2. I have thought and done much research into different media
institutions that could possibly distribute my production.
My choices are:
• DreamWorks
• Touchstone
• Columbia Pictures

3. I chose DreamWorks because DreamWorks produced a movie named Sweeney Todd. The
movie itself has the genres of Horror, Musical and Drama. None relates to my production
genre. However, the main character Sweeney Todd who is played by Johnny Depp, seems to
have a mad mind. He is subconsciously driven by hate, similarly like my main character.
Sweeney Todd appears as the main protagonist, like my character. Sweeney Todd works as a
barber and in the plot line of the film, he slits all of his customers throats and lets them drop
through a basement hatch. The fact that Sweeney Todd is shown using a barber knife in the
film adds to the similarities of my man character, who is shown to be ready to attack his old
family members, using a knife.
Even though DreamWorks is known for its animations such as Shrek, How to train your
dragon and Madagascar, it has created much more reality like films.
Although Sweeney Todd is a horror and musical, nothing like my own production. Whereas I
have Comedy and Crime, Johnny Depp as a main character give the movie Sweeney Todd the
hint of comedy. Johnny Depp, as a person has a very funny attire and somehow always
includes comedy in most of his movies.

4. Touchstone- Good Morning Vietnam
I have chosen Touchstone as one of my choices to distribute
my media product because they have created films such as
Good Morning Vietnam. The genre of this film is comedy,
drama and war. As well, this film doesn’t link so much with my
production apart from the fact that the main genre is comedy.
This is the only real link to Touchstone productions that can
relate to my production.

5. Columbia Pictures- Ghostbusters
Columbia Pictures have created the film Ghostbusters and its series. I have
chosen Columbia Pictures as one of my options because Ghostbusters is a
film of extreme comedy and has hints of some mystery and crime, like my
own production.
I believe that Columbia Pictures would produce my film opening because it
is a movie that would fit into their genre choices.
Most of the Ghostbusters comedy comes from slapstick
comedy and what they say in their script. It is a lot like
my own production as the main character falls down for
a slapstick effect.

6. As a final decision I believe out of all 3 institutions, Columbia Pictures
would probably be the best company to produce my film opening. My
reason for this is that Columbia Pictures is known for producing and
releasing comedies and mystery movies, including some action and
crime. Their choices of genres are very similar to my production. Also, I
believe that my production would benefit their company as it is a film
that teens search for as shown in my questionnaire data.
