In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products: Magazine

With my magazine I used every convention I learnt from my research. Most magazines are trying to attract their audiences to
buy their issue with prizes and vivid font as well as eye catching cover stories and things that will make the potential buyer feel
like they’re gaining something out of buying the magazine such as a chance to win tickets or to get to know some actors better.
From my research I used what I learnt from magazines that caught my attention and tried to convert it into my own product
How effective is the
                     combination of your main
                     product and ancillary texts?
The combination of my teaser and the poster and magazine cover worked well together in my view as I tired to link them
together yet make them slightly different . As the main product was the teaser trailer I had to make sure the ancillary
texts worked around this. Therefore instead of screen grabbing an image from my trailer I took a separate professional
picture and used that for the ancillary texts. I also had to portray clear links between the main characters and use colour
and images to show what kind of product it was. I used a gray scale colouring for my poster and left the colour in for my
magazine as I wanted it to be more vivid and contrast against the different colours the font was. To make the link
stronger I could I have used the same font of the titling of my product for each ancillary text. From the type of image it is
as well as the greyscale I think it’s obvious what genre my products fit into.

What have you learned from
                   your audience feedback?
From my audience feedback I learnt that most people felt it was similar to what was on the
market at the moment. I learnt this from the feedback I received on Youtube which is shown
below. However I’m happy with this criticism as I was trying to make a similar product to the
things I’d viewed during my research. Most of the feedback was positive and some had ideas
of how to make it better if I was to create a product again.

How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
  stages?
During the construction of my three products I came across technologies I never used but I acquired the skills necessary to go
through with. Firstly I already knew how to use a camera from my previous experience with recording equipment; this includes
tripods sound booms etc. I also knew how to use Final Cut Pro as I was the editor last year in my preliminary task. As for Photoshop
I was new to this and continuously practiced and used this application until I felt I had the hang of it. I was already very
comfortable using Google and used this search engine for most of my research alongside Youtube which is linked to Google I use
both sites for educational and personal use so I had no issues using them. I'm also comfortable with PowerPoint as I used this
frequently to create presentations so I was ay ease to use it when creating my evaluation. During my first A-level year I used Word
press the online blogging site so this year I knew all the tools and how to use the site to my advantage.
This is a screen grab of me
using Google search
engine to search for
teaser trailers. It shows all
the available links and
finds.
This is me using Youtube. I
created an account and
uploaded my final product on
this site so people could give
me critism and it’ll be easier to
upload the product to Word
Press.
