1. Briefly describe salt production, from brine production to finished round cans.
Salt is a raw material that is located below the surface. The salt deposits are dissolved in the water and then the brine is pumped and converted into salt
crystals. When the brine is being boiled the liquid evaporates which leaves salt crystals and then they are later dried. A process like this takes about
six weeks and can produce up to 45 tons per hour. After taking out all the scale buildup, only 75 percent of that salt is produced. Then we move to the
round can production, which has two parallel high–speed production lines. There are 12 workers for each line and they break off into 2 identical lines.
Each line can produce 9600 cans per hour. Because the production process has common procedures, workers on the line perform low–skilled, repetitive
tasks that can be operated by 18 workers. These cans are in a shape of a cylinder with a top and bottom. The top part has a plastic pour spout and the
cylinder is made from 2 sheets of chipboard. There is a two–step process in cutting the tub and first we cut it into long sections and then they are cut
into can–sized pieces. The two sheets are glued together, which keeps the moisture out. The cans are then filled with salt and the pour spout is put in.
The cans are then placed in pallets and shipped.

species were extracted partially purified and their endopolysaccharides
(extracted from the fruiting bodies) as well as exopolysaccharides (extracted from the filtrate of cultured mycelia) production were determined to
evaluate their anti–tumour and anti–oxidant effects. The present results showed that
Pleurotus ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide has the maximum intracellular production as compared with the other studied mushrooms.
Different mushroom's endo– and exopolysaccharides inhibited the proliferation of
Ehrlich tumour (EAT) cells in vitro; however, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide exhibited the maximum anti
–tumour effect. Moreover, P. ostreatus
FIII endopolysaccharide showed the maximum scavenging activity compared to the scavenging effects of the control ascorbic acid.

Study of Fungi in Three Different Types of Media
All three fungi, Pleurotus pulmonarius, Pycnoporus sanguineus and Trichoderma sp. were grown in three different type of media MEA, PDA and
GYMP under conditions of pH 5.5 and temperature of 27.
Based on the graphs, Pleurotus pulmonarius grew faster in the medium of MEA followed by GYMP and PDA. Pycnoporus sanguineus and
Trichoderma sp. grew faster in MEA medium as well but followed by PDA and then GYMP. The accumulative growth for Pleurotus pulmonarius in
MEA medium is 2.11875, PDA medium is 1.393333, and GYMP is 2.166666667. The accumulative growth for Pycnoporus sanguineus in MEA
medium is 2.247916667, PDA medium is 2.475, and GYMP is 2.348333333. The accumulative growth for Trichoderma sp in MEA medium is about
2.64 ( 2.641666667) cm, PDA medium is about 2.53 (2.529166667) cm, and GYMP is about 2.85 (2.852777778) cm.
In triplicates of Pleurotus pulmonarius, white mycelium colonies were formed in both MEA and PDA media, but white and orange colony were
observed in GYMP medium. The MEA medium causes Pleurotus pulmonarius to form dense mycelia, but less dense in media PDA and GYMP.
Totally, none of the media contributed to sporulation from Pleurotus pulmonarius and moreover, in MEA medium, it took 6 days for it to grow to the
maximum length provided while the GYMP medium, it took 7 days. As for the PDA medium, even after 7 days, it did not reach the maximum length
of the petri dish.
