                          Varun Kongara
Explain which media company would publish your magazines, with detailed reference to
why they would be suitable?

 The media publishing company I would like to choose are The Bauer Media
Group, who are known to be Europe’s largest privately owned publishing
group. They have been in the magazine publishing business since 1953.

 Bauer Media owns and publishes famous magazine brands, such as the ‘Q
Magazine’ and the popular Rock music magazine ‘Kerrang’. These are some
of their media products which are similar to the magazine ‘Tuned In’.

 This publishing company is the most suitable for the magazine ‘Tuned In’..
Because they publish magazines of similar material/genre of ‘Tuned In’.
The Bauer Media group have yet to publish a Hip Hop/Urban style
music magazine. I think that the The ‘Tuned In’ magazine should
be published by this group. ‘Tuned In’ would bring in a new genre
of magazine to the group. And I am sure it would add to the
extensive variety of the Bauer Media Group.
Information on BAUER MEDIA’s advertising

 Choosing the Bauer Media publishing company, has many advantages for
the ‘Tuned In’ magazine. For example the advertising for the magazine has
a head start. Because the group has many branches of media distribution.

 Such as the well settled radio channel called ‘KISS 100’. And it also has a
small screen business in the digital music TV channel called ‘The Box’. And
it has now grown into Box television, with a joint venture Television
  business with ‘Channel 4’.

 These forms of broadcasting media, has many advantages for
advertising, and can help the magazine ‘Tuned In’ to get settled.
The target audience - Explain this with specific examples of who might
advertise in your magazine and why (target audience, image of
magazine, suitability of product, etc).

 • The target audience of ‘Tuned In’ magazine are a small age group of
people, aged between 17 year olds to 25 year olds. The focus on gender
     of the audience is neutral.

 • The content featured in the ‘Tuned In’ magazine will purely be in relation
with music news. With the acceptation of limited advertisements, for technology, for
example iPhone apps or Android market etc.
Would your magazine have an ‘online presence’? Would it be
appropriate to have an online version of your magazine, why?

 the idea of having an online magazine is good, only because
it makes the magazine more accessible to many different
people. However many other news websites may feature the
same news. So the only real advantage for having a online
website for ‘Tuned In magazine’ is that it helps to advertise
the content of the printed magazines.
 The Bauer Media group, would’ve taken the advertising
part, of the launch of ‘Tuned In’ magazine. They would
advertise through television and radio. So using the internet
as a tool to advertise, would be another good use of
technology, because that too can reach the target audience.
Would you invest in an App for the smart phone
       users?
• Yes I would, because so many people these days are using smart phone
technology, so I think it’s a good opportunity, to utilize the ability
to create and market an app.

• If I were to design an app, I would make it different, in
comparison with the printed magazines. So it would feature extra music
news, prize contests and downloadable content, (e.g. songs, podcasts from iTunes etc. At a small
monthly fee, but the app itself would be free to purchase in the stores.

• Using apps to reach the audience is an excellent idea. Because the target audience of ‘Tuned In’
magazine are aged between 17 to 25 year olds, which ‘in general’ are the ones who use smart phones/tablets,
for news updates and entertainment, and of course as a communication device as the primary purpose.
