecasted to pay a visit to the park, kids who had finished ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This quote was by Luke, who conceives just how alike, he and Ella are. He senses that she is like the
mirror image of himself and therefore is naturally very drawn to her. This refines the theme of love s
power because Luke apprehends that Ella is the type of girl he longs for and this triggers him to feel a
connection of sentiment between them instantly. Secondly, the text reads, But how can it be that my
parents, Cassie, and the whole world are wrong, and only Ella and I have it figured out? (225). This
statement, also made by Luke, explains his feelings of unbelonging. He feels like an alien among his
parents and his girlfriend Cassie. They all want him to carry on his father s business and be this
extravagant guy with a perfect life , making legions of money. They basically have his future all
figured out for him. Except for the fact that he doesn t want to carry out that lifestyle and he doesn t
want his parents concocting his future. He yearns to live his own individual life and have some say in
making his own choices. His girlfriend Cassie is always encouraging him to be proud of how
stupendous his life is and how bright the future is for him. She never acknowledges that he simply
doesn t want to do what everyone is advising him to. When he is around Ella, he feels something
entirely contradistinct. She isn t about all the planned

Barack Obam The Choice Of A New President
Thank you, thank you! Thank you Joe, and thank you Massachusetts for the great honor of serving as
your senator. Thank you guys! What a night. Wow. Michelle Obama, Cory Booker. And we still have
Bernie coming up. Bernie reminds us what Democrats fight for every day. Thank you, Bernie. Thank
you. Now we re here tonight because America faces a choice the choice of a new president. On one
side is a man who inherited a fortune from his father and kept it going by cheating people, by skipping
out on debts. A man who has never sacrificed anything for anyone. A man who cares only for himself,
every minute of every day. On the other side is one of the smartest, toughest, most tenacious people on
this planet, a woman who fights for children, for women, for healthcare, for human rights a woman
who fights for all of us and is strong enough to win those fights. We re here today because our choice
is Hillary Clinton. I m with Hillary. I m with Hillary. I m with Hillary. You know, for me, this choice is
personal. It s about who are as people, it s about what kind of a country we want to be. I grew up in
Oklahoma. My daddy ended up as a maintenance man and my mom worked a minimum wage job at
Sears. My three brothers served in the military... Me? I got married at 19, graduated from a commuter
college in Texas that cost $50 a semester. The way I see it, I m a janitor s daughter who became a
public school teacher, a professor, and a United States senator. America is truly a country of

Statement For The Physics Student
Statement by MIPT Alumnus (01/2000)
The Physics Student, admitted to Rutgers, Boston University, PennState
Being born in a family of physicists I was fond of science from my childhood. Even when I was a
little girl, my favorite toys have all been mechanical. Their inside was always a tempting mystery for
me. Later on, the questions I asked myself have progressed to more sophisticated ones, usually dealing
with nature phenomena around me like why the sky is blue, how clouds or rainbow form, what the
lightning is and so on. Fortunately, my parents were able to help me with providing the answers to
some of those questions, or in some cases providing me with references on how to manage myself.
Since we had a pretty extensive library at home, soon I was reading books like Swarz Unusual

I enjoyed this job greatly. I enjoy communicating with people and I have got much from my students
as well as my students have got from me. I believe this experience will significantly help me both in
my teaching assistant assignments and in my future academic career.
Now my interests in science lie in the area of molecular, optical and chemical physics. After
completing my PhD program I would like to work as a researcher and as a teacher in this field. I also
believe that my serious intention for study and research, my past laboratory experience and academic
background in various areas of Physics and Mathematics will be beneficial for my graduate studies. I
have chosen Massachusetts Institute of Technology for continuing my education because as I know it
provides excellent opportunities for studying physics and mathematics as well as for the research in
the area of my interests.

