2. Computer: Apple Mac- I used the Apple Mac computer
throughout the whole of my task. I did all of my research
and editing on the Mac as well as creating my own poster
and magazine covers. The Mac was very useful to me as it
allowed me to create the products to the best of my ability.
A strength of the Mac would be that it enabled me to create
what I wanted to, to the best of my ability and the weakness
would be that it took a little while to learn how all of its
features worked.
Internet- I used the internet for most of my research as well
as for some of my images that I used in order to make my
work look more appeasing. This helped me as it allowed me
to gain information about the work I was doing as well as
the definitions of the work I completed. Having the
definitions of some of the words used in my work allowed
me to go into further detail about that topic. A strength of
using the internet would be that I was able to get all of the
needed images in order to complete my work.
3. Office 365: OneDrive- We used OneDrive in order to share
images and videos with one another. As we were doing different
tasks we tried to take as many screenshots as possible as
evidence for our trailer and so we used OneDrive as an easy
way of sharing the images with the group in order for us to put
them on our journals. Sharing these images helped show what
improvements we made along the way from the feedback we
received as we have before and after images that show the
changes we made. The strength of using OneDrive would be
that it allowed my and my group to share images with one
another and this allowed us to show our progress as well as our
improvements. The weakness would be that the images weren't
ladled and so it took time to fine the images we needed.
4. YouTube- I used YouTube to research as well. I
research passed students work to gain some knowledge
on what I had to do when it came to filming. I also used
it when creating my own poster and magazine covers. It
helped my use different tools to create the products to
the best of my ability. I also used YouTube in order for
the class to see our teaser trailer and give feedback in
order to make improvements. YouTube was also used
when it came to our feedback as we each left comments
on the different groups trailers. This allowed us to
complete our evaluations as we were able to talk about
what we did well and what we thought we could have
done to make it better.
Pearl and Dean- During the production of our teaser
trailer, we used Pearl and Dean as a source of research.
We did our target research using this website. This
helped me as it allowed me to gain some knowledge on
what type of people are into the film we wanted to
create. It also helped me determine whether or not our
genre would suit our target audience and if they would
find the trailer interesting. The strength of Pearl and
Dean was that it allowed me to have an insight on what
type of genres attract certain people. The weakness
would be that not every film I research that was of the
same genre of our trailer would show that age range.
5. Prezi- I used Prezi as a way to present some of the
research I did. I did my genre research using Prezi
and this allowed me to include all the information I
needed for that topic. When having a lot of
information, it was easier for me to put it on Prezi and
it was a more organised way of doing it. The strength
of Prezi was that it allowed me to create a piece of
work that was easily understandable however the
website didn’t always work which shorted the amount
of time I had to complete it.
Slideshare- I used Slideshare a few times during the production of our
teaser trailer. I used Slideshare to present some of my research in an
appealing way. When there was a lot of research that needed to be done
I would put it on a Slideshare in order to keep it all together as well as to
present it in an organised way. It also allowed me to include images
when writing about something and this saved space in my journals for
other information that I needed.
6. Script template- Hannah and I used a script template in order to
create our script for our teaser trailer. One of the first steps for
creating a video project is the script writing. A script is a
document that describes the video, which includes descriptions
of the various shots and any dialogue or voice overs. A script
also serves as a planning device for the video. This helped
when it came to filming as well as we knew what shot we
wanted as well as the order we should take them in order to get
each shot that was needed. We used the script as a checklist to
ensure we got all the shots and used a wide range of different
camera angles such as close ups and long shots which also
helped to audience gain some knowledge on what was
happening in the trailer. This is the website we used in order to
help us create the script.

guide-to-scriptwriting/
7. Word document- I used the word document as a was to show
some of my research. I did some poster research using Word and
this allowed me the space to write about each different element
of the poster, this showing my understanding of the importance of
a poster for an upcoming film. The strength of using Word was
that it was a fast and easy way of doing my work and I got all of
the needed information in the document.
Animatic- A preliminary version of a film, produced by shooting
successive sections of a storyboard and adding a soundtrack.
We made an animatic to show what we wanted to create in real
life. This was a struggle as we had to get each shot in order for it
to make sense. There were a few different images that needed to
be made in order for anyone to understand what was going on in
the trailer. However, we managed to get different images and put
them together in such a way that it told the story we wanted it to.
8. Photoshop and illustrator- Alter (a photographic image) digitally using
Photoshop image- editing software. I used Photoshop in order to create my
own poster and magazine cover. Using Photoshop allowed me to create these
products to the best of my ability. Using the different tools it offers, I was able to
take away background that I didn't want and edit it to suit my genre. The
strengths of using Photoshop were that I was able to have the image itself and
not the background as well. I was able to create both a magazine and poster
cover that suited the genre we chose to do. The weaknesses however, were
the different layers that I had to add in every time I added a new image or text.
This got difficult to keep track of however I managed to complete both products
I the end. It also helped me when it came to producing our final poster and
magazine cover. I used illustrator in order to add text to the products I made.
And this finalised the two front covers. The strengths of illustrator were that I
was able to add text to the covers and I was able to change their size, colour
and font to what I thought looked best. The weakness was that I had never
used illustrator before and so it took some time to get the hang of it and
complete my work.
These are some
screenshots from the
process of using Photoshop
and Illustrator. These are
also the final products for
my magazine and poster
covers.
9. Camera: Canon 80D- We used the Canon camera 80D to film our teaser trailer as well as to take
the images for the poster and magazine cover. The camera was very good quality and was easy to
use. We were able to get all of the different shots we needed as were able to get them in good
timing as well. The strength of the camera was that we were able to get the different shots and they
were clear for the audience to see. There ere different things that the camera could do in order to
get a better shot and this helped when it came to doing our close ups. The weakness was that
there were some difficulties when working with the camera as we have never used one before and
this took some time out of our filming.
Lights: LED Studio lights- We used studio lights in order to set the scene and make sure the shots
were clear. This was useful as there were some clips that were shot inside where the lighting wasn’t
the best and you couldn't see clearly. The lights helped us get the shots in focus and the audience
could see clearly what was going on and could tell how the character was represented through their
facial expressions. The strength of the lights was that we were able to get good shots that the
audience will be able to see clearly. The weaknesses however, are that the lights looked better in
some shots and then in others they weren't needed. This made some shots darker or lighter than
others which we had to fix while editing.
Final Cut Pro X- I used Final Cut Pro X to do the editing bit of the products. I use Final Cut Pro X to
make the company ident as well as the titles in the trailer. Final Cut Pro X was very useful during
the editing as it allowed us as a group to produce our final teaser trailer. We were able to add
sound and take away and clips we didn't need. The strengths of Final Cut Pro X was that we were
able to create a good teaser trailer that told a story to the audience w were also able to add our
own sound that we thought went best and we finished our trailer to the best of our ability. The
weakness was that there were some elements that we had some difficulty using and this effected
our editing time. Overall, it was all good and we completed the task to a good standard.
