The document discusses how media technologies were used at different stages of creating a music video for the artist Father John Misty.
Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram were used for communication, planning, sharing work, and gathering feedback. YouTube was used for research, uploading the final video, and analyzing other artists' styles.
Premiere Pro and iMovie were utilized for editing footage, adding filters, and creating a split screen effect to tell the narrative. Online tutorials helped learn software skills. The internet provided research on the artist and audience preferences.
Photoshop, scanners, cameras, and tripods were other technologies that supported planning mockups, sharing hand-drawn work, filming, and achieving different
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

1. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA
TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH,
PLANNING AND EVALUATION
STAGES?
2. Social Media
In order to communicate as a group we used Facebook as an online chat to plan when to film,
discuss ideas and share work we have produced for our entire combination of media products for
Father John Misty.Using social media helped as we could do work at home then easily present it to
one another through a simple message. This has also helped with time management as if we didn’t
have social media we wouldn’t be able to contact one another without meeting up.
Meeting up as a group when everyone was available was difficult when it came to organising a day
to film as we had to make sure it suited the actors as well. Eventually we found the times and dates
we could all make and proceeded to film the entire music video. Not only that but we used other
social media suchas Instagram. This was to send people the link for the video in order to get
feedback from people who fell into the target audience.
In addition,YouTube is a form of social media which we used to present our music video on based
on our audience research when asked do people prefer to watch music videos onTV orYouTube
and it was a 50/50 result, howeverYouTube was the available option for us, as well as somewhere
that we all watch music videos ourselves.
3. Research
For the research element of the construction of out music video, the internet was the main source to all of
the information we needed. For example we needed to research the artist and find out meanings for his
lyrics onGenius.com in order to gather information that we would go forth and use for our video. This was
very important for us as the video was a representation of the artist himself and that entailed us to use a
realistic narrative based on our findings of Father John Misty.
Once we found out research on the artist we then did our audience research by using Survey Monkey to
ask multiple questions with straight forward answers. These can be found in the Audience research posts
on my blog. However we thought we should speak to someone who matched our target audience based
off the survey results and do a proper interview. We used Premiere Pro to put this video together and
found it easily manageable to use, therefore we decided to use it to edit and compose our music video as
well. This can also be found on my blog andYouTube.com. We usedYouTube to upload the interview, but
also used it as a key research platform as it had Father John Misty music videos on their as well as multiple
interviews that we would watch as a team to get to know the artist himself, not only that but to analyse his
videos and other artists videos to get the mind set of creating something new and something that suits
the artist AND the audience.
4. Planning
In the planning process we used multiple different aspects of media technologies. First of all we had
to find a way to share and input our ideas when we weren't all together in one room, therefore
Facebook group chats was a great option for us.This is due to us being able to send images of work
we had done and other things suchas screenshots and video links to specific things that inspired us
individuality for our video. For example as I mentioned previously the '500 Days of Summer' scene was
a huge inspiration to us all.
Another way we found inspiration was through the internet including Father John Mistys own website
and hisYouTube channel. Similarly to this, when we got to the stage of using our inspiration and
putting it together we decided to make 'mock-ups' of our Digipak as it seemed to be the reasonable
thing to do as we could then go forth and develop it further to reveal the final product. Nevertheless
photoshop helped putting everything together for a rough idea, we also did hand-written work and
drawings which we then would use a scanner and email one another the images of our hand-written
work.
5. Filming
For the filming stage of our project, we once again used Facebook to message one another and
discuss meeting times and locations we would use. When we got to the day of filming, we used
multiple pieces of equpiment. The equipment included: a DSLR camera, a video recorder camera (as
a prop), a tripod and we also used a different camera that I personally own to grasp a different focus
of the footage. The footage on my camera is much less in focus and has a lower quality. This was to
represent to footage that the actors got on the video recorder. We later edited it to make it look
older by adding filters as our idea to have it set in the past about the artists life was our aim. As for
the tripod, we barely used it as we wanted the camera to follow the actors as if they were actually
there. It has the shaky effect which is what we wanted to go for as we felt this accentuated the fact
that it is supposed to be very realistic.
6. Editing
After finally finishing all the filming, we began the editing process and used different software to do
so. Since no one in our team knew how to use Premiere Pro to an extent that we needed, I watched
online tutorialYouTube videos that taught me how to apply a split screen. I had to change the scales
of the video clips we had and move them all so they were side by side in the exact same position in
order for the video to run smoothly. Luckily the video was incredibly helpful and was eventually an
easy process. Contrary to this, for adding filters to some of our footage we used iMovie and added a
filter that made the footage look old and vintage.
In addition to this, we used Premiere Pro to create a visual difference in the opposing sides of the
videos/narrative. On the left hand side it is the 'good' side, whereas on the right it was 'bad'. Bearing
this in mind, we changed the saturation on both, making the left more vibrant than the right to
express the emotions going through the narrative.
Good = Bright
Bad = Dark
In terms of presenting and publishing our video, we usedYouTube as this is a very popular choice
and is where our artists videos are usually shared.