  • 2. Character Analysis Of Lulamae Barnes First of all there is the novella s heroine Holly Golightly, using this promising pseudonym instead of her humble actual name Lulamae Barnes. She is an orphan from Texas, who became the child wife of an elderly but kind hearted veterinarian, Doc, who took her and her brother in, before she eloped and was discovered by the agent O. J. Berman, by the narrative s time her loyal friend and protector, who tried to turn her into a Hollywood actress, which first brought her to California and later to New York. She comes across (...) even when she opens her mouth and you don t know if she s a hillbilly or an Okie or what. My guess, nobody ll ever know where she came from. She s such a goddamn liar, maybe she don t know herself any more. Yet, it is through the gaps in her stories, the things she refuses to speak about, that we gain a sense of the self under the mask. The painful history of her childhood, only hinted at by Doc s arrival, makes up one of the biggest explanations of her persona which we only become aware of in her relationship with the narrator, who she mainly comes to trust because he reminds her of her brother Fred, a soldier in the army, who seems to be the one person that she truly loves. Through her accounts of her past to the narrator, who she also calls Fred a very important narrative tool, which we will come back to later we learn that her actual wish is to gain enough money an independence, most probably trough marriage and subsequent divorce , to buy a ranch in Mexico with her brother as soon as he returns. The moment is symbolized with her taking of the sunglasses she wears to mask her eyes, marking one of two moments where she truly opens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is The Theme Of The Bird And The Arras The Bird and the Arras, is a poem written by Anne Finch, Countess of Winchilsea (1661 1720), she has always been a recognised author, but the recognition of her works have been revived in the last years. Her poetry reflects her thoughts and personal experiences, but also the social and political situation of the era (18 th century, England). As in the case of the poem The Bird and the Arras , the author describes the situation of the women of the time by the using of the symbol of the bird. During the poem, the room where the bird is trapped, which has a high ceiling, has an arras, and the bird tries to follow the birds that appear on the arras. As a consequence of trying to follow the birds that appear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Till some kind hand directs the certain way we can find a synecdoche, kind hand could be God s hand which will take her (the bird) to heaven, with this detail we can fathom that women were trapped in society, as heaven seems to be the only way to freedom they can find. The use of Heav n has a special meaning that confirms what mentioned before; the poet has chosen the use of Heav n instead of sky to reinforce the idea that it is the only way to freedom. The room where the bird is could be interpreted as a marriage, where the woman is nullified or it can represent a real room. Secondly, from the analysis made above, we can get to several interpretations of the poem. On a literal way the poem is describing how a bird tries to escape from a room because it is lock in it, which is a dramatic situation, as it is described in the poem. The first interpretation, is that she will be free when she dies, as every time she tries to reach freedom fails And leads to ample space, the only Heav n of Birds . The second is more pessimistic as it concludes that she will never be free, as every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. King Arthur Purple Symbolism In Medieval Literature Heraldry is a type of visual language that was used as a means to distinguish between knights in armor. This ancient language was unique to each knight or family due to the independent creation of each blazon. King Arthur, son of King Uther Pendragon, is a transcendent mythological figure that rules the over the kingdom of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table. However, despite Arthur s significance in medieval literature the heraldic symbols present on his flag are debatable. Firstly, Purple symbolizes royalty or sovereignty. Due to Arthur s sovereign status as king of Camelot one may conclude that the color of his flag would be purple. Finally, the hawk signifies an individual s inability to rest until a particular objective is achieved. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Post Colonial Mexico Essay The history of Post colonial Mexico included many successful and influential leaders: Porfirio Diaz, Francisco Madero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa, and Emiliano Zapata. Disparities in classification of the revolution arise from the numerous factions and ideological assumptions advocated for the overthrow of Diaz s rule, hence one can argue that it was a political, social, or economical revolution. A social revolution advocates a complete transformation of all characteristic aspects of society, encompassing the political structure, economically distribution, and social hierarchy. These men set forth some major objectives to revive Mexico that led to the Mexico Revolution of 1910 1916 and the Constitution of 1917. When Diaz came into powered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Plan of San Luis Potosi simply was for the people of Mexico to raise their arms to overthrow the dictatorship of Diaz and reinstitute democracy. The countryside and city joined together under the leadership of Francisco Madero to overthrow Porfirio Diaz after 1910. There were a number of revolts and uprisings around the country in Madero s name. In February 1911, Madero and his men attached the city of Casas Grandes in Chihuahua and defeated Diaz s federals. Madero and his men continued attacking other cities and they were warned not to get too close to the U.S. border because it might hurt Americans in the process of them fighting within their own country. However, his generals, Pascal Orozco and Francisco Villa, were eager to fight. They attacked Juarez against Madero s orders, and defeated Diaz s federal troops again. On May 1911, a peace treaty was signed and Porfirio Diaz agreed to resign and to go into exile. On November 1911, Francisco I. Madero became the first new President of Mexico in almost 30 years. From the beginning, he was a moderate. He wanted to challenge Diaz, but he did not want to institute policies that went against the rich landowner class to which his family belonged. Impact of Electronic Media on Cognitive Development of Children There have been many changes in the technological scene in the last few years. This has prompted the argument on what people stand to benefit from these advancements. This is why there have been many studies and researches that are all intended to show how the electronic media assists in learning amongst children. However, there has been little attention as to what the electronic media does to the same children. The electronic media has become a favorite amongst the learners and in particular children. Although prostitution is legal in the UK, there are many laws implemented to ensure that the government maintains a certain level of control of the sex industry (Casciani). Brothels, street prostitution, kerb crawling, and pimping are all aspects of prostitution that are criminalized within the UK (Calciano); through implementation of multiple acts, such as the Sexual Offences Act and the Policing and Crime Act, the majority of the laws regulating the sex industry were established. In the Sexual Offences Act of 2009, it was declared that it is illegal for brothels to be utilized within the UK (Sexual Offence Act, 2009). If there is more than one individual offering sex in the same building as another individual offering sex, the building is considered a brothel and thus becomes a criminal situation (Casciani). Most Common Internet Server Operating Systems Most Common Internet Server Operating Systems POS/355 Internet Servers (also commonly known as Web Servers), primarily function to deliver web pages on request to clients. When a user types a domain name into their browser, or clicks on a link, the request is first sent to a Domain Name Server (DNS). DNSs are servers that hold databases full of domain names and IP addresses. When a DNS receives a request, it matches the domain name (ie, www.CriketX.com) to the IP address of the server that holds all of the files that make up that particular website and sends that information back to the user s browser. Over time, when differing cultures coalesce, old words take on new meanings. According to the Old English Dictionary (OED), the noun soul dates prior to the 11th century and continues to change its definition to this day. What I mean by this, is that the word soul has different denotations in Black culture than the Old Frisian word did centuries ago. However, the term soul and jazz go as far back as the 1920 s (OED).
